Memorial Church of the Holy Spirit

You won't see a church like this anywhere else. Do not miss it if you are in the Tolmin region! Pay for the tour to understand it. The road to Javorca is not always open to private cars, so check on the Triglav national park page. And check the bus schedule Tolmin-Javorca during the summer season and absolutely use it, if it's available! The road is extremely narrow and dangerous even by Slovenian standards. The last thing you want to do on holidays is to drive backwards, winding between rocks and precipices to pull-off.

Really pretty and an important part of history. Also lovely views of the mountains. Go by local bus from Tolmin, because the road is open only with permit, and it is also really narrow.

DO NOT DRIVE TO THE CHRUCH!! Google will give directions but the way is barely more than a walking path. Go on foot, bike, or take the shuttle from the Tolmin bus station for 2 euro. Don't risk the drive! Otherwise, this is a beautiful place to visit and a rare nice story in a terrible war. Highly recommend if you are in the area. There are bunkers nearby that you can walk through as well. If you like hiking there are plenty of trails in the area and even a farm to stop at to buy cheese.

A church that is both beautiful and deeply moving, built by soldiers of the Austro-Hungarian Empire as a memorial to fallen comrades . Enquire at the local tourist office for access inside.

Church Javorca is not just a church. It is a promoter of peace. The strongest antiwar monument after the 'war museum in Kobarid'. With hike to springs of Tolminka river for me a highlight of Soča Valley!

Its a nice place but i wonder if its worth the effort. Its a 20 minute drive from tolmin, with the roads being very narrow and winding. Followed by a steep walk uphill for about 1km. But the church is very pretty, with a very nice view.

Very impressive place. Great view over the valley too. Even though you need some strong nerves to get there by car.

Sadly this was closed both times we tried to go. But looking through the windows was magical as was the setting. It is a terrifying drive I would not do it again -take the shuttle! And its a stiff incline 20 minute walk up. But with it…not the drive…I would never do that again.
