Menemsha Inn & Cottages

A most relaxing couple of nights at the Beach Plum with my bride. The staff were so very friendly and Virginia was great! Our room had spectacular views from our balcony. An added bonus was the Aquinnah lighthouse that could be seen at night in the distance from our bed. Another unexpected blessing was the alluring late-night faint ding-dong of the buoy(s) located on the water off Menemsha village. Definitely will be back to this quintessential up-island retreat. ❤️

Resuming my wife's life-long love affair with Martha's Vineyard after a hiatus of several years, we found ourselves a 10-day vacation home at the Menemsha Inn, occupying a tidy cottage on the grounds with spectacular sunsets to the west. The staff was courteous, easily engaged and always helpful. A short, pleasant hike down to Dutcher Dock in Menemsha and short drives to Aquinnah (Gay Head), Chilmark- Beetlebung Corner, lazy beach afternoons at Lucy Vincent, crafts at the fair in West Tisbury brought up many happy memories. High on our "will return" list.

Wonderful hospitality, the staff is lovely and helpful. Room was clean and comfortable. MV Menemsha's night sky is amazing. The beach path and boardwalk were beautiful. The beach Plum breakfast was delicious. Such a cozy place. ' Going back next year!

Menemsha Inn exceeded my expectations! The hosts were so kind and helpful throughout the entire process. We stayed in the Tea Room which was VERY clean and had a great view. The canteen right nearby is so helpful with the best coffee, and snacks are also available for purchase. Beautiful walk down to the beach. If you plan on using Uber book them ahead, or just use the taxi service on the island which seemed to be way more convenient.|THANK you for a great stay!

During our first visit, we got the impression that the management/ownership weren't investing much in this special property. The breakfast menu was limited and they didn't offer lunch or dinner. The manager on duty was rarely at the front desk, and the beautiful outside veranda was always empty. This was great for us, but it reflects a missed opportunity for the property to better engage with its guests and provide more onsite services. It's an okay place with the potential to be a 5-star property.

Beautiful view of Vineyard Sound from our large, Carriage House 2nd floor room. Nice to have a pass to Lucy Vincent and Squibby beach in-season. The grounds are very quiet and peaceful. Room was pleasant with a couch and 2 chairs, but the king bed, was hard as a rock and a very uncomfortable sleep. Could hear next door neighbors thru the walls. The pay-from-the menu breakfast at the Beach Plum Inn had only two egg dishes and one yogurt parfait, same each day, expensive and not very good; their free "continental bfst" a farce - no cereal or fruit, just pastry, bagel, coffee and OJ. Building exteriors all need scraping and painting – the entire place could be a gem, but is in a sad, tired state of loving but benign neglect. But the location and view are incomparable and not matched by most inns on MV that have some kind of water view. So it's worth staying here if you like peace and quiet, and the beautiful rural Chilmark scenery.

Once again, another excellent week! This is our fifth year spending time in the Pilot House. Bob and Sarah Nixon know very well how to create an excellent escape. The space is a great blend of rustic and top-notch. The view is beautiful and the grounds serene but, above all else, the complex (including the Menemsha and the Beach Plum) is wonderfully run. Needs are met effortlessly, always with a smile and helping hand (thanks to Virginia and all!). We look forward to spending many more years in our "Same time next year" place.

The Beach Plum Inn was so incredibly lovely. They have outdoor sitting areas in several places and configurations to need everyone’s preferences and offer quiet areas to relax. They have assigned parking so you’re not getting home late searching for a space. The rooms are quaint and comfortable and ours had a balcony perfect for sipping morning coffee. The continental breakfast is perfect. The staff are helpful and friendly and we had an absolutely delightful time. Oh, and they can give you a pass to a private beach which was beautiful! Only good things to say about this place!!!!
