The 24 Best Things to Do in Bali

"Making up part of the West Bali National Park, Menjangan Island is a tiny, less-trodden gem eight miles off the northwestern coast of Bali. Nicknamed “Deer Island” for the numerous Javan rusa deer ambling about, it’s uncrowded and largely uninhabited, and its fringing coral reefs make it among the best diving and snorkeling spots in Greater Bali. What you'll like best on the island depends on whether you prefer your sightseeing above ground or below the water. On land, wild but approachable deer sashay around the island and take chest-high dips in the beach water. Plan to make a whole day of it. There are several tour packages for Menjangan Island, including a few 12-hour ones that offer convenient door-to-door transfers, and they tend to cover the park permit and guide. The commitment required is best justified for travelers willing to don snorkel gear or a scuba tank." - Travis Levius

Menjangan Island – Landmark Review | Condé Nast Traveler

"What’s the vibe here? Making up part of the West Bali National Park, Menjangan Island is a tiny, less-trodden gem eight miles off the northwestern coast of Bali. Nicknamed “Deer Island” for the numerous Javan rusa deer ambling about, it’s uncrowded and largely uninhabited, and its fringing coral reefs make it among the best diving and snorkeling spots in Greater Bali. Any standout features? What you'll like best on the island depends on whether you prefer your sightseeing above ground or below the water. On land, wild but approachable deer sashay around the island and take chest-high dips in the beach water. Snorkelers and divers will encounter some of the most vibrant coral and fish life in the Bali region, and several tour operators are available to whisk you to the best spots. Was it easy to get around? Tourists are required to have a park permit and a local guide with them all at times while visiting the island, so the chances of losing your way are nil. What—and who—is this best for? Plan to make a whole day of it. There are several tour packages for Menjangan Island, including a few 12-hour ones that offer convenient door-to-door transfers, and they tend to cover the park permit and guide. The commitment required is best justified for travelers willing to don snorkel gear or a scuba tank." - Travis Levius

Loving every corner of this Island! You could see the view of Mount Raung and Mount Ijen from here. There are also deers living in this Island as Menjangan means Deer. I think the fish here also friendly 😆 there is a group of small fish (10-12 fish) circling me around like more than 10 times when I was snorkeling. They literally followed me until I get back into my boat. The minus is around the Sri Ganesha Temple there are a few of trash. Please do take an action.

When you want to snorkel or dive this is a beautiful place to visit. Just book a tour and have a nice experience. And when you are lucky you may see a sea turtle beside the coral 🪸 where you find real colorful fish.

It’s a government protected island which means a lot of living coral and colorful fishes you can see while snorkeling and diving. It’s 30 minutes by boat to the island from Permuteran and you are not allowed to stay in the island as it’s protected. The snorkeling cost you around 350 and diving 600 thousands and I tel you, it’s worth every penny.

We did a day trip snorkelling from Naya Gawana Resort. Robert runs the dive centre there. He's a great guy and very generous. The snorkelling was excellent. A 40 minute boat trip with a guide. They also provided fruit for a snack between snorkels. We did two locations and both were great. Would recommend this location and the resort.

This small island is famous for its snorkeling spots and deers. You can reach this island from Banyuwangi in East Java and Bali by boat. There's a Hindu Temple on this island for the Balinese Hindu people to pray. The corals are pretty with numerous fish and other sea creatures.

Please read on... Are we talking about the island or the marine park? The island it's beautiful and so is the surrounding shore line. My reason is the extreme admission fee for tourists. Probably just as many local tourists from Java, (very very wealthy tourists) Local price (national) 10000 IDR or $1 AUD Tourist price 200000 IDR or $20 AUD, $30 at weekends per day..!! Thats 20-30 time more expensive. I am all for protecting the environment but I can't see where the money is going... elsewhere park fees have been for single of multiple days and you got a keyring as proof of payment which is nice. No one likes getting ripped off especially me so from that perspective I give it 3 stars. Today is Sunday and I am not diving there today. How do we even know the dive shops are declared every visitor! We have no token. Ok the marine park, yes very beautiful, so dived very similar to other parts of Bali, some I bit more interesting.. Not a great deal of marine life... plenty of the usual fish you see all over Indonesia.. but not as my creatures as I saw in Amed. Well worth a visit, but the park fees are a sting in the tail.
