The Best Things to Do in Bali, the Island of the Gods | Condé Nast Traveler
"Making up part of the West Bali National Park, Menjangan Island is a tiny, less-trodden gem eight miles off the northwestern coast of Bali. Nicknamed “Deer Island” for the numerous Javan rusa deer ambling about, it’s uncrowded and largely uninhabited, and its fringing coral reefs make it among the best diving and snorkeling spots in Greater Bali. What you'll like best on the island depends on whether you prefer your sightseeing above ground or below the water. On land, wild but approachable deer sashay around the island and take chest-high dips in the beach water. Plan to make a whole day of it. There are several tour packages for Menjangan Island, including a few 12-hour ones that offer convenient door-to-door transfers, and they tend to cover the park permit and guide. The commitment required is best justified for travelers willing to don snorkel gear or a scuba tank." - Julia Eskins

Any standout features?
What you'll like best on the island depends on whether you prefer your sightseeing above ground or below the water. On land, wild but approachable deer sashay around the island and take chest-high dips in the beach water. Snorkelers and divers will encounter some of the most vibrant coral and fish life in the Bali region, and several tour operators are available to whisk you to the best spots.
Was it easy to get around?
Tourists are required to have a park permit and a local guide with them all at times while visiting the island, so the chances of losing your way are nil.
What—and who—is this best for?

Such an amazing place in North Bali. It is hot but worth the effort. Takes 15 minutes boat ride from the harbor to this island.

When you want to snorkel or dive this is a beautiful place to visit. Just book a tour and have a nice experience. And when you are lucky you may see a sea turtle beside the coral 🪸 where you find real colorful fish.

Loving every corner of this Island! You could see the view of Mount Raung and Mount Ijen from here.
There are also deers living in this Island as Menjangan means Deer.
I think the fish here also friendly 😆 there is a group of small fish (10-12 fish) circling me around like more than 10 times when I was snorkeling. They literally followed me until I get back into my boat.
The minus is around the Sri Ganesha Temple there are a few of trash. Please do take an action.

It’s a government protected island which means a lot of living coral and colorful fishes you can see while snorkeling and diving. It’s 30 minutes by boat to the island from Permuteran and you are not allowed to stay in the island as it’s protected. The snorkeling cost you around 350 and diving 600 thousands and I tel you, it’s worth every penny.
