I had a great stay at Meramees Hostel and would definitely recommend it to budget travelers looking for a clean and friendly place to stay in Cairo. The room was simple but comfortable, and the bed was surprisingly good — firm and supportive, which made a real difference after long days of exploring the city.
One of the highlights for me was the cleanliness of both the room and the shared bathrooms. The toilets were well-maintained throughout my stay, which is not always the case with hostels in this price range. It felt like the staff put in effort to keep the common areas and facilities in good shape, and that added to the overall sense of comfort.
When I first arrived, the air conditioning in my room wasn’t working, which was a bit of a letdown considering the Cairo heat. However, the staff handled it well. After I mentioned it, they were responsive and got it repaired within a few days. I appreciated the fact that they didn’t brush off the issue and followed through with fixing it.
I especially want to mention Manga, one of the staff members. He was very helpful and attentive throughout my stay. Whether it was helping with directions, arranging transportation, or just checking in to see if I needed anything, Manga consistently made the experience more welcoming.
Overall, Meramees Hostel offers great value for money. It’s a no-frills kind of place, but it delivers on the things that matter most: a clean bed, decent amenities, and a staff that cares. I’d definitely stay here again next time I’m in Cairo.
