The food was excellent, reasonable, and very tasty. Such a lively local food court with freshly-made food. There are tables inside and outside. You order, pay, and take your food to your seats. Very good place to have lunch.

A great spot to try different local food and beer. The atmosphere is festive, but due to the crowd, it can feel a bit stuffy. On the right side, you’ll find a stand with delicious fresh fruit and juices run by two lovely older ladies.

Best octopus we got in Portugal! There is a seafood stall with incredible quality product at a really cheap prices, also loved the ones with fresh fruits. Trully recommended if you want to grab a fee bites and try different things.

This isn't really a market but a food court. They offer a great selection of different little restaurants with a big selection of Portugese food. We went for the seafood selection and got some oysters and octopus. Only downside is, that it is a little crowded and doesn't offer enough seating. The food was really good and we enjoyed it in combination with some wine from the region. You should check out this place !

Mercado Beira Rio is Porto’s lively food playground—packed with fresh flavors and local vibes. Perfect for a quick, honest bite. A true hidden gem.

I recently visited Mercado Beira-Rio, located on the Gaia side of the Douro River in Vila Nova de Gaia, and it offered a lively and authentic food-hall atmosphere. The renovated 1904 marketplace blends historical charm with modern design—open wooden beams, warm lighting, and communal tables create a welcoming vibe. The market offers diverse food stalls and wine and beer counters, all under one roof. I sampled fresh seafood bites, artisanal cheeses, and vegetables—all affordable and conveniently portioned for sharing . It’s ideal for casual gatherings: you grab a drink, pick a few bites, and enjoy them at a shared table beside locals and tourists alike . What stood out was the balance between market tradition and contemporary food culture. Produce stands and meat/cheese counters share space with tapas-style stalls and a beer corner, making it easy to mix and match flavours . During my visit, I enjoyed a crisp glass of Portuguese wine with cheese and charcuterie, followed by a small seafood dish—all while soaking in the convivial energy and occasional live music that brings life here . Mercado Beira-Rio is open daily for both retail and dining (traditional stands open early morning; food stalls serve from 11 AM to 10 PM) . Whether you're in the mood for a quick bite, a shared meal, or exploring local flavours, it's a vibrant, accessible spot worth visiting.

It’s a food center, no fruit/ vegetable stands. Price on average is 15-20$ per person. Many places to sit but the AC is a bit too weak for a hot day.

Medium sized food court at the Villa Nova de Gaia side of Duoro River. Offers selections of fresh juices, wines, beers, vegan, seafood and meat dishes. Food: We went here on 2 ocassions. First time tried the vegan buffet. Stear clear from it. Dishes are not well seasoned and some of them seemed stale. We do recommend the pizza place which made great tasting batch for us. Service: Everybody treated patrons very well. There are staff that clean each table as well. Ambiance: Food court feel. Lots of benches and tables at the center. Water closets available. Value: Prices were reasonable for the quality of food and service. Buffet is 12 Euros, Personal Pizza from 8 to 10 Euros. Although there are only a few stops that we liked, I recommended the space for groups that tend to have differences in food preferences.

Yelp
This small food hall has great Portuguese regional choices. The food here is great! So many tourists in Gaia from Porto and hardly any were in this food hall. It was mainly locals eating here, which was okay with me. They had seafood, cured meats, port, beer, rice dishes and pastries. If this was the only place I could eat from for the rest of my life; then, I would be just fine. As a matter of fact, I would be very happy! I had fresh oysters, prosunto, gambas al alho, smoked salmon, several types of port (flight tasting), vino verde, several types of chorizo, and several types of cheese. Every vendor specialized in a certain type of local food. There was very little overlap in offerings. Many local dishes were on the different menus including a vendor that sold vegetarian renditions of local dishes. Once you cross the bridge from Porto, follow the strip of port houses all the way down to where the strip ends and you have arrived at this food hall. There are no big signs indicating a food hall. As a matter of fact, I thought it was a building full of gift shops. I am very glad that I made the mistake of stepping into this building. I highly recommend this food hall and so will your stomach afterwards! I left here very happy and full! I wanted to try everything, but stomach size constraints didn't allow me to. I loved it here. Because I could eat such a large array of dishes in one place, my meal here was my most memorable in the Porto vicinity.

Yelp
Variety of food and drink selections that offered meals. cheese and meat boards, wine flights and even frest fuit cups and juice. Good value at low to moderately priced options. Service was quick. Not sure though if food trays/dishes are to be returned to the vendor, after my friend did we saw a tray cart at the end of the hall. My friend was happy with his all you can eat vegetarian food from Daterra for a mid day lunch. While I had a refreshing fresh dragonfruit juice.

Yelp
This food hall reminds me of the open markets in Spain. Lots of different food stalls and open seating inside. It's just off the water so if you wish to eat a little more casual than the restaurants along the river. I think the prices are a little elevated because they are in the touristy area along the Douro but I think less than the more formal sit down restaurants in the surrounding area. There's a good chance you'll find something on your list but if you're looking for an item from a specific restaurant then you probably won't find it here.

Yelp
First night in Porto. We went in as many of the shops were closing up 21:45. So happy we did. Lots of the shops had closed but we were able to get a bottle of wine from the burger place and a pizza from across the hall. Dinner for 2 under 15€ Planning to go back after our port tastings.

Yelp
Nice indoor market with food vendors and stands. Lots of options. Prices are high and very touristy. Came here for quick grub before my wine cellar tour. The market is a convert from a big warehouse. Everything is super new and modern, lots of food vendors in the open airy area. It's definitely for the tourists and very commercialized. I ordered some small bites from 3 of the stands and the food was very delicious. The suckling pig place was great! Must try! The sausages from the meat stand was also really delicious. Overall lots of choices and it's very clean.

Yelp
A great spot for lunch when across the river from Porto and out hitting the Port wine houses. Many good choices for lunch and for drinks - a full range of restaurants to select from. A big plus if you are in a hurry since it is self-serve, no wait staff. I picked a place (Forno Do Leitao do Ze) that served suckling pig and it was fantastic. The pork actually melted in my mouth. I thought I was on one of those food shows where the host has an orgasmic reaction to the food. It was really that good. Others in our group picked their own items at this food-court like set up - none were as good as the pork. A great choice for lunch!
