Whenever I’m traveling I love to visit markets to see the local fresh produce. The interior aisles of this bustling market offer the best selection of fresh fish and seafood that I have ever seen. Most of the exterior stalls offer lovely meats and cheeses, plus there are many bars to enjoy drinks and tapas. If you sit at one of the bars’ outdoor tables you need to spend some money there, after which they’re comfortable with you buying from elsewhere and bringing it back to your table. A vibrant, fun place to visit, eat & drink, and people watch.

Great market, Being by the Atlantic, the fish and shellfish here are incredibly fresh. From tuna to prawns, every bite is a taste of the ocean—your taste buds will thank you! One of the best markets I have ever been

Amazing, somewhat authentic experience of a bigger town's municipal market. Beyond the plentiful sellers of fresh meat, fish and veggies, there are many stalls with specialty products and prepared foods. Some seating available. The day I was there, they were not on top of garbage collection, and I didn't see any recycling bins despite the large amount of bottles and plastics. A dazzling and fun experience, if you can handle the crowds!

How you rate this depends on when you go. Saturday sees it teaming with people eating and drinking at the various stalls which have bar stools and table top eating "station" dotted around the area and finding a place to sit can prove difficult. Oddly though, you have to be careful where you buy your drinks if sitting down. You can buy your food from anywhere but not your drinks and if you buy from somewhere you shouldn't someone will come and tell you off. Sunday to Tuesday it is much quieter. Fruit and vegetable stalls and fish stalls open but many of the food stalls are not and all the seating is packed away. Wednesday sees it open again but not as busy as Saturday. Food is tapas style..ie, small portions..and reasonable in quality. The area is clearly popular with the locals who seem to drink heavily but sensibly.. For grocery shopping, the market is open everyday (I think, although Sunday.might be limited) but for drinks and food and atmosphere, Wednesday to Saturday.

It was 9 am, the market has just opened, not just a place to buy food, more like a part of cultural Cadiz life....loads of fresh fish and seafood, and small cafes to try the products from the market...

This fabulous and bustling marketplace has an astonishing selection of fresh fish, fruits and regional meats and it showcases the freshest local produce, seafood, and meats in Andalusia. The stalls are overflowing with glistening fish and seafood. The atmosphere is lively and energetic. There are lots of places to eat and drink at very reasonable prices. Tip: Get there in the morning though, as it shuts down after lunch.
