Why Lisbon's Culinary Scene Rivals Europe's Best Food Cities - AFAR

"An early-morning market where fishmongers display the morning catch in a glistening array of fish and shellfish, setting the stage for seafood-focused lunches and the town’s broader ocean-centric culinary scene." - AFAR

3 Best Day Trips from Lisbon | Condé Nast Traveler

"Mercado da Vila is a recently revamped 1952 building that now houses a buzzing market with dozens of produce stalls, restaurants, and culinary shops. A rotating roster of food stalls and pop-ups includes seasonal produce, salads, grilled fish, and sandwiches. Come during the summer or on weekends, and you’ll likely encounter live music. Communal picnic tables on a leafy promenade offer an ideal spot to catch your breath—and a bite—between sightseeing activities." - Jenna Scatena

Very cool concept, they have a fish area where you pick out what fresh fish you want and you pick how you would like it cooked. Fish was super fresh, service was amazing and the Sangria was very good. Overall we loved it

This place is amazing. My first time here and it's great to explore all the local fresh produce. Great selection of fruits, vegetables, eggs, cheese and flowers. There is also a fish market which is separate from the main part, which is brilliant so the smell is contained. Definitely worth checking out. There's also an outdoor area surrounded by cafes and chocolate shops. There are seating there as well.

Amazing place to do groceries. Some accepts cards over 10€ but generally I suggest you to bring cash. You can find variety of fruits, vegetables dried fruits & plants. I bought bell peppers plant to grow in my small garden 3€ /12 pieces super cheap. I also purchased, grapes, cherry tomatoes, corn, fig, watermelon, mango etc. People are so friendly. Inside is little bit hot in summer but still tolerable. This market works: Wednesdays, Saturdays & Sundays usually till 2 PM.

Mercado da Vila loosely translates into village market and it has everything that a typical local market would have: fresh produce : fruit and vegetable and an excellent choice too; local meats (local.chorozi is worth trying) and fresh fish and oh.... Such a great choice of cheeses (so worth trying !!! ). You can also find a selection of locallyy produced goods: jewellery (as you would expect of a seaside town) wicker products, and olive oil and olives, local honey. It's the only place that we found a local spicy cheese that my partner loves which is made of goat and sheep and only available there and it is a treat! There are plenty cafes and places inside of the market that you can sit and enjoy coffe or your pastries and it does have a nice atmosphere to enjoy and relax. The prices are a bit high as it seems that it has been turned a bit into a local attraction. Having said this, should I ever stay close to the market it would be my place for some food shopping. Highly recommend, even if just to soaking up the energy of a bust local market.

Lots of fresh produce, flowers, seafood and meat to buy on weekends. You can also buy some food from the shops at the food court and sit down and enjoy.

A very pleasant atmosphere, a real Mediterranean market. For me, it gave a more authentic impression of Portuguese gastronomy than the Time Out Market in Lisbon. There, 75% of your experience is finding a seat. It's worth walking around with a glass of wine in hand to take in all the sights.

I absolutely had so much fun at this market. We came here on a Sunday and there was even vendors selling secondhand goods and clothes, new clothes, and handmade items. I am not sure if that happens every Sunday but it was so much fun to walk through all the stalls. Highly recommend coming here on your visit to Cascais!

Yelp
Our go to place for fresh organic fruits and vegetables. Great place to get fresh fish as well or just for a coffee with friends.
