Mercado San Benito isn’t just a market—it’s an experience. It’s big, it’s bustling, and it’s got everything. Think of it as the Costco or Super Walmart of regional markets, attached to Mercado Lucas de Gálvez. Walk out of Galvez, and boom—you’re in Benito.
This place is a maze of vendors selling fruit next to shoes, next to tacos, next to cell phones. Not a flea market (everything’s new), but it’s got that chaotic, treasure-hunt vibe. Feeling hungry? Don’t hesitate—food here is clean, delicious, and dirt cheap.
Pro tip: The market is huge and organized by sections—candy with candy, shoes with shoes, butchers with butchers. It can feel overwhelming, but everyone’s polite, and the prices? Unreal.
Must-tries: Cochinita pibil (slow-roasted pork heaven) and a Jamaica juice (refreshing hibiscus drink). you can visit every day and barely scratch the surface!
I was fascinated by the people watching as for the food and offerings. I hope you enjoy!!
