Google
An excellent place. We’ve tried many various types of breakfast and each single one was really delicious. Toast on crispy bread with goat cheese, jam and walnuts was my favourite, oatmeal full of local fruit, delicate scrambled eggs with aromatic, crispy bacon, soft pancakes with greek yogurt… All those with aromatic fresh juice or coffee (pistachio latte was incredible) The portions were large enough. The service was very friendly, the interior - classic and modern at the same time - it was a perfect beginning of the day 🤩

Went there for breakfast. Had each some toasted bread (salmon and avocado/egg) + Cappuccino and fresh juice. The toasts were very nice, service and location also made us feel very welcomed. It‘s only four stars, since it‘s nothing super special, done very well, still nothing that sticks. Nevertheless would go there anytime again.

Google
Very busy on a weekend morning, salmon toast was not bad, bread was crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. Salmon was not overly salty. Flat white was excellent.

We enjoyed a delicious brunch here on the busy Flores street. All the tables were full but they offered us their exclusive outdoor terrace at the back (patio basically). Waitress was super friendly and all the food was really delicious, and served very promptly. They clearly run a very professional operation and the food and drinks/juices were really outstanding. Highly recommended.

Google
Avoid. Disappointing despite coming in without much expectations for a place in this location. Food was really bland, linguine had NO sauce, and would you call it eggs Benedict if it’s on a slice of toast instead of English muffins? absolute tourist trap.

Google
Adorable breakfast/brunch and lunch spot. Place was packed on a Tuesday and Wednesday around 1:30pm, but we lucked out and grabbed a spot for two inside without waiting. They have a very good menu, it’s a bit pricey, compared to other spots in Porto for same style dishes, but really fresh salads and all the breakfasts served looked huge and delicious. I would come back for key lime pie!

Google
we came to this location every day that we were in porto, and we loved it so much! the staff is so friendly and the food delicious. we loved the fresh orange juice and the eggs and toast!!!

Came here as a tourist once. Was slightly busy during brunch hours, had to wait about 5 to 10 minutes for a seat. Waiter was not the most cheerful person compared to other restaurants in Portugal but maybe it was a busy morning. Ordered the smoked salmon with egg Benedict however the egg Benedict was slightly hard on the yolk closer to hard boiled side rather than runny. Taste otherwise was good. Could have just been a busy day and otherwise should be a great place for brunch too.

Yelp
The best breakfast spot in Porto. Perfectly cooked poached egg. The bacon was delicious and the Lionese waffle was incredible! The wait staff is fast, friendly and efficient. We sat by the front window and thoroughly enjoyed the people watching. The pastel de nata rivals the best tarts in Belem. If there is a line at this place, get in it.

Yelp
Mercador Cafe was one of the awesome dining experiences I had when I was in Porto! The food was both aesthetically and palate pleasing that I really wished I had another chance to go back and dine there again! Their menu consisted of food that sounded like just normal breakfast food but I was so impressed with the way they prepared and served the food! Mine was just an Acai Power Bowl..but wow...lots of thoughts and fresh ingredients went into it! It was so refreshing to have that as breakfast! I also loved the Lattella...a nice take on Latte, with a touch of Nutella in it! Hmm..I would totally have both again! The only thing I wished they had was...the blueberry cheesecake!! They had just carrot cake and didn't have the cheesecake that I was eye-ing when I went there! But..honestly, I don't think you could go wrong with anything you eat at Mercador Cafe at all! Note: the place got packed fast! I was there within 10 minutes of opening and there was just a few tables left! By the time it was 20-25 minutes in from opening time, every table was full and people were waiting outside!

Yelp
Great place for breakfast. Among the very best scrambled eggs I've had. Friendly and attentive staff, convenient location. Highly recommend.

Chelsea H.

Yelp
We had a delicious brunch here. The service was fast and friendly. Beautiful decor and ambiance. Yummy fresh juice. The eggs were cooked perfectly; very soft. I highly recommend this cafe.

Tammy T.

Yelp
Fresh delicious and perfectly seasoned! The service was warm and welcoming. Great location and thoughtful decor. Overall, a great experience. Highly recommend.

Payton M.

Yelp
Average service and food. Great brunch choices and iced coffee though. Also on great spot on flores street. The servers were always walking around but didn't give us much attention when needed.

Bruce C.

Yelp
Breakfast is an easy thing to make, so it's the meal I eat least when traveling. But I walked several blocks in the rain due to the reviews for this place, and it was well worth it! Great music, great staff, fun interior, and clever, fresh, delicious food!

Yelp
Mercado Cafe is a cute little cafe on Flowers street. There are quite a few other cafes offering similar fare along this pedestrian street. Came in for a quick bite and coffee. The ambiance felt nice and they had a couple open tables. The interior is a bit bigger than some of the other cafes. I liked that they offered a variety of beverages and small plates of brunch food. We ordered a mozzarella toast that was pretty basic, but delicious. It was a little on the expensive side relative to other Portugal prices, but standard for US prices. The service was ok, a little slow, but at least we didn't feel rushed.

Bita A.

Yelp
Great food great service. Very friendly environment. Good selection of tequilas and mezcal.

Linda W.

Yelp
Really cute place that we found on our last day in Porto. Would have definitely eaten here again if in Porto again. Lots of fun ceramic coffee mugs and espresso cups to enjoy perusing or purchase. I was really wanting eggs and bacon after all our European breakfasts. Found it here and it was delicious! Also ordered fruit bowl on the side and it was full of a nice variety of fruits. Desserts like the blueberry cheesecake looked yummy but we were too full to order one. Try this place it's a little off the main tourist strip and well worth it!

Charles E V.

Yelp
Twice in 2 days. Excellent service. Fast and courteous. Servings are huge Benedicts with a twist.Avocado toasts as well. Will come back when in Porto.

Rebecca C.

Yelp
Really great brunch spot! Their bread was both soft and crunchy and they had this Sunrise juice that was a blend of fresh squeezed orange and carrot, ginger, and turmeric. Also their mugs are made of really beautiful ceramic.

Andrei K.

Yelp
We were taking here by a friend we were meeting in Porto, who is a native, to try some local food, and darn was it good! First of all, the internal decoration is sublime and definitely a tasteful throw-back to the early 20th century. The servers are quick and nice and very helpful as to the choice of dishes, wine or general information. You can hear yourself inside and conduct a conversation without having to scream; which is quite nice! The food itself is pretty amazing. We went for the two most typical dishes - Bacalau and octopus. Both were extremely delicious and filling and went well with the Vinho Verde of the house we were recommended (which was pretty delicious by itself btw). Their deserts were pretty great as well! Among other things we took the pastel de Nata as a base reference, and it had both a nice taste and a nice texture; being overall great. Overall, it's a really enjoyable location with tasty food, surprisingly located in one of the most touristy locations of Porto. And a great place to visit!

Wilma R.

Yelp
Very cute lil' cafe with a lot of different options for breakfast/brunch. I had their eggs benny and it was pretty filling.

Gunveer D.

Yelp
The waffles are great!!! We ordered Benedict and white omelette with goat cheese, and latella for drink. I think the waffle was 4.7/5. Rest of food and drinks was good too, 4.1/5. Ambience is nice! Would come back for banana dulce waffle - banoffe !!!!

Muddassir M.

Yelp
Wonderful place for brunch in Porto, the food, service and the atmosphere are all top notch. Great classic brunch selections with local fare added to the menu. Highly recommend Mercador Cafe for good food and people watching.

Mike N.

Yelp
Phenomenal breakfast in a wonderfully decorated cafe with easily the best pastel de nata in Porto

Parker S.

Yelp
This was our first breakfast experience in Porto! My fiancé had the Prego (steak sandwich) and I had the Açaí bowl! Both were so yummy, and looked delicious. Service is wonderful and the wait staff is so friendly! We went twice and sat inside and outside and both were very enjoyable. It feels just like a classic breakfast cafe! Would definitely go again!

Pat T.

Yelp
Love everything about this place! Food, people, ambiance, coffee, prices, etc.! Just make sure you get there early! We arrived 15 minutes before it opened and they seated us at 5 minutes before "official" opening (9 am). By 9:20 the place was packed with a line out the door!!

Mindy N.

Yelp
We were there twice last week for brunch - twice because the first time was delightful. The space is lovely, decorated with mugs, dishware and coffee that is all available for purchase. The food is excellent and the service is very congenial.

Milena O.

Yelp
Breakfast of champions! We needed a break from Portuguese style breakfast. This place gave us an American option with Portuguese quality eggs, exceptional bread, fresh produce and of course the best in bacon imaginable! Coffee latte was hot and similar to an American portion. Although often lacking in Europe, customer service was great when prompted, as usual. We had the avocado scramble, 2 egg any style plate and omelette. All exceptional and made to our order.

Geanr L.

Yelp
By far the best breakfast in Portugal , by head & shoulders. Waffles (gotta ask for butter & syrup) perfect poached eggs and delicious bacon. Juice of the day was some kind of unique pineapple blend. Sherryls Portuguese French toast had a egg cream custard on top. It too was delicious. Full menu brings us back tomorrow for fancy stacked toasts, , fruit cups and flavored yogurts.

Lena B.

Yelp
Nice ambiance, friendly staff, food was a little pricey for what it was. Eggs Benedicts were very simply plated but they were good. Cheeseburger came on English muffins instead of buns which was kinda weird but still good. Fries were banging though. Overall, it was aight.

Claire S.

Yelp
We almost didn't stop by because it was crowded but I'm so glad we did. We were almost immediately seated and given menus. Our orders were taken quickly, and the food arrived very fast. It was pricey, but I think the quality of food and atmosphere was worth it.

Jimmy H.

Yelp
Been here a few times for light food and tea. The ambiance is romantic and intimate, great for a couple or small group. A good amount of locals here. Surprisingly quiet cafe. Even when almost full, the noise level stays pretty reasonable; maybe there aren't enough Americans like me to make it obnoxiously loud! The staff is efficient and courteous, and they speak decent English. WiFi is free and reliable. The tea service is good, and I had the toast a couple of times. First time was just toast and olive oil, and it was beautifully executed. I could go on and on about the quality of the bread, the crispiness, the taste of the olive oil, and well, heck, who doesn't love warm toast and olive oil? The second was toast with goat cheese, pumpkin jam, and walnut, which seemed a bit peculiar reading it on the menu, but it was lovely to taste. They have bakery goods, including some pastries, such as pastel de natas. Bathrooms: Two, one in back and then there's another one in the little courtyard at the back, the brown door. That one is rather cute and more spacious. All are well-maintained and functional.

Yelp
This place was a great find, I'll start with the service. Goao our server was the best. Right from the start he made us feel welcome with a warm friendly greeting....(don't get many of these in some European restaurants) nevertheless it was greatly appreciated to say the least. He started with the beverage orders, Americano for me, OJ for wifey, Bananas Smoothie and water for my sons. I must say the Americano hit the spot on this chilly morning. (I ordered another one, no free coffee refills here guys lol) The food was spectacular, I had the goats cheese toast with walnuts and preserves and man was it good. Sons had the steak burger with homemade chips and the other a Cacao Bowl....I wanted to get bite of that steak burger, but when I looked up, he was licking his fingers as the burger was longer on his plate. I'll close with, this is a must try when visiting Porto you won't be disappointed. Oh yeah price points are in line with the quality of food and service, you get your money's worth here.

Yelp
I am updating this review because I subsequently found out that they lied to me because I am a tourist and told me they don't take credit cards. They refused to take my credit card and insisted they only took cash and eventually said they would take PayPal. I subsequently found out they do take credit cards and only pulled that shenanigans because I am American. I am sick and tired of traveling and having businesses pretend they don't take credit cards when they do. Porto: excellent cafe for brunch! It's tucked on a quiet street with lots of shopping. The brunch menu is diverse with lots of healthy options. Highly recommend the fruit bowl and avocado toast.

Jeff K.

Yelp
Great place in Porto if you're craving a real breakfast beyond pastries. I had been jonesing for a Benedict and they have them. If you're looking for breakfast potatoes you might find theirs a bit different. All they seemed to have were house made potato chips. They were actually pretty good with our breakfasts. Coffee was up to Portugal standards.

Matt B.

Yelp
The food here was perfect and the service was great. The pancakes with the dulce de leche were the star, as was the pastel de nata.

Lynn F.

Yelp
Great breakfast! We oreldered eggs Benedict, which was excellent. The sauce is light and tasty. We also ordered bacon, eggs, w/ toast, avocado & tomatoes. The toast comes dipped in olive oil, just in case you're expecting butter. Also had a pastel de nata which was excellent. The OJ was fresh and the coffee was delicious! Cute cafe atmosphere. Inside and outside seating. The service is excellent as well. I highly recommend this place and will likely come back while we're here.

Stevie D.

Yelp
Waffles were amazing! Place was hopping and service was still so fast! Great music and enjoyable place to get breakfast. Definitely recommend!

Willie W.

Yelp
Wow, this place boasts some of the greatest ambiance and vibes you'll ever find!! The food is absolutely unequivocally delicious, plus the service is outstanding!!! A must try!!

Joy R.

Yelp
Food and service were excellent and good value. Great central location to all attractions.

Yazmin Y.

Yelp
Not a bad place to grab brunch. Ordered a simple bacon and egg dish which was a bit smaller than I expected. The drink wasn't the way I had hoped to be. Normally it's completely cold but they made it as if it was a americano with ice.

Vinh B.

Yelp
The Mercador Cafe had one of the best steaks I've ever had. It was so tender, juicy, and cooked to perfection. The waiter was funny and said he didn't eat seafood, but his favorite was the steak and steak sandwich. He was 100% right with his suggestions. Highly recommend this restaurant.

Michele C.

Yelp
What a great find -- all thanks to Yelp. The four of us went for breakfast today, right when they opened at 9 (we've realized things are a bit later to open in Porto than we are used to in California). It's a great breakfast place with a lot of options for all our party. Two each had a rainbow bowl and they loved it. I had Scrambled eggs and spinach (Popeye eggs) which were what you would expect. My partner had Eggs in the oven which he really liked mostly because it was unusual. And the side of toast he got was enough for the 2 of us to share (more like a crusty bread loaf then sandwich bread). For drinks, the lattes were good, not great, and the hot chocolate really seemed like melted chocolate in a teacup. Was way too rich for my liking, but I am sure others will love it. As the hot chocolate got cooler, the chocolate got thicker which make me think I really did just drink a candy bar! Nice place for breakfast and I would certainly recommend it.

Rosa G.

Yelp
The food here is excellent! Quality is exceptional. We ordered mushroom toast and Rainbow bowl, which both were quite exquisite. And, if you're particular about lattes, it was also quite lovely :)

Pri T.

Yelp
Went to this cute looking cafe in Porto Portugal because of the great reviews. Ordered the eggs Benedict because the pics looked good. It was terrible!! See the pic. I'm talking literally Kraft singles and a deli slice with no seasoning. The fruit and yogurt looked good. But come on this was not acceptable.

Tahni C.

Yelp
Love the interior! Combined an old school European feel with a modern relaxed atmosphere. The service was pretty quick compared to other places we've been and they were super nice. Serving us breakfast even after it was past the hour they stop serving breakfast. :) good coffee! Egg white omelette and yogurt parfait were both delicious.

Chris P.

Yelp
Great cafe in Porto, excellent location, had a wonderful salad and beer. Would highly recommend.

Yelp G.

Yelp
Great discovery for breakfast. Good service. Baked "omelet" was outstanding and the scrambled eggs were perfect. We are two Americans who travel to enjoy food and new experiences.

Neal P.

Yelp
Enjoyed lunch here and Hanna was a great server. She was very knowledgeable about the menu and and the service overall was great! Came in with low expectations as the last couple places with good reviews didn't turn out to be all that. Nice, quaint, and cozy atmosphere. Started with the rainbow bowl. Was a great mix of flavors. I'm usually not a fan of banana flavor but this was delicious. It had passion fruit in it and I asked a random server what it was. She asked if I liked it and brought me a plate full more. I had the chicken toast with mushrooms. Definitely recommend it. Wasn't too large of a meal and it hit the spot. My wife ordered the vegetarian burger (plenty of options for vegetarians). She's not a huge fan of quinoa and avocado but she thought it was delicious. Highly recommend.

Amir H.

Yelp
Great food and friendly staff. We came here two times during our stay in Porto. The food is always fresh and the process are reasonable. We have their toasts and salads multiple times and every time they were fresh and refreshing.

Marek P.

Yelp
What a great start of the day in Cafe Mercador (Merchant)! We followed the previous recommendations and ordered an egg omelet which turned out ultra delicious. They were suitably accompanied with bread (real one, plus we could observe a delivery from a local bakery). The carrot juice with orange and ginger was a pleasant surprise - cafes in London sell a shot of quarter the size for double the price. Nice espresso with milk called Pingo - for less than one Euro (in retrospect - this was the best Pingo we tasted in Portugal!). Wonderful place, great food, reasonable prices and nice people - what more to wish for!

Rafee H.

Yelp
Great cafe, the waffles and eggs were spectacular! Great service and atmosphere, very reasonably priced also!

Reba T.

Yelp
Came here for breakfast on a Wednesday morning around 10am. It was busy but we got a table right away. Staff was friendly but our poor waiter seemed overwhelmed. We had the yogurt+granola, the egg white with spinach, a latte, and watermelon juice. All good, though portions could be a tad bigger :)

Tara C.

Yelp
Breakfast at Mercador Cafe was a delight! "Eggs in the Oven" gave no details on the menu but turned out to be a small bowl with a bed of marinated mushrooms and spinach on the bottom with a well cooked egg on top the rustic bread was thick slices of buttered toast with crisp crust. The service was personable and setting was updated traditional.

Alysa C.

Yelp
I could eat here all day everyday. Best egg white omelet I've had EVER. Great menu all around. I stayed here for breakfast and lunch....

J T.

Yelp
Inviting friendly cafe good for light breakfast. Toasts, croissants, eggs, pastries. Open and airy near Intercontinental Hotel. Good espresso drinks.
