Following a Funeral mass and interment ceremony, I wanted somewhere for family and friends to meet up and celebrate our beloved's passing.
Fate, fortune or divine intervention parked us up at Mercantile. Elaine loved to walk down to the Perry Avenue bridge, over the Silvermine river and watch the waterfall. Now we all gathered with a saddened heart to celebrate her life.
The calm beauty of the location, the peaceful ambience of the interior and the attentive, friendly, and helpful service, took my mind away from sadder thoughts.
The food was excellent. Well prepared, tasty and fresh. We worked our way through the menu, light salads, kissful quiche, the teas and coffees and the wines. I had the Cava. They could not sell me a bottle but we drank two bottles, I am sure. In all we were seven and stayed there for about 4 hours. Less than $50 per person, including a hearty tip. It was deserved.
We arrived as distraught strangers and left as welcome friends.
I noticed singles working and groups of friends catching up.
Next time I'm passing, I'll stop in. I am sure it will be for more than a cup of tea .
