"Livorno's Mercato Centrale is one of the oldest and busiest markets in Europe. The inside is bright and airy, thanks to high ceilings and arched windows, while iron trusses, finely decorated in a floral motif, are a main focal point of the interior. There are few food items that you can't find here: beautiful olives, cheese, cured meats, and breads, plus freshly ground aromatic espresso and pastries to tuck into for breakfast. Visiting the Mercato was one of the highlights and top experiences we had in Livorno, a city we really enjoyed. Fantastic array of fresh and other food stuffs, from cheese and wine, to seafood and sweet treats. Stallholders were very friendly and helpful. We visited twice to do 'proper' shopping for our holiday accommodation pantry. Overall really good value and lots of local and different produce and products all under one roof. Whilst we did nt, there's also a number of cafes or kiosks where you can have a snack or lunch.

We mainly came to use the free washrooms in the market. It's a bit old. But it's also a good experience for us to walk around this local market. The free wifi service didn't work for us, though. Couldn't figure out how to register for it because the language was Italian.

A great market for food, espresso, limoncello, pastries abs a whole lot more. Wonderful market and highly recommended.

Very nice market, nice to go early morning when it's quiet. Good mix of fresh vegetables, meat, fish, cheese and all types of bread. A few are empty but still a nice experience. Nice to see all the fresh seafoods. Closed on Sunday but also on Monday the activity is low(er) and pretty limited choice so avoid going on a Monday.

We walked around the market this early afternoon (noon) on a Monday & found many more shops than expected based on some of the reviews here. We got pork, fish, fruit, vegetables, garum (colatura di alici) & truffle oil. We made a good dinner from it & will come back tomorrow to find cinque e cinque.

Awesome Market! You will find everything here. Lots of fresh meat, cheese, fish, pasta, veggies and fruits. It is nice to have a chat with the people who explain the origin of their products. You will find special olive oil here in super high quality from Toscana and italy.
