We had the pleasure of staying at the Mercer Hotel for a few days of R&R right after New Years. Pleasantly surprised by the beautiful high ceiling rooms complete with spectacular showers and topped off with fabs staff. Located right above the Mercer Kitchen, it’s location downtown was perfect and central to shops and other restaurants. Check in was easy and Theresa was super helpful answering all of our questions. We also had the pleasure of 2 super delish dinners at the Mercer accompanied by great service from Michelle and Cass. You can’t go wrong with staying at the Mercer the next time you come to Stratford!

My wife and I stayed at the Mercer Hotel for our anniversary. Upon check-in, we were given two glasses of sprinkling wine for our special occasion. The staff were friendly, informed and helpful. The rooms were perfect. The location was in the middle of downtown Stratford. Close to everything you needed. I would recommend this hotel and will be back for a future stay.

Great location for a theatre stay in Stratford. No elevator, but staff will help with bags if needed. First night we were awakened at 6AM by our neighbours TV up loud. Theresa was awesome responding to our concerns and next night was fine. Older charming building, so walls pretty thin. Breakfast was terrific. Would recommend.

Lovely room with great amenities and it is close to everything downtown which is perfect. Everything we wanted to do was walkable and very convenient to get to from here. Close walk to the theatre and to great restaurants like lovage and Elizabeth. Staff + service was great and parking is $15 a night Only thing that left a bit to be desired was the poor water pressure (might be better in other rooms) and the rooms at the back may be noisy (209 but maybe 206-209). We stayed in 209 and there was lots of loud noises (might have been kitchen exhaust fan or something?) which woke me up however my husband wasn’t bothered by it. Other rooms may be quieter. Room was large, bed was very comfy and the bathtub was great and the room had nice lighting so overall I would still rebook.

Great 14 room boutique hotel in the core downtown area, close proximity to several dining, pubs and retail establishments. 5 minute walk to the Avon Theater. Parking ($15 daily) specific to the number of hotel rooms, directly behind the hotel off Cobourg Street. Rooms are very comfortable, king premier in our case, with all amenities desired. Bar fridge microwave, Nespresso, kettle, fireplace, lots of comfortable pillows and quiet area. Note stairs to rooms 2 & 3rd floors. Superb bar and restaurant main floor at entrance to hotel. We will return.

Stayed at the Mercer Hotel for the first time over the winter holidays and was impressed with the spacious rooms, soaker tub, and comfortable bed. Food in the restaurant was delicious as well. Would strongly recommend.

Beautiful room, very considerate access to drinks, snacks. The best restaurants right on the ground floor. My son had a good time on the snow beside the river.

We stayed here for one night as we were seeing a show. The room was very big, super clean and the bed was SO comfy. Walking distance to attractions and having parking was great. Would definitely stay here again. Staff were friendly and courteous.

Yelp
My friends were interested in a B&B but since I like cleanliness and privacy, they kindly selected a hotel in the heart of the Stratford community for us. Mercer Hotel is a small, mom-and-pop type hotel that sits atop a popular bar/restaurant. The hotel is located in front of the river, a good landmark to follow to get to the theater. My room was quite spacious, with a view of the main drag. The bathroom was small though. My friends' was considerably smaller and darker - we both paid the same price. We were all settled in before we discovered the difference; I would have offered to trade otherwise. The room included the requisite desk and flat-screen TV. As well, I liked the very comfy chairs in room, perfect for reading or doing the mini crossword on the NYT app. The hotel was in close proximity to coffee and shopping - is there anything more that is needed on a weekend? I appreciate that we were allowed to book only one day of the weekend. It seemed that many hotels wanted to maximize profits with guests for the entire weekend. Our room generously included parking in a nearby lot. Check-in occurred behind the bar. It seemed a bit chaotic contributing to a clerical error - I was charged for both mine and my friend's rooms. A few other things to note: (1) the bed was harder than what I am accustomed to and (2) there is no elevator.

Yelp
My wife and I loved staying here and will return if/when we visit Stratford again. The location is as good as it gets if you plan to explore downtown on foot. Lots of restaurants, cafes, high end pubs, boutique stores, gift shops, chocolateries, and various other attractions are within immediate proximity. We didn't need our car at all. The restaurant downstairs (which is called Mercer Hall, and is the ground floor of the hotel) is excellent. And I may write a separate review for it later. Mentioning it here because you can literally walk downstairs from your room and have access to an upscale dining option. The hotel staff were great. Brooke at the front desk was super helpful getting us checked in / settled in, and communicating when I had questions. Everyone we interacted with throughout our stay was friendly. The room was cozy and comfortable. It was also really ROMANTIC. Fireplace + jacuzzi jetted tub + king size bed. Use your imagination. ------ Overall it was an A+ experience; but there are a couple caveats to be aware of: * Parking is somewhat confusing. If you're facing the front of the hotel, there is an alleyway on the right you need to drive into. Then after driving a bit there is a lot to the right that has spaces with "Mercer guest" signs on each. * Stairs, stairs, stairs. There is no elevator, so either pack light or be prepared to get your lifting workout in. The hotel is really a beautiful historic building. But it's also a maze of staircases. Neither of these were a problem for us, but the stairs in particular might not be ideal for those who have knee issues, for example.

Yelp
Beautiful architecture, lovely restaurant. But the hotel did not meet expectations since I specifically booked a room with a fireplace, for three nights at Christmas. One young girl was left in charge and she knew nothing about maintenance. I went searching for the required light bulbs in town on Christmas Eve. I managed to fix the thing myself at least partially, and created the flame effect. Don't promise something if you can't deliver it and then act like it's not your problem. There were other issues but the lack of preparedness was the worst for me
