Our first encounter was navigating the car park. I have never seen such a dangerous and poorly constructed car park! Navigating the poles was a challenge in a large SUV, two way single lane ramps with cars trying to navigate going up and down simultaneously requiring precise driving skills to reverse and navigate around the poles and parked cars. Check in was pleasant and the staff couldn’t be faulted. Very helpful and friendly. My room though was 011, directly next to the gym which is accessible 24/7. No gym should be positioned next to a hotel room, especially when it can be accessed all night. I was first awoken around 1am by loud footsteps on the floating timber floor up the hallway, then banging doors, then a very loud air conditioner going on and off all night (not sure where it was coming from). Then an early bird went to the gym at 4.30am, repeatedly dropping weights and banging around in the gym. This continued until I decided to get up at 5.30. My view was of a large construction site, with concrete pumper truck turning up very early to block the street (understand this can’t be helped). On a positive, the buffet breakfast was nice and pleasant staff. The area surrounding the hotel is quite unpleasant, even the park across the road was full of drug/alcohol affected homeless people, congregating across the road at one point. Again, not the hotel’s fault and a sad situation, but unpleasant all the same. My room seemed to be half renovated with some new parts (shower), but also with worn carpet, joinery, doors, door seals and balcony. My recommendation is to avoid this room due to its position directly beside the 24/7 gym. Finally, we were directed back to the carpark on checkout via the lift then navigating a dirty narrow corridor the was being used by cleaners who had bags, sheets etc covering the walkway leading to the carpark. Glad I only stayed one night.
