I need to start by saying the staff at the Mercure Cairns are absolutely amazing! Patricia and the other gentleman (sorry I forgot his name) were friendly, informative and nothing was too much trouble.|Unfortunately we did not have a nice stay. Our room was located on the intersection, and the noise level was insane! Every single bus, truck, motorbike and people walking past was so loud! I had to check a few times to ensure we hadn’t left the sliding door open. The hotel needs to invest in double glazing and double insulation to help dull that noise.|On the second night a group of homeless aboriginals decided to set up their party in the street, located just below our room, at 1.30am.. with blaring music, yelling, screaming and swearing. We rang reception and they informed us that they have asked them to move along, and that’s all they can do. After I asked them to move on, I was shouted at and sweared at. We ended up calling the police, and an hour later they moved on. So safe to say I barely slept a wink, as I was quite rattled.|The bed was not very comfy. The door in the bathroom was perhaps not placed in a good spot, as you had to wedge yourself between the toilet and the shower just to be able to get out.|The aircon made a horrible loud whirring noise all night. The pool was freezing cold and the restaurant was closed (which we were not informed about until we arrived). So had to source all meals from elsewhere.|So overall, our stay was not nice. I would have rated it zero.. but the staff were just amazing!

Our room was 208 on the second floor tiny nothing like the photo of room I thought I had booked. Room facing the street lots of people walking past during the night I was surprised we could hear them so clearly on the 2nd floor. Room was clean, painted dark blue which made it feel super small. No hand shower it’s a large rainfall type but not always suitable for everyone, lovely bathroom products. Staff very helpful with a very late check in and late check out. Staff on reception helpful and friendly. Unfortunately restaurant closed for renovations. I would definitely ask for a room up higher and renovated. Room served its purpose for the night. Unfortunately didn’t have time for photos.

Friendly, helpful staff. Great location. Unfortunately the restaurant was getting renovated during our stay, which would have been good to know before we arrived but it didn't change the experience we had, as there were many great places to eat along the Esplanade in Cairns. The pool is nice, a bit cold but was lovely to cool off after a walk in the heat. The room had the essentials, you can't expect more from a hotel. We were out and about a lot anyway. Really comfortable bed! Was a bit noisy at nighttime, but that's to be expected in a CBD

We stayed here for a week as part of a tour package. Restaurant was under renovation, but our included breakfast at nearby Novotel was very nice. Hotel is low key and not too big and is in a great location - walking distance to the aquarium, the main Esplanade, the water, and the nightlife. There is even a laundromat and a car rental around the corner. I would stay here again.

My stay at the Mercure in Cairns was to a fair standard. I was disappointed with no parking available on site, and the room was a little underwhelming, with very poor lighting and the bathroom was small with a low water pressure shower. The restaurant being closed due to renovations was inconvenient but not overly an issue. I did find it odd that no power outlets were next to the bed, meaning the manger kindly purchased an extension lead for my use for my medical device, but this was something that I had never found at a hotel in the past. I also believe that all hotel rooms should have some type of chair to relax in besides having to sit on the bed or in a dinning chair to relax and watch the TV. The staff were friendly and very helpful, and the place was clean and tidy with a comfortable bed to sleep in. Overall, not a bad stay, however there is room for improvement on the condition of the building to lift to a more modern level.

The rooms are spacious and do the job but they’re a bit dated and old. They really need a small kitchenette for when you get takeaway and want the basics. There’s heaps of room to retrofit one. Staff down stairs were absolutely fantastic in every way

We stayed at the Mercure Cairns and it was really well located. It's far enough away from the city centre that you get a bit of a walk, but it's not far at all, about five minutes away. The mattresses were extremely comfortable and the staff were great. The restaurant was not open, but we went across to the Novotel to eat on several occasions, as well as walking to various locations within easy reach. The pool area is lovely. The showers had a really nice rainfall showerhead and worked well. One downside is that the rooms, while beautifully appointed, have zero storage space. There is nowhere to put your things in the shower for example (in the executive room we booked, but we also had a standard twin room booked for our daughters), except on the floor. Shampoo, conditioner and body wash are supplied, but sometimes you want to use what you've brought. In the room itself, there was no shelving to put personal items, although there was some wardrobe space. We just lived out of our suitcases as a result. A few shelves would have been greatly appreciated.

I was very happy with the upgraded room - the bed was super comfy and the coffee machine was great. Good shower, nice lighting and good amount of space with modern decor. A good quiet but convenient location. We were given an early check in as our flight arrived early, and Patricia was so hospitable and very attentive and warm, obviously a natural at hospitality. I am looking forward to staying again.
