Mercure Fribourg Centre Remparts

The room itself was nice even though extremely cold despite me turning up the temperature as it was 8° outside.. still I couldnt sleep at times as the AC kept turning down and was really cold. Besides that, the design of the room itself was nice and I appreciated the blackout curtains. However the biggest let down was the lack of hospitality of the receptionists and the breakfast. A day before my stay I informed them about my dietary restrictions of being vegan and therefore making sure that I'd have a few options at breakfast. However it was highly disappointing as the only option was soy milk (which I had asked about if they could organize almond milk instead as I have an intolerance to soy) to which the answer was that they would check with the manager which seemed like it did not happen after I had asked about it again two days later and was answered with "we only have soy and lactose free milk" (which the latter of course made no sense for a vegan), leaving me with no option. The rest of the food options I had were jam, bread (which was not separate at all from other products..) as well as oats. then the standard few fruits as well as cut up cucumbers and (which I was disgusted by) moldy cherry tomatoes... All right by the meat which grossed me out even more, fortunately leaving me with no appetite anymore anyway. That was all which was available to me which for one day is already disappointing but having this for 8 days is just.. can't believe it really! Especially given the fact that the 2 star hotel I stayed at the night before went the extra mile and prepared an extra bread not contaminated by other products as well as having three different kinds of cereal I could eat + two plant based milk alternatives as well as one of the receptionists checking every single one of the breakfast items and giving me a note of which products were okay for me to eat!! I genuinely expected more from this 4 star hotel. What also upset me was one of the receptionists blindly assuming that all cereal was okay for me to eat which I then asked to check the ingredients myself, only to find honey and milk being in two of them, rendering them inedible. From all the receptionists I interacted with came ignorance regarding this matter- I'm not assuming of ill intent but nonetheless not being informed and not caring about it either which I expect from somebody working in hospitality. Please get with the times and offer more options even if there's not so many vegans in the area yet. We're still paying customers and deserve more than 3 breakfast items 🫩

We arrived after booking a room for three people, but unfortunately the room was only prepared for two. There was just one poor staff member who had to take care of everything on her own — checking us in at reception, setting up the extra bed, and even preparing the welcome drink. It was clear that she was doing her best, but the organization behind her was seriously lacking. She deserves praise, but the management really needs to reconsider how they run things.

We chose this hotel as our base camp for the trip, and it exceeded our expectations in every way. During our second stay (4 nights + 2 nights), we were delighted to be upgraded from the junior suite to the main suite. While the upgrade was a pleasant surprise, one detail stood out—the shower. The junior suite featured a spacious Italian shower, perfect for a relaxing, intimate experience. In contrast, the main suite, despite its size and luxury, had a small, basic corner shower that felt out of place in an otherwise high-end setting. The breakfast buffet was exceptional—fresh, varied, and catering to all tastes, making for a perfect start to each day. We will be back

+ Good location+ Room facilities- There was not enough parking space when we arrived. - Cleanliness: we found some dirty napkins on top of the hairdryer from previous guests.

Very nice hotel. The room was very nice and the bed was comfortable. I had a very good stay and found the staff to be highly professional and helpful. The only downside that I felt was the location to go out for dinner. You do have to walk a bit or take the car. But they also offer food at the hotel, which I did not try. Overall I liked my stay and would come back, if I have some meetings nearby again.

Very comfortable rooms and very welcoming staff. Rooms are really clean and beds and comfortable.

Very good value for money, clean and very helpful and kind personnel. Location is good, walking distance from pedestrian area.

The hotel doesn't look attractive from the outside, but the interiors are very nice. Our top floor suite was spacious and modern, the bathroom needs a little bit of TLC, especially the cleanliness of the shower cabin. The front staff is very friendly and professional. We had a great 1 night stay.
