We had a wonderful 4-night stay at Hotel Mercure Hanoi La Gare. From the moment we arrived, the staff were extremely lovely and attentive, always ready to help with any questions and very detail-oriented throughout our stay.
Our standard twin room was spotless upon arrival and cleaned thoroughly every single day by housekeeping. The room was surprisingly spacious for two people and had everything we could possibly need: a hair dryer, kettle, tea bags, instant coffee, slippers, a safe, a dental kit, vanity kit, and sanitary bags. The bathroom was also well equipped with body wash, shampoo, and conditioner. Additional amenities such as shaving kits, an iron and ironing board, and bathrobes were available upon request.
There was a paid minibar and snack bar in the room, which we didn’t use, but we appreciated having the fridge to store our own drinks. Two bottles of water were provided and refilled daily, and the fresh flowers in the room upon check-in were a lovely touch. The beds were very comfortable, and the room was quiet. There was also an extra duvet and two additional pillows in the closet.
The hotel’s location is excellent: just a 10 minute walk from Train Street and 15 minutes from the Temple of Literature. There are also a few convenience stores and the post office within a 5 minute walk, and the Old Quarter is only about 10 minutes away by Grab or by taxi.
We tried the hotel restaurant at the beginning of our stay. The menu offers a good selection of local dishes, though the prices are quite steep compared to nearby restaurants. The fitness room is small but equipped with all the necessary machines for a quick workout.
Overall, I highly recommend Hotel Mercure Hanoi La Gare for its excellent service, convenient location, and great attention to detail. We didn’t try the breakfast, but everything about our stay was wonderful.
