Very warm hearted welcome at the reception desk by a very helpful and very kind french speaking man (thanks again for your support) ! Large, soundproofed and comfortable room (luminous) with all amenities (but no air conditioning). Delicious breakfast buffet. Strategic location close to the tiny city center. A very comfy experience !

We reserved a "Privilege Room in a peaceful location" because this was our first hotel after an international flight from the US and a two-hour train ride from Frankfurt. Much to our delight, we were able to check in early, and catch a two-hour nap before exploring the town. The room was very quiet, both during our afternoon nap and overnight, which is exactly what we had hoped. The hotel staff was very friendly, the room was clean and had everything we needed, and the mini-bar was a nice treat. Although short, we had a great stay.

The location and the rooms were fine (if seemingly not air-conditioned), but the service could have been better. For example, since the hotel does not offer laundry, I asked where I could go to have it done and was given a business name. When we arrived at the location, they informed us that they did not handle laundry and gave us the name of another business. I went back to the hotel to take a business call and asked the front desk to confirm that the new business did laundry. The front desk said 'yes'. However, when we went to the new location, they also said they did not do laundry. The front desk seemed nonplused when I returned and told them they didn't do laundry either. I lost an hour of my time in the process.

Erfurt is a jewel of a city, and its Christmas market was my favorite. Hotel Mercure was a great place to stay for a few reasons (we were there on Dec 21-22). First and foremost, its staff was fantastic. We had some difficulty finding a parking place, and the young lady at the front desk cheerfully went out of her way at a very busy time to help us find parking. The hotel’s location is wonderful: walk out, turn right, and start walking. You will pass a myriad of wonderful shops, sites and architectural details until you reach the central square; it is level the entire way. The room was comfortable and clean, as is the entire hotel. The highlight is the breakfast buffet. I am from the Southern United States where we know how to make a great breakfast spread, and this beat any buffet I have ever had. It had every kind of breakfast item you could think of, including about seven regional sausages to choose from. It’s not cheap, but you will see that it is a great value; it was everybody’s favorite meal of the trip. The large buffet staff kept everything stocked and did so cheerfully—I’d give them six stars if I could.

I spent just over a month at the hotel during the Euros. The location of the Mercure in Erfurt is brilliant, the best in the city. All the staff were outstanding and made us all feel really welcome. This is a good hotel but ideally for a shorter stay. The hotel does not provide a laundry service (our colleagues at other hotels all had this). ||Unusually for a Mercure, there is no air conditioning and the rooms got incredibly stuffy (the fan heaters were a waste of time). ||If you get a slightly better room, you get a free minibar which we did not have but there there is a supermarket close by to get bottled water. ||As for the parking, it is 20 euros a day. We asked for the possiblity of a discount for the 33 days (for 12 of the days we were paying for the hotel rooms but were elsewhere in the country). Three of us from the same company were spending about £8000 on three rooms but the reception, after insisting they spoke to management, said this would not be possibile. I thought this was poor. Nearby, there are car parks for 11 euros a day so we went there instead.|| House keeping try to enter the room at 8am each morning which is something I have never come across anywhere in the world so you have to have the do not disturb sign up. When I asked for them to come after 10am, they did for a few days and then started coming again at 8am.|| Breakfast is 23 euros (standard for Mercure but in bigger cities) so we did not eat there. ||Ultimately, I would still return as it is such a nice place but it could definitely be better.

Perfect location in the middle of the beautiful city center with five-star breakfast, modern facilities and good service. There is a lounge available, a well-serviced bar, a very professional front desk, parking at the hotel. The breakfast buffet is comparable to 5+ star hotel breakfasts I have had elsewhere with very reliable service. The rooms are modern, comfortable, and well-maintained. The only disadvantage is that the rooms have little ventilation and opening the windows at night on the front side of the hotel is not advisable due to noise from the street.
