We stayed at the Mercure Perth On Hay in 2024. I emailed a complaint through in 2024 regarding our stay and after cleaning out my emails found that they still never replied and its 2026. The email reply stated they would reply in 2 business days. The complaint was as follows:
Dear Guest Relations Manager,
I am writing to express my dissatisfaction with my recent stay at the Mercure Hotel on Hay, from 22nd to the 23rd. We stayed in room 903 and 904.
While the lobby was lovely and well renovated, and the staff were courteous and professional, several aspects of my room and the overall environment were far below the standards I expected from a 4-star hotel.
Firstly, I was shocked to discover that the door to my room (904) did not have a door latch on it, which raised serious concerns about safety and security. Additionally, the room was very dusty, and the sheets were unclean. There was no proper duvet cover; instead, a large sheet was being used as a makeshift cover.
The lamps in the room were very old and all crooked, contributing to an overall feeling of neglect. The room and the entire floor had a pervasive smell of smoke, which was very unpleasant and not something I expected from a non-smoking room (the room honestly smelt like someone had been smoking in it for years). Furthermore, the lack of sunlight and the dingy appearance of the floor added to a very uninviting atmosphere.
The elevator was also in poor condition, with gross handprints that clearly needed cleaning. The bathroom was another area of concern; it was dingy and grotty, and one of the shower taps had visible erosion around it, indicating a lack of proper maintenance.
I hope that these issues can be addressed promptly to prevent other guests from having a similar experience. The lovely lobby and excellent staff were the only redeeming features of my stay, and it is my hope that these positive aspects can be reflected throughout the entire building in the future.
Sincerely, xyz.
