Opinion: Insufficient funding is the root cause behind non-profit organisational inefficiencies - SilverKris

"During a three-year tenure as executive director, the organization confronted chronic underfunding that produced operational inefficiencies: low or unpaid salaries made it hard to retain talent, high turnover forced repeated retraining, and public expectations that every cent go directly to beneficiaries discouraged necessary investment in staff. Fundraising repeatedly encountered the same obstacles, highlighting the need for greater transparency, clearer communication, and structured frameworks for measuring and conveying impact so donors can be reassured about how their money is spent." - Mia Chenyze

An organisation that adopted the right approach to humanitarian aid in crisis relief. They would first find out the needs of the affected area before sourcing for relief items from local sources, hence reducing cost while increasing efficiency. In peace time, they also work with local NGOs in Asia to build resilience in the communities that are near the"ring of fire". They are bold in use of innovations to solve unique problems, never offering cookie cutter solutions. They certainly deserved winning Asian of the Year Award 2018!
