Great atmosphere and affordable drinks as well. Tuak, langkau, beer and special cocktails were available among others and everything was pretty affordable. Bartenders were friendly and took care of any questions i had about the menu in a prompt and friendly manner. Soundsystem and bands were great too. Good vibes overall. Will definitely be back for more!

Awesome space for the local music scene . Was there to watch my favorite band perform. No cover charge. You get a drink and u tip the musicians. They've got upstairs (music performance space) and downstairs where you wait before performance begins

Great local artists perform here, This place hits a different vibe. Humble bartenders and service team. Some lip smacking snacks and finger food, the Maggi Goreng Kambing is a must try and Tuak (Home made Rice wine) has a killer kick to it. Overall a hole in the wall neighbourhood bar with a heart and soul.

Place like this is a gem. Hidden yet the place is a decent sized. I love how they invite different performers to perform in a Cosy environment. The way how the seats are would be great for small group or even individuals who wanna just have a chill night after work You can enjoy good music when just ordering drinks or food. But they really take a long time to serve luckily we weren't hangry. Tip the musician if you love them! Their apple crumble & indomie goreng mushrooms are recommended;)))

Great place that has only gotten better over the years. They have beefed up their food and bar menu since too. Haven't tried their food yet but their tuak selection is fun,as is their ginger beer. Most of all, they support local musicians, has good sound and prices of both gig entry and f&b are super reasonable, especially in this economy. Would be happy to recommend and head back there

The place was rather hidden and short-staffed. Food was fine. Nothing fancy though. Went for the band that played there. But the tuak was really good and they have excellent ginger beer. Perhaps due to the limited seats, it was pretty crowded, especially when the band started playing.

Laid-back and kinda-hidden bar-restaurant with no-frills-yet-original cocktails and fusion food to enjoy before the show. We went there on a Wednesday night, that was supposed to have an open mic from 9 pm then a set by the guest artist at 10. We had our food at the balcony and proceeded into the live bar just before 9. However, we were not informed that since there was only one open mic participant, they decided to start late. The bar stools were not the most comfortable so it might have saved us the backache to wait at the balcony longer. Anyhow, still worth a visit.

Yelp
There are only a handful of music venues in KL, and Merdekarya is one I like. This relatively newcomer is nothing like your generic bar. The setting is understated with industrial look and wooden furnishing. But that's not to say Merdekarya is a hipster joint. It's perhaps a more genuine offering when it comes to music and art. Ran by writer and musician Brian Gomez, you will find mostly live music performances here by local singers and bands. Occasionally, they hold readings and art shows as well. It's the unpretentious vibe (I didn't spot anyone in flannel shirt and skinny jeans) that makes this place a surefire winner, even on a Tuesday night.

Yelp
Merdeka which stands for Independence in Malay is truly a bold word here. Independence word itself was shortformed into the word 'Indie' represent something else. Indie music is not a new scene here in Malaysia. This is one of the place for you guys to enjoy the indie musics. Open 5 days a week. Enjoy yourself here with a beer that just cost RM8. Yeap, RM8. You haven't heard it wrong. They also got the open mic session every Wednesday. So for those who got an incredible talent. Why don't you test your power here.

Yelp
Merdekarya serves as a platform for indie singers and upcoming acts to perform. It has a rather peculiar entrance - either through a mamak shop or the back door at the alley. Walk through the courtyard and climb up the stairs following the sounds of a guitar strumming or someone singing. The place has a rather chilled out vibe and drinks are dirt cheap. RM10 for a shot of tequila? Why not? Be entertained by the variety of acts here and open mic performances. If you've got a musical talent, don't be surprised if you get pulled up on stage. The folks at the bar are also friendly and accommodating. Street parking is available on the quiet strip of shoplots. If you're looking for something fun to do with a group of friends, then definitely pay this place a visit.

Yelp
This is place is a open-mic singers' haven! It serves as a place of opportunity for up and coming or indie artists to perform and play any genre of music. It has a very chillax kinda vibe to it and they serve delicious desserts there! Also the drinks are really cheap! Rm 8 for a bottle of somersby, why yes please! If you are looking to listen to some good music and chill with friends then this place is worth a try. The only drawback that it is a bit cramped as the space is small and full of tables and chairs scattered everywhere and it is usually full with people so it can get a tad bit hot.
