The BEST Italian Deli in Boston. Period. You want a sub/sandwich? Meridian has the best around. You want a pasta dish? Meridian has the best around. You want home cooked Italian favorites? Meridian has the best around. Personal favorites are buf chicken cutlet and Meridian Special. Highly recommend this spot.

I moved to the area about six months ago and Meridian has been my go-to lunch place - I cannot recommend it enough. The food is incredible (especially the chicken caesar, Meridian special, meatballs and chicken limon) but literally everything I’ve tried is incredible. Very homey inside as well!

It might not seem like a big deal, but it's not right. I called to inquire about the extra charge, but they kept me waiting on hold for a long time. When I called back, they ignored my calls completely. This seems really shady and dishonest.

Meridian Market makes the BEST sandwiches!!! Their Italian sub makes my heart warm and the thick cut steak fries are also amazing. The portions are large and fairly priced. The staff is so friendly and lovely - TRY EVERYTHING, it's amazing!

My boyfriend brought home the Italian tuna supreme and it blew my mind. So nice, the balsamic and basil really made it. 10/10 would eat another. Also this sandwich was huge!

While the reviews for the Food Market seem very positive (and I have no reason to believe they are wrong), this review is for Meridian Wholesalers, which supplies sandwiches to Logan Airport. We purchased two sandwiches (turkey and grilled chicken) at Terminal A prior to our flight. I am motivated to write this simply because they were the two worst sandwiches we have ever tasted. Cardboard tasting meat with wilted lettuce, which made the bottom layer of bread soggy. Gross.

It's a quaint little cafe with a few tables and HUGE personalities behind the counter. They are welcoming and friendly. The food is authentic Italian and delicious!

Efficiency is such a turn on and let's say I left hot and bothered! Lol joking, but seriously so efficient with an amazing product, super friendly and helpful 10 out of 10.

I'm an Eastie native who recently moved back to the old neighborhood - I never spent much time in the Meridian Street / Central Square neighborhood in my previous life, and must have walked past this place a few dozen times. Big mistake!! Work-class sandwiches, handmade pasta, and old school Italian dishes served up fast in a true family atmosphere.. Freddie, my apologies to you and the entire Noviello family for passing you by in the past...but I'll make up for it, I promise! P.S. - Get an Italian Sub loaded, and die happy. But you'll probably live, so make sure you go back for the best Chicken Parm sub in Boston!

I love a good chicken parmigiana sub and this place did not disappoint. Nice thin cutlet, perfect sauce and cheese with a soft roll. It's everything I need in a chicken parm. Service was quick and friendly. There are a few tables for indoor dining. Took home a veal parmigiana for my better half and it got two thumbs up.

This place is incredible. I was taking a long walk through Eastie and got hungry so I made my way over to Meridian. I walked in and asked about the Meridian Special sandwich, and the guy behind the counter was super nice and helpful and made the sandwich sound amazing so I had to order it. The sandwich was ready in a matter of minutes. This sandwich was the perfect size and full of flavor; sturdy crusty bread, perfectly cooked cutlets, nice saltiness on the prosciutto, fresh milky mozzarella, perfectly sweet roasted peppers and a nice little tang from the balsamic vinegar. I ate one half of the sandwich there and packed up the rest to finish at home, but I couldn't leave without making my way back up to the counter to let them know how delicious that sandwich was. Looks like I'm gonna have to make more treks into East Boston just to go to Meridian, as the Meridian Special is now easily in the top three of the best sandwiches I've ever had.

This was the best chicken Caesar wrap I've had in Boston! The chicken was thin and crispy and there was a good amount of lettuce (but not too much), pumpernickel croutons, & lots of Parmesan cheese!! This hole in the wall is the perfect place to grab something quick! They have a hot bar to choose from if you want really quick, but you can order something and wait a couple minutes. I called my order in & the lady on the phone was so sweet! Love this place

I love this little place so much! It's my go-to lunch spot when I'm working. They have an already-prepared hot food section, but you can also order freshly-made sandwiches, salads, etc. Everything they have looks good, but the Meridian Special Sandwich is my favorite. Service is always super quick - even during the lunch rush - which is great! The staff are all super friendly and inviting. What more could you ask for?!

Fabulous neighborhood deli! Visiting our son who lives in the area & we're thrilled to find & introduce him to this wonderful neighborhood mainstay. My husband had a pastrami & Swiss, and my son a meatball sandwich. I had a Greek salad with chicken shawarma. Wow, food was amazing, generous portions & the service is fantastic. I love finding locally owned places to patron! This is definitely one of those finds!

I always chat with these guys. They are friendly, funny, and always know what I want. Even before I know. The sandwiches are delicious and the Ingredients are fresh. They try to get to know every customer which I love. This place is old school quality.

The embarrassing and an insult to the name of Italian meatballs. It should call "looser, we got you". Don't order again and tell everyone. It's should just call breadcrumbs ball, maybe with beef favorited. The worst Italian meatball I ever tasted around the world. No, the best breadcrumbs ball.

After trying to have a simple roast beef on wheat bread sandwich at a well-known deli in Downtown Boston, I was dissuaded by the $25 price tag and asked Siri to direct me through the Callahan Tunnel to East Boston. Meridian Food Market offers two things that are essential for me....taste and value. Huge Chicken Parm Sub - $10.25 They are the friendliest people, too. Enjoy.

Do I recommend this business? ABSOLUTELY!! This place was recommended from a college friend. I had a good 6.5 hour layover in Boston heading back to California and my friend said I have to go here. She was not lying at all! The food was absolutely amazing! The Meridian special is extremely flavorful and unique. I have never had anything similar to this style of sandwich before and it does not disappoint. Also I ordered in my sandwiches right before closing time and ran late with my Uber....they stayed open an extra 15 minutes and would not let me leave a tip for the inconvenience. I will be back with my wife to try more of this amazing food from this fantastic family owned place! Thank you guys!!

I've tried many chicken ziti and broccoli in EB and this one is top choice. Chicken was seasoned perfectly tender with plenty of broccoli and pasta in garlic and oil. Thanks to the chef who cooks with care that comes out in this delicious dish.

The feel is very much like a family run business, with nana at the cashier and all cousins behind the deli counter. Food is fantastic!

If you want the best subs and salads you need to try Meridian Market!! Their greek salad was absolutely perfect. Every component was so fresh and I loved the unique addition of the hot cherry peppers. The Meridian Special cold sub was also AMAZING and more than enough for two people to share. It had chicken cutlet, proscuitto, mozzarella, basil, roasted red peppers, olive oil and I added lettuce, tomato and mayo. Sometimes chicken cutlet on a cold sub can be dry, but this was exactly right. My boyfriend and I both enjoyed every last bite.

Needed a quick lunch spot before flying out of Logan and this was very convenient and the sandwich superb. I went with the Meridien special which had a nice combination of flavors and textures with the crunch of the chicken cutlet, the saltiness of the proscuitto and the sweetness of the peppers and balsamic. It was really great.

One of Boston's best sandwich destinations. The Meridian Special is worth the trip. Another Go-To is the Egg and Potato with cheese and vinegar peppers. Well worth the trip when you're in Eastie.

Sandwich shops and trendy markets might come and go, but Meridian Market is a true, authentic Italian market/lunch spot and is consistently delicious and wonderful! While it used to be more "take out", there are now tables where you can dine right in the market. Besides it's regular sandwich offerings (on excellent bread, btw) like chicken parmagiana, cold cuts or even American tuna (which is the best i've ever had), this family owned business always has hot cooked food available like eggplant parmesan or broccoli dipped in egg batter. I don't have the words to describe it all, but if you are from out of town, you should make the effort to experience it and if you are local you should eat here often. It's truly wonderful.

I really like Meridian Food Market! Typically we picked up sandwiches or salads here for lunch, since they do close pretty early. Their Meridian Special Salad is my favorite - a nice portion with a wide variety of toppings, including a chicken cutlet, prosciutto, peppers, olives, cucumbers, and tomatoes. My partner often gets sandwiches and always enjoys them. It is sometimes difficult to actually order food here, though, which is my reason for only giving 4 stars. They often don't answer the phone within about an hour of closing, which makes it difficult to pick up food here for dinner since they close by 5 usually. But if you can get takeout it's definitely worth it!

1st of all I'm from California & pop into this gorgeous Meridian food market ! As we walked in place was clean and felt like home . Very original and Boston like , if your from out of town this is the place to come ! Super clean and service is great , plenty of room to sit down & eat to enjoy! I definitely will be coming back to them ! Lastly the food is great fresh and never ate deli like it !!

Fantastic sandwiches on bread that melts in your mouth, we can't wait to visit our son in his apartment across the street so I can get their sausage peppers and onions again!

This is the best place ever. Every sandwich is made with love. The whole family is working and does an incredible job. The salads are also so fresh and tasty. I go here about once a week

Meridian Market is a full on Italian dream, at least when it comes to things only Nana's and Papa's usually serve. When you have a craving for a great sandwich, a broccoli or cheese crochet, a stuffed artichoke, stuffed jalapenos, some veal/chicken Parm or just a bowl of pasta you can count on the folks at Meridian Market to serve up tastes that will make you smile. Plan on going here with an empty stomach, the more food you can eat here the better because IT ALL TASTES GREAT. Make sure you bring extra money with you as you will definitely want to take home a big bag of goodies. If you live a few miles outside of Eastie, I promise you it is worth the trip. Everything they make is A-1..... I give Meridian Food Market a Solid 5 Stars...........

Found Meridian Food Market on you tube from a review by phantomgourmet. We are so glad we did. We met the owner and his family and they were friendly and welcoming. The food was Amazing! Arancini, chicken parm sub, the meridian Italian sub and the chicken/broccolini/prosciutto all wonderful. We are going back when our daughter gets back from college. The food reminds me of the great Italian delis in the Bronx I grew up on.

Ordered the meridian special to go since I heard everyone hyping up this place and the meridian special. The bread was nothing special about it and the chicken was a little bland. Maybe I had high expectations about this place but was a little disappointed. Maybe I'll try other sandwiches next time.

I used to love this place and would come here weekly. The subs are good, but they recently raised their prices. It's ridiculous: $25 for two subs? NOPE! Ain't Gonna Do it anymore. Customer lost.

I met a local at a coffee shop and he recommended this place. It was a bit out of our way, but well worth the journey. Had the chicken parm and the Meridian Classic (I think is the name). Fantastic sandwiches. Fast and kind service.

My old lady and I were roaming around East Boston and caught a glimpse of a familiar eatery that I've frequented several times growing up. Meridian Food Market is one of the last vestiges of high quality Italian food that are left in east boston. RIP Sonny Notos. Meridian Street Market is a place that you can confidently order just about anything and the portion size will be prodigious and the quality will be excellent.The staff and the owners are very helpful, enthusiastic, and friendly.

This is a decent lunch (early dinner) spot. Classic Italian place that has a little bit of everything. Chicken cutlet with broccoli rabe is solid. Biggest complaint is how wildly expensive it is. For what you get, especially in a local community - in my opinion- it's not worth the price. I paid $50+ for a sub, salad, and 2 rice balls. But if you're in the area, and want to try something local and quick this is your spot.

Okay I seriously don't even know where to start. Almost every single thing on the menu that I have tried has been incredible. The thing is.. getting past the Meridian Special or Chicken Parm is nearly impossible so good luck. I don't know whether to say start or end with that dish. The owner couldn't be cooler, great guy and personable.. the location is a little hard to get to and parking is difficult but honestly you won't care because the food is ridiculous and they also cater. Thank me later doesn't matter when I want to know you tried it.

This was my first time here. My husband eats here once a week. I have to say this the best sandwich I have had in a long time. I had the eggplant parmesan, everything about it was awesome. We chose Meridian market for our one and only meal during a day trip to Boston. We could not have been more pleased! First, we were greeted and served by the nicest people. We split a very large, Meridian Special sandwich and had a couple Arancini, all amazing and delicious! Highly recommend!

Food always consistent/super yummy. I don't live nearby and whenever in the East Boston area pop in. The neighborhood and streets are busy and always find on street parking without issue. Quick in and out . Favorite is the owners and staff are always so friendly and hospitable and accommodating.

I give 5 stars bc i adore this place since my first visit 5 years ago. Yet, extremely frustrating that I've been calling for over an hour on Saturday from 3-4:30 and i can't get anyone to answer. Now you're closing at 5 and no answer, no delivery, no good. Really disappointed.

Born raised in eastie moved away and was in the neighborhood and got a chicken zitti broc and a chicken parm sub and they both went straight into the trash and we grabbed real food from milanos up the heights.. day and night

Cutlets and Italian cold cuts. Tremendous. One of my top 3 chicken cutlet sandwiches in MA. Not a huge fan of the atmosphere but I come here for the special outstanding dishes.

More like 4.5 stars Wasn't the best pasta but it had hope. Chicken was really burnt and pasta was liquid. Although it has : - good presentation -the penne was amazing The customer service was excellent, no one was rude and cared if customers liked their food. Prices are good, they have 2 sizes for pasta. Can't wait to try something new.

Don't be detracted by the fact that this place - an offshoot of the original - is located in the same building as a Shell gas station, and just outside of the airport. Their pizza was excellent, and an excellent value at less than $9, for a whole 10" pie. Their menu is extensive, too. My sister in-law had an outstanding roast beef. I can't wait to try other items on the menu!

One of the best chicken parmesan subs I've ever had. the bread is great, but the star of the show is the cutlet - thin, homemade and packed in with sauce and cheese. Also have a great arancini and a solid plate of ravioli and meatballs. Friendly people. always good. highly recommend.
