Merivale Manor

Once again our stay at Merivale Manor was exceptional & faultless.|| Karen and Wayne are "just the best" in hospitality - always welcoming and helpful. Their professionalism is reflected in their friendly, attentive staff & their clean, well appointed, light filled rooms. ||We particularly enjoy the spaciousness of the Manor with the library & verandah overlooking the well manicured grounds. ||Location is another big drawcard.| *Easy to get to. | *Located between a wonderful range of restaurants- our favs being Gatherings, Bridgettes, Aikmens & Bohemian Bakery . Also within walking distance to Merivale shops- check out the Wine cellar in Fresh Choice! ||A Hidden Gem In Merivale.

We had a lovely stay at Merivale. The hotel itself is beautiful with it's own history. The hosts, Wayne and Karen were very welcoming and super helpful. The location was great for getting into the centre of the city, and the rooms were perfect, all amenities, spotlessly clean and even had the heating on for our arrival. Would recommend to anyone!

Service level was above and beyond. My family was attending an event in the city and I cheekily requested an early carpark and the possibility of obtaining an apartment key 🔑. Wayne not only granted my request but allowed us access to the apartment at 10am. It is not lost on us that it placed pressure on himself and his cleaning team. The apartment was perfect, exceptional location, spacious and spotless. Thank you we are very grateful for your kindness.

Great location, very comfortable room in lovely setting. Stayed in studio room at front of block. Bus stop just outside made transport easy. Wayne and Karen were excellent hosts ensuring we had everything we needed. Plenty of cafes and shop close by.

Merivale Manor is a slice of bygone era elegance but with completely modern conveniences and first rate service. No kidding, MM is one of those places where as soon as the door clicks shut behind you, the deep sigh of relief can begin. The feeling of pleasant history pervades every nook, cranny and antique-filled alcove of "The Manor."||The hustle and stress of travel melts away as the bouquet from fragrant flowers from the grounds and the ever-present birdsong drift into the room. ||Everything was spotless, and the grounds were immaculate during our stay. We loved the little touches like mints on a small landing table and there was even milk in the little refrigerator for coffee or tea, in the morning. Wayne and Karen are truly extraordinary hosts and seemed honestly happy we were there, just sharing a bit of our day with them. ||The location is also just perfect for a short 2km walk to Hagley Park, which includes the beautiful botanical gardens and is bordered by a vibrant City Centre, where you can find anything from ice cream from an old streamline trailer to five-star cuisine.||Book early, as vacancies at this little marvel are rare.

I'm usually a "stay right in the centre of a city girl" and my mind has been totally changed. Merivale manor is an exquisite grand dame located a 5 minute drive from Christchurch City Centre and yet you feel like you are million miles from the urban sprawl. |I stayed in the front room of the manor and with it's period high ceilings and grand decor my two day stay felt like an occasion. |Hosts Wayne and Karen couldn't have been more gracious - nothing was too much trouble.|The grounds are lush and green, there are bicycles to meander around town on and across the road is a fabulous cafe that serves great coffee to start your day off with a bang!|What an absolute delight to find this little oasis - I'm already planning my next stay.

It is always a pleasure to stay at Merivale Manor. Karen and Wayne are the perfect hosts displaying hospitality plus, while every detail of their accommodation is above reproach. Merivale is an up market area and the perfect location for Merivale Manor while it has shopping, restaurants, cafes and a supermarket with in a short walk. I always recommend Merivale Manor to friends and acquaintances as an absolutely incredible place to stay.|Max Hunter

We enjoyed our stay at Merivale Manor. We got a bit more room than we are used to, as our room had a little kitchen. The staff was very friendly and a pleasure to deal with. The whole place was quite nice and I would definitely recommend staying here.

This place was great! Modern, clean, comfortable accommodations in a convenient location. The light breakfast they provided was also appreciated! We stayed in an apartment across the street from the main Manor. Our unit was 3 stories. There was a master bedroom with en suite bathroom on the first floor. The second floor featured a cozy sitting area, kitchenette, and washer/dryer. (Unfortunately, the washer and dryer were surprisingly difficult to use and slower than expected.) The third floor contained two additional bedrooms (one with a queen bed, and one with two twin beds) and a shared bathroom. The set up is great for two or more couples (or families) traveling together. The coffee and tea provided was plentiful, and the light breakfast provided (a variety of cereals, milk, bread, and spreads) was very convenient and helpful. The location is convenient - a 15 minute drive to the airport and close to the Merivale Mall. The hosts were warm and welcoming, and we really appreciated the fact that Gwyneth took the time to bring us our milk and bread personally, and showed us around the apartment. These are great accommodations at a reasonable price!
