Merivale Manor

Staying at the Merivale Manor whilst away on business, makes being away from home a treat! Sparklingly clean, huge, comfortable beds and a great selection of hot drinks. The bathrooms are really well appointed, and I also really love having a crisp bathrobe to use. The heating is on when I check in which makes for a comfortable arrival. Beautiful grounds are well maintained and there's always space to park the rental car. Conveniently located, just a few minutes walk to Christchurch city and fantastic value for money, make it the perfect place to stay. In a strip of very average accommodation choices, the Manor stands out. I just need to come back for a mini break so I can use the bikes!

Stunning old manor house. Beautifully restored. Excellent location. We only stayed overnight but definitely enjoyed our stay. Very warm rooms. Friendly welcome and tour of the house. Highly recommend

We loved our stay at Merivale Manor, the manor house is gorgeous, the room was generous and beautifully appointed. The entire property is spotlessly clean and welcoming. Treat yourselves to the continental breakfast which is top notch and beautifully presented. Wayne and Karen are fabulous hosts and Marley (their gorgeous schnauzer) is a delight. We would definitely recommend Merivale Manor and will happily stay here again.

I’ve been staying at Merivale Manor since 2012, ( that’s not a typo) it’s my favourite motel in NZ, and my go to in Christchurch. Karen and Wayne are super hosts and the is centrally located and close to the city and Merivale. I’ve stayed in the Manor rooms ( my favourite) the studio units and the apartments that are good for groups and families. I highly recommend you stay at Merivale Manor on your next Christchutch trip, you won’t be disappointed. Catherine R

This was our second stay at Merivale Manor. We stayed 5 nights. The hosts were very welcoming and friendly. We stayed in one of the motel units and it suited our needs perfectly. The Manor is only a short walk to shops and restaurants. We would not hesitate to stay here again.

Over in NZ visiting friends and family - I am a return guest to Merivale Manor - the past 10 - 15 years - stayed 4 nights all up this trip. I have stayed in 6 different motels this trip, Auckland, Opotiki, Cambridge, Oamaru, Dunedin and Christchurch.|Over the past years I have stayed in at least half the suites in the Manor as well as probably every Studio unit over that period - great décor both in the Manor Suites and Studio units. The beds are great, "Sleepyhead Supreme Commercial" very comfy - I suffer from back issues and these beds are the best for waking up not feeling any back discomfort (my favourite motel in Dunedin uses these beds as well - I am buying one when I get back to Australia hence the attached photos I took from both motels). Other than the quality bedding, the one thing that makes the Merivale Manor stand in a league of its own is it has the best water pressure for showers I have come across in the last 20 years of travelling any place in NZ or Oz or other parts of the world I have visited including Hotels, Motels, Airbnb and BBs. Great hosts Wayne and Karen always make you feel welcome.

We really enjoyed our stay in Merivale and Christchurch. Great spot for dining and shopping and accessing the city. We had a vehicle and that made it easy to get around. Grant and Maree were fabulous host and generous with their information and knowledge of places to eat and visit and they were spot on. Merivale Manor being a historic building had 2 flights of stairs to get upstairs and we had lovely old and spacious room. We had a requested a twin room and it had a queen bed and single both of which were very comfortable. Great shower and nice bathroom. Thanks so much to Grant and Maree

Just recently we had the pleasure of finishing a 10 week NZ holiday in Christchurch. We stayed at Merivale Manor which is centrally located close to both the City Centre and the airport. Merivale itself is a very trendy suburban area with excellent shopping, restaurants and cafes.|The Manor House itself is a unique and classy historical building which has been really well maintained and still retains a lot of its original character. We had two fabulous rooms in the Manor house, both rooms were beautifully presented, spotlessly clean with top class linen and very comfortable beds -- exactly what weary travelers needed.|To top this off our hosts Maree & Grant were warm, friendly, welcoming and really professional. They were both so helpful to us with every aspect of our stay going way above and beyond what could be reasonably expected. Their level of service was simply 5 star -- thank you Maree & Grant.||We would highly recommend staying at Merivale Manor if you are visiting Christchurch and if possible staying in the Manor House itself.

We enjoyed our stay at Merivale Manor. We got a bit more room than we are used to, as our room had a little kitchen. The staff was very friendly and a pleasure to deal with. The whole place was quite nice and I would definitely recommend staying here.

This place was great! Modern, clean, comfortable accommodations in a convenient location. The light breakfast they provided was also appreciated! We stayed in an apartment across the street from the main Manor. Our unit was 3 stories. There was a master bedroom with en suite bathroom on the first floor. The second floor featured a cozy sitting area, kitchenette, and washer/dryer. (Unfortunately, the washer and dryer were surprisingly difficult to use and slower than expected.) The third floor contained two additional bedrooms (one with a queen bed, and one with two twin beds) and a shared bathroom. The set up is great for two or more couples (or families) traveling together. The coffee and tea provided was plentiful, and the light breakfast provided (a variety of cereals, milk, bread, and spreads) was very convenient and helpful. The location is convenient - a 15 minute drive to the airport and close to the Merivale Mall. The hosts were warm and welcoming, and we really appreciated the fact that Gwyneth took the time to bring us our milk and bread personally, and showed us around the apartment. These are great accommodations at a reasonable price!
