Merkur Funicular Railway

A nice funicular (railway cable-car) leading to a lovely mountain top with amazing view and nice spots for a picnic. Theres ride takes a few minutes. The tower at the top offers stairs or an elevator (however even with an elevator there are a few steps to climb). There’s also a restaurant there.

An absolute must. We walked from central Baden Baden to the station which was initially very steep. It then levels out. (Regular buses & lots of car parking). The view and walking trails are great. The cafe is reasonably priced. Naturally we scoffed a Black forest gateau which was excellent.

A wonderful funicular at the edge of town. Well worth finding. €14 for a return trip for two adults was very good value compared to other funicular railways we have been on.

Very accessible by public transportation. The railway itself is amazing, and the view of the Black Forest from the top is stunning. An absolute recommendation!

The ride was easy, very little waiting time. The views from the top of vernicular railway were fantastic with cool breeze, sun and good clarity." I can see for miles and miles and miles and miles" came into my head! Can be fresh up there so wear appropriate clothes. Tried to cycle up to the begin point of railway but spent most of time walking with bikes so be warned!! It's steep!
