23 Best Things to Do When You're in Singapore | Condé Nast Traveler

"This promenade overlooking Marina Bay is home to Singapore's iconic 28-foot Merlion statue, a half-fish, half-lion stone carving that shoots water into the bay. The fish symbolizes Singapore's beginnings as a fishing village while the lion head is a nod to Singapura, which means "Lion City" in Malay. Erected in 1972, it remains one of the nation's most popular tourist attractions, so plan accordingly." - Ashlea Halpern

What a beautiful place, especially in the night. They lit it so beautifully and you want to keep looking at the amazing sight. Is better to go there is evenings, as it’s less hot n humid. Also the Singapore skyline is very nicely lit up as well. There is no ticket to come to this place and it’s open 24x7, which makes it even awesome. If you are in Singapore, a visit to this place is a must and your Singapore trip would be incomplete, if you miss this sight 😊

Great place to visit with kids Our kids loved it! We visited in the evening, and the lights on the water made everything feel magical. Plenty of space for strollers, and safe areas for children to walk around. We even grabbed some snacks nearby and had a small picnic. Clean, accessible, and perfect for a quick family outing with amazing photo op

This park is one of the most iconic landmarks in Singapore, offering a breathtaking panoramic view. From here, you can catch a glimpse of the iconic Marina Bay Sands hotel, the stunning Esplanade, and the city’s modern skyline. It’s the perfect place to take in the beauty of the city from above, all while being surrounded by nature. P.S so many people visit here so you better be ready😂

Had a fantastic time visiting the Merlion in Singapore! It's such an iconic landmark and truly lives up to the hype. We went in the late afternoon, which was perfect as we got to see it both in the daylight and illuminated against the evening sky. The sheer scale of the statue is impressive, and the water spouting from its mouth creates a dynamic and beautiful effect. The area around the Merlion is also lovely for a stroll, with fantastic views of Marina Bay Sands and the surrounding cityscape. There were plenty of great photo opportunities, and we enjoyed just sitting and soaking in the atmosphere. It's a must-see for anyone visiting Singapore. It's free to visit, easily accessible, and provides a truly memorable experience. Highly recommend!

Merlion Park – A Must-See Icon of Singapore Located by Marina Bay, Merlion Park is home to the iconic Merlion statue — with the head of a lion and the body of a fish, symbolizing Singapore’s origins as a fishing village and its legendary name. Though the park isn’t large, its location is perfect, offering stunning views of Marina Bay Sands, Helix Bridge, and the city skyline. The 8.6-meter-tall statue spouts water into the bay and is one of the most photographed spots in Singapore. Daytime brings fresh, open skies, while nighttime transforms the area into a glowing, picturesque scene. More than just a photo spot, it’s where you can truly feel the rhythm of the city — modern, calm, and beautifully balanced.

🦁🌆 Merlion Park – A Must-Visit Icon of Singapore (Especially at Night!) Merlion Park is truly one of the most iconic spots in Singapore, and I made it a point to visit — but only at night, and I’m so glad I did! While daytime photos didn’t excite me much, the night view was absolutely stunning. As the sky darkened, the area came alive — the skyline, the glowing Merlion, the waterfront, and the electric ambiance made it one of the most memorable parts of our trip. ✨ From here, you get a fantastic view of Marina Bay Sands, perfect for photos — you can even catch cruise ships passing by in the background as you snap away! 🚢📸 The park is easily accessible via the MRT, and it’s a great idea to club your visit with nearby spots like Boat Quay or Satay Street at Lau Pa Sat for a complete evening experience. ⚠️ Tip: Skip the daytime visit — it doesn’t do justice to the place. Visit at night to truly feel its charm. 📸 Photo Ideas: Try fun shots like “catching” the water from the Merlion’s mouth or “eating” the top of Marina Bay Sands — classic tourist photos you’ll love looking back on! A definite must-visit for anyone coming to Singapore! 🇸🇬✨

Merlion Park is a must-visit landmark in Singapore, especially for first-time travelers. The iconic Merlion statue, with the Marina Bay skyline in the background, makes for stunning photo opportunities. The area is clean, spacious, and well-maintained, offering a relaxing atmosphere to walk around—especially in the early morning or evening. There are benches and shaded spots to rest, and it’s close to other key attractions like Marina Bay Sands and the Esplanade. While it can get crowded with tourists, it’s still a memorable and symbolic part of any visit to Singapore.
