"Excellent Ethiopian food on the cusp of Pigneto Hidden within a poorly marked courtyard, Mesob offers some of the best food in Rome . Chef Kuki Tadese prepares family recipes, which are served on sour and spongy injera (Ethiopian bread). Order every vegetable dish on the menu and bear with the slow service. It is a one- (max two) woman show in the kitchen and Kuki's food is worth the wait. Dinner only."

For those wanting to venture into Rome's ethnic cuisine, Mesob is a gem located in Pigneto, and is easily accessible from the 5 or 14 tram from Termini train station. Great Ethiopian food at a reasonable price and an exceptional host makes this an unforgettable experience while vacationing in Rome.

Intimate restaurant tucked in a backyard section off the main road. Very simple interior with traditional Ethiopian art and music playing on their stereo. Food was very good! A welcome change from Italian fare. Service was top-notch, as our host explained everything extensively, was very attentive throughout. Highly recommended if you're ok to make the journey out to this side of town!

The best place for authentic Ethiopian food. I have never been disappointed by this restaurant. They use high quality ingredients and cook it to perfection. It is not expensive and provides good value for money. The owners are extremely friendly and lovely people. If you haven't been here you must find time to visit this restaurant

Family owned, authentic little spot - great food and reasonably priced. A bit far out but worth the hike. Has a small outdoor area, which is pretty much a parking courtyard, but it worked well for us to sit outside - not fancy but very cozy atmosphere.

Finding this place is like the literal 'hole in the wall.' If you're looking for it, yes, it's up that driveway and to the left. Good food, friendly service. Worth a visit if you like Ethiopian cuisine or would like to try it. Try the doro wot (chicken). It's very good. Reservations strongly recommended.

Very friendly owners. Tasty food with abundant quantity. Very gracious to call for us a taxi service and offer an Italian liquor shot while we wait for the taxi. We were very much pleased to say the least.

Yelp
Living in Washington DC where there is a large Ethiopian community, I've had a lot of great Ethiopian food and Mesob is right up there. It may be easy to miss up a small driveway, but once you find it it's like walking into someone's kitchen. The host was friendly and accommodating and speaks English. We had the mixed vegetable plate as well as chicken tibs. I was disappointed that they were out of Doro Wot because I like spice and this was 7/8 o'clock so get there early if that's what you're looking for. The lentil dishes were especially good but I missed the heat that I'm used to at home. I hear that Europeans are less tolerant of spucybso perhaps Mesob tones it down for their usual customers. Be forewarned: the restaurant switched to CASH ONLY about a week ago according to the proprietor which would have been nice to know before I pulled out my credit card. All in all, I would definitely return on my next trip to Rome.

Yelp
A little off the beaten path but defiantly worth a stop if you're looking for a great meal in Rome. We started with an order of falafel and lentil sambusa. Each were freshly fried and the best of their respective variety that I have ever had. Then we shared the doro wot and vegetarian combination. The whole meal was extremely flavorful and an excellent value in a city where overpaying is easy. To top it all off, the owners were extremely kind and called us a cab back to our hotel after the long walk to the restaurant. Overall excellent experience!

Yelp
Tucked away in a more urban area of Rome, this food was a great break from European cuisine. Great service, EXTREMELY friendly waiter and cook that talked to us. Fluent in English, great flavorful, authentic food. Much recommended. Very reasonable price as well, my cousin and I were stuffed for 29 euros

Yelp
Mesob Best Ethiopian restaurant in Rome. I loved the food and the people serving. We stayed in Rome for two weeks and this is by far the best Ethiopian restaurant.
