On the Grid : The Emerson Restaurant

"This is a great spot to gather around the table with your kids, or if you're solo there's a welcoming bar with lots of seats. Don't mistake the chill, family friendly vibe for subpar food - in fact it's quite the opposite. We highly recommend trying out 'The Grand Royal' double cheese burger, Jerk Branzino and one of the many delicious sides." - Concrete

I was looking for a place to grab dinner by myself in the middle of the week and found Mesobs on Google right up the street from me. I'm so glad I did. It is decorated in a way that you can tell the owners are proud of their culture and looking to share it with people. The atmosphere is cozy, comfortable and nostalgic . My server was so sweet and helped me with my meal as I tried to order an amount of coffee more appropriate to a group than just one person. The food was excellent and the portion was huge. I had the Mesobs Special Veggie and thoroughly enjoyed the two meals I got out of it! The coffee was a wonderful after dinner treat and I just can't say enough about this place. Truly a gem on Lansdowne serving simple, tasty and affordable food that is made with care. I will be back and hope others will enjoy it as much as I did. I didn't manage to take any photos before I started devouring the food but I'll attach what I can!

The place is cozy, we felt really comfortable there. The food is delicious. They were super friendly. My husband and I went there on a Sunday for lunch. It was full, and only 2 people were working, but they let us know it could take a while to get the food. But either way, it was worth the wait. We'll be back for sure.

Mesobs is ONLY for ones to try and no more ➡️tell you why: I’ve been in many African, Ethiopian restaurants, I know how to make injera or doroyout and I know about good food😊👍🏼I can’t call this place as a restaurant, looks like a cafe or fast food place. One teen is serving food and makes mistakes. I was there after lunch time, place was kinda slow with a few customers but I didn’t see any adults who run the Mesobs business. Don’t expect antiseptic napkins to clean your hands before meal 👎🏽 because you have to use 🖐🏼🤌🏼fingers to eat injera/ African type of bread with different veggies or meat souse. Place needs to be clean 🧼 well⚠️specially ladies washrooms🤢 Sorry for my low key review but I’m very honest with my opinion and paying money for service and food 🚩

Wow, what an enjoyable experience! The food was delicious and the service was friendly! It did take a bit to get our food, but it was worth the wait, very fresh and tasty. Their traditional Eritrean coffee was wonderful with the taste of ginger!

I had a horrible experience at this restaurant and will not be going back. I did a pick up order for Kitfo and was extremely disappointed. The Kitfo was filled with oil and tomatoes sauce with a little bit of ground beef. Tomatoes sauce isn’t even suppose to be in Kitfo. The Ayib (cheese) was placed in the middle of the Kifto and was melted. It did not look appetizing. The customer service was also not the best after going back to show them the food, they did nothing about it and didn’t even offer to remake it. I have attached a picture of the food to this review. Very disappointed.

Absolutely loved the food !! The quantity of the curries on the enjera was little less but we e joyed every bite of it. The young boy serving us was very detailed, helpful and respectful. They can definitely do better with the entrance, ambience and floor cleanup. Other than the food was freshly made and was very appetizing

I love the atmosphere of this place and the owners and staff are sooo friendly. The food is absolutely delicious. My go to spot for Ethiopian cuisine! The veggie platter and Shiro are my favourites! Also really delicious coffee. Highly recommend!!!

I’ve been here around 10 times in the last year. I have a soft spot for this place— the owner is wonderful, and the spot feels super homey/ cozy. The platter is great for sharing! I usually get one meat platter for two people, or two platters if I come as a group of four. One of my favorite places in Toronto. Prices are super reasonable too. Lots of love!!!!

Yelp
The worst Ethiopian food I ever tested. I don't recommend this resturant at all. The customer service was not that bad.
