On the Grid : The Emerson Restaurant

"This is a great spot to gather around the table with your kids, or if you're solo there's a welcoming bar with lots of seats. Don't mistake the chill, family friendly vibe for subpar food - in fact it's quite the opposite. We highly recommend trying out 'The Grand Royal' double cheese burger, Jerk Branzino and one of the many delicious sides." - Concrete

Delicious food, big portions, and unique experience! This is the kind of cultural food you can't quite replicate at home. Cozy spot. Service is a tad bit slow but very attentive. We got the Special Veggie platter and it was HUGE. Everything was tasty, homey, and seemed quite healthy. The injera bread is like if a pancake tasted like sourdough and I personally loved it. Sometimes food doesn't need to use crazy flavours or do something "big", and this is one instance where the simplicity really hit the spot.

I was looking for a place where can I get spaghetti and by chance found this awesome place, I got my spaghetti's with meat and the chef put the cheese on it place it in the oven, that was fantastic. The atmosphere is amazing. You have to be very hungry in order to finish your meal that comes with salad and a bread.

The food was absolutely incredible! So flavourful and filling. My first time trying Ethiopian cuisine and it was thoroughly enjoyed by me and my family.

I was looking for a place to grab dinner by myself in the middle of the week and found Mesobs on Google right up the street from me. I'm so glad I did. It is decorated in a way that you can tell the owners are proud of their culture and looking to share it with people. The atmosphere is cozy, comfortable and nostalgic . My server was so sweet and helped me with my meal as I tried to order an amount of coffee more appropriate to a group than just one person. The food was excellent and the portion was huge. I had the Mesobs Special Veggie and thoroughly enjoyed the two meals I got out of it! The coffee was a wonderful after dinner treat and I just can't say enough about this place. Truly a gem on Lansdowne serving simple, tasty and affordable food that is made with care. I will be back and hope others will enjoy it as much as I did. I didn't manage to take any photos before I started devouring the food but I'll attach what I can!

Outstanding Ethiopian fare! The Qiqil—a mild, flavorful lamb and Carrot ,potato stew —and Mesob veggies special platter bursting with lentils, gomen, Fish and fresh salads were tangy, spicy perfection on spongy injera. Generous portions, vibrant vibes, and spot-on service. Shoutout to owner Ahmed, a genuinely great guy who made it feel like home. Must-try—back soon! 🇪🇹🍲

The place is cozy, we felt really comfortable there. The food is delicious. They were super friendly. My husband and I went there on a Sunday for lunch. It was full, and only 2 people were working, but they let us know it could take a while to get the food. But either way, it was worth the wait. We'll be back for sure.

Mesobs is ONLY for ones to try and no more ➡️tell you why: I’ve been in many African, Ethiopian restaurants, I know how to make injera or doroyout and I know about good food😊👍🏼I can’t call this place as a restaurant, looks like a cafe or fast food place. One teen is serving food and makes mistakes. I was there after lunch time, place was kinda slow with a few customers but I didn’t see any adults who run the Mesobs business. Don’t expect antiseptic napkins to clean your hands before meal 👎🏽 because you have to use 🖐🏼🤌🏼fingers to eat injera/ African type of bread with different veggies or meat souse. Place needs to be clean 🧼 well⚠️specially ladies washrooms🤢 Sorry for my low key review but I’m very honest with my opinion and paying money for service and food 🚩

Wow, what an enjoyable experience! The food was delicious and the service was friendly! It did take a bit to get our food, but it was worth the wait, very fresh and tasty. Their traditional Eritrean coffee was wonderful with the taste of ginger!

Yelp
Checked out this Ethiopian restaurant when I was in the area and it was definitely very filling for cheap. I shared this platter with a friend and we each paid about $14 which I thought was great considering how much food we had/still had left. I honestly didn't love most of the toppings and wasn't a fan of the sauce either. The waitress was nice and helpful, but overall I don't think I'd come back

Yelp
The Vegetarian platter for 2 was delicious and super filling! We also split the beef chacha and it was great. Everyone that worked there was kind and our server was amazing. I loved the atmosphere and the way the dishes were presented.

Yelp
The worst Ethiopian food I ever tested. I don't recommend this resturant at all. The customer service was not that bad.
