We had 2 decent stays at the Casa de Piedra during our 3-week Mexico trip.||We found it accidentally looking for a stopover on the road from Acapulco to Puerto Escondido. ||It was an absolute lucky hit. ||||First the conclusion:||Meson Casa de Piedra is a wonderful, virtually paradisiacal place to stay if you are looking for an opportunity to really relax and let your soul take a rest directly at the beach. It's built with a lot of love for details and offers unique rooms in different sizes and features. It's great to do just nothing besides hanging around or having nice long walks on the beach.||The owners and and the staff are very friendly and helpful. Value for money for the rooms is very good. The cuisine is good but a little bit overpriced for what it offers.||||||Hotel/Rooms||First we stayed 2 nights in the roomy suite "CIELO", located in the first floor of a beautiful cabaña with a private terrace overlooking the ocean. It's partially "open" so you feel as a part of the surrounding nature-paradise. It's very unique, glass bottles in different colors are worked into the walls, creating colorful shadows when the sun shines through. The kingsize bed is comfy and equipped with a mosquito net. ||The second stay was only for 1 night in room no. 3, a smaller room with less comfort. Still, everything was clean and good.||||Cuisine||The staff seems to be mainly family-based and is very friendly and helpful. They run the hotels' cuisine, offering breakfast, lunch and dinner and all kind of drinks.||The menu consists of local specialities and everything we tried was good. However, fe found the prices are a little bit to high for the basic meals that are offered. ||Also, the awareness for "service" as in professional gastronomy has potential for improvement. ||||Good to know||- The owner has to huge dogs (Great Danes). They are more than lovely and sociable but always around so the place is not suitable if you are afraid of dogs.||- Although there is a small town nearby, you definitely need a car to come here and move around. It's basically in the middle of nowhere||- It's not allowed to bring own food and drinks to support the family that runs the restaurant and the bar||- Paradise = nature ≠ air condition ≠ always-on. Some of the rooms are partially open to the outside and during rain season you can be exposed to humidity and even rain entering with the wind. We loved it but it's not the right thing for you if you are used to club holidays. There is a WiFi but it's not working very well.
