Methavalai Residence Hotel Bangkok

Great location for exploring old town and Khao san area. Easy walk to markets, restaurants, temples and grand palace. Close to areas for both tourists and locals. Staff on reception are helpful.

We came here for the food since the main restaurant is under renovation, but unfortunately, it seems the chef has lost his touch. We’ve been regulars for years, and it’s been getting worse each time. The service was already poor before they moved, and now it’s even worse. We were the only table there, with two staff walking around, yet it was impossible to get anyone’s attention. At these prices, it’s hard to justify coming back — especially after things have gone wrong three times in a row at a place that charges five times the market rate. Really disappointing from a restaurant we used to love.

Overall Rating: 3/5

Stayed at the Methavalai Residence for 2 nights.|The room I stayed in was very clean and the rooms are a very good size, with chairs and table too.  Shower hot and powerful, air con efficient and plenty of storage space. We went to the Mitchelin star restaurant next door which was lovely and enjoyed our meal plenty to choose from|and service was excellent. There was live music playing in restaurant too. It is a short walk to The Grand Palace and Khao San Road with plenty of stalls and places to eat and drink.|The staff were friendly and very helpful. We had a problem getting a taxi back to the airport, this was due to the Myanmar earthquake and effects felt in Thailand. All trains were suspended and traffic was horrendous.|Hotel staff helped us find a taxi and negociated a deal with the driver and got us there on time. Hotel was also great value.|

Great value hotel. Hidden at the back of the main road but still easy to access. The rooms were standard but clean and efficient. We always got back with freshly cleaned room. The staff were so nice. A plus because it has a spa just next door!

Pleasant stay here for 2 nights, staff were great and helpful. The room was clean and tidy, our only gripe was not a single English channel on the tv.The location is very good for the main sights and for eating too at local places, even the Khao San road is only 5 min walk away.

Clean and spacious rooms. Checked in early. Very friendly staff. Good location, easily accessible with bus and there is a 7-eleven nearby.

Great location, 10-15 minutes walk fromThe Grand Palace, 5-8 minute walk from Khoa San Rd, easy to find as it’s just off Democracy Island so a good marker if you are prone to getting lost! ||The room is big, clean with decent shower and comfy bed. The hotel staff are very nice and friendly, the breakfast won’t win any awards but does a job to set you up for the day.|When in Bangkok you spend hardly anytime in the hotel room other than to sleep so for the price and what you get it’s a great deal. You can hear the road a little bit at night (still slept well) but I imagine that will be the same in most hotels around.||Would definitely use the hotel again or recommend to others.
