8 secret spots in Bangkok that only the locals know of - SilverKris

"Transformed from a former dumping ground into roughly 2 hectares of man-made woodland and wetland, this urban nature area features elevated walkways through recreated habitat, informational exhibits on green living and a sense of wilderness within the city’s eastern corridor. The site emphasizes ecological restoration and offers a tranquil, educational nature walk close to the airport area." - SilverKris

This Forest within the City is astoundingly beautiful! The staff is lovely and very friendly, place is beautiful from start to finish. Excellent architecture worthy of LEED certification awards. It uses the Miyawaki Method for biodiversity restoration, and has all the explanation, exhibition and trail inside. More than 10 years since planted, it has grown amazingly to foster more than 100 species of new animals that call the forest home. Over 10,000 species and 270 native plants were planted here, a place that used to be a garbage dump. It is the perfect place to disconnect from the city busyness, close the the airport. Come here to enjoy nature and learn new things about nature and life. The skywalk is beautiful and you have a 360 view of the city and airport from the tower. Soon, there will be Shinrin Yoku in Thailand here. Come alone, with family or in group, you will not regret it. Taashii

Metro Forest is located near-ish to Suvarnabhumi Airport and is definitely worth a visit. The entrance is free of charge and you can visit a small exhibition room that explains more about the flora in Thailand (signs only available in Thai), an impressive skywalk that enables you to walk next to the treetops and an observation tower with a stunning view of the skyline of Bangkok and the airport. The Metro Forrest has some cool nature conservation efforts, including planting new trees and educating the public about nature. There are some cafes and restaurants nearby with nice food and drinks as well. Would recommend if you are looking to visit a green space in Bangkok!

This is a great initiative which combines conservation and preservation, with education. The design is well thought through and the ambience is peaceful. You would not believe that you are in one of the most busiest cities in the world.

Nice little respite in the middle of housing developments, industrial parks and highways. The staff were friendly and helpful with the parking (street parking and there is a side street just past Cafe Amazon). We went on a weekday so we had the park mostly to ourselves, the staff say the weekends can get quite crowded. The canopy walkway and the tower with a spiral staircase were pretty cool. There are chickens roaming the grounds and in the middle of the park you can hear the sounds of nature. Lots of little nooks to take a break and read or meditate.

Small forest that is well maintained and designed😃 Different varieties of trees here and i also enjoyed walking on the beautiful skywalk (even though it was kind of short😅) Perfect place for a short trip during the weekends. Parking is available beside the road from 9:00 - 16:00.

It was a little but fake calling it a 'metro forest' since it features only a small bushy area in the midst of the city's outskirt and community villages. And the trees are not that many as that of the advertisement told you so. It was so hot and the place doesnt look like it has finished refurbishing the site yet. And the exhibition hall that looks interesting from the outside just turned out to be just a small hall with less information about forests.

It is called forest in town. It opens everyday at 9am-6pm, except on Mondays. And there is no admission fee. For whoever drives one's own car to visit here, I suggest parking your car at restaurants near the Metro Forest. Do not park yours at roadside because you might be fined by police when parking on impermissible time. I heard that they also give free trees for everyone, but you have to arrive here quite early morning to get the free ones.
