this is lengthy but please read before staying!!! WARNING!!
the foyer doors have to be opened by a staff member inside and the windows are mirrored- on arrival you're wondering if you are in the right place. press a button to talk to someone inside and they will let you in....
I go in and just get asked the name of the booking and then handed the eftpos machine to pay with a quick verbal wifi password in passing, i asked where i can park my car and was told "yes we have parking" this went back and forth 3 times for me to get a simple answer of where i can park.
then i was told i had to pay a further $50 security bond for the room that was never mentioned in the booking and given the eftpos machine again?
trial and error we figured out how to navigate the closed off street to park, circling the block 3 times and then travelling through the fire escape stairwell maze across another car park and back to the foyer.
the next day we went out and on return none of our access keys were working, we had room 303, i took them to the counter was told sorry and given back keys that had 306 on them and these worked to let us in our room.
we were woken up at 4am by the fire alarm Sunday morning.
NO ONE! knew what was going on or directed in any way to safety, guests were standing in room door ways asking each other what is happening because the fire alarm does not sound like a fire alarm? once we smelt smoke we understood and headed down the fire stairs from the 3rd floor. out the front the fire department was there and the staff were just standing over to the side by themselves with no idea what to do, i over heard the fireman say a faulty isolator (but just read a previous review this happened a month back too!)
no one was told to go back in and we were all standing out side, barely in clothes, in 4'C. once the fire truck left people started assuming we could go back inside.
we decided that's enough and time to check out, we went back up to our room to grab our things, i lifted up the bed to make sure nothing was dropped and lost under there before leaving and that's when we saw a used dirty baby nappy, food scraps and waste.
i advised the 2 staff members at the counter on checking out and they just smiled and said thank you, i reiterated did you just hear what i said? and they replied it's ok you can go now..
the atmosphere of this hotel is likened to out the front of hospital emergencies 2am on a Saturday morning if you've ever had the experience, this is not somewhere i will ever recommend or ever come back to- someone else previously wrote spend the extra $50 and stay at the ibis and i can completely understand why! i just wish i read the reviews first this is no where near a 2 star hotel
i will be passing on to health and safety authorities, the emergency procedure is not practiced or non existent and the cleaning does not happen and from the review responses is just blamed on the staff rather than the management of the business.
the only positive i can give is the location, being in the city it was close to the events we were going to coming from regional WA.
