Google
Metropole was an excellent experience. I’ve visited twice in the past couple of months, and the rotating menu made each visit feel fresh and unique. The food was consistently delicious, but the cocktails really stood out. Each one was distinctive, thoughtfully balanced, and genuinely interesting, some of the best I’ve had anywhere in the city.

SO SO GOOD. Favorites were the wedge salad, garlic focaccia, and beef tartare, but everything else was so yummy. Very kind staff on a busy Friday night and everything was delicious. Will for sure come back again!

The restaurant was located in the hotel that my wife and I were staying in. I tried calling to make a reservation, but no one answered. On the voicemail I left my name and number, but I never received a call back. We just decided to go down stairs to see if we could get a table. The hostess told us it would be an hour wait for a table seat. She also offered us a seat at the bar, but we aren’t fans of sitting at the bar. We reserved the table, returned an hour later, and were seated. The waiter was nice and gave us his recommendation on the appetizer and entree. The food and drinks were extremely good! Overall it was a satisfying experience, but I wish they would’ve answered the phone or at least returned my voicemail when trying to make a reservation.

Great service and atmosphere. They were obviously used to accommodating guests before the shows next door. A few options for vegetarians. Just not impressed by the food. My dish (mushroom risotto) was the best of my groups orders. Would likely not return but I hear their brunch is fantastic.

I have been coming to Metropole since 2018. While it's always been a good experience, Chef Cory, the current executive chef, has elevated the dining experience to a level that is on par with Agni in Columbus. The skill demonstrated in his dishes is not commonly found in Cincy and will delight even the most experienced restaurant patrons. The gnocchi is outstanding and gave me pause after every bite. The beef cheek ravioli contains layers of complex flavors that somehow comes together so well. Finally, the cruller is made fresh and so delicious and warm that all of us had to order our own. Every dish we had was memorable and culminated in the best meal I've had in years. Highly recommend checking this place out, especially if you haven't been for a while.

I had dinner and breakfast here with my mom. First and foremost, the service was lovely both days: attentive, kind, and respectful! Both waitresses engaged in conversation with us and were very present. My highlights: the shrimp toast was amazing! So so fresh. The bread had a wonderfully soft texture that paired perfectly with the cold, crunchy shrimp salad. My breakfast was delicious. The potatoes were to die for-crispy skin, lots of flaky sea salt—perfect. They gave me a delicious tart jam to pair with my buttery, toasted sourdough. So fantastic. My mom didn’t love her breakfast as much as me. She had the eggs Benedict and said it was “okay.” She wished the coffee was stronger/richer. The homemade lemon cotton candy was creative and refreshing. The salmon dinner didn’t 100% meld for me. I loved the sauce and salmon, but the greens could have used a light vinaigrette. The potato chips didn’t add much to the dish for me. My mom got the gnocchi goat cheese and chicken. So deliciously rich with lots of great flavors and yummy breadcrumbs. We also got the cold asparagus-quite tasty! Overall a must try! Lots of creative and delicious meals.

Metropole is a must-visit. The French toast is incredible — perfectly crisp, soft inside, and not overly sweet. Aaron’s service truly made the experience exceptional. He was friendly, attentive, and gave great recommendations without being overbearing. He made our stay truly special, seeing his chipper self each morning. Fantastic food, outstanding hospitality, and a great atmosphere. Easy five stars.

Bar one night, restaurant the next day. BAR: Spent some time at the bar on December 13. First, the bartenders were attentive and pleasant. Second, the drinks are just okay and the prices are way too high! Like I’ve paid lower prices for drinks at some fantastic bars. Third, and worst, there were some patrons who clearly were over served. They were loud, obnoxious, and profane. If the bar wondered why there were only six people in there on a Saturday night look no further than the atmosphere of just awful behavior and no control of the situation. RESTAURANT: We went to brunch and it was a flat out joke. I had a reservation but no one was at the host area at all. Finally a bartender came out and seated us. FORTY-FIVE minutes or more to get a salad, biscuits & gravy, a side of sausage, and a side of goetta. The place WAS NOT crowded. The food was mediocre at best. And that side of goetta…LOL…FIVE DOLLARS for what was about the size of two postage stamps side by side. Same width as the stamps too. When I asked the server if that was really supposed to be the full side of goetta SHE LITERALLY LAUGHED AT ME. It was awful. It was so thin that it was burnt. It was like a side of burnt grease. That same server never came back one time to check in us. No pleasant anything with the service. It snowed the night before and there was dirty water all over the floor. No one cleaning, no one mopping. Just gross. This place used to be a hot seat to get. Those days are over. I would have been better off at McDonalds or Burger King. I’m giving two stars and that is extremely generous.

Yelp
We had reservations at 6:15 on a Saturday night. We were seated right away and our server Sean (sp) was lovely and very attentive. The space is open but cozy at the same time. We started with two glasses of the French rose- a well balanced wine that went with the dishes we ordered. We were torn between the focaccia with butter and oil, or the fancy focaccia. Sean suggested the fancy one. The focaccia was excellent, but it was covered with so much cheese (not stated in the description), that we could hardly taste the prosciutto jam. We would have much preferred to taste the fluffy bread with a good olive oil or butter and keep it pure. Our second starter was the spicy Ahi tuna toast. It arrived with a very unappetizing looking mixture of a tuna and black garlic mixture that did not look at all like we expected. And the pieces of brioche on which it was served was too thick. The taste was fantastic though. If this dish were tweaked to look better, we would order it again. For our mains we had the Wagyu ravioli, and the Salmon Au Poivre. Upon arrival at the table, the ravioli looked like it had too much sauce, but the sauce was so well-balanced and lighter than it appeared. It was SO delicious. The beef inside was tender and had great beefy flavor. You would think a pepper sauce with 5 kinds of pepper (Sean told us this) would be too strong for salmon, but oh no it was not! The salmon was cooked to a perfect medium rare and had crispy skin. Highly recommend. The bean puree underneath was tasty, but there was no discernable grilled artichoke in the frisee salad. There were two tiny piece of what tasted like canned artichokes. We have eaten at Metropole over the years with a few different chefs at the helm. Chef Cova is making a strong first impression with us. We will joyfully return to try more of his menu.

Yelp
Great spot... don't let the fact that it's a hotel restaurant fool you. I've eaten here at least half a dozen times and never been disappointed. You know it's going to be a good night when the bread service alone knocks your socks off... my wife and I order it every single time. The menu rotates often, so I've never had the same dish twice, which keeps things fun. We usually go before a Broadway show since it's directly across the street, and the convenience can't be beat. The staff is always warm and welcoming, and the cocktails are top notch... their dirty martini with blue cheese stuffed olives is one of the best in town. Even if you skip dessert, they bring out a little lemon cotton candy to cleanse your palate, which is such a cool touch. Metropole has style, substance, and consistency... definitely recommend.

Yelp
Stopped by for brunch on a Sunday. Seated quickly and server was lovely. Food did take some time to get to the table. Food itself was solid. I got the French toast and if you are a sweets fan this one is definitely for you!

Yelp
Thanksgiving ruined! Resturant has a ridiculous policy where you had to pay UP FRONT for a price fixed menu, then can not cancel from 72 hours before the DAY ( not the hour) of your reservation...despite being stuck on delayed flights. So did everything in our power to get to the reservation making it by minutes only to find out that our reservation time was "backed up" because the kitchen was slow. Told there were still reservations an hour ahead of ours still waiting to be seated and they couldn't tell me when we WOULD be seated. Wouldn't waive the cancel charge, or offer to let us take our meals to go... so now I'm out the entire cost of the reservation and no Thanksgiving dinner. Hostess could only say "oh well." MAJOR FAILURE METROPOLE.

Yelp
If you are planning to go I would highly recommend making a reservation. They also have bar seating available as first come first serve. They were out of crab tots however we tried their tuna tartar which was great alternative. We also tried their beef shoulder, ravioli and summer salad. The bartenders and servers were amazing and provided great recommendations and cocktail recommendations. Their cocktails are changed seasonally and crafted by their bartenders, which I found very unique and tasty. They were also able to serve us timely before our broadway show and asked us if we had any time constraints when initially starting to serve us. I look forward to visiting during their next seasonal menu change. This place in my opinion is definitely one of the top restaurants in Cincinnati.

Yelp
After a long day, I headed to Metropole's bar for a late-night bite (bar is open until 10:30pm on weekdays). The bartenders were friendly in that authentic way, where you can catch their ear for a minute, get great suggestions, and without being overbearing. The grilled octopus was everything I needed. Filling for a late-night last minute meal, a nice combination of protein and rich comfort, and absolutely perfectly cooked. Charred, crispy edges with a slightly bitter smoke complimented the tender meat inside. Paired with creamy grits? I was so happy. I stuck with a Phony Negroni on this night, which they presented with care in a rocks glass and a beautiful square ice cube. Perfect. Metropole has that effortlessly cool vibe that makes you want to linger a little longer.

Yelp
We hadn't heard much about Metropole so didn't know what to expect but we truly enjoyed our dinner. The restaurant was bright and modern. Our server did a stellar job, he was very helpful and friendly and did a nice job suggesting food and drink items. I had the Under Baroque Skies cocktail, which even though it came with a puff of cotton candy on top, was not over sweet. The cinnamon and pepper added some complexity to the sweetness of the fruit. My husband had Of The Gods cocktail, which he liked as well. As far as food, we started with the jam and cheese app, which was very unique, in a good way. For dinner, my husband got the Piri Piri Chicken and I had the Scallops which were both absolutely delicious! My scallops, unfortunately, were room temperature but they were so good, that I didn't send them back. A woman sitting next to us, got the same dish a little after us and sent hers back because they were cold as well. Something they might want to look into and fix for the future. Even with that misstep, I'd give my meal an A-. We had early reservations (5:30pm) so as expected at that time, the restaurant was pretty much empty. But it was still half empty when we left at 6:45pm which was surprising, especially considering there was a broadway show at the Aronoff across the street that night and it was restaurant week, which they were participating in. Hopefully they are usually busier than that or I don't see how they could remain open. We hope it does pick up for them because we'd love to go back when we're back in Cincinnati.

Yelp
Our dining experience at Metrople this past Sat was a delightful blend of comfort and creativity. We started with the roasted beet salad, a perfect balance of earthy beets, quark and apricot. We opted for the bread which was grilled and not one of my favs (note they do charge for replenishing). On to my short rib with mashed potatoes which was tender and rich, with a mild sauce that could've used a bit more punch. The hubs had the market fish (trout) served atop grilled grits, elevated by a silky carrot beurre blanc that added a subtle sweetness and elegance to the dish. We split the roasted cauliflower which was surprisingly a highlight of our meal. For dessert, we opted to share their vanilla ice cream which was smooth and creamy. The sweet potato pound cake, originally served cold (who eats cold cake?!) but once I sent back to request it be heated, stole the show with its moist texture and warm, spiced flavor. The attentive service and cozy yet refined atmosphere rounded out an enjoyable evening. Metropole is a must-visit for those who appreciate elevated comfort food with a creative edge. Make sure to check out the art at the attached 21C Museum Hotel before leaving.

Yelp
Food is good but the service was absent-minded. Despite being nearly empty on a Saturday morning, it took a while for someone to seat me. I had to go to the bar to ask if I should seat myself. She went looking for the host but couldn't find her. Sometime later she had to call her on a walkie. My waitress was also a bit absent-minded. She came by to get my drink order so I ordered an espresso. I told her I need more time for food. A while later, she came back and picked up my menu, not saying anything to me, so I just waited to see what was going on. Then she said, oh, I never came back to take your order! Did you want to order some food? Yes, yes I did ‍ I also didn't realize until my dish came out that she never asked me how I want my eggs. She did ask the table next to me how they want their eggs. Another weird staff thing was that another costumer had to come and ask me for the salt and pepper grinders on my table. No problem sharing. I looked around and saw a bunch by the waiter counter so I guess her waitress didn't bring any for her? I ordered the Goetta and Shishito Hash with Avocado on the side. The portion is very large. Easily 2 breakfasts for me. I was worried about the cook on the potatoes because they look really light but they are nice and crispy. They might be fried? The dish is greasy so a great option of you went out the night before The eggs came out over hard. Would not have been my choice but oh well. Next time: I'll try coming at night. Maybe the service is better. Plus I really want to try these fried deviled eggs!

Yelp
Let's get this out of the way first: kudos to Jeremy, who was AH-may-zing! Totally attentive, gave great recommendations, really understands the menu, provides those special touches. Moving on--previously I only had drinks here. Tonight I got to sit down for dinner. I was unfortunately only able to make it to the site at 9 PM, an hour before closing. I rarely ever enter a restaurant that late, but couldn't be helped this time. Neither Jeremy or management made me feel rushed. They still made me feel like a VIP. I had already had a horrible steak from another restaurant earlier in the day, so I avoided the steak (though I'm sure Metropole would have done it better). My server recommends the smoked chicken with piri piri, smoked yogurt, and pickled carrots, but I am not a fan of airline chicken (generally a thigh served on the bone--it's a me thing, not a them thing). He also recommended the scallops (sweet corn, uni ragout, nori brown butter, and potato chips), but I'm not big on scallops or shrimp. But the description is so appetizing, I might have to try it sometime. I landed on the pork loin "schnitzel," which was well breaded. Crispy on the outside, not over-cooked or burned. Moist pork inside. Outside bacon, this might be the first pork dish I've had in a decade or better. It was served with pickled peppers, herb salad, green apples, and fennel. Perfect blend of crispy, crunchy, savory, tart, spicy. I LOVED this dish. SO creative, fresh, a perfect combo of heavy and light. I also had the smashed Yukon gold potatoes made with rosemary and parmesan. These potatoes were so scrumptious and absolutely effing delicious. Crispy skin on the outside and melt-in-your-mouth softness on the inside. LOVED them. I had two bourbon based drinks that were smoky and palatable. I finished with "Friend of the Devil," a light, perky purple drink made with mezcal, tequila, spicy blueberry syrup, lime, and salt. Great end to the night. They have other sexy dishes and sides such as grilled cabbage with black garlic and beer, grilled asparagus with hollandaise, roasted monkfish, a smash burger, oysters, salads, and other starters. Can't wait to go back over and over during my hotel stay!

Yelp
Stopped in for an early dinner. There was a play across the street and it is restaurant week. Very surprised how many empty tables. Fun place with giant penguins scattered about. The service was very good Dave our waiter was helpful making suggestions. The cocktails were interesting and tasty and both enjoyed our mains. My only real issue was that when we had finished our meals and the table was cleared we waited a long time to get our bill.

Yelp
We went here for breakfast twice while staying at 21c. The service and quality was inconsistent. The first day service and food was very good. The avocado toast was loaded up and full of flavor. Second day the service was far more spotty and the food not at impressive. The brioche was burnt and there was minimal avocado and onions on it.

Yelp
There are plenty of great brunch spots in downtown Cincinnati and this is definitely not one of them. I was very disappointed by their brunch service. They are centrally located downtown at the 21C hotel but they were not busy for brunch on a nice Sunday morning. The tables were a bit sticky and our booth seating could use some upholstery, but overall the decor was nice. We ordered the brioche French toast and crab cake Benedict. The yolk of our poached egg on our Benedict was raw and when we brought our concerns to our waiter- she belittled us and asked us if we've ever had a poached egg before. When cutting into the poached egg, the yolk was light/ translucent yellow, slimy and all fell to one side instead of the classic runny egg yolk. The crab cake was crispy but the hollandaise sauce lacked any flavor. The French toast was soggy. At the end of our meal, the waitress did offer to notify the kitchen regarding our concerns.

Yelp
I normally give hotel restaurants a pass - as they tend to be safe 'down the fairway' fare at corporate (i.e. expensive) prices. As also, unless you're in a big city, cocktails are sadly mediocre (too sweet, fancy names, no follow up ..). Even the bread service with marrow butter was out of the ordinary "Of the Gods' cocktail showed some unique spunk. Grilled octopus with grits had an southern sophistication to it. The Burger was definitely magna cum laude (shortlist but not shoo in for summa cum laude in town). And good energy (pre-theater meets just chilling) One downside - hotel restaurant style pricing, but you could do a heck of a lot worse on downtown eating.

Yelp
We love Metropole! We stayed at 21C for a week last year for my birthday. We ate at Metropole once. We revisited this past Monday for dinner before a show. I love the ambiance of Metropole. It's comfortable and low-key, yet still quite fancy. I do love that the dress code is 'casual'. That said, there were some folks there dressed to the nines. Last year I remember the Crispy Deviled Eggs and Tuna Tartar. The deviled eggs are outstanding. I'm sorry we didn't get them again. We did, however, order the Tuna Tartar, which is a little flavor bomb! One of the best bites of the night. We did order oysters with raspberry cocktail sauce. It was a special and it certainly sounded delicious. They didn't hit the mark for us. The sauce was good, but the oysters were the slightest bit sandy and tasted more of the ocean than I'd prefer. I considered giving four stars just because of this dish, but everything else about Metropole is truly great. I started with a Hocus Pocus cocktail, which included a house made curry syrup. The last ingredient on the menu is "magic". This cocktail is truly magical. The flavors are difficult to explain. Suffice to say, it's unlike any cocktail any of us have ever tasted before. For dinner we ordered the Herb Brined Chicken and the Black Hawk Smash Burger. The chicken was fantastic. The chicken itself was moist and flavorful. The burnt carrot risotto was cooked to perfection. Everything else on the plate combined with the chicken was extraordinary. It was SO good! And... it was a LOT of food. Much as I tried, I still left a bit of the risotto behind. Mark thoroughly enjoyed his burger. He raved about everything, including the bun, which was apparently soft and actually had flavor that supported the burger itself. I can attest the fries were great because I stole a few from his plate. On to dessert. Last time we were here they had a corn ice cream that was unique and out of this world. On Monday I had a dip of chocolate and a dip of pumpkin. The ice cream melts exactly how a high end ice cream should. Mark ordered the Mocha Mousse, which as a nice size dessert that was simply delicious. I got a few bites. The mocha flavor was very present and the crunchy crust was fantastic with the more smooshy mousse. I absolutely recommend the Mocha Mousse dessert. Our waitress was kind and attentive with the perfect amount of attention for our dining needs. There are so many things we haven't tried, we will have to come back again and again.

Yelp
Excellent service and delicious food. Had the shrimp toast, sans English muffin, with greens instead. Shrimp perfectly cooked, flavorful remoulade with a kick of spice. Greens had a flavorful, tangy, vinaigrette.

Yelp
Visited tonight with family for a pre-show dinner. (Just across the street from the Aronoff). We arrived early and took advantage of the hotel museum while our table was being prepared. We were seated on tine for our reservation and given a host (David) who was attentive and considerate about pacing ourselves to get to the show on time. To start, we ordered a bit of everything for the table - bread, deviled eggs, blackened peppers, cheese and jam with toast, and oysters on the half shell. It was all great and fun that the table got to experiment with foods. We all tried something different for our main course and did a little sharing-steak, salmon, duck, and the excellent recommendation of the rigatoni bolognese. While we were pressed for time we still managed an olive oil cake with whipped cream and fig sauce for dessert - YUM Wonderful evening, food, and service. If you are headed downtown or to a show at the Aronoff - this would be a place to try!

Yelp
We had a great time at their Drag Brunch today for a great cause!! Chicken and waffles were delicious. Fun day!

Yelp
I recently found myself staying at 21c Museum Hotel in downtown Cincinnati on a work trip, one of their food offerings and connected to the Hotel is Metropole. I visited twice while I was staying there! The space is super cute with a fun tile on the floor and beautiful MCM style tables and chairs. They offer breakfast, lunch and dinner, which seems appropriate being connected to the hotel! They have a unique menu, with twists on classic dishes, such as fried devil eggs or pork belly breakfast burritos to name a few My first visit was for a late night bite. I wasn't able to order from their standard dinner menu, as I visited after a work event and stopped by around 10 PM. They do offer a late night menu though, which i was grateful for and love when restaurants do. It took a hot minute for anyone to great us up front, but we were given and menu and told to order at the bar when ready. The bartender was really great and friendly, she helped me narrow down my choices and I as on the mark with her recommendations. I opted for their burger that came with pickled red onions a delicious aioli amongst other delightful toppings. The burger was bomb and for $10 definitely hit the mark with quality. You can add fries for $6, which I did, because burgers and fries?! The fries did not hit the mark as much. They were good, but slightly pitiful for the price point. It could have been late night remnants, but the burger definitely stole the show. It was very flavorful and generous with toppings and extra juicy! The next morning, I didn't have time to venture outside the hotel and preferred to give their breaky a try then brave the airport options and prices. The place itself was not busy, but no one greeted me up front for about 5 minutes. They definitely seemed a bit in the weeds for some reason. I was offered a menu, though it seemed like an annoyance when I inquired on take out. I had already checked it out and knew I wanted the lox bagel to go and added an egg. I did ask the hostess how long she thought it would take, she let me know most likely 15-20 minutes, not horrible, not ideal but I thought I would give it a go. At the 20 minute mark, the hostess let me know it was about to come out. After a few more minutes and whether being avoided, since the food was not quite ready or she was just busy, I asked another server on an ETA. They came back a few minutes later saying it was going to be another 10 or so minutes. At that point I told them to cancel the order altogether and that I needed to head out. They weren't overly busy, and maybe it was just an off morning, but it felt a bit ridiculous for what I was ordering. I know that the front of house staff cannot control the speed of the back of house and vis versa, bur the service overall was a bit lacking and it felt like I was inconveniencing then. The food I did had I enjoyed, the vibe seemed nice, but overall service was a inconsistent.

Yelp
Yum! 5 star for the following and will be back! 1. Location: Great location downtown, walkable but parking is tough. Cincinnati is growing and I'm excited to see the change in the past two years visiting, wish I would found this spot last time. 2. Service: No frills no thrills! The hostess was nice, short and sat us. Box checked lol. Our waitress seemed like they were overloading her and she simply wanted to get the job done and keep moving on. 3. Food: Got the burger, wow, beyond anything I expected. The bun was like a Hawaiian bread sesame meets a amazing blend of something that was perfectly squishy and firm all the same. The burger was delicious and the fries were homemade and had a little more salt than I like but still super yummy. I'd come here on the regular for the burger and fries for sure! 4. Ambience So cute! Chic modern but classic beautiful interior decor! And the art gallery next door is fantastic! Love the dim lighting.

Yelp
As part of the 21c experience, Metropole dining doesn't depart from the unexpected! Pleasant environment, even on very busy nights, and personable staff who were delightful ( I include the yellow penguin who mysteriously showed up at our table) The menu is varied, fresh and most interesting and a post meal tour of the museum was a must. Will always return with O.U.T. friends or business folk, but most often, just for the fun of it!

Yelp
The Cacio e Pepe here is so good and I love the penguin theme. The wait staff is always really nice, and it was a good place to go for my anniversary.

Yelp
We loved our dinner here!!! Our red-headed server was absolutely the best Preparation & presentation is what you would expect from an upscale fine dining restaurant. The prices were reasonable. We had fried oysters, avocado salad and the strip steak. Only the steak wasn't a 10. On the though side. But those mashed potatoes.....Smash. absolutely the best. I want that recipe so I can eat a whole plate full. We tried every dessert on the menu. The olive oil cake was the clear winner!! They give you macaroons if you are celebrating a birthday and they were outstanding. I think it was peanut butter & jelly. Omg. Would definitely eat here again. Also we enjoyed having the mascot join us. Make a reservation for better seating options.

Yelp
I needed a nice restaurant, last minute to celebrate my great aunt's birthday. I asked for a table distanced away because my grandfather is very immunocompromised. They were able to accommodate, thankfully. Service was superb. They were not very busy while we were there. The ambience was high end but laid back. Very comfortable vibe. We all tried new things and shared our starters, entrees, and desserts. Definitely recommend.

Yelp
Metropole is the restaurant connected to 21c hotel, and is an ideal spot downtown. Recently came here for dinner and a dessert date. Dinner service was nice, and food was delicious. The deviled eggs were a delight, and I recommend the short rib pappardelle. The Caesar salads dressing is very light, and I do tend to like a bit more of it or it to be creamier. My partner got the salmon, which was cooked perfectly, however the rest of the dish was a lot of mixed beans-not the most exciting side with it. Desserts are a nice sweet treat to end the meal with or enjoy as a stand alone on a visit. I appreciate that they take reservations here too.
google avatar

Paulette F.

Yelp
Great ambiance and service. The salmon was cooked perfectly! To note - I was confused by the accompaniments, and my potatoes and lentils were undercooked. However, neither was enough to dissuade me from reordering as the salmon was absolutely delicious.

Yelp
One of the best meals we've had in a long time! The service was impeccable, the mocktails were unique, the food was perfect, and dessert was divine. I can't believe it took us this long to find this restaurant and we will certainly be back soon.

Yelp
As far as hotel restaurants go, Metropole is a solid choice, but this review is very specifically about their french fries. Normally, I wouldn't even give fries a passing mention, but Metropole's are so incredibly perfect, I needed to spend some time describing them to you. Imagine if you will, the fried dough debris that comes with an order of hush puppies. Now think a little bit about that greasy crispy sastisfaction of scooping up those little crunchy bits and cleaning your plate like you are a human vacuum cleaner. As you're sitting there dreaming, and smiling, swap out the hush puppies with potatoes. Perfectly cooked, crispy, greasy, not soft at all but somehow fluffy like clouds inside. Imagine that for a moment, and then make some reservations at Metropole to try them yourself. They are, without a doubt, some of the best fries I've had, ever. And if our server is correct, the secret is not only a double fry, but they freeze them in-between. Regardless of how they do it, god damn! The fries, they are amazing.

Yelp
Wonderful meal and fantastic service! My husband and I had dinner here this weekend and thoroughly enjoyed the experience. So much so that my husband is already planning our next visit. After ordering cocktails - The Chevalier is absolutely divine! - we ordered the special appetizer of Hearth Oysters. They came on a bed of salt and beautifully garnished. Very tasty. The complimentary bread and butter is also nice. Our entrees were Salmon for the husband and Short Rib for me. Both of us found our meals to be just perfect! Prepared to perfection and delicious. The short rib was so tender the knife provided was unnecessary. The beans still had a bit of firmness and seasoned just right. Our server, Jeremy, was personable and provided excellent service. The complimentary Lemon Cotton Candy at the end of the meal was a nice treat. We will definitely be back soon!

Yelp
We celebrated an anniversary with dinner here and had an outstanding experience. The staff accommodated some special requests when reservations were made perfectly. Everything was superb. The staff was very friendly but the food was one of my Top 10 meals I've ever had. We started with the bread and oysters. The oysters were fresh and served with a horseradish jam that was a very good mix of savory and sweet. I had the steak for the main course and my wife had the scallops. Unbelievable in taste and presentation on both. One of us usually has entree envy of the other but we were both in heaven. We shared the olive oil cake for dessert and that was the final touch on a perfect dining experience. The restaurant is perfectly located across from the Aronoff so you can't go wrong enjoying a meal here before or after a show. If I could give more than 5 stars, I would!!

Yelp
I have not been to the Metropole for ten plus years simply because their dining chairs are painful if you are of any size at all. The corner posts dig into your leg and thigh terribly. I was looking to see if perhaps they have changed them to make a reservation, but it does not look like they have. It's a shame because otherwise the place is nice and the food good.

Yelp
I usually head over here for a couple drinks before going to the Arnoff and it's always enjoyable! They are usually busy, but the Team is very attentive and you don't have to wait long for service. Drinks are switched up frequently and make for fun afternoon/evening. The interior is nice & dim - a little moody, which is always nice.

Yelp
Came in for my 25th birthday & everything was great! Jeremy, our server, was awesome!! Smoked chicken and grilled ribeye were yummy. Definitely get the potatoes and cabbage as sides, full of flavor.

Yelp
Vibes: minimalistic, artsy, casually sophisticated; bring a date or a couple friends Tasting notes: -Acorn squash: savory char is the predominant flavor; squash itself is on the firmer side requiring a knife to slice; pomegranate offers a contrasting sweetness and slight tartness that is refreshing but subtle -Fazzoletti: noodles were fall-apart soft; bolognese was very flavorful with noticeable fennel; surprisingly generous amount of burrata that provided just enough milkiness to contrast the umami-rich bolognese -Sweet tea-brined chicken: loved the crackly crispiness of the chicken skin; meat itself was incredibly tender and juicy; farro was toothsome and salty; onions were caramel-y sweet with a bit of tang from balsamic -Gelato (2 flavors): buttermilk strawberry was more icy, strawberry flavor was very fresh; white chocolate lavender was super airy and soft, texture much like whipped yogurt, with lavender petals interspersed Other thoughts: - Bread service was toasted slices of country bread with seedy crust and unsalted whipped butter - Service was very attentive and friendly - The above dishes satisfied two moderately hungry adults; would recommend an extra appetizer to fill out the meal - Paper menus offered - We were sent home with lemon cotton candy!

Yelp
Metropole sent me home with this breakfast order today. I can't believe they charged me $16 for this Extremely burnt toast. There is nothing salvageable here. How could they not have noticed this. It even smells burnt. I won't ever be going there again.

Yelp
Get the Burnt Carrot Salad, you won't regret it. Metropole is good for cocktails, dinner, or dessert! Beware they are not currently seating at the bar, so you'll have to get a table even if you're just grabbing a drink. Prices are on the high end for the portion size, but everything I've had is great quality. Would return

Yelp
Came for dinner before a show at the Aronoff. We made 5:30 reservations and glad we did as it got very packed around 6 PM! We opted for cocktails on recommendation of our waiter who was AMAZING. He was quick, attentive and witty. We split the famous grilled carrot salad and I appreciated that they split it on two separate plates when serving which made it so much easier than trying to smoothly transfer the salad onto another plate. For dinner I had the Salmon, it was juicy, flavorful and sooo crispy. My boyfriend had the burger and their classic fries. The fries were surprisingly so flavorful and the burger juicy and topped with the perfect amount of cheese. We split the Metropole Candy Bar for dessert with a scoop of Malt ice cream. This was the perfect ending to our meal - so rich, light, crunchy - everything all in one! Definitely will be back for dinner again - this is definitely worth it for a little splurge!

Yelp
We stayed at the 21c hotel and would come back solely for the service we received from Alex at the Metropole bar!! She was the best bartender, knew our drinks after the first night and made the best mojitos!! All around she is what made our stay here worth while

Yelp
Ambiance and vibe was a bit sterile. Food was marginal and overpriced. Wait staff was mediocre and not friendly and kept us waiting forever for dessert when the restaurant had completely emptied. The scallops and beet salad were good but ridiculously overpriced. The complimentary ice cream sandwich offered for a birthday celebration was tiny and about the size of a Oreo cookie. Very embarrassing. Also ordered the cheesecake and the compote topping was distasteful and bad. Told this to the waiter and he did nothing but say "yeah I will pass it along to the kitchen." Unfortunately, we all agreed the dining experience was underwhelming and we won't be returning. Not sure if they care though.

Yelp
The thing that stands out about Metropole is the service. I trusted my experience to the capable hands of my server and was able to fully relax into the meal. That's what I look for in fine dining and Metropole didn't disappoint on this count. While service was outstanding, the food was mostly good but not great. For me, the standout dish was the burrata starter. The grilled bread, creamy cheese, and crisp greens hit all the right notes when combined. It felt like a taste of what this experience could be. The crispy deviled eggs were a great idea and the filling delicious, but the egg whites were tough and chewy. The bread service was unremarkable. The lobster campanelle tasted fishy instead of flavorful and my lemon tart had a lackluster crust. That being said, I may have made some poor choices. My friend loved her scallops, so I'd probably go for those next time around. Come early and look at the art; it makes for lovely dinner conversation.

Yelp
Quick service on a Sunday morning. Had the omelette with a side of bacon and it was excellent. This is a classic American breakfast restaurant. Has a unique touch with the penguins

Yelp
My daughter my friend and I came here for brunch before seeing a play and it was perfect start to an amazing day. I ordered the breakfast 21 which 2 eggs over easy goetta (my favorite) potatoes and charred tomatoes. I forgot to say we started off with one the best Bloody Marys I have ever had the pleasure to drink. Not only is the food delicious but the atmosphere is so much fun. The yellow penguins everywhere and the camels all over. It's a treat to come here. Don't miss it

Yelp
A very pleasant meal. Located off the 21C Hotel lobby, the restaurant is very comfortable. The cocktails are creative and tasty. The large plates are well prepared. The Brined Chicken was exceptional. The service is attentive.

Yelp
Brunch is best served with a drag show! This place is beautiful, fun, and serves up some killer food. A friend of mine had reservations for drag brunch that I was able to sneak into. $35 for a prixe fixe menu, including a mimosa and an awesome show, is a win any morning. These shows are booked out months in advance so call today to get on a waitlist for an upcoming one or get your name down for one in the future.

Yelp
Stopped in for breakfast after a stay in the hotel- left pleased! The waitress was super kind and willing to talk artsy stuff with us as we had questions with the gallery. If you didn't know, you can take your drink from Metropole into the galleries... it was nice to have a coffee in hand! Hubs and I both ordered the 21c Breakfast with eggs, goetta, potatoes, tomatoes and toast. Everything was good, especially the goetta. The portion for me was huge so I felt bad wasting so much but I do appreciate the size! Hubs almost polished his off. I personally think their coffee could use a little boost, it wasn't necessarily amazing (we didn't even get refills). That was the only lackluster of our breakfast! Everything else, including service was very well done! Now I just need to get back in for that carrot salad.... yum!

Yelp
I rarely review restaurants. Unless I have an incredibly good or an incredibly bad experience. Fortunately this was a negative experience. I'm in town on business and wanted to grab a " quick" breakfast before heading out. I checked in and the host was eating breakfast with his family which is fine (but a little strange). When he noticed me he got right up and was very cordial and seated me right away. After that the waiter came who was very attentive and friendly and took my order. I tried to order an omelette but they were out of mushrooms. So I switched to the generic meat and eggs breakfast with bacon. The waiter never asked how I wanted my eggs done so then I chased him down and said I wanted my eggs over easy. The breakfast arrived... Aside from the toast being hard around the edges and the bacon being overcooked... My eggs were anything but over easy. They were over hard. I then asked to have them remade. They promptly obliged and apologized. When the second eggs came out they were almost as bad. I guess they could pass for over medium. After all of that... They asked if I was staying at the hotel and I said I was but I wanted to handle this bill separately at which point they told me their system was down. None of these things would be that problematic by themselves, but all of them together in one morning is unacceptable. It was literally one of the worst breakfast experiences I've ever had. The only positive I can say is that the staff was very friendly. But they need a new breakfast cook.

Yelp
We went here to celebrate my brother's birthday and had a great time. We arrived a little early so we could order drinks form the bar and walk around the hotel to admire the art on display. I started off with Persephone's descent: gin, pomegranate, spiced wine, Genepy, absinthe. Yum! Once we got to our table we started off the bread service. The bread itself was good, but the marrow butter had virtually no flavor. Regular salted butter would have been a big improvement. We then split the crispy deviled eggs and the burrata. The deviled eggs were good. The burrata came with grilled bread, concord grape, bitter greens, peanuts, and poppy. It almost tasted like a very fancy yummy pb&j..... haha. My partner and I split the little gem caesar salad. I liked the salad even though it's definitely not a traditional caesar dressing. There are no anchovies and it's lemon heavy (as the description states). I ordered the tagliatelle for my entree. The pasta came in a butternut squash sauce with lobster, sage, caramelized fennel, and crispy speck. Very very good with lots of lobster. My partner ordered the ricotta gnocchi, which is only available Friday-Sunday. The ricotta comes with smoked pork sugo, carrot, and oregano. The pork stood out as the best part of the dish. Others at the table ordered the roasted duck breast, cavatelli cacio y pepe, and bourbon barrel soy brined chicken. All 3 were enjoyed!

Yelp
This review is for the Rooftop Bar area only! Waited in line in the side alley next to Nicholson for bar to open at 5pm on Saturday 09.14.24. The downstairs doorman sat under an umbrella eating a sandwich while we waited and contacted by walkie-talkie from the bar on the 11th floor -escorted us to the elevator lifting 5 at a time to the roof. This was initially a pretty invigorating experience and made you feel a bit elite, however when we got upstairs, there was NO one in sight to be found, no instructions or signage about "seating yourself" or any hostess to greet you with a smile. We waited over 15 minutes for someone to finally come out and take our order of cocktails. When they finally come out, it took another 15 minutes to get the cocktail with us was given their bill and paid for their drinks FIRST before receiving them! When asking the waiter where the drink was, he said, "Well I I gave them the bill first because it would be faster and all the order tickets are lined up on the bar so you'll JUST have to wait." As we were going down stairs for dinner and had reservations we were very inconvenienced and turned off by what should've been a great experience. A Gorgeous, wonderful view and good (albeit costly @$15.00 for a glass of Leyda Pinot Gr & @$14.00 for a Makers Manhattan) cocktails - BUT not the 5 star level of service you'd expect from a restaurant and bar if this caliber! Waiter #85 Alex CT ch 4426 rang in at 5:19pm 9/14/24 needs a bit of coaching on high end service and what that means to all paying customers looking and paying for a high end experience celebrating a momentous milestone. Definitely not Jeff Ruby's level of expert service. Seems they need to hire a hostess, get some signage, hire an additional bartender, and mentor some of their staff! (Another waiter and waitress brought the cocktails and glasses of water and they were divine, but our actual weight was definitely lacking and skills and time management.) * other kids had a similar experience and they were three different couples who walked out after not being greeted or waited on. People were entering and walking around, asking us if they could sit anywhere and what the "deal" was! Very odd and unsatisfying experience for a high end restaurant business!!
