One of the best when it comes to service and communication. The gang took care of a high-end disassembly, package and cross country ship on a tight schedule, going above and beyond with a ton of documentation along the way. Will be back and would highly recommend. 👊❤️

We’re lucky to have such a great bike shop in Detroit. Bought a beautiful 1980s Centurion touring bike here years ago and more recently brought in an old Trek multitrack for a gravel/bikepacking conversion. Few years back we traded in a bike for a beautiful pink Surley Midnight Special. Shayne helped us and did an excellent job. Fast forward to today… after a flat on our ride, stopped in for some air and a valve cap. Whether it’s a high end bike purchase or a freebie, Shayne and the crew are doing all the things well. Metropolis Bike shop hosts some awesome people who got me two wheels for the road. The whole sale started when I called in to check if Metropolis had the bike I was looking for in stock, and when they confirmed it I was directly to their easy online shop to pay. They were courteous enough to hold my bike at the shop for a few weeks so I could drive up and retrieve it. When I came to the store I was given a friendly greeting and they immediately got my new ride. They had me roll around on the neighborhood street to test it and adjusted the seat accordingly. Per my request they showed me how to lube the chain, remove the front wheel, and some basic maintenance and safety. I noticed they even kindly put on some pedals before I came in (the bike did not come with them). At the end they even offered to help me put my bike in the trunk. Buttery smooth transactions and knowledgeable smiles dominate this bike shop. Thanks for the help bringing me to the Surly family, gentlemen!

One of the two bike shops where I will allow my bikes to be serviced. I’m obsessive about taking care of my bikes and these cats do an incredible job and the prices are very reasonable. Also a great place to buy a new or used bike at a reasonable price, sure you can find a used bike on craigslist, but these bikes come professionally tuned up, which is well worth it. You also can rely on the expertise of the staff to find a bike that not only suits your needs, but fits you. What are you waiting for, go there.

Really helpful! My partner and I came in with almost no knowledge about what we wanted in a bike, and we were able to try several out and take our time picking bikes that were comfortable for us. Super thankful for this shop.

This is a great full-service bike store and shop. Selling both new and used bikes; you can also trade in your bike as well. Additionally offering tune-up's, repairs, and the team does custom bike and wheel builds as well. I was in desperate need of a bike that could handle more city miles and riding after struggling commuting around the city on a mountain bike. I initially called the shop to see if they had any bikes in-store within my price point that fit my height/weight and within an hour of riding up there I was leaving the store with a new bike. I was able to trade-in my mountain bike and apply the funds toward discounting the nice new hybrid Batch bike I purchased. Purchasing a new bike here also includes a 1year free tune up as well. Great experience and find myself often recommending others here. Bikes for sale here at all price ranges and different types of riding, as well as selling any accessories/tires/helmet/supplies in store. Also have a website that shows current inventory that they keep pretty up to date!

Excellent service!!! From the 1st phone call I placed to going to the store!! They could have really got over on me as I know nothing about bikes and tire maintenance but when I brought my bike in expecting to pay for new tires and tubes (thinking that's what I needed) Shane told me you can walk out of here spending $0 because all you need is some air in your tires !! I ended up leaving spending $2 because I bought a rubber stopper for my kick stand i couldn't resist spending something!!! I so appreciate the honesty and helpfulness I received, truly kind good honest people here at this business!! They'll have my business from here on out & my referral!!!

Had a Rad e-bike that wouldn't turn on. Rad listed the Metropolis Bike Shop as a shop that could service my bike. Great bike shop! Within 2 hours they had diagnosed the problem and had my bike ready to go. Couldn't ask for better service; very reasonable; beautiful shop. Will go there for all my biking needs in the future.

Metropolis Cycles is very professional, efficient, and personal..They care about your bike and treat you like family....I have confidence in them and I have waited until they open to service me...It is worth it....They know bikes and carry nice accessories..

I was happy to find that Metropolis has bikes for sale during covid - - new and used. I traded in my old wheels on a nice, used cruiser. The staff is very helpful, offering multiple options, making sure the bike 'fits'. They have a nice selection of accessories too.

Okay, folks. I'm grateful for Yelp right now. I walked in today and Joe was AMAZING. He let us try out bikes in the drizzly, gloomy weather and was super patient with us being bike noobies. I had no clue how to put my electric bike together and after looking at a few places I was fortunate to find this place. They not only assembled my bike but it was inexpensive and the staff- excellent and helpful. I bought a combination lock for the bike and unfortunately forgot the combination after I was supposed to return for some recommendations by Joe! If you're reading this guys - please help- lol

Every now and then you find a business that is owned and operated by stand up people who care. Buy your bikes and get them serviced from Detroit's most knowledgeable and chill experts. You won't be sorry.

Metropolis is a shop of folks who know and love bikes. That should go without saying, but it's something that is hard to find in the bike world these days. They have taken care of a few of my bikes in the past and I've always been more than satisfied with the prices and service-- ranging from routine tune-ups to repairing brackets, cranks, and handlebars, or just advising on potential solutions to any and all problems bicyclical. They have a small selection of used bikes but carry Fairdale, Bianchi, and some other brands I'm less familiar with. They also carry apparel products (jerseys, clever t-shirts), bags (Arkel, etc.), and, of course, pedals, tools, and a number of kinds of bar tape, etc. The shop also hosts a Monday night ride, which I can never make, but it's a great time with some great people.

Friendly, helpful bike shop. Have stopped there for new helmets, clothing, to talk about bikes. Offered advice on pedals and other gear. Highly recommend - also have a shop in West Villages.

Best bike shop in Detroit, these guys have it all and do it all. Top notch service with a really fast turn around time. Everything they stock is very quality as well. I Have purchased a tire pump and several locks and everything is holding up great. If you need a bike or a tune up/ parts these are the guys you want to see.

Metropolis is a quality bike shop in Corktown. They did a great job assembling my bike quickly and for a reasonable price. The staff is friendly and offered good advice. Hours are good and the location is bike and car friendly.

I was in town for a few days and had some issues shifting. Joe and I scheduled a time to get my bike fixed so I could use it to get around in the meantime. Then I was in and out of the shop in under an hour. These folks are really knowledgeable and have great tips for biking in Detroit.

I recently moved to downtown Detroit and was searching for a city store to buy some cycling shoes. I happened upon Metropolis Cycles in Corktown and was excited to find an attractive, well stocked, nicely displayed store with helpful sales people. They had my size and I found some other items I needed too! Fairly priced and helpful staff! Highly recommended!

The brakes on my mom's rolling walker was broke. I was told to take it to a bike shop. I saw the excellent reviews and I decided to check them out. They we absolutely wonderful. It ended up being more work then we anticipated, but they fixed it.

Shane, Ted, and the rest of the gang here our extremely helpful and knowledgeable. Service is top of the line. Good prices and a great selection of bikes and equipment! With all the new bike shops opening in Detroit, Metropolis stands out by far! Glad we have it here in Corktown!!

These guys are the absolute best. I've spent 9 years in the city and couldn't ask for a better, more knowledgable, and friendly staff. Repaired and updated my bike in a quick and monetarily efficient manner. Big ups to Shayne for being patient and getting my bike back to perfect running order.

Corktown has a much needed bike shop staffed by veterans of the Detroit bicycle scene. The founders renovated a long neglected storefront into a beautiful business. Keep your money in the D!

This place is great!! They took care of my two bicycles with tune ups and repaired the bearings!! Prices are reasonable and the service was GREAT!! Thanks again guys they ride better then when I first purchased them!

I moved to Detroit a few months ago and wandered into Metropolis looking for a group ride. Joe and Ted were helpful and generous with their time. They told me about their Monday night ride -- kudos for running through Winter -- and I showed up for quite a few. Just this week, I brought my bike in for maintenance for the first time. Ted (correctly) estimated when it would be ready when I dropped it off, addressed the entirety of my rather long maintenance list and charged a reasonable fee. These guys run a good shop. They're clearly part of the local cycling community and they clearly love bikes. They bothered to learn my name. Their events are well-attended by friendly bike nerds and it was evident that they took care in fixing up my bicycle -- not least because it came back to me considerably cleaner than it was delivered. Recommended without reservation if you need something fixed or if you're looking to connect with the local cycling community.

Stopped in to just get a flat fixed. As always, the people at Metropolis exceeded expectations. They also happened to clean and relube my chain and even wiped off all the wax lubricant I had spilled all over my ride. You simply cannot go wrong with a bike shop that has tacos at its grand opening.

Happened to stumble cross this new shop and inside was Joe! We were greeted by Joe fairly quickly upon walking in, and let him know we were just looking around, until we fell in love with the Bianchi bikes they carry! Joe was super knowledgeable and helpful - and let me sit on a few and try them out. I ended up picking out a strada and Joe was able to swap some bigger tires on it with no extra charge. He gave me an awesome tutorial on the gears and how to switch between them, and also gave us some accessories at a discount. A couple months later, my girlfriend was looking to buy me a saddle for my birthday, as she remembered me gawking at the Brooks saddles in the display case while we were there buying the bike. She said when she walked in Joe walked right up to say hi to her and ask how the bike was! So awesome that he remembered us from our one and only time there. Since buying the bike here, I've told several friends looking to buy new bikes to check Metropolis out and to talk to Joe. Customer service goes a long way in a bike shop, especially for people who aren't too knowledgeable and are just starting out. Because of Joe - we will come to Metropolis for all our biking needs, and will continue to tell our friends and family to go there too! Thanks Joe!

I have been to this shop 4-5 times. I honestly thought I was working with trustworthy people. I first noticed something was wrong when I was quoted a price for a repair and when I picked up my bike it changed. I thought what's $15. This happened another time, I was given a price and it changed when I picked up my bike. There are hidden fees that the staff does not inform you of. One of the workers also made a smart remark to a concern I had, basically making fun of it. I was planning to buy a new bike from the shop, I will take my future business to another shop after this experience. They may have gained profit in hidden fees, but lost a sale in a bike. If you plan to use this shop please pay attention to price changes. Ask "What are ALL prices with changing parts". Do not pay for something you did not agree to.

The guys are the real deal. Brought my bike in for a tube replace. They fixed it within 15 mins and tuned my friend's bike up real nice. Their repair prices are fantastic!

I just went in to get my tire fixed and now my bike rides better than the first time I ever rode it. They were awesome and friendly even when showed up 10 minutes before closing.

Took my bike in at closing with major gear and brake problems. Had it fixed in excellent condition the next morning. Price was more than reasonable. They really seem to enjoy what they are doing at Metropolis.

I live in Midtown and have tried Midtown bike shops but now I go out of my way to use Metropolis Cycles. Excellent service, extremely quick turnaround. Workers are attentive, polite, and professional. The place is clean and well organized.
