Our stay at the Metropolitan was a delight and truly a highlight of our trip to Canada! Beginning with Lance, our bellman. He is such an asset to your staff with his charming personality and wonderful customer service. He went above and beyond to help with our luggage and take the time to give us restaurant recommendations. Our room was quiet, very clean, and excellently appointed with a great view. Beds were so comfy, too! Breakfast in the hotel restaurant was delicious. We were amazed with the first-class presentations and quality of our breakfasts. Thank you for the wonderful stay and give Lance a raise!😊

Spent a night here on a stop over to Prince Rupert. Location is great and a short walking distance from  the waterfront and Canada place. Everything is close by including Robson Street and a host of great restaurants. Rooms were of a good size, and the bed and pillows were amazing. Did not have breakfast but  made use of their paid parking facilities. It's a bit steeply priced, but most hotels in Vancouver are expensive after the pandemic.

This was our first stay at the Metropolitan. The staff was fantastic and made the stay great. They were friendly, remembered our name and greeted us by name when they saw us. Service was quick when we needed anything. The Diva restaurant was also really good. Our family enjoyed the food and great service. Definitely recommend staying here.

We are return visitors and love this place. The rooms are always nice and clean, plus very spacious.|The staff is spot on, we love seeing Ira’s smiling face upon every arrival.|Peter at the front desk is always very welcoming.|The breakfast staff was great also, Fernanda, Roberto & Luana gave us excellent service. Leslie, the chef greeted us every morning with a big smile.|As a Bonvoy Titanium guest we wish that a full breakfast would have been included, unfortunately we were only aloud a continental!|We hope to see you soon.|Aloha

Staff was incredible, rooms were dated, but so clean and nice. Offering of bottled water, flavored water dispensers, and coffee were such great perks for us. Perfect location and was able to walk a couple blocks straight to the cruise terminal.

The hotel is located in the heart of Vancouver. Just a few steps walking distance from Vancouver City center station where the airport direct train services stops. Robson street which is a local shopping street is also in a walking distance. |The check in and out procedure is quick and the hotel staff is really kind, helpful. |Rooms are spacious, well equipped and clean. You can find a tea/coffee maker in the room and a small fridge as well. Complimentary bottled water is also offered. |The bathroom was very clean and big. The bed is really comfortable, I slept well. I was really happy that they have a small balcony and the door can be opened so you can get some fresh air into the room. If I am travelling to Vancouver again, I will definietly choose this property again.

Clean and comfortable room with everything you might need. Hotel is well located and we had a good couple of days here. Quiet room on 10th floor two lifts available. Pool area very clean although pool was a degree or two cooler than I am used to it was nice to swim in.

Stayed one night pre-cruise. The hotel itself seemed to be in a great location. It was a 10 minute walk to the port and right off the Canada Line. We were easily able to get to Granville Island, Capilano Suspension Bridge and Stanley Park. The rooms themselves could use some work. First, I will note they were clean so no issues there. My main issue was the windows. Our window seemed to have lost all sound and weather insulation. We had it shut and yet a breeze kept hitting me and the outside sounds penetrated all night as if it were open. I have noted other reviews with this same issue. Secondly, the rooms seem dated. The bathroom remains huge with a tub and older shower stall and all marble. That said the huge bathroom makes the actual room tight especially with four people. Carpet was thick and plush but tough to roll suitcases. All in all the hotel was fine. I debate a three or four right now (3.5 seems right) but given the cleanliness I went with fourWith some room renovation the rating would easily climb but in the meantime expect a clean place to lay your head in a good location but bring your ear plugs.

Yelp
Stayed here for a couple nights! Great location , friendly staff, and yummy breakfast, good house keeping service! Forewarn, I checked in via app. Requesters for extra towels and pillows. Also, informed them I am briefing my little pup. When got to the hotel reception. I had to remind them. Therefore, room was not ready when I checked in passed 4pm(normal check in time) We got complimentary breakfast(continental). We got to pay $7 extra is wanted to order outside of continental breakfast. The yogurt smoothie bowl was a huge portion. Took it to go to eat as late night snack. Next morning ordered the avocado toast off the menu. Best avocado toast ever. Hubby order the eggs Benedict each time. The potatoes were extra crispy The hotel is dog friendly. However, no potty areas and only allowed in designated areas. We had to walk a block to find a grassy area to do his business. The parking lot is very narrow. We opt to self park. Be good at backing in!! And driving thru narrow areas. Lots of local Asian restaurants close by if it your thing. Coffee and bakeries and shopping too. I would definitely stay again.

Yelp
Great location and friendly staff. My only complaint is that the shower was a bit small, but other than that, I was very pleased with my stay here.

Harris P.

Yelp
Great location, around 6/7 minutes walking from subway station, 10-15 minutes walk to waterfront, very close to a lot stores and restaurants. Feel safe when we walk back to hotel around midnight. The hotel is an old building but renovated! The bathroom is very spacious. There's a small balcony. The front desk staffs were very friendly.

Michelle L.

Yelp
Great location! Close to a bunch of attractions and great food spots. Easy walk to Stanley Park. The staff was very friendly and informative. The bed was comfy and the bathroom was spacious!

Yelp
Fine stay with helpful staff in a wonderful central location. Highlights: - Staff: prior to arriving they contacted us via email to see if there was anything we needed. They helped us identify late night restaurants that would be open and contacted those to check which were ok to bring a kid which we greatly appreciated. - Rooms: nice and clean with comfortable beds. - View: cool to see the city buildings. - Mini fridge: nice to have for leftovers and cold waters. - Water: provided a bottle per person a day and had chilled fruit infused water downstairs - Location: many restaurants within a few blocks away, easily accessible to the train, and 10 min walk to the harbor. - Has a restaurant: we didn't eat or drink there, but nice to have the option. Lowlights: - Can't see the water from the hotel: we didn't book for that so wasn't expected though so was fine ;-) We enjoyed our stay and would return.

Yelp
Let me begin by saying this hotel may be in the best location. Right across the street from the best shopping and tons of dining. The hotel itself is excellent as well. Newly renovated and extremely clean, my stay was wonderful. Highly recommend. The restaurant in the lobby was great for breakfast. Only small thing is the gym is very outdated. If that is not something you need than this place is near perfect.

Eurasia L.

Yelp
Yes I recommend this hotel! Great location where I can explore the big buildings, Robson street, the convention center, and many many more tourists attractions. I didn't know this but I'm glad we stayed at this hotel. It is super clean and well kept even during it's busier times. Staff is wonderful and attentive. We were very pleased. Not to mention how comfortable the beds are and meticulously prepared including the bathroom. In this hotel, they have most of the amenities people look for. For example, a swimming pool, gym and even a sauna for both men and women located in each rooms. Since we drove here, we were accommodated with a good parking space and it is safe. It wasn't busy when we stayed here so we were able to book without any hassle and the price was very reasonable. It's a great hotel. I asked around and some have booked here several times already! How nice! There you have it!

George M.

Yelp
The only thing good about this hotel is it's excellent location. Otherwise, it hasn't been updated since 1979. Lumpy bed, furniture is beat up, and the bathroom smells, mildewed shower curtain, poorly working 70s era shower head, light fixture falling off the ceiling. And this is supposed to be an "upgraded" room

Michelle N.

Yelp
Booked several rooms with friends for a trip to Vancouver and although we had lots of outings, it's always nice to know you're coming back to sleep in a comfortable place. Metropolitan Hotel was great in some aspects, but some issues arose that dampened our stay. Staff is excellent - doormen are always wiping down the doors to sanitize, and are always welcoming you in by holding the door open, or saying goodbye as you hit the town. Their Fitness center, albeit small, gets the job done for a quick workout. There's two treadmills, a good amount of dumbbells, some pulley machines and get this - a bench press rack! Rarely do I ever see a barbell with a rack available at Hotels! I didn't get to visit the pool, but it looked long enough to do a few short laps. Our room for the most part was fine, typical two bed that was comfortable. However, the bathroom definitely had issues. The toilet kept running due to the stopper inside the tank not being closed, and we had to manually keep fixing it otherwise it'd keep making a loud running noise. The AC seemed off, as some times it got too hot, other times too cold. The TV was bugging out and had a lot of delay when we tried to use the remote. Overall the Hotel got the job done for a quick weekend trip, but I definitely stayed in better lodgings.

Dave B.

Yelp
Great pre-cruise location! We were looking for a pre-cruise stay and happened upon this hotel. Very easy to get to from YVR via the subway/train. If you do happen to be cruising, it was right down the street about four easy walking blocks from the ships. Well appointed and friendly staff. If we are back in Vancouver we will certainly stay here again.

Yelp
My lady and I chose the 'Metropolitan Hotel' several times on what we called "mini-trips", and attending cultural and other events in downtown Vancouver. The hotel's location (across from the Pacific Centre Mall) was ideal, handy to what we had planned for our stay, and so convenient to dining, walkabouts, browsing / shopping, and such throughout the various areas of the city's downtown core. Service was fantastic there - friendly, cordial, and accommodating. Our rooms were always located on the front side of the building (our choice), neat and clean, and very nicely and comfortably-furnished. The bathrooms were great, large and bright. No 'wow' catching views from the room locations we had, but that was of little concern to us during these stays. We enjoyed getting out & about, and thoroughly enjoyed the comforts of our room at all the other times. We did breakfast there a during a couple stays (when it was included with our room rate), but otherwise chose to dine elsewhere in the neighbourhood for meals when desired. We often just enjoyed catching take-out, and dining in our rooms. The 'Metropolitan' offered some fine stays for us over recent years. We always felt welcome there, appreciated the friendly staff, and truly-enjoyed the room comforts the hotel provided. The hotel's location was a big plus, and made it easy to see and enjoy so much of downtown Vancouver's sights & sounds.

Yelp
There is a plaque on the wall that says this was rated one of the best hotels in the world 9 years ago. I guess you get to see what 9 years of abandonment and decay looks like. Now that Marriott runs it maybe they will do a few upgrades. There is nothing redeeming about the actual hotel. It was terrible, uncomfortable and completely a waste of money. The front desk staff and security was nice so if this review was for them, I'd give them 5 stars. DO NOT VALET YOUR CAR! The valet may or may not be there. You'll have to ride a shaky old elevator into the abyss to search for your car. When you come to the hotel after 9p the key won't open the gate so you have to get the security guard to come out and fiddle with it for ten minutes. The main elevators are so bad they shake and shutter violently as if they have nearly given up. Everything is dated and old. The entire hotel smells of musty carpets that should've been change long ago. The rooms look a bit like a horror movie set, with chipped veneer and smudge covered windows. The mini bar and snacks may or may not have been left over from the hotels glory years. The clear bag of cashews looked shriveled and dusty, even the glassware was chipped. I cannot stress enough, stay at a motel before you stay here. I am frustrated beyond words that this abomination of a hotel was listed on Marriott and I will make sure in future I don't blindly trust Marriott as a brand.

Yelp
I am very picky with hotels, and this was a really enjoyable stay in a great location. The last time we went to Vancouver we stayed at the Hyatt down the street, and this was MUCH better. The hotel is very clean and the decor is up to date and looks great. The bathroom of our room was my favorite part. Huge with lots of counter space, big mirrors, and a separate tub and shower. Definitely would stay here again. 4 stars for a few minor cons: the garage is very tight, although that is understandable for a downtown location. Would not recommend that you drive a big car here. The TV was laggy (we didn't end up using it). Also, I had asked for a quiet room and/or a high floor, and we got a room across from the elevators on the 4th floor. No major complaints about the room location though, it was overall pretty quiet even being near the elevators.

Andrea U.

Yelp
We chose the Marriott Metropolitan because we are loyal Marriott followers and we love the central location. We are nestled between the Fairmont and the Four Seasons with the art museum across the street and transportation steps from the door. Our suite is incredible, a dream! We have tons of room and everything and anything we could want. Fernanda at the front desk is above and beyond exceptional. Every hotel should have a Fernanda! We enjoyed our elite cocktail hour where we got to meet Michele and the wonderful staff here. The only problem is that I hate to leave!

Yelp
I spent last night at the Metropolitan Hotel. I liked the space ... it was large, laid out well and roomy. There was a mini fridge stocked with pop and alcohol (for a cost) but there was still room for my bottles of water. The bath towels were huge and the bed was comfy. The hotel is right downtown and walkable to everything. The staff were very friendly. I had two issues with the suite, though. One was the heat/air. The living room was nice and cool, the bedroom was warm and stuffy and the bathroom was cold. I adjusted the thermostat but that just blew more cool air into the living room and warm air into the bedroom. So I turned it off and let the air settle itself. The other issue was the wifi, which is complimentary. It wasn't consistent. Sometimes it would be speedy ... then slow down ... and then shut off for about ten minutes. This happened all last evening. I was trying to get some work done so ended up using my phone as a hotspot for wifi.

Yelp
I was in town for a business trip, and the hotel was in a perfect location for it, plus getting around town. The service was excellent and the room was great - clean, comfortable, clever storage areas, and complimentary water. Very few times did I have to get the door myself, even when in a hurry because the doormen were that on top of it. The concierge actually knew where we were from and made great recommendations for areas within the city to visit. I'd consider this a step up from the "normal" Marriotts at which I've stayed (I've been an SPG member for years and have held HHonors gold status as well).

Yelp
For the price I paid for this hotel I was very pleased! The lady who checked us in was really friendly, it went quickly. Had a room on the 17th floor with a city view. Hotel overall seemed very quiet during our weekend stay here in Nov. Nice bar downstairs (Diva) that had daily happy hours from 3-6pm. Concierge was friendly when looking for restaurants to dine at and booked our large taxi back to the airport. There was always someone holding the door open for us at the hotel entrance. Room itself had a lot of shelf space. Bathroom had a tub and shower, plenty of counter space. Room had a mini fridge/bar. Only downside, our room with the two beds didn't have as many outlets for our phones to charge. Liked the layout of the room and view. Location of this hotel was perfect. Right across the street from the Pacific Center (indoor underground mall) which had plenty of shops. Great place to walk around in when it's raining to stay warm. Reminded me of South Coast Plaza in Orange County. Near the Vancouver art museum, across from the Four Seasons hotel, and great restaurants and shops along Robson. Overall, great hotel for the price. Would highly recommend.

Ana M.

Yelp
Good location. The view of our room was delightful. A good looking hotel. But rooms are very little for 2 people and one bed. I think rooms with 2 beds are bigger! One of the coffee machines didn't work and one of the showers got the floor wet :S Parking is a nightmare! Not to many free/not reserved spots. Two ways in a very reduced space. But the worst thing when getting down or off the building. Two columns you must dodge even when another car come infront of you!!!!! Staff was very attentive and patient!

Brent A.

Yelp
For $300 plus a night you should get a lot more than location! Must be a lot of novice travelers staying in this hotel because the 4 star ratings are ridiculous. Check in was fine in spite of it being a tiny little desk off the lobby that you'd have to hunt for if you didn't know where you were going. The staff was fine at check in. The room was small and adequate. It was well appointed and the bed was very comfortable. The bathroom is nice however the shower head is very low and aims one way...out the shower door and onto the bathroom floor. Wifi SUCKS! Slow as hell and not even functional on my smartphone only from my laptop. Television was adequate but in a weird place and the remote wasn't the most responsive. The location is really the only bright spot here. No let me correct that; David the concierge is a rockstar man in the know with some nice connections and suggestions. The Hide Lounge and The Cactus Club Cafe. I definitely would not stay here again. The value does not exceed the cost!

Jacq M.

Yelp
If I could give 10 stars to this hotel I would!!!! My husband and I have been staying at the metropolitan for nearly 2 years now, it's our go to hotel when we want a quick Vancouver get away! It's tucked in the heart of downtown Vancouver along the four seasons and Georgia hotel! I love the location of this boutique hotel, it's clean, the staff are very friendly and they carry and possess above and beyond customer service! I would like to mention a few of my favorite staff that work here 1) IRA IBANIS- the best front desk person we've met! She quickly knew our names and just made my husband and I feel welcome all the time! She provides above and beyond customer service not only to us but to other customer as well! She's always smiling and she's such a positive person! 2) David from concierge- he goes out of his way to give you the best directions for your destination, he's very patient! 3) thiago- very pleasant, lots of recommendations as to where to eat and where to find the best nachos in Vancouver! All these people give the best service everyday to the Met's hotel guests! My husband and I consider this hotel like our home away from home! It's so cozy, very clean! I just love how clean they're able to maintain this hotel even after so many years! I highly recommend that you stay here because everything is walkable, like shopping places, Robson, dining places, Canada place! If you haven't stayed here, give it a try, you won't be disappointed and you'll end up making this hotel your home away from home! Just like me and my husband! Highly recommend you to try it! You won't regret it!

Yelp
PLEASE NOTE THIS REVIEW IS FROM OVER A YEAR AGO Got the room on Hot wire and wow is all i can say! Very friendly staff and the room was very very nice however the 2 single beds were too small so i asked to change rooms. They not only accommodated me but the bellman who brought the new keys assisted me to move up the the 17th floor . The room was slightly smaller but the bed was a queen and that was what i wanted! The bathroom was HUGE and it had a great lit up make up mirror, excellent toiletries, HUGE comfy towels, and speakers so you can hear the TV. The vanity was huge and lighting was excellent. The hotel is in a central downtown area close to sky train and across the street from the Art Gallery and Pacific Center shopping center and a block to Robson street for more shopping and dining! '' The staff is very very good, and i tipped well as they deserved it for the professional and prompt friendly service~ The wireless internet was FREE !! Yeah!! Best of all they late check out i asked for was not only granted but they gave me until 2 pm!!! Also they stored my bags at no charge when i went shopping after i checked out. The only weird thing was that when i went out and put a do not disturb sign on the door i arrived back to find that someone had put a roll away bed in the room ???

Yelp
This hotel calls themselves "cat-friendly." They are not, and our trip was very nearly ruined thanks to them. We had a cat who needed multiple daily meds, so we brought her on vacation with us. When we got here, we entered the room, put our stuff down, checked to make sure there were no holes in the walls (hotels can be funny...), and opened her cage. I learned about 3 minutes later that the rooms are "artisanal" and that the whole wooden closet/shelf construct wasn't flush against the wall in the back. There was just enough room for a very sick cat to climb all the way up the back of the shelves and into the ceiling. My wife was in tears for about 2 hours while I yelled at literally every employee I could find to get a ladder and to show us the layout of the ceiling on our floor. I was firmly convinced we'd never see the cat again. My wife spent more than an hour on that ladder, crying, calling the cat. We gave up, came down, cried, and then tried one more time. The cat decided to wander back at that moment. My wife grabbed her and we threw her in the bathroom overnight. We fled the hotel in the morning. Really incredibly stupid for this hotel to call themselves cat-friendly when the rooms allow the cat to escape. I'll never do business there again and have steered people away from them. It has been two years, but I'm still ridiculously angry at them for that single night. Eight other hotels on that trip without an issue...

Malia H.

Yelp
If anything can be said about this hotel, it's in a great location in the financial district across the Pacific Center and it's very central to everything. When you take the SkyTrain from YVR, you get off at the Vancouver City Centre. You go out of the station and go left to Georgia Street and then turn right down Howe. You walk down a little bit and you're there. Look for the navy awning and Metropolitan sign. The front desk and doormen were all very friendly and helpful. The doormen always greeted us and opened the door. They were so cheerful and welcoming. We were so exhausted after that red eye flight that we got to the hotel around 8:30am and figured we would try to ask for early check in. Luckily, our room was available so we got to check in very early so we could get some rest. This was a definite plus for us! The room was a good size for us to spread all our stuff out. There was a small table and chairs to eat at. The bed was large and comfy. The room didn't get too bright as well. The bathroom was also spacious with a standing shower and bath tub. The furniture and room were dated and not modern but very clean. They have one restaurant downstairs called Diva at the Met, a pool and gym which we didn't get to try. We didn't have a car, thank goodness since I believe it's $40 a day to park. When we checked out, they held our bags at no charge while we did some last minute things in the city. This was very handy and very nice of the staff. Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and wouldn't mind staying here again.

Jamie J.

Yelp
While I don't come to Vancouver as much I want, whenever I do, I always stay at Metropolitan. Whether you use the Booking or Hotels.com websites, the price is always extremely reasonable. And, for that reasonable price, you get a nice, clean room that is only a stone's throw away from most places in downtown Vancouver. You have Pacific Centre across the street, a Tim Hortons a block or 2 down on Dunsmuir, and the bustling Robson St. 2 blocks the other way (especially Japadog!). The parking structure leaves a little something to be desired though. It spirals down a few levels and it's a pretty tight drive down. If you have a big truck, which I did, it becomes an adventure in itself. Also, it's $40 a night! Ouch! But, with limited parking options around and the fact that you'll probably be leaving your car there, instead of paying for another outside lot when you normally go out, it's not as bad as you might think. They also have free wifi, but it can be spotty at times.

Sean R.

Yelp
We're very very Disappointed! I Thought metropolitan hotel really a 4 stars hotel, I should've read others reviews. The room smells like a thrift store with a hint of disgusting cigarettes smell. That being said not sure how yelp rated this hotel. There are many other better hotels around the area...sadly metropolitan hotel NOT one of them.

Eldridge M.

Yelp
Came here for an overnight trip of Vancouver. The hotel is nice. We were immediately greeted by friendly faces and a helpful front desk. The bell hop brought our bags to our room, a nice touch. The room itself was nice. Pool/hot tub was great (located on the 3rd floor). The Diva at Metro dining experience was amazing. Best Gin and Tonic I have ever had. The secret is they don't use tonic from the tap. It's these kind of details that makes this place fun. Location is perfect. Centrally located, it's been a easy to leave the car parked and walk around to explore. You're steps away from Pacific Centre and the Art Museum. Definitely will come back here.

Chet Y.

Yelp
This is not a 4 star hotel. It's more like a 2 star hotel and mind you.. a 3 star hotel would treat you better. Had I read the prior reviewS I would of not booked here. Please see the reviews on google, Priceline, and trip advisor to name a few. Over the weekend I paid for two rooms/ both king size bed and I got ripped off! I got one queen bed and a king size bed in the other, mind you.. the check in time is at 3. I checked in an hour after 3 and the room was not ready! The front desk lady told me that I would have to wait 30 mins, I did not mind that at all and somehow she changed what I paid to a queen bed and a king size bed. I made a complaint and the management seem to make excuses and uses the same excuses on every one. Please save your money and book next door at the ROsewood. This place is run by poor management

Gladis R.

Yelp
I did a road trip to Vancouver from California. Nice hotel with friendly service and pet friendly? Nope. Not pet friendly. I brought my cat with me and I had settled in for the night and my cat was exploring around. I see her by the coffee maker looking and then she jumps up and out of sight. I thought, maybe she went to the back of a cabinet hole but nope. There was a gap that lead to the ceiling there. She was no where in sight and took forever to get her out. We called for a staff member for help. I was almost in tears at the thought of loosing my cat. Who leaves random holes open for pets? Another thing. I went in to use the restroom earlier in the night and when I finished I tried opening the door to leave but I could not. It was stuck. I tried everything to open it and so did my boyfriend from outside. We had to call for some help to get me out. Turns out the door was too low for the door to lock properly. It got fixed luckily but it's just another thing to add to the list of bad stuff that happened. We got a refund and left the next day and stayed at a normal looking hotel with no fancy upgrades. So basically, if you have a pet be wary.

Yelp
My favourite things about the Metropolitan: - Great location, it was our first time in Vancouver and we walked everywhere from the hotel! - Large ultra-comfortable bed... mmmm - Amazing bathroom, with a big bathtub AND a separate spacious shower - The indoor pool, the gym and sauna on the 3rd floor, open from very early till late - Cordial and professional staff, they try to make you feel as comfortable as possible even when you think you're a bit lost or confused - Coffee machine in the room (the coffee itself was really bad, but that's beside the point) - Having the newspaper delivered to your door most mornings - Bottled water and fresh bowls of fruit in the room regularly refilled I liked the decoration, using good materials and warm golden tones everywhere, but keeping it elegant. We did have some minor issues with our room, mainly the TV image was a bit poor - not a big problem as we only turned it on once. Also, we decided to skip breakfast here and try instead the many cafés around this part of town; you can find some very good ones within two or three blocks. It works out a lot cheaper and it's much more interesting, since their standard continental breakfast service a bit dear starting at $20 pp. I had to do some work while staying here, and everything I needed was already in the room, including an ethernet cable and a plug extension. When you check out they promptly offer to keep your bags at no extra charge and when you go back to get them the staff will also help you to get a taxi if you wish so. I spent a really nice, relaxed week here and I'd definitely recommend it. Little tip: if you're bored and jet lagged at 4am in your room, you can call room service and order some popcorn :D

Yelp
My boyfriend and I stayed here for 3 nights. We booked our trip through Travelocity, and we were both quite happy. There was a little glitch at first--after we checked in (and 'broke in') our room, we realized it didn't have all the amenities we had paid for. So we had to go down to the front desk, where they sent us to another room. We took a look around before 'breaking in' this room, and realized this room didn't have a balcony. We really really were looking forward to the balcony. We went downstairs again, and they switched us, again. They handled the situation diplomatically, and in fact the whole time we were there, everyone, from the doormen to the concierge to the front desk attendants, were polite and helpful. They mailed my postcard, gave us maps and directions, answered any sort of naive questions we asked, and were generally the epitome of pleasantness. The room itself was perfect. The balcony overlooked the city--a beautiful view. The bed was huge, the headboard kingsized, we had a chaise lounge, a nice tv and a spacious bathroom. Located in the heart of downtown, it was the perfect home base for the weekend, and I only wish it wasn't located *quite* so close to the H & M, because I like to tell myself I wouldn't have spent so much money there on unnecessary things like 8 pairs of leggings.

Yelp
For $300/night it's a bit underwhelming. The room was spacious but standard. Staff are friendly and helpful but I had to ask for the amenities such as where's the gym or breakfast in the morning, basics that should've been covered upon arrival. The location is excellent for business travelers as it's in beautiful downtown, close the convention center, and a 15-minute walk to places like gas-town. Would stay here again, as it's safe, quiet and clean.

Yelp
Room was very nice and clean. Nice little balcony. No view from our room. Lots of sirens during the night, so if you are a light sleeper this may bother you. We purchased some ear plugs for our second night. Room service was good. Staff friendly. Parking garage is very tight!

Yelp
Great location centrally situated to everything you need downtown - restaurants, shops and entertainment. We got a great price when combined with our flights to Vancouver so thought it would be a great opportunity to take a break from family for the night and enjoy a night downtown. First of all, they let us check in early... very early. We would have just checked our overnight bags with the concierge but they just gave us our rooms instead (we were traveling with my brother and his wife as well). Our room was nice, albeit a little on the smaller side but the bathroom was huge and they had fancy Molton Brown toiletries. I love upscale mini toiletries! I had most been looking forward to a swim in the their indoor pool and a soak in the hot - perfect on a cold Winter day after walking downtown all day. The indoor pool is large enough to swim laps and their hot tub can easily accommodate a large group. Excellent service by every employee we encountered. If I were staying downtown again, I would choose the Metropolitan.

Yelp
Super! The staff was extremely courteous and friendly, and very happy to help with questions about the area. Excellent location - convenient to shopping, dinig and clubbing, and even the cruise terminal at Canada Place. Easy to get a cab when you need one. Compares very favorably to the Four Seasons, which is across the street, at a third of the cost.

Yelp
My husband and I stayed at Metropolitan Hotel for a weekend while we were staying in Vancouver for a wedding. One of the reasons we decided to stay at this particular hotel was my husband has a deal with the hotel through his firm. The location of the hotel is also in the middle of downtown so we were able to leave the hotel and walk around with plenty of shops and restaurants for us to go to! During one of the mornings, we decided to order breakfast through room service. One of the breakfast meals they have (I believe it was called the Canadian Breakfast) you indicate what kind of pastry you want (i.e. croissant, toast, etc.). We wanted both a croissant and toast so we handwrote to please add a piece of toast and to just charge us the cost of that to the room. In the morning, we got a call from room service to just clarify the extra piece of toast and they gave us FOUR pieces of toast with our breakfast...with no additional charge! One big gripe we had about the hotel was the garage. Most guests just have their car get valet into the garage so they don't have to deal with the very small and tight turns in the garage, but we wanted to drive our car ourselves since the garage at the hotel gives you in and out privileges (and we didn't want to pay for the valet every time :)). The turns in the garage are SUPER tight and there is no way you can have cars going both directions in the garage at the same time. One very small thing too - the elevators within the hotel do not feel...safe. One of the two elevators going to the different floors for the guest rooms like to open the door before the elevator is completely on the floor. It also makes a very unnerving sound when it gets on the floor too! Made me nervous every time... But despite these small things, our stay at the hotel was lovely!

Yelp
Great location. But that's where it ends. Rooms are dated, bed was old and worn. I have hundreds of nights in Marriott's around the world on four different continents. This was the worst experience I've had from a what is supposed to be modern and upscale property. Front desk not welcoming, night security was rude to me and my wife. I wonder if it's the fact that I'm American or African American that made people so rude. Totally dry and unwelcoming front desk. Thanks for making my wife's first time in Canada a not so good trip. Diva lounge had a good breakfast with nice staff. Stay somewhere else

Yelp
This hotel is fairly pricey, but we absolutely got our money's worth! The "Junior Suite" that I stayed in was large and very comfortable, and the hotel staff was very attentive and helpful. The only minor complaint that I could have is that there was no refrigerator in the hotel room (or rather, there was, but it was stuffed full of stuff they wanted us to buy). If you can get by without a refrigerator in your room, I highly recommend the Metropolitan Hotel to any visitors to this beautiful city!

Yelp
Absolute loved our stay at this hotel. Great room, fantastic location. Good sheets and even better towels. When my key card reset they would send security up with new keys. However it took a turn when my credit card was charged after I had already paid for the hotel. Twice. After the hassle of needing to look into this all I got was an sorry and charged 80 more dollars for parking. I mean, i would have thought they could throw that In for the inconvenience. Unfortunately that caused the rest of my trip to be very inconvenient. Yes they refunded but that's not returned for 3-7 business days. I realize they are in no control over how my credit card company handles refunds.... But not taking more money would have been a nice touch. Sadly, I am not sure if I would choose to stay at this hotel again even though my stay was really quite good.

Yelp
I was put in the Metropolitan as a part of a business trip where I spent a week working in Vancouver. The location was fantastic as it was in close proximity to all the major things I needed. But that's about the highlight of the hotel. The lady checking me in was surprisingly short with me. She seemed very unsympathetic to my situation (a typo on the confirmation information sparked the miscommunication) and curtly suggested that perhaps my company thought I should have been staying elsewhere. it was quite exasperating considering I was very explicitly told I would be staying at this hotel. And even when I tried to offer to put one night on my own credit card (I had to stay somewhere that night!) so that I could sort it all out with the company the next day, she reiterated that I was likely supposed to stay somewhere else. It was almost like she didn't want to give me a room, and I almost wish I took her advice... The elevators were like the Tower of Terror. Going up it would lurch and groan (supposedly to your floor because half the buttons never lit up so you just prayed that the elevator got your input). Going down it almost felt like it would drop you for a floor before it rumbled towards the lobby. The rooms were dated and cold. It took about 4 days for my room to finally heat up to the temperature that I set it for. And the wifi was...basically non existent. Needless to say coming here for work meant that I was basically never in the hotel-- you just simply can't get any work done without reliable internet. I guess the silver lining to all this is that the gym, although small has a nice set of equipment.

Yelp
We came into Vancouver and wanted to spend 2 nights around town prior to jumping on a cruise ship and off to Hawaii. Well this was a wonderful Choice let me tell you. A beautiful hotel close to everything a giant mall across the street for Shoppers and it's all enclosed for those who get caught in the rain. It does rain a little bit on most days in Vancouver. For us we were so lucky to have perfect weather every day and perfect service here at the Metropolitan Hotel. And when you look around at all the hotels and buildings in downtown Vancouver this is one funny shaped Hotel it's almost as if it were triangular the way it is dropped into the middle of everything. But the shape of the rooms and the hotel has nothing to do with the quality of service and the incredibly nice people who staff this place and take care of you. I could stay again in this hotel over and over. It's beautiful location and wonderful amenities including a concierge who is oh so helpful make this a wonderful stop. Top notch clean easy to get to and close to the cruise ships made it a wonderful choice for our trip.

Yelp
Location..location..location! Despite the fact that our hearts will always lie with the ultra-chic Loden Hotel that we stayed at last time, the Metropolitan definitely trumps the Loden with its prime location. Located literally across the street from Pacific Centre and just 1 block from all the awesome shops & restaurants on Robson, this place is smack dab in the heart of downtown Vancouver. I decided to spend the extra $$ for the room upgrade to their Luxury King room. This was a good decision since the room is larger with a much more updated feel than the standard rooms. Room amenities include big comfy king bed, separate couch area, LG LCD TV, iPhone-compatible clock radio, free WiFi, mini fridge and a big bathroom with separate shower and tub. Bathroom is fully stocked with Molton Brown products...nice touch. Hotel staff is friendly and efficient. If you have a car, valet is actually complimentary. Pool, hot tub and gym are open from 5:30 a.m. - 11 p.m. After a long day of outdoor fun, the super high-temp hot tub felt amazing for all our sore muscles. We really love Vancouver in general and we are frequently up here for family activities. To be in the heart of the primo part of downtown just makes our stays all the more enjoyable. Thanks Met!

Yelp
I missed it this year but I just love the Xmas tree competition for charity held in lobby annually. The rooms are also comfortable and I've always made the stay complete with dinner at Diva. Central location and just about perfect.

Yelp
We traveled to Vancouver last October for a conference. Our conference was at a well-known classic style Vancouver hotel but we looked for other downtown locations that would be a bit cheaper. This was my first time in the city (and in Canada)so the downtown location and the price were important factors. So we picked the Metropolitan and had a wonderful experience. From outside, it might not seem like anything fancy but inside it had a refreshing modern feel to it. My room had a king bed but the room itself wasn't huge. It was decorated in simple clean lines. Despite the smaller bedroom, it came with a huge bathroom with a large mirror and counter space, more than enough for two people to share. The room had a fridge full of snacks that could be purchased but the best thing was the complimentary TEA (along with coffee)!!!! I'm a tea-drinker so it was refreshing to see my morning treat waiting for me at the hotel. I guess Canadians like tea more than the US Americans do !! Hotel staff was very welcoming and helpful with suggestions about things to do around town. They even gave suggestions about money exchange, etc. Centrally located in downtown, we were able to walk from our hotel to all around downtown during the days before the conference started and made the best of our trip..

Yelp
Do not stay here! I was charged on my personal debit card even though I provided my work credit card for authorization. They did not ask to charge my card and are now giving me a hard time refunding my money. The initial manager was rude and dismissive and they have t done anything for me. I am still $555 charged to my personal debit! This hotel is horrible and the service is even worse. Do not stay here unless you want to get charged double and then not refunded!

Yelp
Molton Brown toiletries, Frette linens and two blocks from Robson and a block from Pacific Center...The staff here is super friendly. They come greet you at the curb, open the doors for you, take your luggage up the steps. And everyone else seems real friendly and knowledgeable. It's an older building. There are two elevators which sometimes can take awhile to get to your floor. The room itself was not really large, but adequate. There is internet service as well. My bathroom had a tub and a shower stall. I also had a balcony that looked out to the 4 seasons. I could also see some of the harbor as well as the other buildings in the area. The gym is small. Two treadmills, free weights, exercise balls and some other weight lifting machines. It connects to the pool which is indoors. Even though it is small, the gym was adequate for my needs. For the price and location, I'd stay here again.

Yelp
Metropolitan Hotel was a great choice for our precious few days in Vancouver. With such little time and so much to do, it is ESSENTIAL that you be near all your vacationing needs and wants. Our hotel was not only a pretty posh little establishment, but it was less than .1 mile from everything! Robson Street shopping: check. Japadog: check. Pacific Centre: check. Downtown fine dining: check. Venture even a little bit further out and you have Yaletown nightlife: check. Clubbing: check. Gastown shopping and bars: check. Harbor scenery: check. With all this within arms reach, forget having to rent a car! Everything is walking distance! And with the great staff and concierge at Metropolitan, you will have no issue trying to find somewhere to go or something to do. The pool was especially awesome as it was an indoor pool with a cool view of downtown and huge greenhouse windows and ceiling. Not to mention that it's open to guests until 11 or 12 at night. Super rare! In fact, the pool stayed open later then their bar did (odd, no?)! Staying here definitely made our already awesome trip just a little bit more awesome :) Can't wait to come back next year! *fingers crossed*

Yelp
1. Totally affordable/reasonably priced. 2. Great lobby/rooms. 3. They are DOG friendly! 4. I like the bathroom for some reason there 5. Hot tub and heated indoor pool. 6. Close to all the good eats 7. Close to the good shopping Will most definitely stay here again next time I'm in Vancouver BC. That city has got some YUMMY treats!

Yelp
The Metropolitan is a mid-tier hotel chain located primarily in Toronto and Vancouver. I stayed at the (downtown) Vancouver location and found it a very pleasant experience. +The room rate was reasonable. +Rooms were clean and well organized. +Hotel has a small gym and a pool on the 3rd floor. -There is WiFi but it is not free. -My room key card needed to be replaced and I was briefly locked out. As soon as we pulled up to the hotel, the staff was there to take our bags and assist us with directions on where to park (garage). This well mannered and friendly service really set the tone for my whole stay. I stayed here through the new year during my first visit to Vancouver and I enjoyed the courteous atmosphere at the met. At one point, some of my friends (that were also staying here) needed some assistance with finding a restaurant and I noticed the concierge did his best to help them. The rooms were clean, the bed was comfortable and the bathroom even had a separate shower and bath. The Metropolitan usually has a rate that includes parking and if they are able to accommodate you with this, I would definitely suggest considering this hotel during your next stay in Vancouver.

Yelp
Hmmm. Maybe this a 3-star hotel. Not thrilled though. Pros: Great location, nice rooms, clean lobby, nice pool/spa area Cons: spotty staff, construction next door, no free wi-fi, bait and switch packages, men's locker room was not open, pool shower is freezing cold. Ok, when you walk into your room and there's a letter from the manager apologizing for the construction noise next door, you know there's a problem. Aside from that and the minor issues above, my main beef is the service. When checking in, I had no CDN dollars with me, and was unable to tip the valet. Then a few hours later, when returning from a night out in a downpour, the same valet stood in the breezeway and didn't even move an inch to help us with the door, and instead just kept talking to his buddy, never skipping a beat. Screw you buddy, I get the door for strangers, let alone make an effort when its my actual job. Also, they promised a package with champagne, cookies, and a bunch of nice touches. Instead they just gave us a discount at the restaurant. Lame. Cutting corners is a huge problem here.

Yelp
Not a Vegas sized room but these people have Vegas size service. Wonderful experience. The view is typical 'city' because you are in the center but it is still cool. Being in the center of Vancouver, it makes it an easy 'homebase' for sightseeing. And yes, you don't have to pay out the nose for great service. The Met is affordable, they have great service, hot tub and pool, decent sized gym, close to everything and the Diva restaurant is amazing.
