Where to Stay in Christchurch When You Visit (Updated 2025)

"I found this utilitarian, budget‑friendly motel to be one of the cheapest options in the area; apartment‑style rooms are modern and well‑maintained with comfy beds, kitchenettes and flat‑screen TVs, and there’s a barbecue area, free parking, and an owner who’s super friendly and focused on hospitality." - Matthew Kepnes

The plumbing had some small issues in my room. On the site i registered on said there was free breakfast but there was no break fast. This Inn is dated but the remaining del and upgrades has made a very good stay. The room was clean but the tub was stopped up. The guy working at the front desk Nick is very nice and customer friendly. My 100 dollar deposit was returned with no issues. The parking was good and no one bothered my car. I’m good

Our reservation was under my husband’s name, and we have stayed here before. Five months ago, Grace was very excellent, professional, and actually cared about guests, That is the only reason we returned. This time the front desk guy was rude, and completely unprofessional. He was sitting on the chair using his phone. No greeting, no help, no explanations just attitude and indifference. It felt like guests were an inconvenience to him. I’m giving 2 stars only because housekeeping did their job. Front desk service was unacceptable and ruined the stay.I will never come back because of the rude and careless staff.

BED BUGS🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨 I stayed 2 nights from the 01/02 - 01/04. To begin the beginning of my stay was alright with the good customer service from the Hotel attendant. However upon entering the door jam lock was not secured and had screws falling out. This did not allow the door to lock properly. The walls were damaged and the bathroom fan was falling off only secured with one nail. The worst part of this whole experience was the bed bugs I woke up with the second night. I requested a refund and was denied so. They stated that they must bring pest control to determine if there was a bug infestation. When asked about pest control arrival I was greeted with “I don’t know I’m just a night shift worker”. DO NOT STAY HERE GO SOMEWHERE ELSE AND SPEND A LITTLE MORE!!!🚨🚨🚨🚨🚨

Not happy with this place at all! They charged a $100 deposit, which was a surprise . The first room they gave me was at the very end of an upstairs hallway, next to the stairwell. There were no working lights in that part of the hallway, and on either side of the door, were huge empty spaces that were pitch black. Scary for a solo woman traveling. I didn’t even go in. I asked for another room, which they switched with no hassle. This room had light switches that didn’t work, I found the bedside lamps and discovered that this room was hugely in need of updating. This was not one of the remodeled rooms on the website. Paint was peeling, holes in doors, missing lightbulbs. Bathroom was clean, but very shabby, holes and peeling paint. When I first entered the bathroom , there was Vaseline smeared on the doorknob, and more on the exit door and the tv remote… Gross! Towel rack had been ripped of and replaced without fixing the wall damage. I would not recommend this place at all.

Google
Unbelievably bad. We had wake the employee up so we could check in. The room was filthy. Toilet didn't flush I had to go and buy a plunger just to be able to use the bathroom on our stay there. We where also charged a pet fee of $25 per pet. And another deposit of $100 that had to be cash. $150 dollars. When we finally got to sleep we where awaken by the same employee telling us we owe $50 more because the pet fee was $25 per pet per day. So we only got 6 hours of sleep and we had to pay $200 we definitely didn't expect to have to pay. On the second day at the Metropolitan we asked a friend to pet sit for us until Sunday so we could save the $50 a day pet fee. When the employee came to work that night and we didn't have the pets he told us we had to leave because we used a towel to get the water off the floor and it got so filthy they complained there was no way another guest would be able use the towel again. If the refrigerator wasn't leaking all over the place and they would try to clean anything there that would never of happened to the towel. We thought we would save some money staying there but it costs us even more. We had to get another hotel room and we didn't get reimbursed for the 3 days we never used of the original 5 days we bought. The place had drug paraphernalia in the hallways and parking lot. I'm so grateful that I didn't have my children with us. I couldn't imagine having my kids around all that mess. Not only will I never stay at the Metropolitan again or will I ever recommended anyone stay there. I won't even go down the street the Metropolitan is on.

Google
DO NOT STAY HERE! YOU WILL BE CHARGED $25 FOR OWNING A DOG!!! Everything was lovely until check out when the woman who said she was the owner stole $25 from my deposit for having my dog SLEEP IN MY CAR! She never checked the cameras even though she threatened to (and I asked her to please check them), she never checked the room, she simply judged me for having a dog and for how I looked. When I asked about a sign about not being allowed to have a dog in the car, she told me there was no sign posted but that my dog is not allowed to be in my car on her property and then she threatened to call the cops on me and to put me on the inn’s blacklist. Shame on her. Shame on that inn. I stayed at this place EVERY time I visited Salt Lake City but I will never stay there again. I respected them and their rules but they blatantly disrespected me. In this day and age it is a shame that they choose hatred and to prey upon people who are trusting and supporting their business. I feel sorry for them and that they chose to become that kind of person. She kept saying “that’s what everyone says” in regard to me telling her my dog stayed in the car. Sad people doing sad people things. So disrespectful.

Google
Decent little motel/hotel. The rooms were clean with good beds and bathrooms. Good price. They only take a cash deposit so that made me a little uneasy but everything turned out fine. Id stay there again. Its a good location.

Kate B.

Google
The bed in this room was King sized with memory foam on the mattress and the most comfortable sheets I've found anywhere! The rest of the room was perfectly serviceable. Only complaint was getting our cash deposit back in the morning took like 20 minutes while the front desk agent inspected the room and we waited uselessly in the lobby.

Michael D.

Yelp
1. Broken bottles all over the ground around the office 2. Hypodermic needle parts rolling around elevator floor 3. Was charged $35 to check in early to a room that was already ready 4. 1st Room smelled of cigarettes and was next to an automatic car wash 5. 2nd Room smelled of cigarettes 6. The whole property is dirty, smelly, and dilapidated and the clientele are scary looking 7. I checked out within 3 hours and was not given a refund for the $72 room fee or the $35 early check in fee

Yelp
Me and my fiancé stayed here while visiting the area for the first time, and were presently welcomed ! Receptionist was very friendly and kind as well as super helpful. Clean rooms and nice shower. Overall good stay!!

Lilli B.

Yelp
Motel 6 has been better than this. I'm not that picky with hotels because it's usually just a place to stay and leave. There were no working or bright lights in the room, it hasn't been cleaned in who knows how many uses and when you have a closer look, there were ants everywhere. I did not even get to the bathroom or check the beds so I'm not sure if there were bedbugs or not. I asked for another room and they were not able to give me another one. I asked for a refund and they said no. This has been the worst hotel I have ever been to and it frustrates me that even when the hotel is at fault for a filthy room, they still won't accept a refund. I will not be returning. I wish I would have taken some pictures of the ridiculousness. I would be giving this negative stars if I could, it's not even worth the $50 I spend with discounts I had for it. Don't waste your money!

Elyza E.

Yelp
Honestly I was scared to stay here after reading all the reviews BUT we had an emergency with our hotel and this was the only spot available that wasn't too pricy. Checking in was fast the guys who help me was very nice gave us a nice room in the first floor. Looks like they're renovating it so no stained floors. Bed was comfortable and got my deposit back on my card the same day I checked out.

Yelp
I stayed here 4/6/24 - 4/8/24 and if there was a negative star rating id give it. It was the worst place I've ever stayed at in my life. The TV did not work. The vent in ceiling looked like it was NEVER cleaned, it had a few layers of dust on it. The door didn't seal and had a gap of at least 1/2 inch. The elevator (surprised they even had one) smelled like the Marlboro man himself lived inside (smelled so bad) The shower had mold on the walls and floor, we had to go buy shower slippers to take a shower. (or attempt too since water went out) The water literally went out in middle of my daughter taking a shower, they said it would be a few hours till they could get it fixed. They had no care in the world that we had no water. It smelled, was not clean and just overall disgusting, and misleading from even the pictures that aren't even that inviting. When I went to the front desk to ask for compensation for not having water for hours, I basically was told to F- off. They guy argued and argued with me. We had to leave and go finish getting ready at a friends hotel.. and because we left, he said we were able to get ready so it wasn't his problem. The manager in charge literally was the rudest most non compassionate person id ever met in my life and yelled at me. Anyone leaving a positive review here must be family cause there is no way a human would say anything nice about this place. I strongly advise against staying here! DONT STAY HERE !!!

Yelp
We came to Utah for graduation, and my sister decided to stay at the Metropolitan. It's really bad. There was mold in the bathroom and the room smelled. She was going to stay there two nights but decided to stay at the Little American just around the corner which was a thousand times better. It's really too bad because it seems that this place was really well taken care of 3 years ago.

Yelp
Please file a complaint with https://db.dcp.utah.gov/complaints.html against the Metropolitian Inn. I was there and it was really bad. i feel this place is not safe and someone will get hurt by their negligence. Here is the allegation dispute letter i filed with the ^^^ and credit card. As requested in the 2-12-2024 letter requests an explanation of how you cancelled with the merchant; the Metropolitan front desk attendant agreed to cancel the reservations after agreeing that there were no safe and suitable available rooms. Merchants cancellation and return policy is irrelevant; the merchant had no safe and suitable rooms available; merchant verbally agreed to cancel the reservation. Many pictures of unsafe conditions in this dispute can also be seen on yelp: https://www.yelp.com/biz/metropolitan-inn-salt-lake-city?osq=Metropolitan+Inn&rr=1 Metropolitan failed in it's legal duty to provide safe accommodations; it is in violation of Utah Admin. Misrepresentation; pictures on priceline.com do not represent their rooms, they appear to be a different hotel based on the texture of walls, color of paints, and furniture. 1. Safety Issue: Mold / mildew in bathroom and curtains See pictures and video. Bathroom shower had been painted and paint was peeling; mold was present (hard to see in pictures). Both white and toxic black mold were seen. Windowsill and curtains had black toxic mold growing on them. 2. Safety Issue: Carpet was wet and smelled moldy. 3. Safely issue: pest infestation A rodent was seen when entering the room. 4. Safety issue: shades / door is broken See pictures and video. There were no shades or blinds for the windows. It was not possible to prevent outsiders from seeing into the room where a patron would sleep. The locked door can be popped open, it does not sit right in the door frame. 5. Safety issue: drug and urine smell. Room had a very strong odors. 6. Safety issue: exposed electrical wiring See pictures and video. 7. Misrepresentation. Pictures of rooms on priceline.com are not of this hotel. Wall and ceiling textures and are different. Room layouts and size are different. Furniture is different. 8. Misrepresentation. There was no TV in the rooms. 10. Misrepresentation. Queen bed was offered, not a king bed as purchased.

Yelp
I ended up booking this place on Priceline and booking.com, both times they came out extremely cheap. I was excited to show up because the staff was really friendly and seemed pretty quiet for the most part. Out of a 3 night stay we had one good night. We advised we had a pet and when we arrived they gave us a no pet room and the front desk guy kept insisting we check out the same night (what?) so we had to wait to bring our frenchie the next day in which they didn't end up switching us rooms anyways(what was the point), the second night we stayed we had a man walk into our room because they double booked it and I was coming out of the shower, thankfully my husband was able to close the door before he fully made it into the room, my husband and I are non smokers (hence the reason for the non smoking room we picked ourselves) and when the incident happened the manager came up and said it was our fault because it showed that we never checked in. When the lady in the morning had done so and given me an extra key card to our room. The house keeper apparently didn't want to work so she knocked and told us we are not allowed to put the maid service sign so late and cannot leave our garbage outside the door (when it was sitting stinking up our room most of the day). Fast forward to check out and the same dude who blamed us for his mistakes and could not communicate with the other employees decided to check our room and stated there was a strong odor of maribuana in the room and we were not receiving our $100 deposit back, in fact was charging me $50 extra for smoking in the room. I had told him we can all go check the room together and he got hostile with me. We are in salt lake and there are people hitting the pook right next to them and they don't bat an eye. But let there be someone who pays $50 a night for a ran down hotel no one wants to be at they will keep your deposit and come up with any excuse to keep it because you got a deal somewhere else. If bringing kids make sure they have shoes at all times because there is countless amounts of needles on the ground and even though they say it's dog friendly, it's really not. It's dangerous and no where to take the pets to use the bathroom. Worst SLC experience I've had yet. I don't take the time so say negative things about anyone but how are you going to own a business this big and not be on the same page as a whole?
google avatar

Bull F.

Yelp
Unsafe, not friendly not recommended do yourself a favor pay a little more stay somewhere where you ain't got to worry about your room starting on fire and not being able to find out about it because they don't have any smoke detectors or getting stuck in the bathroom because the bathroom door sticks and you literally pull on it and damn they're smash yourself into the mirror because you can't get it open

Cc D.

Yelp
This place is a DISASTER. The only reason that have a few good reviews is because they pay for them. I had 3 bugs in my room and it is literally falling apart.
google avatar

Brian W.

Yelp
Ok so...this hotel is sandwiched in between the Sheraton and double tree...both very nice hotels. Salt Lake city is a super safe city, but I feel like I'm at the one place where u might get jacked in the entire city haha. Now I'm giving it three stars because the room was fine. But the elevator looked like the room they wanted to originly film saw in but the director thought it would be too scary for the viewers. And the people here seem like they live at the hotel as long as they can sell enough drugs to pay for each night. I did sleep well, comfortable bed...just, ya know, some people are very hotel picky and this isssssss...probably not for them.
google avatar

Ruth K.

Yelp
there were ants on the floor when we first entered, the pool was drained and our fan was placed right below the window so the curtains were being blown around all night. there was also a $100 security deposit that wasn't really mentioned anywhere and after reading other reviews, it sounds like we're not getting that money back. it was fairly cheap so I didn't mind the quality we got but I can't help but feel like I got scammed and therefore I leave 1 star review.

Jeannine C.

Yelp
We are a big group that stayed overnight in salt lake. We booked this hotel and let me tell you it was pretty bad. There were holes in the walls, cracks on floor and a lot of paint chipping it also had some type of writing on the door to the bathroom. The only good thing was the bed was somewhat comfy. Would not recommend if you're in salt lake. This place was pretty bad.
google avatar

Luis F.

Yelp
We came for Trip to Salt Lake City Utah on the way way here we found this Place honestly we got here so early and so tired all the other hotels were petty set in terms of the checking time until 3:00pm but this one was supper supper friendly and allowed us to check in at 8:00am so that's was nice for us we did pay a $35 fee for that but it was well worth it since we rest and also we booked for 4 nights we paid everything but at the end we decided to leave two days before our check out date since we wanted to also look at another city The staff there was really nice and were able to give us are money back and our deposit with no problem. This place it's very very reasonable and the actual rooms were clean as well no complains parking it's good as well and safe overall good
google avatar

Brooke W.

Yelp
The staff here are incredibly friendly and go out of their way and bend over backwards to help you. I highly recommend staying at this hotel, as they are friendly, courteous, and generous. Have a great day.!

Amada R.

Yelp
This is the worst hotel we have ever stay this hotel was dirty the bed covers had blood stains. It look like if the room haven't been clean. Their was an asian guy in the front desk his name is john jamaka very rude guy that refuse to replace the bed sheets when we ask him if we could have someone change them, he said that their was no one to change them and then said that wasnt his problem if we wanted to leave we could leave but he refuse to give us a refund. this hotel deserves no stars but i have to put atleast one star in order to post my review

Jesse C.

Yelp
DO NOT GIVE THIS HOTEL CASH! I was scammed by the front desk clerk and my deposit was given to another guest staying at hotel that I happen to recognize while checking in. No id was needed for this guy to retrieve my deposit.. Something shady going on at this hotel. DO NOT RECOMMEND! There are several hotels nearby that are way better and more professional.

Stephan R.

Yelp
Summary: crazily overpriced / drive 30min to Park City and stay there at a really nice place The good: Friendly check-in, good parking and clean room. The not so good: The building is in bad shape, the direct surrounding appears shady / weird characters strolling through the parking lot The crazy: All that would be fine for a $40/night place .... but it is ABSOLUTELY ridiculous for $270 + tax
google avatar

Olivia R.

Yelp
We spent one night at the Metropolitan Inn and we were quite surprised at the positive reviews, Although scarce, they must be old, because this place is a dump. The location is centrally located, but the hotel itself is sketchy. We felt unsafe even walking from our car to our room. While checking in, the hotel clerk was unfriendly and seemed oddly suspicious. The office, hallway and elevator looked like it has never been cleaned. The room was tolerable, but the smell of cigarette smoke was evident the moment we opened the door. The coffee maker was broken and there was plastic cup with the bottom cut out, which would indicate that they aren't replacing items after checkout. For the amount we payed, this place was a rip off. The location and the memory foam mattress was the only thing going for this place.
google avatar

Stephanie E.

Yelp
I wouldn't even give this place has 1/2 star. The most disgusting room I've ever been in!!!! The pictures on the Internet are totally false and the rooms look nothing like them. We thought where it was located, it might be decent. My bathroom was so gross, dirty counter tops & the shower ( yuck) I think I would get dirtier in it than prior to showering. I sat in the stinky room for about 20 minutes while looking for a new place to book I didn't even dare get on the bed . It's time for an update and time to stop false advertising What your rooms look like. Hopefully didn't catch anything in my short time there .
google avatar

Gregory M.

Yelp
Honestly the grossest hotel I've ever stayed in, ever. Granted it's the cheapest thing we could find on short notice. It came to 111$ for one night for a room with two queen beds. If you can afford a little more, please save yourself and do it. We wish we did. To sum it up, the stairway wag filled with spilled trash - mostly cigarette butts and other junk - that they just left. There were rats running around. The bathroom is extremely tiny and has no exhaust (not great when you're sharing a small hotel room with others). At least we had a good laugh about it. But really - spend just a few bucks more and go to the second worst hotel in the city instead.
google avatar

Risto K.

Yelp
Cheap hotel with Tempur-Pedic beds!!! Booked the hotel as a cheap crash room after exploring the area during the day! Beds are amazing and everything else is downhill from there. Yet as beds were better than some 5 star hotels I stayed at, I feel compelled to give them 3 stars. But don't expect anything great beyond the beds though!!! To the manager-owner: thanks for the beds. Please improve the bathrooms and you can have the best value in town!!

Ben S.

Yelp
So yeah, this is fine as a cheap place to stay, but nothing fancy. Nice beds, but everything else... needs a little love. We needed a place to crash on a road trip, and it worked just fine for that. I had to dock stars, though, because they have a sign blaming COVID restrictions for not having breakfast. C'mon man, it's 2023, that's a lie. We all know it's a lie. Don't lie about that...

Jenna C.

Yelp
me and my bf tried to get a room here and the front desk employee was very rude. his card wasn't working and instead of actually trying to help or explain why it wasn't working she instead took a personal call and just told him to hurry up. literally said "please just hurry up" like what lol. the lobby was filthy and smelt musty so i'm glad we chose to go elsewhere

Dee R.

Yelp
The website and travel sites linked to this facility falsely advertised this property for comfort and qualiTy. metropolitan inn downtown SLC is extremely rundown and felt very unsafe. Our room was extremely run down and dirty. Dust/dirt and stains on the wall, the window was broken and held together by packing tape. The bathroom shower had rust and mold, and paint peeling off the old tiles. I don't think it could even fit one adult in the stall. The hallway outside had trash and a shopping cart filled with trash. The stairway had broken bottles and more trash. There was homeless people sleeping on the property. We checked out and requested a refund after seeing the room and property. Staff was rude and inconsiderate.

Leah B.

Yelp
Broken in first room: HVAC, door lock, fridge Broken in second room: Door lock (new system for hotel. Few locks work) Missing in second room: Picture over bed. Hook and empty space. Lovely. And then the owner asked us to cancel the reservation and book directly so she wouldn't have to pay the 10% to hotels.com
google avatar

Susi H.

Yelp
No heat in room. Lights did not work--had to really explain to desk person what was going on. Shower was only lukewarm water. Sure there is a hair dryer in the bathroom, but you have to hold the button down for it to work...two peoples to work it. No breakfast...even though there is a sign in the lobby stating so, and website says the same. Very very disappointed.
google avatar

Jamie K.

Yelp
"Slum" This motel is acheap dive. Don't expect your deposit back not sure what they do with it but definitely does not go back into upkeep on the place Unfriendly owners place should be condemned
google avatar

Michele H.

Yelp
Beware the photos of this hotel do not show the actual run down condition of this place. Peeling paint in the shower & the ceiling. They advertise free parking there was no parking! Door locks seemed flimsy. We did not feel safe! We tried to get a refund but could not, since we booked on Hotels.com. I'm giving 1 star for the employee on the desk, who l believe tried his best. We moved to the Hampton Inn, newly renovated.

Arron S.

Yelp
My husband, my two friends and I are currently staying in this hotel, we all have service dogs that are genuinely trained, all for cardiac alerts and other things, and we have been constantly harassed by staff. I got a call from the front desk saying that there were six guests in our hotel room, in which there were not. It was us four, and my mother. They continously harass us about our service dogs and will not leave us alone. If you have an actual service dog, do not stay here. I will hopefully be reporting them for harassment and not training their staff correctly.

Kathy P.

Yelp
I want to give a shout out to the staff at The Metropolitan Inn in SLC. I shared the 2 queen bed room with two other women during our conference for the Wellness Company. The room was comfortable and had just enough space for all 3 of us. All the employees who I had contact with were friendly and assisted in a quick and joyful manor. It doesn't look like much from the outside, but the room was clean and the beds were new. If you're ever in Salt Lake City and need a place to stay, give them a call! (801)531-7100
google avatar

Heather S.

Yelp
Booked a 2 bed Queen room, also told them I needed ADA Accommodations I was told not a problem l, when I arrived I was given a room with one king bed for 4 people. I was then told that was there only ADA room, and they would not refund my money I had to stay in a regular room, I was unable to take a shower, and had a hard time just getting into the bathroom. Upon checking out they refused to give me my deposit because they said I never gave it to them. I had them review the camera footage, it was only then that they gave me back my deposit. Front desk people were very rude. I would not recommend at all.
google avatar

Cori W.

Yelp
Giving 1 star because 0 isn't an option. If I hadn't paid in advance I would have run. The security lock on the door is broken. There is no remote to turn the TV on. This is the scariest place I've stayed in ages. This place needs to be waaayyy cheaper or demolished. Pool is covered in the middle of summer. There's a creepy leather couch from a 1980s frat house in the room. Truly awful.
google avatar

Chandler H.

Yelp
I paid for a room, tried to cancel it and they wouldn't let me. When I finally gave in and tried to take the room (3 hours later, after talking to Expedia and the hotel) I was refused. The guy at the front desk hung up on me multiple times. When I was there in person he was even more rude and disrespectful. Same with the other guy who I assume was the manager. Never stay here unless you like having your money stolen. If I could give them no stars I would
google avatar

Ryanbradley N.

Yelp
This is not a 5 Star Luxury Hotel, but they do get 5 stars for the following: 1. A Clean, no frills hotel 2. Dog friendly (select bedrooms with a $20 fee) 3. Great location (heart of downtown) 4. Every room has PosterPedic Beds and we slept so good and we were rested after a 10 hour drive 5) Safe. The family that owns this, takes a lot of pride. 36 cameras and security so you can sleep good, knowing your belongings in the car were safe. Honestly, what more can you ask for under $100 a night with a dog?!? I would recommend calling directly and asking for a rate better than what you see online. When I did they happily obliged. * Next to a gas station for snacks and gassing up in the morning with free continental breakfast Thanks again!
google avatar

Chris S.

Yelp
We were booked here for a professional conference at another hotel nearby. That other hotel is very nice. This one is... not. One of our group was given a key to an occupied room. Another was given an "accessible" room in which the bed was munch higher than a wheelchair seat and which had narrow doors and no room to navigate the bathroom in a chair. One person in our party was originally told he could not check in without his roommate, who was arriving separately (although that was fixed without too much hassle). Their was peeling paint, at least one room had broken tile, and my room required the air conditioner to be cleaned because it was blowing air smelling like compost and stagnant water. If you need an inexpensive motel near the Courthouse MTA stop, there's a well d known value chain around the block from this place.

Shadow C.

Yelp
I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy We stayed here last night and we got here pretty late and they gave us our room key went to the room to a dirty room that looked like it hadn't even been walked in since the last people left so we went to the front desk and asked for new room. They gave us a new room the new room had no toilet paper or soaps in it but it looked clean as it was late when we got there. The next morning in the day light I was getting ready and my friend found a used needle poking out of the mattress and dry blood under a paper on the night stand. I went to the front desk and the lady was very nice she called her boss (Harshy Patel) and he was a royal dick. He asked why we didn't say something last night and that we probably where just trying to get a free room. offered us 25% I complained more and showed the lady at the desk the needle and the blood and she called him back the best he gave us was 50% which is complete bull shit! I think he needs to be fired as a Manger and a decent human being. that means they didn't change the sheets in our room and there was a possibility of one of us getting poked with a needle! This place is poorly owned and disgusting. I'm just glad I didn't have my two kids with me and one of them didn't accidentally find that needle!!

Yelp
My family and I are taking a trip through Utah and we booked this hotel last minute. We have just arrived to our room and are utterly disgusted... we were met with an iron burn on the floor, a broken drawer/night stand, greasy outlets, and worst of all unwashed bedding littered with yellow stains and illegal contraband... The latter two are the most troubling as they are regarding hygiene, more specifically unhygienic practices. The hotel promises that they are following CDC guidelines, and has even gone as far as removing the breakfast buffet and yet they do not clean their bedding. I am very upset with this hotel and will continue to adhere others to stay away

Yelp
Expected more when paying $189 per night. Could have stayed at a motel 6 and saved the cash if I had known how crummy this place was. Dust everywhere, no one has touched the baseboards or window frames in months or years. Pool is closed and looks like it's been closed for a long time. No breakfast included. Key cards worked maybe half the time leaving us standing in the rain. Toilet is broken, it requires multiple flushes to get anything down. TV and remote were both glitchy. Weird smell in both rooms we stayed in. Tiny space in general.

Yelp
First, the mattresses are very uncomfortable, far too hot. I tossed and turned all night and the other members of our party (about a dozen) all reported the same. There is only a standup shower, and the one in my room was chipped and possibly moldy. The room door was hard to get to latch properly and once I came back to find it had not been closed properly by the cleaning staff. The A/C is loud, as well. This is a poor quality motel without any amenities other than free WiFi and free juice in the lobby. One member of our party quipped that it was called the Metropolitan Inn because it could qualify as either a Motel 6 or Motel 8 franchise.

Yelp
This is not a dive and for two queen size beds for $51.00/night the price wasn't bad. The rooms and bathrooms were clean. The pillows and mattresses were hard and the toilet paper was soft, not the rough stuff most hotels have. The rooms are very dark with all the lights on. They were very friendly.

Yelp
DON'T DO IT!!!!!!! This place depressed the F?#K out of me! I can not understand the good reviews of this place?!?! Before we even checked into our room i was already apologising to my boyfriend for booking it. If i had not already prepaid it we would have been outta there! Do not know where to start. How about i just give the you all the worst. So as we enter the lift to reach the 2nd floor the stench makes me heave. Subways in Manhattan smell better than that. The place is severely dated, except for their proudly boasted "Tempurpedic" mattresses. Everything besides the towels & linens was just dirty. No attention to detail. The worst was the shower. My god! I actually wore my havaianas in the shower & around the room as the carpet had a sticky feel to it. The Area....... Metropolitan can not be to blame for that. Though i do need to warn. I felt more unsafe the 2 nights i stayed here than the 2 years i have lived in Manhattan. More than once leaving the hotel i was harassed. Unfortunately Downtown SLC has a big Homeless/Drug problem. I regret booking this hotel.

Yelp
This establishment is a front for crooked activity. I booked a room through booking.com and as I did so and realized that I didn't have the money for a cash deposit I canceled my reservation the very same day. This is establishment then had the audacity to report my cancellation as a no-show. Thereby causing me to lose my price that I paid through booking.com. they told me that since they didn't take any money from me they had no refund that was due to me. This was an out and out lie.

Yelp
Staff was excellent. Price was the best. Room was clean, excellent, and we give highest marks to the Internet connectivity. WiFi connectivity is a must for us and it was reliable and fast. The free rail runs down to historical Temple Square and the City Creek Center, fabulous for shopping. West of Temple Square is the famous Family History Library. Yes, the bed and TV were great. (Need to toss CNN and get FOXNews, but we enjoyed movies.) FYI, the back end of the Inn is in remodel.

Yelp
Wasn't terrible for the price we paid ($74 with a dog for a night and a breakfast). We usually stay in a motel 6 but the reviews for the ones in this area were just scary! So, with that said it is comparable to a motel 6. Doors open to the outside and you can hear through them. Bathroom was clean, room was clean if you didn't look in the corners/behind furniture (I had to because my dog found some left over goodies to snack on haha). Carpeted floors which kinda of skeeves me out but whatever. Tempurpedic mattress was a selling point for sure. We were on the first floor & our sink randomly filled with dirty water for ~10 minutes then it drained. We let the front desk know and they were very considerate and offered to send maintenance ASAP but we denied because it fixed itself. Breakfast was cereal, bagels, toast, waffles, pastries, tea, juice, & coffee. Front desk was kind, parking lot was well lit, centrally located, cameras outside of the doors for some sense of added security.

Yelp
Beds and bathroom were clean. Room had microwave, mini fridge. Low budget but great value for price.

Yelp
Well Yelp you were right on about the Metropolitan. Great location great beds and down hill from there. That being said I got exactly what I was looking for an inexpensive room to crash after a long night in downtown. Sometimes it is true that location is everything

Yelp
My kids went to this hotel and had some bug bites. They went to the front desk and had been given a refund. This is a second hotel on their road trip with issues. Sometimes it's worth paying more. Gave them 2 stars for their customer service.

Yelp
Under construction with no consideration to guest. Avoid at all cost. We booked online with no notification it was under construction. Upon arrival Thursday afternoon we noticed the situation and were ready to cancel and look for alternatives. We were assured that construction would not be happening on the weekend. On that assurance we decided to stay. We went to our event on Friday and returned to our room after 1 am. At 7am we were woken from our much needed sleep with loud construction banging directly outside our door. The front desk was unresponsive to our disturbance and were indignant the we didn't read the construction warning signs and denied what was said to us at check in. We left and found alternative accommodations. They charged our card for the whole stay from Thursday to Sunday morning. Crooks!!!!!!! And liars!!!!!!!
