"Sleeping on Whyte Whyte Avenue is in Old Strathcona, Edmonton’s du jour neighborhood that is lined with locally owned shops, trendy restaurants and bars, and, on Saturdays, the Old Strathcona Farmers’ Market. Metterra Hotel on Whyte brings hip style under one roof. This boutique hotel has a fire and water theme throughout, including spa-like jetted tubs and bedside fireplaces, along with stunning artwork with a strong earth motif. Just don’t get so comfortable that you forget to go out and explore Edmonton!"

Excellent experience! The valet service is wonderful, and the cookies we found in the car at check out was a nice touch! Breakfast was tasty and hot with a nice number of options. Everyone we encountered was friendly and helpful. This is a great hotel right in the middle of the action of Whyte Ave, but our room was very quiet. I highly recommend.

I absolutely loved this hotel — it’s right in the heart of the tourist street, surrounded by bars, restaurants, and gift shops. It’s a lively area, so it gets noisy, but they thoughtfully provide earplugs for a better sleep. The staff were kind and welcoming, which made the stay even better. Breakfast was free — simple but tasty — and the restaurant staff were especially friendly. The coffee machines at breakfast were excellent too! We stayed for one night, and if I visit Edmonton again, I’ll definitely stay here. Parking was around $30 per night with valet service, which we used and found very convenient. Oh they left cookies in our car to thank you 😍so kindly

Breakfast was good and had a nice variety. Definitely felt more fresh than most chain hotel breakfast bars. We had a lovely king room overlooking Whyte on a Saturday night. If you are noise sensitive you will definitely want the complimentary ear plugs but I didn’t have an issue. The place is quite clean though some things are starting to show age- wall dings, worn corners on couch. Staff was friendly. Used the parking contacted by the hotel 2 blocks west and didn’t have any issues.

Really nice hotel with a staff that tries hard to be kind and accommodating to guests. Great location if you want to be right in the heart of the bars and restaurants on Whyte. I had a mishap that wasn’t their fault, and it’s a long story, but to make it not that short, I had booked myself a much needed solo trip and got the nice spa room as a splurge, but they had the wrong dates for me because a manager at the sister hotel I had originally booked (The Matrix) switched hotels for me but made them for the wrong dates. So I ended up arriving after a long, delayed day of travel to learn that I might not have a room because they were booked up. They ended up finding a room for me, it was a smaller Queen room that was slightly depressing given what I had been planning for (small world problems) and having to switch was kind of a bummer but the second room was nice. The hotel felt more like a three star hotel than the four star as advertised but I give five stars because I think their customer service was good and the vibe was cool. Brian (I think his name was) was really helpful and tried in earnest to make things right and also ran outside to find me when I left my phone behind at checkout, which would’ve been tragic. I did end up staying at the Matrix for a night on the second leg of my trip (I had gone to Jasper in between) and the hotel itself was kind of nicer and better matched the four star designation, but the Mettera is definitely better for location.

I had a great stay at the Metterra Hotel in Edmonton. The rooms were spotless, the beds were very comfortable, and the breakfast exceeded expectations. The staff were friendly and welcoming throughout my visit. The location is impeccable, right on Whyte Avenue, with plenty of great restaurants and places to hang out with friends. It's clear that both the staff and management take pride in delivering excellent service. Highly recommended!

Google
We stayed here for 5 week nights in July and despite rumors of it being loud, it really wasn't. The room needs a bit of work but it was well above average. Very confortable bed. Very clean. The staff were amazing and if youre looking for a place around the " cultural " portion of Edmonton, this should be your choice. 5 stars overall!

Google
I chose this hotel as it was well located between the homes of my brother and sister on a recent visit to Edmonton. An average rating of 4.4 stars on google led me to believe it would be fine. It wasn’t.||Getting off the elevator to our floor, we look up to see a gaping hole in the ceiling. It remained Un-repaired for the four days we were there. ||Our “deluxe” king room was a very ordinary room, with scuffed furniture, dark carpeting of unknown cleanliness, and too long curtains that looked as though someone had walked across the bottom with dirty shoes.||The bathroom was dated, with a scuffed and chipped vanity. The towels were horrible. They were probably white at one time, however after years and years of use they were grey at best and thin and thread bare! ||Housekeeping was minimal. On our first day, upon returning in late afternoon the room had not been made up. We found housekeepers and got extra towels and that was it.||We were out a long time the next day and the room was attended to.||The neighborhood has changed greatly since I lived in Edmonton. Fine if one is going to be part of a bar and club scene, and won’t mind the daytime tawdriness of the area. Not great otherwise. ||The self-parking ($22/day) is in a lot two blocks away.||The worst part of the whole stay though was to find I had been directed to a third-party booking site from the hotel’s website. Comparing my emailed booking receipt to the printed receipt I received on check-out I was charged a whopping $318.96 extra to book on-line. ||The woman on the desk was unable to explain this, and a follow-up call from home did not get me much further, although the person I spoke did say I was not supposed to have received the printed receipt on checkout. No kidding, it showed charges of $579.21 vs my pre-payment of $898.17!||The printed receipt showed the Company name of Agoda Company Pte. LTD. They are a subsidiary of Booking Holdings, the head company of others like Booking.com, Kayak, Priceline, Agoda, and OpenTable. ||I suggest you avoid all these companies.

Google
We had a terrific 2 night stay at the Metterra on Whyte. Handy location. Lovely decor(and interesting) The staff were all very pleasant. Exceptional service at the complimentary breakfast and well prepared food(even had Gluten free bread for me). The people cleaning rooms were friendly and did a perfect job of freshening things up. And such a reasonable price! Yes I would definitely stay again thanks much

Yelp
My stay at the Metterra was short and sweet - a little less than 30 hours. This was my first stay at Metterra, but if I'm ever back in Edmonton, I'd happily book my stay here again. I arrived bright and early and luckily was able to check in right away. Whenever I stay in a hotel I request being on a higher floor, so that I get a nice city view. So I was happy to be put up on the 6th floor that overlooked Whyte Ave and the city of Edmonton. A couple things to know: + The location of this hotel is perfect - right at the heart of Whyte Ave. There are plenty of bars, coffee shops, restaurants, and shops within a 5 minute walking distance. + Complimentary wine happy hour. I wasn't able to make it to this unfortunately since I was at an event, but if if I was free, y'all know I wouldn't miss the opportunity to sip on some free wine. + Complimentary breakfast buffet w/ all your basic continental goodies. I also did not partake in this complimentary feature, because this lil lady needed to catch up on some zzz's, but from the photos it looked bomb.com. + Comfy beds. I always feel teeny tiny when I sleep in a king bed. I burrito'ed myself in between all the blankets and 5 pillows, and I'm pretty sure if someone came into my room while I was sleeping they wouldn't be able to see me. I'm not sure if it was because I was exhausted or if the beds were just extremely comfy, but I passed out right away and slept through the whole night. + Strong free wifi. I had a lot of work to get done during my trip, so having strong wifi was necessary. Metterra delivered. I'd happily stay here again, hopefully for longer next time!

Yelp
We stayed at this hotel on Saturday night. The staff was very friendly the room was clean and the breakfast had a fairly good variety of food. Even though I wish they had more vegetarian vegan healthy options. But the noise was unbelievable for me. I could not sleep till about two in the morning. Even though they supplied earplugs the music from the next-door bar was so loud. the bass kept me up all night. If you're not a light sleeper like me you might be OK I went to the hotel for a nice rest and I Definitely did not get that. Other than the noise the hotel is in a great location and it's a good option for Whyte Ave

Yelp
Hubby and I spent two nights on a Fire Water suite this weekend. Great service started at check in. Our car was valet parked. From the lobby, up to room 501. It was huge. Nice living room with a fireplace. Good sized bedroom. Big bathroom with a jetted tib and spa shower. One hiccup. The room was supplied for one person and we had two on our reservation. One bottle of water and one bath towel. Oops. We partook of the complimentary wine and cheese. Nice wine and a good selection of cheese. Breakfast was more than expected. In addition to the expected continental offerings, there were eggs bacon and sausage. Well done! The room was quiet and the provided earplugs were not necessary. Granted it was minus 28C so the Whyte Avenue revellers were not in sight. Great location for a staycation.

Yelp
Nice hotel but beware it is unbearably noisy until 3am. There seems to be nightclub in or beside the building, I was not able to sleep even with ear plugs..

Yelp
The Metterra has been a favorite of mine ever since I started doing weekly trips to Edmonton with my company. Pros: - Complimentary Executive Breakfast - Above & Beyond Customer Service - Complimentary Wine & Cheese Tasting every evening - Luxurious Rooms - Valet Parking - Great pricing Cons: - Parking is in an open Parkade (only a con in the winter when it's cold) - No rewards program **And it isn't even a con because even a rewards program does not provide you with the same complimentary perks the Metterra offers on a daily basis to any customer**

Yelp
Several years and trips back to Edmonton and the Meterra is still my #1 preferred hotel in the area. Here are just a few reasons why I keep coming back for more: 1) Neighborhood: Plenty of shops and restaurants within walking distance. 2) Wine Hour: 5:30-6:30 pm MST with complimentary wine and cheese for guests. 3) Free and steady Wifi, which is especially important for visitors not from Canada. 4) TLC and HGTV on the hotel TV. Get your fix and catch up while in hotel bed. 5) Complimentary bottled water as well as earplugs in each room. 6) Complimentary breakfast each morning from 7 am - 11(ish), including granola, eggs, bacon, juice and smoothies. 7) Front desk staff will arrange for a taxi to pick you up anytime, just let them know. Consistent service, quality of room each time I stay here. And it's exactly why I return to the same hotel each time I'm visiting Edmonton.

Yelp
The rumors about Canada are 100% true. Nicest people and the best customer service. Really made going home to the SF Bay Area that much tougher. Due to a flight delay that caused me to miss my connecting flight and have a day-long layover elsewhere I didn't get to my hotel until roughly 3am. Still, check-in was so accommodating and my room was great. I guess all in all it was pretty basic but the tub was pretty big, it was clean, and despite the earplugs they offer and my room facing Whyte, I didn't hear a thing. The room has a fridge and coffee maker and tons of counter space. The bed was so comfy, the thermostat was easy to use and the shower pressure was top notch. Even better, it wasn't one of those confusing showers that takes 5 minutes to figure out how to get the right water temp. The blow dryer was a dream come true, the products were nice, and I always appreciate a room that comes with a q-tip pack and a shower cap. If that weren't enough, they have a nightly happy hour with complimentary wine for hotel guests (I think you may need to stay 2 nights to partake? but not entirely sure). I wasn't around for the happy hour during my stay but I had no problem relaxing between the lobby fireplace, watching the snow through my floor to ceiling room windows, and utilizing the black-out curtains while curling up in bed watching old school Canadian game shows from the '70s. I'd return in a heart beat.

Yelp
In my next life, I'd like to be a hotel secret shopper. I love the thrill of opening the door to your hotel room and going through the mental checklist of likes & dislikes. At Mettera, there was lots to like. The hotel itself is very classy and modern, and the rooms are spacious, clean, and have all the amenities you'd want for a comfy business trip. The bed was dreamy, with tons of pillows to choose from. There's a work desk with a snazzy ergonomic chair. Loved the big bathroom with extra large towels and robes. These little luxurious make it easy not to miss home. They offer a complimentary breakfast buffet til 9am & wine hour each evening. I missed both of these perks, but it definitely adds value to the $200-ish/ night rate. The location is both a blessing and a curse. There's a reason they give you earbuds that read "say no to Whyte noise." By day, Whyte Ave is a charming strip of little boutiques and restaurants. By night, Whyte is Edmonton's party neighborhood, and Thursday is the rowdy warm-up for Friday nights on Whyte and the noise ordinance doesn't kick in until 3am (whaaaaat?!) So, if you're staying on a Monday - Weds, you won't notice a thing. But on weekend nights, those earbuds are crucial. I would definitely stay at Mettera again, despite the hip hop concert lullaby I had to endure on Night #2. Gosh, I feel old.

Yelp
I have stayed here twice now, and I just love this hotel! Other reviewers have nailed the description of this hotel, it really is a classy place. The rooms could use a little sprucing up though, they were a little run down for what I keep expecting from this place. Even just a bit of fresh paint in the rooms would make a huge difference. I love the complimentary wine and cheese evenings - what a nice touch.

Yelp
This weekend we decided to have a "Staycation" for my boyfriends birthday. So we booked a room at the Metterra. Neither of us have stayed here before! I surprised my boyfriend with this room and dinner night! It was really fun and relaxing since he was only in Edmonton for 4 days in between work. The front desk staff were very attentive and nice to us. We forgot our key in the room once and that was a quick fix. We also had problems working our TV for a bit, and they came and fixed that up right away. They were in the middle of some renos due to a flooding, so they were making sure that people's experience there was as best as can be. The fifth floor where we stayed was in the middle of renos, but the room itself was beautiful. When we walked in the room it was the "earth" type. Bright and beautiful. There was a comfy king bed with four pillows. The bathroom had this beautiful shower! It had jets that came out of the wall and everything. You can definitely hear the clubs thumping from the room, but they provide you with earplugs so they think of that. It took me quite a while to fall asleep though. In the morning they have a free breakfast for the hotel guests. It was really good! The staff working up in the breakfast area are so nice! They do a good job at running a nice morning for people. It was really nice. I had a really nice and relaxing night here. The price isn't too bad either. I would definitely do a staycation here again. :)

Yelp
A gorgeous hotel with a well appointed lobby, and a great second floor space in which they ran the event that I attended. The outside light coming in the window was great as we watched folks walking a little fashion show. The staff here were really accommodating of the great Yelp Shops Local event and I really liked the space. I've yet to have a need to actually stay here, but it is certainly a beautiful hotel in the Whyte Avenue area!

Yelp
This is my favorite hotel in Edmonton. Sister company to Matrix which is located downtown and Varscona a little further down whyte. One of the only boutique hotels in Edmonton. The complimentary wine and cheese every evening is amazing. The hotel is a little older but it's clean and close to whyte ave which is the busiest part of Edmonton. The staff is always friendly and courteous. It can be a little loud on the weekend so ask for a room facing the back and not whyte ave. I would highly recommend staying here if you are in town for a short trip, as you can really explore the best part of the city without needed a vehicle or taxi!

Yelp
The Mettera is Strathcona's upscale boutique hotel. Well, at least one of them. It actually has a sister property a few blocks down the street. Nestled right on Whyte, amidst the chaos of bars, clubs, pubs, boutiques, restaurants and coffee shops, there's about a zillion and one things to do right outside the front door. For entertainment purposes, you couldn't ask for a better location. The style of Mettera has that sort of standard mod/sleek look to it... it could really be one of the many boutique hotel lobbies I have set foot in during my travels. There are a few unique decorations, but for the most part it looks like they got their accoutrement from "The Boutique Hotel Superstore" (if that existed). That said, I shouldn't knock it - I prefer this style any day to the cookie-cutter corporate feel of a Holiday Inn or similar. Yuck. The lobby of this hotel is pretty small, with a few seating areas, a front desk, and stairs to the mezzanine level, which boasts a hospitality room offering daily continental breakfast and daily wine happy hours. I missed all of the HHours and breakfasts, so I can't report on those. Also on floor-two is a 24-hour workout room with one elliptical, one treadmill and some sparse weights. Good enough for utility's sake. The room itself was very comfortable and my 6th floor appointment offered me a nice view of the (insanely flat) surrounding area, with a partial view of Whyte Ave. The king bed was super comfy, the sheets nice, the pillows plush, and the alarm clock was... gasp... set to the correct time! This is actually kind of huge to me. I hate having to figure out how to set a new alarm clock, and it's surprising how often hotels give you rooms with blinking digital readouts. Yes! Everything else, from the towels to the TV to the desk was definitely adequate for the cost of admission. Well, my cost of admission, anyway (off-night low-rate). Friendly staff, quiet rooms, and really nice shower heads only sweeten the deal. I like this hotel and would definitely stay here again.

Yelp
Just another reason to be stoked. If you're like me and you like the "Water King" suite they have, you'll likely be in one of the corner rooms. This past trip, I was almost bummed when I saw that my room was on a lower floor. But when I opened my patio door and saw a huge terrace in front of me, I was giddy. Thanks for one-upping a lower floor room, Metterra. You're still my favourite place in Edmonton to lay my head down.

Yelp
For all the hype, Metterra wasn't that great of a place to stay. Two stars go for the location and cleanliness of the place- it was definitely well kept and within walking distance to lots of what Edmonton has to offer. Also, during our stay there was a hot beverage machine in the common area that was free 24/7 and served up decent lattes and hot cocoa. That said, the price was a lot for the tiny room we had. The mini fridge had some very expensive chocolate bars and the continental breakfast was short-staffed or something, so the servers were running around and nothing was stocked fully when we went to eat. They offer a free wine and cheese thing at 5:30, which was nice except that the cheese was pretty much chopped up marble block cheese from Safeway and the space for mingling and drinking was small, so a table was tough to find. The maintenance people knocked three times, loudly, at 8AM on a Saturday morning to clean the place. It woke us up, we had to go to the door and tell them to come later before they'd stop knocking. The reception attendants were helpful, but clearly busy or short staffed. They were both on the phone when we arrived and didn't acknowledge us with our bags standing there until a few minutes later. The amenities supplied were below what you'd get at a Holiday Inn in a way, because there was no sauna or hot tub or pool or anything to 'do' there. Also, the instructions we got for parking when we arrived put us in a lot where the attendants were confused about whether or not Metterra patrons could stay there. Eventually they let us out without charging us, but that was a bummer. Could've been a random bunch of unsatisfactory events, but I don't think I'd say at Metterra again.

Yelp
It's a cute boutique hotel situated in the trendy district of Stratcona so it's close to restaurants and trendy boutiques. The exterior is unassuming so I almost drove past the hotel. The entrance is decent looking but the rooms are awesome. It's very spacious, modern and clean. Unfortunately parking is a hassle becacuse when you need your car it takes the valet a bit longer to retrieve the car depending if other patrons need it too because the parking lot is a bit further away. If I ever visit Edmonton, I'll definitely stay at this hotel again.

Yelp
Cute hotel, clean and very well located. Stayed here our first visit to Edmonton. Was nice to be in the middle of civilization (coming from our short stint in Fort McMurray ANYTHING is civilized!! ha ha) Great options walking distance to all: organic groceries, vegan food, farmers market, vegan dessert and bars. Def recommend this hotel- had a great huge room for only $160/night. Oh- got a fireplace room on the back of the hotel and asked for 'quiet'- was on floor 7 of 8 and the room fans on the adjacent building were so loud we couldn't open our sliding door on the beautiful summer days that we had. Such a shame. The rooms on the front of the hotel would be even louder. So if you're looking for a 'quiet' place where you can open the windows and get fresh air, this probably isn't your place. Oh and the water pressure is non-existent... so forget washing long hair :) Otherwise, the service is pretty good (as to be expected) and the room is great. Bed is AWESOME. Location AWESOME.

Yelp
Nice small hotel on Whyte, with a great location in the middle of tons of great restaurants and shops to walk around. The room was clean and comfortable, although the drain in the shower wasn't draining very well and I had to ask them to take a look at it. They have room deals that include complimentary breakfast, and also complimentary wine and cheese in the late afternoons. Breakfast was nothing special, a pretty standard hotel style buffet (pastries, toast, fresh fruit, scrambled eggs, bacon, sausages mainly) but it was free and edible. On the down side, they seem very technologically behind the times. When I checked in they told me their systems had been down for "a couple days" and they were checking everyone in by hand; in this online day and age, there shouldn't be an excuse for anybody's systems to be offline for that long unless there is some SERIOUSLY BAD problem going on. When I asked, the check in clerk seemed to think it was something to do with hardware problems. Later, a fire alarm went off in the alley behind the hotel (a false alarm) which apparently triggered one of the two elevators to return to the ground floor and remain there. The staff said it had to be reset manually after an alarm ... but a day later it was still sitting there and marked out of service, leaving just one elevator for the hotel. Again, if this was an automatic safety system in place, it definitely should not take the hotel a day or more to reset it; and if it was some other reason, well, having 50% of your elevators out of service for that long also does not speak to very up to date technology. Fortunately it's a fairly small place and didn't seem to cause much delay while I was there (mid week) but still. Hopefully they'll take some time and effort to bring their infrastructure up to modern standard. Apart from these issues, the hotel itself was pleasant, the location was great, the staff were friendly, and had no issues. Seemed like a good place to stay in Edmonton.

Yelp
The rooms here are so clean and well decorated, and there are drinks already in the room for you. The breakfast is AMAZING. Parking is not too bad as well! My only complain is no vending machine, but it is on a central street with a lot of little shops. This is definitely my go to hotel in Edmonton.

Mark J.

Yelp
We just spent 4 nights at The Metterra and loved it! It's in the centre of the action on Whyte Ave. with all its restaurants and funky shops. The nightly complimentary wine and cheese is a pleasant way to end the day or start the night. The rooms are comfortable and spotless, the staff is friendly and welcoming, and the valet parking is quick and efficient. Highly recommended!

Donna L.

Yelp
We used the valet service to park our car at this hotel. A month and a half after staying here, we received a bill for $75 from the parking garage used by the valet service. To avoid being in arrears, we immediately paid the bill and then contacted the hotel to get reimbursed. After going back and forth with guest services and the front office manager here, they would not refund us the $75. They eventually offered to give us $75 off of a future stay. We have no plans to be in Edmonton in the foreseeable future and now are out $75 because of their poor customer service and inept valet parking. Will never stay at this hotel again. Update to review above - After posting my review, I received an e-mail from the Operations Manager of this hotel and he totally understood that the hotel should reimburse me $75. Although I was thrilled that this matter is resolved, I believe this process should not have been so difficult.

Yelp
Great boutique hotel in an ideal location for walking to local restaurants and shops. The rooms are really nice and modern. By hotel standards, the fitness room is quite good. They offfer a free continental breakfast in the morning and a cocktail mixer in the early evening. In addition, the hotel tends to be quiet in fairly bustling area of restaurants and bars.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I booked a Fire and Water Suit two months(ish) before our 2 year anniversary. When the day actually came to stay there, we were both very excited and we were very impressed with how the main lobby looked and how kind and welcoming the lady at the front desk was. When we got up to our room, we were actually very impressed with how nice and clean it was, but we quickly realized that they put us in a room that wasn't the suit we booked online. Don't get me wrong, it was a beautiful room but it definitely wasn't worth the amount of money we paid to book the room in the first place. We both got pretty upset and my boyfriend went back down to the front desk to see what the issue was. A few minutes later, he texts me saying that there were no more suits left for us to take and they moved the room we were in because there was an issue with the fireplace. They were also still charging us the same price for this room had we been staying the actual suit we wanted. He asked why they didn't inform us of the room change and the manager said he didn't know. Since they were completely booked the weekend we stayed there, we had to stay in the regular room. The manager offered to throw in a bottle of wine in on the house, but we don't drink wine so we declined. We figured there wasn't much we could do, so we got the room at a discounted price plus credit if we ever decided to come back. Just to add to more hiccups through the night, our bath tub kept draining every time we would try to fill it up which was funny but annoying. For the price we would have paid for the Fire and Water suit we originally wanted, I definitely think it's worth a better breakfast too. Food was good, but it would be better had there been more variety and more selection. It wasn't a horrible experience, it was just disappointing because we were looking forward to it for so long. Hopefully next time will be better if we ever decide to go back.

Yelp
++ Clean rooms ++ Good service -- Parking is very difficult. No place to pull over and drop off bags. ++ Valet included. To help with parking. ++ Good location for food and night life.

Yelp
This hotel is located right on Whyte Ave and is pretty urban/classy. The good thing about this hotel is that it is really quiet, considering that it's right in the middle of the Whyte Ave club scene this is pretty impressive. A lot of people like to get hotel rooms for their birthdays and throw parties and this hotel is perfect for that. You can pre-party here and then walk to the clubs and then head back for an after party. I think when they built this place they took into consideration that people might be doing this because I haven't heard of anyone getting complaints here when they are being really loud.

Yelp
I've always had great experiences staying at the Mettera on Whyte. The rooms are clean and nicely decorated. There is complimentary wifi. The continental breakfast is nice and you can't beat the location here in Old Strathcona. It's a great place to stay especially if you are attending a concert at the Jubilee Auditorium. Valet Parking is questionable, although I have learned that it stops at 11 pm. If you are going out on the town you'll have to park it yourself. If you do have to park your car it is placed behind a nightclub off Whyte which to me isn't all that safe. I would suggest that if you want more secure parking than perhaps trying the sister hotel a couple of blocks down, The Varscona.

This place is awesome!!!! The room was amazing equipped with a mini bar fridge. Breakfast in the morning was great and they serve cheese and wine every night which was awesome. The location is right place on Whyte... your steps away from everything in walking distance. The staff was friendly and answered all our questions.

Yelp
I came to the Metterra during Yelp Shops Local for a fashion show they were hosting. I have never been inside the Metterra, even though I've walked by it numerous times. The lobby is quite spacious and the staff are delightful and friendly. Upstairs, where the fashion show was located, was a sectioned off area for our chocolate and wine pairing. The staff at the bar were excellent. So many nice people around! I'd like to check this place out a little more.

Yelp
My husband and I received a gift of a night at the Metterra for our wedding night. We had a very nice suite with a sitting room, kitchenette and bathroom with a jacuzzi tub. We enjoyed this hotel for the most part. The king size bed was super comfy. I used the jacuzzi tub but the jets didn't really work that well. We ordered room service which came from Chainti's restuarant a block away and they also have room service from an Indian restaurant. The continental breakfast was good but they almost need two waffle makers because there was a lineup to use so I just didn't bother making myself one. The guy at the front desk as well as the guy who delivered our room service were pleasant and friendly. I would return to this hotel again.

Yelp
I loved this hotel. It has a great location, as it it close to downtown and an abundance of restaurants and shops. When you check in, they even give you a local VIP card so you can get discounts at the local restaurants. I stayed in a rear facing room and had a beautiful outdoor patio. I loved the fact that there was cool scenery on the TV when I got to my room and I especially enjoyed their complimentary breakfast and complimentary wine with appetizer's.

Yelp
We stayed here during our wedding weekend. We stayed in the air, fire and water suite. This room is huge which was perfect for the bridal party to get ready in. Very classy place. Room is also beautiful enough for wedding photos during the group getting ready. They also have valet service which is nice considering how limited parking is on Whyte Ave. Note though that the valet takes about 30mins to get your car and they didn't tell us that ahead of time and it doesn't matter if it is a slow time or not. So be aware and phone down to the front desk ahead of time. Also they had a free breakfast available. The area to eat in is nice but the food was not up to the standard of the rest of the place.

Yelp
Came here for a work meeting, just for the morning. Valet at the front and the meeting room was very nice. Looked like a nice hotel inside, will probably stay here when up in Edmonton next time :)

Yelp
The service from the front desk staff was amazing! So polite and willing to do anything for you to make your stay great! I love the valet parking, and I even had one of the guys offer to run down to my car after he had just parked it as I forgot my jacket in it. Great staff! I also appreciated that whenever they talked about what room you were in, they kept it very quiet so no creep would know where you were as there are a lot of bach/stag parties going on right now :) I loved our room! Beautiful patio and very clean! Definatley recommend this place!

Yelp
Our large dog approved of this place. Very pet friendly. And she only had to cough up $20 for the privilege, which we generously loaned her. Parking slightly inconvenient but this was the only downside to this lovely hotel. Very helpful staff.

Yelp
Came to Edmonton with wife and a friend to watch the Washington Caps open up a can of whoop a$$ on the Edmonton Oilers (GO CAPS!). This lovely boutique hotel is located in the Old Strathcona neighborhood, surrounded by dozens of bars, restaurants, clubs and shops. I'm WAY too old to go clubbing and I felt quite old by watching the young girls in skimpy outfits freezing in long lines to get into bars. But I digress, back to the hotel. It was about a 20 minute taxi ride to Rexall Center but that was fine by us. For groups, this hotel suite was perfect because it had a pull-out sofa bed in the living area, and a glass door that separated the bedroom from the living room. Awesome shower, which is always a big plus, and there was a nice little balcony too (but too cold to enjoy). The complimentary breakfast was quite good too. There is no on-site parking, but the hotel has complimentary valet parking.
