"Sleeping on Whyte Whyte Avenue is in Old Strathcona, Edmonton’s du jour neighborhood that is lined with locally owned shops, trendy restaurants and bars, and, on Saturdays, the Old Strathcona Farmers’ Market. Metterra Hotel on Whyte brings hip style under one roof. This boutique hotel has a fire and water theme throughout, including spa-like jetted tubs and bedside fireplaces, along with stunning artwork with a strong earth motif. Just don’t get so comfortable that you forget to go out and explore Edmonton!"

I have had to stay here for 2 weeks while my son was in UofA hospital and from the valet, front desk to room service & daily breakfast staff (and the breakfast) has been awesome. Now my son is with me for another 9 days' stay, but he has a nurse come everyday and requires a wheelchair, the hotel was so accommodating by allowing us to change rooms into an accessible suite (which has been a relief) Top notch staff & management, beautiful boutique hotel, super convenient to the hospital, shopping and very cool restaurants! Thanks Metterra for making this already very stressful situation a much better experience for me and now for my son. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I have stayed four times at the Metterra. Briefly, here is my assessment:||- excellent value for money||- excellent hot breakfast. I especially like the crispy bacon. No flacid bacon for me||- excellent location on Whyte Avenue. Lots of places within an easy walk||- unusual shaped rooms. This is not a criticism -- I like them||- rooms are spacious and comfortable||- three of the four times I have been at the hotel, I was given a room with an electric fireplace. The fireplace is a nice bonus (especially pon a cold winter day)||- the showers have excellent water pressure||- self park is 1.5 blocks away (5 minute walk). Not a problem for me, but on a cold day it could be inconvenient (or use valet parking)||- a small criticism -- Only a few spots in front of the hotel to park you car while you check into the hotel. This is a common problem with most hotels that are on a busy street||- I have always found the staff (front desk, breakfast, cleaning) to be helpful, courteous, and professional||I have stayed at several Edmonton hotels, but have now made the Mettera my first choice||

Our arrival experience was uncomfortable. The front desk agent was efficient, they could have been friendlier. In contrast, the rest of the staff (including breakfast, housekeeping and front desk were fantastic and very helpful). Our room had a humidity issue due to a non-functioning bathroom vent, which made it uncomfortable at times. Additionally, our room keys deactivated early even with late checkout but staff were accommodating in resolving the issue. The hotel location was perfect. Everything we needed was nearby. The neighborhood can be loud, but there were ear plugs in the room. The hotel room was large and comfortably appointed. It was perfect if you have to do some remote work during your stay. I appreciated the medical rate for our stay, and the coffee was the best that I have had at a hotel in a very long time! The breakfast buffet was wonderful! Overall, I would recommend this hotel and would definitely stay here again for future visits!

Stayed for the weekend to attend an event at the Jubilee. Everything you could want is within a few minutes walk. Rooms all around are great, lost one star due to the lack of blacking out of light the shade curtains accomplished. Found it hard to sleep with all the light pollution. Otherwise excellent stay. Valet was quick at bringing the car back around when you needed it. Breakfast was excellent and very well optioned.

Wanting to be near Whyte Ave, decided to stay here instead of my usual spots in Edmonton. Metterra was great. Valet parking was handy. Room was clean and quiet. Shower had real pressure to it. Desk and chair wasn't good for working. Breakfast was above average. Tons of restaurants and such in walking distance.

The bed was comfy, breakfast was great, hotel was clean and in a great location to check out Whyte Ave. However, it was so hot in our room, we couldn't sleep. We had turned the temperature way down before we went for supper. When we returned to our room, it was even hotter. Turns out, when you turn temp down the furnace kicks in?? They suggested we open the window, but it was -35 outside and Whyte Ave party goes on all night.

I can't say enough about this hotel! The Metterra is in the BEST part of the city. You could throw a rock out of your hotel window and it would inevitably end up hitting a restaurant! The area is walkable, lively and fun. The hotel is like a quiet retreat from it all. The bed was very comfortable and large and there was no noise at all from the surrounding areas. The complimentary breakfast offering is so much better than I'm used to getting at a hotel and the dining area is lovely. I am truly impressed by the value the Metterra offers and it feels good to support a local business. Highly recommend.

We had a great experience staying at this clean hotel, staff were very welcoming and friendly they made sure we were well catered for at all times. The valet service was awesome and was a bonus to our trip. The hotel is surrounded by restaurants and shopping facilities. I do recommend this hotel to anyone who wants a good time and their safety while travelling.
