Dip into Australia’s bathing culture at Victoria’s top five hot springs - SilverKris

"A smaller, laidback retreat ideal for nature lovers about four hours from Melbourne, offering immersive natural settings such as barrel baths overlooking Gippsland Lakes and a secluded pool tucked beneath banksias and bottlebrush trees. Guests can use a glass-walled sauna perched among gum trees and refresh with an 18°C plunge; overnight options include safari-style tents with king beds, ensuites and private bathing barrels on the deck, making it well suited for a restorative weekend away." - Victoria Khroundina

An absolutely incredible experience with three friends! The serene forest setting of Metung Hot Springs is the perfect escape to unwind and disconnect. We all left feeling completely rejuvenated. The dry saunas were fantastic for a deep, detoxifying sweat, and the cold plunge was a bracing shock that definitely brought us back to our senses! It's the perfect combination for a total body and mind reset. This place is a must-visit for anyone looking to relax and recharge in a beautiful, natural environment.

Visiting Metung Hot Springs was such a relaxing and rejuvenating experience. Surrounded by beautiful natural scenery, the pools are set in a peaceful environment that makes you feel instantly calm. Each pool had its own charm, with varying temperatures that allowed us to unwind at our own pace. The facilities are well-maintained, and the staff were friendly and welcoming. Whether soaking in the mineral-rich waters, enjoying the views, or just taking time to slow down, the whole experience felt like a wellness retreat. It’s only a short drive from town, making it very convenient, and I’d highly recommend it to anyone looking for a tranquil escape in nature.

Visited the hot springs and had the most beautifully relaxed time. The grounds are gorgeous and the different pools are so lovely to relax in. Changing facilities, towels, and robes are fantastic and well kept. The staff were all lovely to deal with. Overall a fabulous experience.

Absolutely magical!! We took our 10 year old daughters for a well deserved family escape and it was perfect! My husband and I enjoyed some time to relax together with no distractions, just quiet moments and the most spectacular views. The girls explored, we floated and it felt like we pressed the pause button on life for a while. Left feeling relaxed, recharged and so connected. Thanks Metung Hot Springs, we will be back very soon!

stayed at the glamping tents which were amazing. Really quiet, right on the lake and perfect size. The hot springs were great as well. I even left something behind and they got in contact with me and posted it to me. Couldn't recommend more.

The hot springs are an incredible experience! They are worth making a special trip to the area for. The springs are set in lovely gardens across a sprawling area similar to a theme park (in size not vibe!). Some of the springs and the barrels have incredible views across the lake. There are large pools big enough for several groups, small pools for 4 people and individual barrels. The temperature in the pools we swam in ranged from 36-41°C. There are also hammocks to relax in. If I were to visit again, I would take food and a book and plan on spending the whole day. The hot springs are an absolute must see experience. Highly recommended!

I’ve so far been to many hot springs in Victoria and NSW. I recently visited Metung Hot Springs and while the setting is peaceful and the natural environment is great, there are definitely a few areas for improvement. Firstly, there’s a clearly lack of pools — you can find yourself walking a long distance between different sections, only to realize there aren’t that many pools available. Some parts of the site also appear unfinished, with construction still ongoing, which slightly affects the overall experience. The footpaths definitely need some attention — they’re not very barefoot-friendly, which is a big issue when patrons love walking around in comfort. Also, it’s quite a walking distance to the top of the hill. Adding a wet sauna would also be a great addition to make the facilities more complete. Another thing to note is the location — it’s quite far away from any major cities. While that can be part of the charm, it also means attracting visitors from Melbourne or road trippers will be challenging. Given the current pricing, visitors may just stop by other places closer to Melbourne, which offer much larger and more complete facilities for a similar price. There’s a lot of potential here, but a few key improvements are needed to make.

Absolutely stunning place. We stayed there overnight in the glamping and had an amazing experience. The place itself is so beautiful but most of all the staff are so friendly. The girls at the front desk was so professional and very welcoming. The tour boss guide Kevin is such a lovely man. He gave us a nice overview of the whole place. He was passionate about his job and the place. Loved his presence, will definitely come back to see you again Kevin. And thank you for making this a great experience. Jack and Juddy
