We found out about this place through Rick Steve’s’ guidebook. We booked it for a December trip to Tuscany. We stayed for two nights and focused on exploring Montepulciano itself as well as going for the Heart of Tuscany drive in the surrounding neighborhoods. We really enjoyed our stay here. The location is close to the main piazza in town, away from the busier part of town for a quieter stay. It is a family run place. The staff is extremely friendly. We booked one of the rooms with a balcony. Room had heater and ac equipped. There is also a thick blanket add-on in case heater is not enough for you. The view from the balcony was just 👌. Watching the winter fog rolling in in the morning and dissipate at night is nothing short of magical (despite owner joking about my bad luck for coming in on a foggy day 😁). See attached photos taken from the balcony.||I would stay here again on my next Toscana trip.

Beautiful hotel. We stayed here 3 nights. Enjoyed breakfast every morning. Walkable to everything. Owners were so friendly. We had a car, parked in their lot, didn't move it until we left. Would recommend to anyone traveling to Montepulciano. We made our reservations directly with the hotel.

Wonderful place to stay. Great breakfast bar with homemade pastries and cakes. The staff was wonderful, and meeting Giorgio & Ivana was a pleasure. Rooms were very clean and functional. |We were privileged to view the car collection that Mr. Giogio has accumulated!

Heaven on earth. The serenity of the Southern Tuscan landscape is literally biblical. We thoroughly enjoyed our 2 night stay atop the city walls listening to church bells. If you don't book this place while visiting Montepulciano, you are missing out really on the complete experience. We were lucky enough to also book a wine tasting at the De' Ricci tasting cellar. This allowed for us to learn a more thorough history of Montepulciano which includes the very historic Il Riccio. The rooms are updated and were some of the most modern we stayed in and all of our nine days in Central Italy. If you are smart, at some point you get on the little red golf cart tour that circles the city and also for €10, gets you to the top of the hill that you will have to climb several times during your stay. We didn't mind as we appreciated the extra exercise. We would recommend doing a visit to the Icario winery and tasting room which is about a 30 minute walk from the top of town. Some people looked at us a little crazy, while others cheered our bravado. We can't emphasize enough how great of a property this is, we had people poking their heads into the lobby if you would even call it a lobby while we were walking out wondering what beautiful place this was as I had mentioned Oh my God it's amazing We are actually staying here. The small breakfast they offer is great, and we had a cappuccino and enjoyed the quietness of the early morning. The highlight though really is opening your window on the top of town to the Tuscan Hill side and country below. Listening to the church bells and serenity here is something we will not too soon forget. Without hesitation, this is easily a four to five star place.

What a wonderful place! We felt like we were staying in a luxury Medieval Palazzo. Rooms were gorgeous, with views that you cannot even imagine. The owners, Gio and Ivana are extremely accommodating and treat you like family. Montepulciano is a magical town and this hotel is one of the highlights of this extraordinary place. You go back in time, and it truly is an experience not to miss. Don't skip out on the wonderfu;l Italian breakfast - with pastries that are so difficult to pass up. We look forward to our return trip to this exquisite city and lovely hotel!

This is such a beautiful and clean hotel. Just lovely. The staff is warm and takes great care to accommodate every ask! The staff makes yoi feel welcome and like a family member! The hotel is elegantly appointed. We will be back. I cannot believe this is just a 3 star hotel. It feels like at least a four star and i would trade this hotel experience for any of my four or five star hotel experiences! And the view. OMG!

This hotel defines family hospitality. Rooms are scrupulously clean, the views out the window are always enchanting, and the v it ew from the rooftop is magnificent. We were a party of six two couples in rooms and one in the available apartment which we used as a gathering space. The apartment is modern and fully furnished very comfortable. Our visit was for 10 days and we used Montepulciano as a base for day trips with a local guide. Dining possibilities are all close and excellent. Ask hotel to make reservations for you. This was our third visit to Montepulciano but the 1st for this gem, in the future the only hotel we will use.

Beautiful suite with spectacular view right next to Piazza Maggiore. Well restored gorgeous palazzo. Lovely pastries, cheeses and meat, fruit and cereal at breakfast. Owner was very nice to chat with (I’m working on learning Italian!).
