I love supporting local businesses . A true business understands that a happy customer is a returning customer. Today I went to go pick up my order and they forgot a part of the order. They asked me if I was going to go pick it up? How do you ask a customer, are you going to come pick up it because we made a mistake. I’m very disappointed . The service is declining and their food too. Do better Mexico Diner , I’ve been a loyal customer from beginning .

Google
They can really deck out the exterior dining a little bit. Lea and other shop has such a great decor and it’s a missed opportunity. Great spot for drink and the quality is good. I got drunk after one mag and that usual but it’s delicious. Free salsa and we order some guac to go with the drinks. We will be back comes spring and summer.

Linsey was incredibly helpful and attentive throughout our visit. The service was excellent, and the atmosphere was great. The food was decent, but Lindsey’s outstanding service really made the experience.

Google
What a hidden gem.. love the “Dimer”. Once you get passed the mis-matched fonts and misspelled words on some of their signage, you’ll realize this place makes some of the most amazing Mexican food in all of NYC. Their birria tacos are especially amazing. Not a fan of their back room with the TVs and wish overall they did more with the space. But the food is amazing.

Google
People are nice and fast service. I have dined a couple of times, but usually I do take out. Food is usually good but not consistent. My fav Fajita Mixta, and their green and red sauce is amazing. I would definitely eat again here and would love to get more consistent quality.

Yelp
Fast delivery. Good food, great prices. Local neighborhood gem. The guacamole portion with the chips was huge. The birria tacos were stuffed with meat and seasoned well. The pork skin was not crispy in those tacos not sure if the skin got soft because of the cheese and lettuce.

Yelp
Very underwhelming it's hard to find good Mexican food in the area in Brooklyn surprisingly. Been here for a few years and still haven't found a go to place.

Yelp
Mexico Diner was super affordable with big portions. The agua frescas as are also delicious. Solid Mexican spot

Yelp
Food was delicious. Had a veggie burrito and a margarita. Perfect meal! Highly recommend.

Yelp
Got delivery and was disappointed by the taste of everything. Got a chicken quesadilla, chips and salsa, street corn and fries. Would not get any of them again. Chicken quesadilla lacked flavor and had huge chunks of chicken. The chips were fine but the salsa is not good very watery. I expected street corn to be in a bowl and not on the Cobb. I was not a fan of the sauce on the corn. Really wanted to like it, just very average food.

Yelp
Not bad! Not bad at all. I'm pretty sure that I've ordered from Mexico diner before but I think that I got tacos the first time around. If you're familiar with my reviews, then you know that I already have a go to Taqueria, so that's really the reason why I don't order from here as much. I can't really say much about their tacos, but one thing I can say, is that if I didn't like them, I definitely would have remembered. So there's that. Last night I got a serious craving for Mojarra Frita and searched all of Uber eats to find a spot with good ratings and price point. I haven't had it since I was in California a few years ago and I've noticed that it's not a super popular dish here. A lot of Mexican restaurants don't even offer it. And then the ones that do either charge an arm and a leg or don't have reliable ratings. I thought $18.95 was decent. I was told that it came with a little salad, as well as rice and beans and tortillas on the side. At first glance, it looked good. I liked that they packed the rice and beans separately from the fish. I didn't like that it came in an aluminum container like the fish did. It was super easy to just pop the container of fish in the oven to reheat, but it was an annoying hassle transferring the rice and beans to a microwave safe dish being that they were packed together. I really liked the rice here, I typically don't like most Mexican rice. It's a texture thing for me, I can't really explain it. This rice however I loved, it paired well with the black beans. I'm pretty sure it was parboiled. I just wish they would have given more! If they were to give you two separate containers of rice and beans this would be a perfect portion for 2 people. The fish was seasoned really well, you could literally see the marinade they used on the inside. Also, it was cooked perfectly. Overall, I will be making sure to order more consistently. It's not an easy feat to have great reviews on both Yelp and Google as well as Ubereats. They're obviously doing something right. Can't wait to try out more of the menu!

Yelp
The one star is for the horchata, which is great. Otherwise I would give it zero stars. Why is it so hard for people to make vegetarian food vegetarian? I don't accidentally put salt in my coffee instead of sugar, and salt looks like sugar. What is going on in the kitchen that they could accidentally put chunks of meat in vegetarian orders? How is that a thing? I will probably come back here because my friends like it here, but I'm making a note here to remind myself to only order something like rice or plantains that's single ingredient, where I can see that there's no meat hidden inside. I'm so sick of this happening. Do better! Vegetarians beware - and if you have any food allergies this is probably not a good idea. Go somewhere else.

Yelp
- good service - tasty chimichanga - tasty tacos - they have a whole dining room area not pictured in a lot of the photos for the past three years, I thought it was only takeout - fish tacos got good reviews - pastor taco is alright

Yelp
After frequenting the Taqueria across the street a few times, we finally decided to give Mexico Diner a shot to compare and contrast... and BOY there sure is some stiff competition out here on Cortelyou Rd! First off, the al pastor tacos con todo ($4.45/each) here takes the crown. The meat is delicious and on the sweeter side, and my bf personally likes how the pineapple is more subtle here whereas Taqueria gives you larger chunks of the fruit. But maybe this is an unfair battle since Mexico Diner gives you a "con todo" option - in addition to the onions/cilantro, you also get lettuce, tomato, cheese & cream. Overall it's tastier. Similar in size and can fill you up after having just 2-3. We got takeout twice in a span of a week. One of the times we tried the guac & chips ($12) and pico de gallo & chips ($6.95) - both very good. Another time we tried the rice and beans (definitely better than Taqueria) and the cafe de olla aka homemade cinnamon Mexican coffee - we ordered this black and then added our own almond milk at home. I LOVED it. The not-so-greats include the Huevos Rancheros and the torta... just nothing too special about these two. The torta tasted like a very basic breakfast sandwich that I could make at home, and can be skipped. Both Mexican spots are really great and I don't want to play favorites (yet) but this one really surprised me. Guess I will continue eating through the menu at each spot a few more times to see which one reigns superior.

Yelp
I've eaten her before. I'll eat here again. And again. And again. They're no longer on the apps and have gone indie with their website for delivery. There's also always the method of calling (y'all remember that?!) Tonight's pickup was chicken tinga enchiladas rojas and they didn't disappoint. Good flavors. Solid pricing. They have a bar so you can have drinks. They do lunch specials. Outdoor seating. I mean.... Support and enjoy!

Yelp
Went to the Mexico Diner in Kensington, Brooklyn, NY, for Valentine's Day yesterday. People didn't start piling in till 7:15 PM. yesterday. The restaurant decorated for the holiday and had food and drink specials. Happy hour has $10 large cocktails. They've got indoor (with two dining rooms; one with the kitchen and another quieter) and outdoor dining. They bring you homemade salsa and chips. The salsa is quite good and a little sweet. Ordered two drinks which were very tasty and well made. Not strong, unfortunately. Mine, the enchanted, had a lot of blended pineapple and coconut cream, which I loved. For our entrees: bistec a la tampiquena and pechuga de pollo a la mexicana. Both dishes had slim slices of meat and lots of onions. The beef dish had a sauce and enchilada. Both dishes come with rice and beans on the side with tortillas. The service was excellent. We didn't have a one-way waitress. They were a large team. We enjoyed the food, but the kitchen made an error and put cheese in one of the dishes (I'm allergic to dairy, and I told them upfront, no crema o queso). Both of us ordered dishes to share, so that was disappointing. They offered to make it again, but I didn't want to waste any food, so I declined. I've been here 4x, and they only made a mistake once. The main dining room has a few tvs and plays Mexican music videos. They've got soundproofing, so it's less loud than you'd think. Portions were huge. We could only manage half, so we will enjoy it again today. We will be back!

Yelp
Mexico Diner has great lunch specials! I tried out their takeout/delivery yesterday. I ordered a few tacos & the Enchiladas Verdes lunch platter special. The lunch special included 2 corn tortilla enchiladas stuffed with chicken and topped off with green tomatillo sauce, queso fresco, fresh lettuce and red onions, crema Mexicana plus rice and black beans on the side. The fresh juice was omitted from my order; the food was super fresh and delicious. The lunch special was more than enough for one person in terms of portion size. The spice level was mild, not overpowering -- hot sauce was included on the side. I'm a big fan of corn tortillas (versus flour tortillas) and I'd say their corn tortillas are good (the ones I had in Mexico were tastier) but theirs were fine. Overall, Mexico Diner an excellent restaurant for authentic style Mexican cuisine. The lunch special was delicious; the prices are reasonable for the neighborhood.

Yelp
As a Texan I was unsatisfied with this Mexican cuisine. The enchiladas left much to be desired.

Yelp
Great food! Yummy and good portions. however the service was mediocre. We had to wave down the server multiple times. Would come again.

Yelp
For your classic Mexican favorites . It's good. Had their torta de milanesa But if you want the spicy in it make sure to specify.

Yelp
Really noce place, good service, ample portions at a fair price. An old friend lives nesr here and I had always wanted to try it but never had the opportunity until my family was in town. The chips were flour--not my fave, bit very good example of same. The salsa served with them was chunky, fresh, and layered with flavors--not something w have found anywhere in our home town of Portland. My only complaint with it was that they tagged it with some sugar--nothing you'd notice on the first several bites, but it creeps up and is a touch annoying for my palate. Probably not something that would bother or be noticed by many. We had an avocado salad, vegetable enchiladas, cheese enchiladas and fish tacos. The salad was fresh and, by design, the dressing came on the side. This was a nice touch, since many places overdress their greens. A bit of a surprise, and more traditional than you would get in America. By this, I mean that the cheese inside was not melted mozzarella, but chunks of Cotija. It was mild and pleasant, although the green sauce was a little spicy for the kids. The three fish tacos were generous, filled with quite a lot of tilapia, and came garnished with some radish and lime. They were not the best fish tacos, but they were fresh and pleasant. The kids each got an horchata, and both really liked it. My older one is a bit of an horchata connoisseur and he gave it top ratings. My kids give this place 3.5 stars, and on food alone, I somewhat agree with them. I've rounded up because the value proposition is so good, and the workers clearly care. I suspect that meat eaters might bump this even higher to 4.25.

Yelp
I was goin to do a delivery today but the lady who was on the phone sound really dumb she said because it wasn't a order over $10 the delivery guy wasn't goin to go because it $9.50 like what I was gonna tip guy regards

Yelp
Love little hole in the wall places! Girlfriend and I decided to come by last night. The place was empty inside but the kitchen was crazy! This place is clearly popular for take out since they were flying out throughout the night. We both saw this as a good sign. We started off with some guacamole and ordered the steak quesadillas as well as some fish tacos. Everything was delicious and fresh. Service was great too, very friendly and attentive throughout the meal. Prices are very reasonable as well. Everything came out to a little over $40 without tip. Will definitely be ordering from here again.

Laura M.

Yelp
Delicious beef burrito and chicken flauta, at a reasonable price, and delivered faster than we have ever received a takeout order from anywhere.

Yelp
I had dinner here last night for the second time, wondering if the flawless meal I'd had the week before could be duplicated. It was even better. My friend and I began with tamales, which are not available at most Mex restaurants in my area. They were delicious. I then had one of the best chili rellenos I've ever eaten. The service is super friendly, and the prices are reasonable. This has quickly become my top choice of restaurant when I go out to eat.

Yelp
Pretty good Mexican spot. Place is decently sized with many 2 person tables that can be connected for larger parties. Steak quesadilla- comes in 3 taco sized pieces. It was pretty good.the tortilla was nice and crispy. The cheese was good. Steak was good. Altho somewhat on the salty side. Tasted even better with the flavorful green spicy sauce. Shrimp cancun- its a dish with rice, some whole shrimp on the side drenched in pink sauce. Comes with avocado slices and a side of beans and tortilla. I'm not really familiar with how to eat this. We opted not to use the tortillas. I tried one of the shrimp. The sauce was interesting enough. The shrimp itself tasted really fresh. Overall a decent dish. I believe my fiance ordered the platillo Mexicano. Basically a bunch of grilled meats and veggies in 1 plate. He enjoyed it. I tried parts of it. It was pretty good but kinda salty. The rice and beans were flavorful. The free salsa and chips are delicious. I would come back again to try their other food.

Yelp
Everything about this place was amazing! My family and I went during lunch on a weekday. They have great lunch specials. The customer service was outstanding. Shoutout to Litzy! The food and drink were bomb dot com. We will definitely return.

Yelp
Everything was delicious The cinnamon coffee is amazing, the salsa is delicious, the steak quesadilla and chicken chimichanga were amazing. The outside patio was cute and we loved everything

Yelp
One of my favorite places to order from and to visit, the food is always excellent and the service is great. The restaurant has a nice, laid back atmosphere, and they now have a bigger space so it never feels overcrowded.

Yelp
Place has expanded and makes the most tasty Mexican food you can have. Although the weekends are a bit slow since it's super busy the food is worth waiting for. The place is huge and clean and very nice.

Yelp
Should have wrote this review a long time ago. I'm a long time customer and this place is incredible. I've had anywhere from 10-15 different items over the year and half I've lived in this area and almost everything is incredible. I order on Uber Eats and their own employees deliver which helps keep fees down and ensures quality control. Always fast (generally 25-30 mins) and always quality. I grew up in Texas so I was exposed to some tremendous Mexican food and there's other great spots in this area but Mexico Diner is in a class of their own as far as this area goes. Some items I'd recommend- enchiladas suizas, sopes, quesadillas (order corn tortillas - I'm normally a flour guy but these are special) and then the nachos and tortas are also great options. Best food in the area hands down.

Yelp
So Yummy! Came here on a Sunday afternoon with a friend. Got seated right away and was served a large basket of complimentary salsa and chips. But to my surprise the waiter didn't bring us water or anything. Sat for another 10 mins and we placed our order. Still no water.. after munching on the chips and salsa I got super thirsty. So I ordered a grape soda and asked for water. FINALLY WATER to the rescue! Food we ordered: Chicken mole poblano, al pastor tacos, chicken tacos & grilled bulb onions! Chicken mole poblano: chicken was super soft. Fall off the bone kind of soft. Sauce was tasty but on the sweet side. Overall not too bad though. Comes with tortilla, rice and beans. Tacos: both al pastor and chicken were good. I drenched mine with their green sauce. Grilled bulb onions. I have a thing for bulb onions. I don't know why I love them so much. This place made it good but a little too much lime. It was a bit too sour. Overall very good except customer service could improved a bit. There was only one waiter so poor guy was so busy.

Yelp
Hands down best Mexican in the area. We order frequently and have for years. Food is always great and so is the staff.

Yelp
Such good food and vibe. Went to see the World Cup game and they had a big screen tv! I would definitely stop and grab a bite to eat.

Yelp
I had a great time here with my girlfriend washing down delicious food with a few Coronas and lime. First, we ordered some guacamole to go with the large basket of complimentary salsa and chips. Both were tasty and I especially enjoyed the sweet salsa that also had a bit of a kick. Then, we ordered steak quesadillas and fish tacos which were really good as well! The service here is also very friendly and accommodating. I can't wait to be back!

Yelp
I had an amazing meal from @mexicodiner_ this afternoon! I found the restaurant on @grubhub which is also available on @seamless and @doordash Firstly the food was delicious. The shrimp and the sauce it comes in is fantastic. The shrimp tacos was delicious and they provide homemade salsa verde it comes with rice and black beans. The shrimp taco was really good I love the fresh cilantro and lime to garnish it. The fish taco was good but my one thing to say is it could use a better quality fish inside. I would pay more for the taco to have that tender , melt in your mouth type of fish inside. Of course Chilean sea bass would be most ideal but to keep it at a certain price point I would consider Basa/Swai fish or Pollock those are more fluffy and retain more moisture. Other than that I loved every bite.

Yelp
Always good food. I hope this becomes a safe place for ALLL queer people! I put faith in the possibility and trust that it can happen!! anyway all the food hitssss

Yelp
Honestly hands down one of the best take out places in the neighborhood. I ordered the Bistec Quesadilla and the Nachos. Both were super delicious and had such great flavor to them. I was super surprised and can't wait to try more items off of their menu. Decent prices too which is a plus

Yelp
Had the pleasure of enjoying Mexico Diner's steak burrito paired with some carnitas quesadillas. The quesadillas not only filled me up, they were delicious! Carnitas were crispy on the outside and soft on the inside, a great combination with guac and verde sauce! The burrito did its thang with portion and presentation. Although not lacking in flavor, the steak was cooked tougher and diced finer than preferred. Paired with a colorful side salad, the burrito platter definitely worked in harmony for this selection. Always fun to pair with a margarita, your taste buds and belly will thank me later. Happy Eating! #BigWillYall

Yelp
Food is excellent! Prices are steep. Had take out arrived promptly La de dah la de dah

Yelp
CROOKS NOT COOKS! They took our order and took our money online, gave us no dinner, no nothing! My family ordered off the Diner's so-called online order website MenuStar. But it was defunct as Mexico Diner revealed when we came to pick up our dinner --the order for which they said they never got. They never owned up to the mistake, or apologized, or even took the pay site off their own website. Heaven forbid they would even give us a free meal. They even told us to order again and pay again! No! Now we have to deal with the bank for a refund. BE WARNED, THIS IS A SHAMEFUL BUSINESS!

Yelp
Ordered some take out and was not disappointed. We got the bistec ranchero and the carne enchilada with a side of plaintains. The rice and beans were completely on point. My favorite part of the meal was watching my Argentinian boyfriend cry from eating the jalapeños. Just make sure you can take a little heat. Plaintains were a little dry. I'd pass on those next time but definitely will order again. So much food we have an entire meal for tomorrow Update: my bf and I are now obsessed with this place because of the burritos. They just consistently get better and better each time we order them. It is the only thing we order and we devour them. Love their green sauce!
google avatar

Erin M.

Yelp
Placed order on Uber Eats. We had Al Pastor and chorizo tacos, super flavorful and yummy. Both the red and green sauce are tasty too. I asked for extra lime and they were not stingy with it. Will definitely order again.

Yelp
If I were any good at writing poetry, I'd write an epic for this blessed restaurant. It's not fancy but the food here is a comfort like no other. Get anything on the menu, it'll scratch a different itch. Pozole and barbacoa on weekends, nachos on game nights, camarones al mojo de ajo when you're feeling bougie, they've got it all. And don't forget the agua de horchata to wash it down.

Ishamel M.

Yelp
Amazing no words!. No literally no words! They blew me into shock with their empanadas and their quesadillas and the appetizers kept me in a good mood while waiting for my food
google avatar

Stella F.

Yelp
Ordered in grubhub and got 1lb of filling (shredded chicken), guacamole, and chips. The 1lb of filling I highly doubt was actually a pound. It came in a container that usually has like a small side soup in it. And same goes for the 8 oz guac that was in a container 1/3 the size of the chicken. The chicken filling was just ok. Nothing special. The guac was VERY onion-y and the chips were tri-colored. The blue chips tasted of food coloring. Generally it wasn't very good but decently priced. I wouldn't order from here again.

Yelp
The food here is great , never disappointed me . Tacos are amazing and I love coming here with my gf , she as well likes the food . I recommend coming here .

Thomas J.

Yelp
Food is incredible and to go maragariats as good and fresh as if you were there at the bar! This was a place that has been working hard to get people good food fast and I think they have cracked the code! Show them some love! Chicken Tinga Burrito was an absolute ganw changer for me and the empandas are like nothing I have had.

Yelp
I've come here a couple of times already and have never been disappointed. My go to meal is the Platillo Mexicano. Comes with a plate of rice and beans and assorted meats with grilled cheese. They also give you tortillas and sauces to compliment your meal. Very affordable meal and very filling as well. Most times I have leftovers to take home to eat later on. Last time I was here I opted for the tacos with guacamole and that was delicious as well. The meat was juicy and not dry at all and portion size was good. Will come again. P.S. They also give you FREE chips and salsa while you wait for your meal which is an added bonus!

Yelp
I live a couple blocks away from Mexican Diner and reviews are good, so last night I walked over to order takeout. Fish tacos, chips w guacamole and salsa, beans and rice. Everything was delicious and perfectly packaged. I stood outside to wait for my order, because it was busy inside the restaurant and I would have been in the way. Their delivery guys were busy, hence the secure packaging. The cops came in for takeout too - always a good sign. The fish tacos were wonderful. 3 tacos, filled with nice sized pieces of fish, chopped onions, greens, and strips of avocado. The meal was served with little containers of green and red sauce. The red was too "hot" for me, but will be enjoyed by others. I loved the green sauce! The tacos were delicious and very satisfying. I was very happy to discover the chips are freshly made! The guacamole was superb! A good strong garlic favor is present in every bite, I like that. Their guacamole is thick, always my preference. The salsa also is a perfect consistency, but there is a sweetness to it, that was unexpected. I am sure folks would probably enjoy this, but I prefer this lovely sauce without a hint of sweetness. Both containers that held the sauces were large, another pleasant surprise. I will go back!

Yelp
Cute little neighborhood hole in the wall. Great food is definitely hard to find in Kensington and I'm glad I took a chance on this place. I've walked by this place a countless amount of times and always wondered if it was any good and decided to take a chance. I'm glad that I did. My boyfriend ordered the marinated pork meal and he was very surprised at the portion size. The food was nicely seasoned, fresh ingredients, etc. I ordered the fish tacos after craving decent tacos for weeks. The fish tacos are amazing and the portions are great, especially for the pricing. I would recommend this to anyone looking for a quick bite to eat.

Yelp
This review is so long overdue. A couple of years ago I was sat on my couch looking for a place to eat. Obviously, I turned to Yelp. I wanted to try something new, and Mexico Diner was just that. They were right up top! Even better, they were literally a block from my apartment down a side street I never walked down, because I'm a. creature of habit and all that. My girlfriend and I went once, thinking it'd be a letdown. We were wrong. This is seriously some of the best Mexican food in Brooklyn. Authentic, delicious, and filling. It's even pretty cheap, which is an obvious plus! I've since moved from Ditmas Park, but still find myself trying to bribe my girlfriend into going. With food as delicious as this, the bribes don't take much. We keep coming back, we keep loving it. And honestly, if you're looking for a great place to eat this is it. Get the Platillo Mexicano and you won't be disappointed.
