Meson Panza Verde, Antigua, Guatemala - Explore & Book

"For 20 years this was Antigua's premier restaurant, with just 4 guest rooms, until owners Bruce McCowan and Laurel Jacobson extended Meson Panza Verde into the next-door property, creating 12 imaginative suites and rooms. They incorporated hand-crafted furnishings, private patios floating with water lilies, a domed roof in the bathroom, and a fountain-fed lap pool at its centre. This is a world of sumptuous colonial elegance shot through with contemporary verve. Expect Cuban antiques, panoramic terraces, bougainvillea-draped verandas, twisting staircases, turn-of-the-century chandeliers, Laurel-designed resin patterns, vintage porcelain and tiles. There are fresh flowers and Guatemalan textiles in your room; regular yoga and classes upstairs in the Panza Verde art gallery. Live music plays 6 nights a week, and the fine restaurant and music salon host everybody who's anybody. It's the heart of Antigua's vibrant social and cultural scene. Highs Uniquely styled colonial Spanish and Cuban interior with wonderful furnishings and architectural featuresOpulent, individual and well-appointed suitesDestination restaurant and 2 cosy barsNarrow lap pool, lush inner courtyard and charming roof terracesReception desk with bilingual staff, and a small office where guests can access free internetIt's close to the main plaza and Antigua's rich heritage Lows The restaurant can be the all-consuming focus on busy evenings - to the detriment of hotel guestsThe plunge pool is narrow and more of a decorative feature than anything elseThe bustling vibe may not suit everybody - and the smaller rooms just off the restaurant can be noisy at night (live music Wed-Fri)" - Nadine Mellor

We went to this restaurant for lunch on a recommendation and we were not disappointed! The duck thigh with blackberry sauce was out of this world. The tuna tartare was so amazing that I couldn't even wait to get a picture. Also, the restaurant was beautiful! If we return to Antigua we will definitely stay in this hotel as well.

My wife and I went for a relaxing getaway weekend. The service and staff were exceptional. I ordered champagne and roses for our room prior to arrival and my wife moved it. The dinner in La Cueva was ok but thr ambiance was spectacular. 8 min walk from everything. Would highly recommend.

The hotel was quite loud the first 2 nights I was there. The hotel next to the room is a wedding venue which means a lot of noise. The room was beautiful, and the bed was very comfortable, but the noise made it quite hard to sleep. The breakfast was good, but the beans and coffee were cold. Service was quite insistent that they receive a tip even though breakfast was included and my daily signature said no tip. The room was cleaned daily but they did not replace the soap and towels. Location was good and close to several really good restaurants. I would not eat at the hotel's cafe for the price, the food was cold and not as good as cafes nearby. The shower took a long time to heat up. Also, the hotel does not offer hot water for drinking or tea at night. This hotel is more about making money and less about service to its guests. Not worth the price at all.

We had our rehearsal/welcome dinner at Meson Panza Verde a couple of weeks ago and it was the absolute BEST experience working with Carmen and the team! It was a dream evening and everything was truly perfection. We couldn't have asked for a better night and it was all due to the hard work and dedication of the Panza Verde team. Even from the very beginning they were such a pleasure to work with and made sire everything was exactly as we'd envisioned it. We would recommend Panza Verde to all of our family and friends! 100000/10 experience!!

I wanted to love Panza Verde. At first glance, the property looks charming and has an upscale aesthetic. However, once you look past the surface, the experience was deeply disappointing and stressful due to pretentious management and outdated facilities. Management & Service: The biggest issue here is the attitude. The management was consistently rude and condescending throughout our stay. Hospitality is non-existent. • Nickel-and-Diming: We were shocked when family members (who were staying at the hotel!) were told they had to purchase drinks just to sit and listen to the live band in the common area. It makes zero sense to treat paying guests this way. • The Check-Out Ordeal: We were made to wait while staff checked our room—a practice usually reserved for budget hostels, not "luxury" boutique hotels. They then falsely claimed a towel was missing and charged us for it. We absolutely did not take it; it felt like a petty scam to squeeze more money out of us. The Rooms & Facilities: The hotel is dangerously poorly lit. You can hardly see where you are walking at night. This lack of lighting also seems to be a convenient way to hide the state of the rooms. • While they look nice at a glance, the details are old and outdated. • The bathrooms did not feel clean, and given how dark it is, it’s impossible to tell how well they are actually maintained. Amenities & Location: • Welcome Drinks: The "welcome drink" ticket is a joke. It is strictly limited to specific (cheaper) options, even though most drinks are priced similarly. It felt cheap rather than welcoming. • The Speakeasy: Don't let them talk you into visiting their "speakeasy." It is a cramped room with a poor alcohol selection—nothing special at all. • Location: The hotel is quite far from the main area of Antigua. It is an inconvenient location compared to other options. Verdict: Panza Verde is trying very hard to portray itself as an upscale hotel, but it is a rip-off. Between the hostility of the staff, the cleanliness concerns, and the location, you are much better off booking one of the many other beautiful hotels in Antigua that actually respect their guests. Do yourself a favor and stay elsewhere.

For about $300 a night you will get a piece Of heaven and wonderful dreams in this beautiful hotel with Spanish influence in all of its architecture. The grounds are kept so beautifully with the plants and trees, and the three staff work very hard to keep the beauty of the nature preserved here in Skyland multiple levels of the hotel and roof. There is a little pool as well indoors.

Amazing food, service, and atmosphere. I came here by accident to attend a yoga class in the upstairs gallery and stayed to have breakfast in the beautiful garden. Mesón Panza Verde feels a world apart, it contains a magic in the space, service and comida. I appreciated so much that they adapted a dish to be gluten free for me. This place was the best surprise and a must for any curious quiet pleasure seeking traveler in Antigua.

Wonderful location. Quiet and beautiful. Our room was a little musty but coming out of rainy season here so not sure you can find a place without that. Beautiful and would stay again. Breakfast is amazing and delicious
