Food was average. Me being a pasta lover didn’t find the pasta tasty here. It was very bland and the garlic taste was not at all in the garlic shrimp spaghetti. Pizza was okay, our drinks were good and the fries were good only. Service was good too. Tables are very congested- felt like more tables were put on purpose to fit extra people but the capacity was not enough- waiters had to squeeze through every single time.

Google
Beautiful little place to grab something to eat in Aspen. Great indoor or outdoor seating options. The pizza was very good. The hostess was pretty laid-back and couldn’t tell if she really cared about her job or not. Server could’ve been a little more attentive. Had to ask more than once to get a refill on drinks. The bathroom is a building bathroom, not dedicated to the restaurant. Not the cleanest ever. Very public. But when you got to go……

Google
If you are looking for a restaurant that has good food but it's not ridiculously expensive - this is the place. Great appetizers, wood fired pizzas (gluten free too), pasta (gluten free available), fish, chicken and steak. It is a casual lively restaurant, favored by the locals. Cool place for lunch and apres ski as well. It's been in Aspen 30+ years and this says it all. We enjoyed the calamari, arugula salad, pasta, and trout. Very tasty. Lots of wines and cocktails to choose from.

Google
The service was perfect peak (with Will taking care of the table). I have tried chicken risotto (daily special), giant calamari, penne with beef (daily special), and bananabread pudding. The restaurant has really nice ambiance and I would love to be back.

Google
A bit underwhelming. I had the pasta, which was just average, and the prices felt steep for the quality. Overall, not the best value for the cost. Update: In response to what I've written above, the restaurant owner chose to mock my review, stating that it "didn't mean anything" and insinuated that I expected a meal for under $20 in Aspen. For the record, I did express my concerns about the food's lack of flavor and quality while still at the restaurant, but no action was taken to address them at the time. If this is how the establishment chooses to respond to constructive feedback—by ridiculing reviewers instead of focusing on improving the food and service—I wonder how they expect to retain customers. I stand by my original review, and it's disappointing to see a business more interested in attacking feedback than using it to make improvements.

Google
Good tasty food. There are few vegetarian options as well. It’s in walkable distance to silver queen gondola. Eggplant appetizer was awesome to be specific. Food runners were quick and patient to listen our requirements.

Google
Rude and arrogant manager! I saw other poor reviews on Yelp, should have passed on it but they were the only ones that had an outdoor table available and we were hungry. It was a mistake. Better to find another restaurant in Aspen, plenty nicer choices

Google
We stopped for a quick bite to eat for lunch. I ordered a penne shrimp pasta for $24. Unfortunately it was very overpriced and the rock shrimp that came in the dish were so small I thought I was eating canned shrimp. We also ordered the eggplant appetizer when we first arrived, and it never came. We mentioned it to our waiter, to which he replied, “do you still want it.” Well of course we want it, we ordered it for a reason! They gave it to us on the house, but it came out cold which was a huge disappointment. Both the pasta and the service were less than mediocre.

Yelp
What a cute restaurant. They had both indoor and outdoor seating. We had a reservation for our party of 6 and were seated immediately. Our waiter was awesome, he was great with our kids. While they don't have a kids menu, they do have meals for kids. Our drinks were made with such care, and they were so refreshing. The bread was fresh out of the oven and was devoured. I had the Icelandic Cod, that was delicious. The risotto that came with it was yummy too. Everyone else enjoyed their food too.

Tanvir A.

Yelp
Arrogant and rude manager! The food was not bad, we ordered three entrees: a pizza that was very good; an entree salad that was also good and the house special pasta. The house precisely was absolutely tasteless, I took one bite and asked our server if I could get a different pasta When the check came, I was charged for both pastas. I asked him why and he said the manager asked him do it. I spoke to the manager and she was very curt - she said you ordered it, if you didn't like it... you still need to pay for it!!!

Rich B.

Yelp
Don't bother. Service is slow and apathetic. Drinks are watered down. Pizzas are good. Gotta be better options in town.

Gina K.

Yelp
Service was good. Carpaccio was one of the best I've had. Chicken piccata wasn't good. Blackened salmon was incredible. Banana bread pudding was also a fail.

Gretchen E.

Yelp
I had the linguini with mushrooms and lots of goat cheese. It was yummy. I haven't had dessert yet. I got greens with goat cheese for an appetizer, and it was a salad which honestly I wasn't expecting.

Sara D.

Yelp
We went for a casual lunch and we were very impressed. The staff were extremely kind and accommodating. The food was exceptional. The veggie pizza was so flavorful; so much so, that my kids enjoyed it, despite not usually eating spinach. The Caesar salad was one of the best we've tasted. The spaghettini bolognese was a table favorite as well. The 'Mezz burger was juicy and flavorful and the fries were perfectly crispy and seasoned well. The wood oven fired pita was loaded with flavorful veggies and chicken. The calamari was perfectly seasoned and crispy. Needless to say, we'll definitely be back the next time we're in town.

Emily M.

Yelp
Between 3-4 stars. This place was walk-in ready for 530pm on a Saturday. It's bright and airy with an elevated but non-pretentious atmosphere. The bread basket was tasty! The waiter was friendly and attentive but not overly so. The mushroom linguini was flavorful with the chevere. My friends liked their daily special - which was a salmon penne dish with spicy marinara.

Bob E.

Yelp
After reading the reviews about this place I was concerned, but a good foodie friend recommended so I decided to take the risk. The food was excellent. Period. I had the bolognese and Lacey had the pasta/chicken/broccoli. We really enjoyed both. The service was good. We waited and wanted for nothing. Sitting outside enjoying the weather was amazing. There is a full wine list as well. This place is definitely worth checking out. Drink up my friends!

Suzanne M.

Yelp
The worst experience Ever! Bartender told us the eggplant rollatini was made baked and fresh in house and was her favorite thing on the menu when we called the owner to explain fried ricotta wasn't what we ordered there was huge argument, wouldn't let us order something else, still wanted to charge , when we left no tip the service was terrible, girl ignored us the other owner lost his temper, was yelling ,screamed threw his money across the bar we thought we might be assaulted! Don't waste any time or money there. Misogynist crazy owners!

Trystin G.

Yelp
service was amazing food was delicious. this was our carb load spot before the aspen marathon!

Van N.

Yelp
I'm not sure why this place got such low ratings on Yelp but my experience yesterday was the complete opposite for dinner. The place was packed and cozy. The food was delicious with good portion sizes and a drink list that is extensive. Just like any other Aspen restaurant, the prices are going to be what they are. This place is not as fancy as some may want for Aspen, it is more homey than that. Notable dishes: -Giant calamari -Pasta bolognese (with pappardelle pasta - pro tip! ) -Their lamb rack special (amazing)

Abie D.

Yelp
This resturant is absolutely atrocious. I get there 10 mins before my reservation and i walk inside with my party of 5 and the lady is very polite and says it will be ready shortly. Perfect i go out side and we wait 5 mins and i come back to check and a guy is there and says your table is not ready while not looking so i ask the polite waitress and he doesn't let her speak and says "don't talk to her talk to me" so rude! then i get sit down the waiter is very kind and i order a simple cheese pizza my friends get pasta and my other friend gets a pizza (same order as me) the food gets here my friends get there order my friend who got the pizza got a perfect cheese pizza. MY PIZZA HAS NO SAUCE I WANT FO EMPHASIZE HOW BAD A PIZZA WITH NO SAUCE IS. The reason i don't get another or change it is because i am so scared of this guy. HIGHLY HIGHLY DONT SUGGEST TO COME HERE!

Gabby S.

Yelp
I came here with a large group after a weekend of backpacking. We were looking a little rough but were greeted kindly by all the staff! We expected prices to be expensive since we were in Aspen, but everything was equally tasty to match the cost. Most of us got burgers and they were all very large and delicious. I ordered the pappardelle and really enjoyed it. We got bread to start, which is always a major plus and we were especially excited to see this after living off dehydrated food for the weekend :) Overall had a great lunch! One recommendation- I wish they had served breakfast because that is what we were all craving! We had to wait until they opened at 11:30 and settle for lunch food.

Melody V.

Yelp
Delicious chicken, artichoke risotto appetizer. We ordered two, ordered salads & made it our entree. Nice service. Nice atmosphere. We'll be back!

Emrah A.

Yelp
I had been to another locations of Mezzaluna before and I very much enjoyed my experience. However this location was not even close to them, the Seebreeze cocktail was so vodka heavy I literally got drunk after one drink. Calamari was ok, but the sauce was too spicy and bitter. Pepperoni pizza was very greasy and the dough was extremely crispy, it was not a pizza, I'd call it something else. Overall it was an extremely disappointing experience, I think the ingredients they used had very poor quality.

Indranil D.

Yelp
Food was ok and the restroom ws nasty. I found the Gas station restroom to be cleaner than this. We ordered pizza and pasta which ws just ok. the restaurant looks nice and the location is beautiful.

Hezi B.

Yelp
Three stars give to the service. The food, especially the pizza, is not good at all. I am from Maryland and this pizza is definitely not as good as any pizza shop in Maryland.

Madeline C.

Yelp
Terrible food, rude service. All 8 of us were disappointed in our meals. None of us even ate the food it was so bad. The waiter made rude comments to us based on our drink and food choices too! Don't waste your money here.

Will K.

Yelp
Not a bad choice when eating in downtown Aspen. Don't let the security acting like doorman put you off, there's good food here. The menu is OK, and the food wasn't bad. I'd skip the peach appetizer; we were expecting something a bit more fancy.. and it was really just, peaches with sauce. Service was OK, considering they're short staffed like everyone right now, they were friendly, but flustered.

Jeffrey B.

Yelp
Great lunch spot in Aspen. Whilst a little further to walk in ski boots the menu is fresh, service fast and friendly and very reasonably priced. Try the wood fired pizzas or the penne with rock shrimp and Avacado in particular. Revisited in 2020 and had a pizza. Service remains friendly and seating quick - pizza dough was a little floury for my taste but nonetheless a good choice for a snack.

Dan M.

Yelp
I used to love this place, Great location nice atmosphere nice bar. The food used to be really good I don't know what happened but the last couple times I tried this place the food is less than mediocre. How do you mess up a brick oven pizza? I'm done with Mezzaluna. I consider myself a pizza connoisseur And not to be rude I actually have had frozen pizzas that are much better. This place needs to get their act together And work on the quality of their food especially when there's so many good restaurants in Aspen. Come on mezzaluna keep up with the Joneses.

Brooks M.

Yelp
We were hesitant to go given some of the reviews. We were more than pleasantly surprised. The main room is very nice but they have also created a side room which allows for appropriate physical distancing. The service was outstanding from being seated. The waiter was pleasant and helpful but not intrusive. Never did we have to ask for anything. Your water glass would not make it to half full before it was filled again. The food was very good. We started with the burrata which was garnished with tomatoes. My trout was excellent. Perfectly cooked and in a sea of delicious puréed spinach. The other dish was the rock shrimp pasta which was creamy and tasty. I'd suggest that you try it yourself. Our experience was truly 5 stars.

Emma E.

Yelp
Do NOT get the chicken parmigiana! It tastes like someone left overbaked chicken out for three hours, put it in Ragu, and served it for $30. None of the food is spiced enough, very bland. The service is great, but not good enough to make up for the god-awful taste of the food. If you are in Aspen, save yourself and choose another overpriced Italian restaurant.

Francesca K.

Yelp
Food: Food is good and filling. Has good flavor. It was great Service: Service is mediocre. Very slow Overall: nothing special dont need to go

Lisa B.

Yelp
Nice comfortable restaurant, good happy hour deals on pizza, etc. A few moderate priced items on the regular menu. Good service, polite and friendly. Nice bread service. Good pasta, pizza and selections. I enjoy this restaurant when I get to visit, wish there were a few more mid priced items. Like the second location as well!

Shey S.

Yelp
Food was bland and server was very unpersonable, but one of the cheaper options in town. I don't recommend the pulled pork pappardelle.

Emily W.

Yelp
One thing about mezzaluna, their salads NEVER disappoint. I typically get the arugula fig salad but i had to try this salad. And omg so good & refreshing! Highly recommend mezzaluna while in town

Sam T.

Yelp
The food...was ok. It is definitely something I would go back to because for the price point the food was good since a lot of restaurants are not open during off season. But my biggest disappointment was the service. Mind you I am dining alone and there's maybe only 5 other tables occupied on a Saturday night. There's more wait staff then diners, yet I had to ask for water twice and another drink from a waiter that wasn't mine. I really value customer service. The server was nice but it attentive enough for my liking.

Jill N.

Yelp
The service is great. However, the menu offers a "panzanella salad" which is definitely NOT a panzanella salad - it is only a huge batch of kale with mozzarella balls and tiny strings of cucumber and red onion and a few extremely hard and impossible to chew croutons. As anyone who knows what a panzanella salad is, this is NOT. To their credit, they took it off the bill after I complained, but I really think this is a very mediocre restaurant in general despite its lovely location in Aspen.

David H.

Yelp
The pita pocket chicken sandwich was probably the worst sandwich I ever had Tasteless pizza bread Cold pieces of very dry and tasteless chicken and greens -no matter what I added , it did not improve Ate half of it and later I wished I had not touched it- The pasta was not sny better totally tasteless .

Debjani Moitra C.

Yelp
Isn't it wonderful to find a restaurant right when you need it! We were tired and hungry after spending a beautiful (rather cold) day at the White Lake (near Maroon Bells) and we started looking for a place to sit and enjoy a warm meal. We decided to sit outside with Prisha (17 months old) because it was a sunny afternoon. The waiter quickly got us a high chair and our menus. The food was prepared with the freshest ingredients and with no unnecessary spices. Try their GIANT CALAMARI (for $17.50), it's flash-fried with spicy chili sauce. We also got Penne with Rock Shrimp, avocados, tomatoes and basil in a three citrus cream sauce and their Special Dish of the Day - Ricotta with tomatoes and basil in a creamy sauce. We would love to go back there again.

Kay S.

Yelp
Came in mid day, bartender was very welcoming and friendly. You can tell it's a homely place! Had the penne with chicken and was very pleased :)

Blaze J.

Yelp
Not good food, Food was overpriced. Pasta with seafood was served with what I believe to be spoiled mussels along with two small shrimps. Not enough amount of pasta as well. The steak was very chewy and cost $40 could have got a better steak at a hole in the wall bar. Service was not great I should have left once I noticed no one eating food but having drinks instead. I suggest you chose another place to eat.

Tova B.

Yelp
This place was super cute and the employees were really nice. there were 7 of us and nothing was messed up or anything and everyone enjoyed their food. we got gluten free margarita pizza snd the wild mushroom. i loved the margarita besides the fact it was so hot it burnt my tongue but that's my fault. for my entree i got the blackened salmon pasta with gluten free noodles. it was actually pretty good just really heavy on the sauce and the salmon was already cut up, it still tasted really good it just wasn't what i was expecting. the gluten free noodles were really good. they have a lot of gluten free options and most things are gluten free if you have an allergy; however they do use the same oven to cook gluten and not gluten pizzas. i wasn't told that until after it came out which was a little annoying but i took some of my medicine so i could eat it. only taking off a star here because of how long our food took - maybe like 45 minutes. other people ordered after us and ours came out way later too.

Tanzy W.

Yelp
Looking for a cool and casual happy hour. Well, they don't actually have one and the bar is very limited. The staff was friendly, the over all atmosphere congenial. From the actual food and beverage, I'd take the time to find something a bit more tasty. We had the giant calamari, which was about 8 pieces. They do not appear to be made there but some type of frozen reheated type food that was hard to identify. We also had the popcorn shrimp. We only had about 1/2 cup of tiny, over fried, mini shrimp. I don't know if the were prepped on site but fully a third of the half cup was the over fried crumbles that had fallen to the bottom. None of the positively reviewed items in the website were on the menu we were provided. Sometimes, restaurants rely on tourist that will not be back. Unfortunately that was the vibe I got today.

Mary S.

Yelp
Had a fresh arugula salad with Salmon. Light and delicious. Pizza looked super but didn't try it. Next time. Service slow and waiter off putting which is why I took off a star. Service matters.

Jessica K.

Yelp
So incredibly disappointing. Our waitress was rushed, rude, and inattentive - which normally I give a lot of grace to waitstaff as I don't know how their other tables are but that goes out the window with her. I ordered the grilled salmon (asked if it was wild, she said yes) cooked medium, after waiting for our entrees for near an hour and a half I received my fish and it was not wild forgoing that as I was starving I took several bites from the end and realized quickly it was RAW COLD. I sent it back, seems reasonable, and when it returned it was the same filet and when I put my fork through the middle it was STILL raw. I very rarely send food back and when I do - it's always if it's undercooked. In those instances I have NEVER been given the same piece of meat - it's always new so for as "nice" as this place deems I was really taken aback to receive the same piece of fish with the fork marks from my previous attempt at eating just torched. I swear to God, they took a torch like you would heat crème brûlée and just heated the end I took a bite of. As my company of 7 people had already finished eating I kindly asked that after sending it back and it returning still uncooked it be taken off our tab. I was made to feel like it was an inconvenience for them to do so. Will not recommend to anyone.

Rodrigo C.

Yelp
Me and my family came here yesterday and expecting it to be pretty good food. also our waiter was nice, So we ordered our drinks and when my moms margarita came it tasted spicy and bad (she ended up drinking water) so we took it back. So 10 minutes later we ordered our food and appetizer's which took around 20 minutes for our appetizer's to come nothing special the calamari I didn't like. So about 10 minutes later they gave us bread I think they forgot bread was bad and rough the only good thing was those store brought breadsticks. 30 minutes later our food came the pizza was decent my dad was eating his chicken parmigiana and when he tried the spaghetti it was dry as heck so when my dad got in the middle of the chicken parmigiana we found it literally raw it was pink we took it to the waiter. he came back and said " the chef was it was perfectly cooked but we told them my uncle is the owner of a actual good Italian restaurant called La Bella Vita in Colorado Springs and we knew when it was raw so they took it back and remove it from the check then my sister didn't eat her chicken parmigiana so we checked if it was raw and it was raw too. So I was on my last pizza slice when I was disgusted to see the person making the pizzas was scratching their armpits and the worst part is he didn't even have gloves for the extremely over priced bill I was extremely disappointed with this restaurant. Instead of this consider going to La Bella Vita in Colorado Springs, Will not be returning.

Sara H.

Yelp
Had a nice dinner for 10! The manager helped us with plans ahead of time. Food was good, we shared a lot of appetizers and pizza.

Bin L.

Yelp
We ordered a pizza and some other items. When the pizza was served, it was cold. So I told the waiter that the pizza was not fresh baked. He took it back and just baked it again ! when the pizza was returned, it was too dry. After I complained again, he finally gave us a fresh one. I don't think it's professional to serve cold pizza in a pizza shop, and re-baking an already baked cold pizza is not acceptable, although I gave credit to the fresh one they switched at the end.

Andrea S.

Yelp
If it were just one meal I would not be writing such a negative review. However all of us ( four in our party ) had such a terrible food experience this evening at Messaluna. The penne pasta was "soggy". When we sent it back they said " we would have to wait 10 minutes if we wanted "fresh pasta"! My husbands linguini was too salty and my lamb chops were so full of fat I left them uneaten. ( the waiter never asked if there was something wrong with my meal) The risotto was like glue and tasteless. How can a once well known spot, serve such terrible food? We were all very disappointed and won't be going back any time soon. I do understand how they wanted to turn the table quickly but we barely sat down and were asked for our orders. Save your money and go elsewhere.

Jordan W.

Yelp
I don't understand the low reviews they have at all. Great service and very covid compliant. I was with a group of 10 (we sat at two tables) and everyone loved their food. We had a couple pizzas, salads, pasta special, and trout. All of it was great

Rune M.

Yelp
Mezzaluna has fallen off a bit. I posted 3 stars but it's really 2.5 stars out of 5. To start, it just feels dated and not in a good nostalgic kind of way. We had the pastas and everything was fine. The problem comes with the fact that there are other restaurants at the same price with better food. The restaurant just doesn't feel competitive with its surroundings at all. It's just average. But average isn't cutting it when looking for a place to eat in Aspen. Service is great however, shout out to the waiters.

Dorothy W.

Yelp
This restaurant reminds me of an upscale European cafe with a large bar. The service was friendly. Our food was fair and the wine list was good. Our meals included the lunch pasta special, the spaghettini and a parpadelle with sausages. All we're fair to good. We enjoyed our meals and beverages.

Josh H.

Yelp
Awful and rude service. Food is pretty good. But unless you like the same rude men who run the place, waiting for drinks for 20 minutes, not your place. Gave this place a try over and over, and it never changes. Just plane rude.

Athena M.

Yelp
We snacked through our lunch because we had planned on having dinner here. It was pretty crowded for a Tuesday night but the service wasn't as terrible as other Yelp reviews. I will say that this was our main meal 6 hours before our entire table ended up with food poisoning back at the hotel in the middle of the night. I think that should say a lot in terms of food quality. We all shared a pizza and dessert. My guess is the pizza had some bacteria in it to make us sick. Out of 4 one of us even went to the emergency room. BEWARE OF THIS PLACE. Read further into the reviews and even the hidden ones. We had no idea what we were in for. And if we had read these reviews sooner we would of chosen somewhere else to dine.

Roan S.

Yelp
We asked for bread 5 different times and they still haven't given it to us. We're eating dessert right now.

Carolina B.

Yelp
Cute spot with an outdoor patio. We enjoyed happy hour with the giant calamari, Caesar salad and margherita pizza. The calamari is a MUST. Their pizzas are delicious! Super FAST service! 4 stars only because service seems to be a bit on the snooty side, but I'm starting to see a pattern here in Aspen.

Susan G.

Yelp
Well, bad decision for us. Wish we had chosen elsewhere. Staff had no clue how to explain ingredients in meals. Sadly, worst food ever. Smoked ricotta.....don't do it. Unbearable! Liked the idea of Marsalla, but not the clump of goat cheese piled on top. Very poor presentation! Save your money! Wish I could not have to pick a star.
