How I Found Home Among Bonaire’s Fascinating Mix of Cultures

"Another evening, I got to chatting with the Turkish owner of Mediterranean spot Mezze, who told me how a three-week vacation he took to Bonaire in 2015 became a permanent stay."

Every bit as good as everyone else has said! We kept it simple with one main each, but that was after the phenomenal homemade pita and some side to spread on it whose name I didn't catch. Anyway, everything was bursting with flavor. While I thought that the lamb shank was the best my better half thought it was the Moroccan Chicken. Either would be worth the trip, but if you are extra hungry get the chicken. I loved the slight heat given to the vegetables and the couscous was its own kind of terrific.

The food was great. The chicken appetizer to start was fresh and smokey. The tuna was amazingly fresh and tasted perfect, not too cooked, and was juicy and perfectly seasoned. The vegetables and sides were amazing as well. The drink was a refreshing lemonade that complimented the meal perfectly. Service was attentive and great. Also, there is a great atmosphere to eat and watch the sunset.

Came at 8 with a large party and no reservation, waited about 2 minutes and got seated. Host and waiters were friendly and gave recommendations/carried conversation. Food was great and servings were large

This restaurant has it all: great and very tasty food in very generous portions, absolutely delightful staff and a nice chilled out ambiance that invites a long dinner sharing the delicious dishes. The restaurant is airy and not noisy at all. Wonderful place, don’t ever change please.

The food at this restaurant is amazing, fabulously cooked shrimp, ribeye, and lamb shank. But the flies were so horrendous, with zero relief last night that I don't think we'll be back. It would be very beneficial to invest in fans and table spinners to keep the flies away to make the dining experience tolerable.

THE FOOD IS INCREDIBLE!!! literally the best food on the island, everyone told us to go here when we’re in bonaire and we were not disappointed. i can’t even describe how great and SPECIAL and unique the food tasted, i can only recommend, but definitely make a reservation in advance.

Absolutely one of the best places I have eaten in a long time! This restaurant is perfect and if you are visiting Bonaire I would not miss it. It gives great views over the harbour, can can choose to sit in- or outside. The staff is very friendly and kind. The food is excellent, everything is homemade and they take pride in their dishes! They have a few great vegetarian options but the meat is delicious as well. We ordered 2 mezze’s (small plates) and one main dish and shared everything. The baba ghanous was very tasteful. The prices are perfectly reasonable. Unfortunately they are closed on Sundays otherwise we would have eaten there a second time!

Every time we visit Bonaire, we make sure to dine at this amazing restaurant. The staff truly goes the extra mile to make you feel welcome and taken care of. They are attentive with drinks, and the food is absolutely delicious. I even tried to recreate the shaved mushrooms at home, but I just can't get it right. Of course, you never ask a chef for their recipes, but I would love to have this one. The Mediterranean and Turkish dishes are, without a doubt, to die for. We heard the restaurant is closing due to a takeover, which we find very unfortunate. We have truly enjoyed every visit. Thank you for all the wonderful memories.
