On the Grid : Sugarlift

"Once an exclusively online gallery, Sugarlift is now thriving in brand new digs on Morgan Ave (across from Livestream Public) where they show work and throw some excellent parties. Sugarlift exhibits primarily local artists, showcasing some of the best up and coming New York artist. They have a fantastic roof too so be sure to swing by one of their many openings in the summer and you can enjoy the view along with some stellar people watching." - Radish Lab

Lovely space, stayed there for 2 years. The units on the waterside have great views. All the units have solid HVAC, fast internet for working remotely, and the building has really friendly cleaning staff. It's mostly used by non-musicians so it stays quiet in most units. Highly recommend if you're a working artist in the area!

I absolutely loved my time renting a studio space at Mfab! The staff was incredibly helpful and kind throughout my entire experience. They went above and beyond to ensure that my time working there went as seamlessly as possible. Any concerns I had were quickly addressed and corrected. They were also extremely helpful during the moving out process, making it easy and stress-free. I'm definitely going to miss Mfab and the wonderful team there!

A wonderful place to work. Beautiful, unique and clean private office spaces, maintained by a world-class, friendly staff who is responsive, attentive and understanding of all tenants. The staff works incredibly hard to keep tenants safe and healthy during the COVID pandemic. They communicate with tenants about their electro-static disinfectant processes and clean the common spaces of the building many times a day. They even designated one stairway for entering and another for exiting as to minimize the spread of germs so that tenants can socially distance. As a tenant it means so much that the owners of mFAB put our safety before anything else during a time when most people could not even get to work! Definitely consider these well-priced unique spaces for your businesses, skills and trades. Morgan Fine Arts Building is a great place to be.

5,000 STARS to this establishment!! I work at an independent design studio/publisher that rents a studio space in MFAB for 5 years now, and can honestly say our experience has been nothing short of a dream! The wonderful staff that operate the building are immediately responsive and supportive of any concern we've ever had. The facilities are clean and the natural lighting of our units are legit life giving - floor to ceiling windows that keep me sane on the daily. Our studio hosts student visits and lectures, and so we have even rented out additional units for these events. And MFAB always works with us to acquire a unit that suits are needs and fits the capacity of our visitors. 10/10 would recommend MFAB for your studio space, event rental, pop-up, or any event your heart desires.

The best rental space in Brooklyn! Various rooms that they offer will definitely fit you. Big windows makes the space really bright without an extra light. Great space for artists workshop.

I am only giving 1 star and that is because of Matt and Marta. They are very nice people. Marta was very helpful answered all my questions and got back to me very quickly. She was also very personable. That Peter Buchman though. Not a nice person. During this whole process we were completely transparent with what we were using the space for. We were planning to use it for a vocal recording studio. No live music no drums. It was also explained that the volume would be no louder than 75 decibels. We met Peter and the first thing he asked us was what kind of music we would be working on. We told him it would be rap and hip hop. He began to tell us that he was "scared" to rent to us because of the possible noise issue. After listening to him talk a bit more nonsense about being afraid he takes another look at my credit report and was seemly surprised at the fact that my bills were all paid on time. “WOW everything is paid on time” were his exact words. But it was his last statement that got me. He said that maybe we should try renting on the "other side of the L train, but it won't be as clean or as nice as the building he has”. At that point we were done even sharing the same space as him. I took the day off from work and even paid for the application fee just to be turned away. So, we took our check and went elsewhere. I would never ever rent a space from Mfab.nyc and I suggest if you are black or brown you wouldn't either.

I recently moved from this building because I moved but had nothing but a good experience. The standout feature of having a space here was the incredible staff that were always around to help and kept the building very clean.

Yelp
"The rent goes up, and the kids go out." -- Peter Buchman Expect to pay more than what you signed your lease for. Peter will gouge you on taxes and electric and whatever else he can drum up. He's dying to turn the place into a high end office building and could give two s---s about his "artist" tenants. The line above is a direct quote that I overheard myself. Don't bother signing a lease on this money pit. "World Class Self-Isolating Workspaces" LOL.

Yelp
I've been renting a suite for close to 3 years and I am satisfied. I wanted to leave this review after seeing the other 2 negative reviews. They appear to be aimed at Peter, yet the few times that I met him, he was all smiles. Marta was out when I signed my lease. So Peter and myself spent some time together reviewing the paperwork. He was very nice and I do remember him saying, "This building brings good luck, so you will do great." I've been doing great in my new business, even survived Covid shutdowns. I'm happy, don't let a couple folks spoil what might be a great deal.
