"A Mexican restaurant in Aspen that served as the venue for Tyler and Tim's rehearsal dinner. Known for its vibrant atmosphere, it was the perfect place to incorporate a cowboy theme and connect guests to the couple's Texas roots."

Cute restaurant. We were able to get seated right away. Our server was very attentive and pleasant. Food was tasty. Portions were good. I took away a star, because of the inflated price, as it's Mexican food- rice & beans, but you'll pay double, since it's in Aspen.

Mi Chola has a lovely atmosphere, I had a great experience here! I came with a friend for drinks + apps while visiting Aspen, CO. The margaritas were good & the jalapeño poppers were excellent (albeit, super spicy)! I would definitely return if I’m ever back in Aspen.

We met a guy named Carter who worked there and he highly recommended it. We all said it was amongst the best meals we've ever had. We each had a version of short ribs (enchiladas and a burrito) that were outstanding. Order the short ribs with a margarita. Thank Carter the bartender because he was right, in addition to being a very nice guy. Loved this place.

It has really good ambiance but Patio is preferred sitting area. Lot of vegetarian options available. Veggie burrito was something new. The hot sauce was okay.

SerpAPI
The atmosphere is awesome but the food was not as expected. We ordered the SEAFOOD MOLCAJETE $40: Mahi Mahi, shrimp, scallops, chile de arbol ... we got something with mussels and chicken- it was extremely spicy and gave us food poisoning. The guacamole appetizer that we ordered was bland, kids nachos were burnt, and the old fashioned tasted like straight but liquid smoke (order the margaritas).

SerpAPI
A little pricey for Mexican food, but pretty good. The chicken chili verde soup is really nice. The cocktails are also worth stopping by. Service was great. Only place we could get a table on a Friday night for five people.

We were expecting a better flavor and more authentic Mexican food but it's not, so I would say that although the place it's really nice and cool, the food is not as good as the place. The waiter wasn't friendly nor kind. He wasn't rude, though. I think he would need improve his customer service skills.

The food was okay, my table seemed to really like it so I’m giving four stars. To add some context, I do not like Spicy and prefer mild. There was no indication as to how spicy the meals were so I ordered the wrong item. Atmosphere had a great vibe. Waiter rushed us a bit, and not very friendly but okay service overall.

Yelp
I genuinely would have loved to take a photo of my meal but I ate it so quickly...there was truly no time. The Quesabirria was AMAZING! 10/10 I am tempted to come back and eat here everyday that I'm visiting Aspen. The service was spectacular and the ambiance is perfect for an outing with a friend, partner, family, or all of the above!

Yelp
Fair priced beer and good list of appetizers. Nestled in downtown Aspen, great walking distance from the mountain for an Après.

Yelp
Mi Chola? What a cool name! Where's my Lowrider? We came in on a whim as we were shopping in Aspen. Once inside you'll see the bar area seating to your left. The decor has definitely got the Dia-de-los-muertos vibes with prayer candles included. So when we sat down I was so excited to get my all time favorite prickly pear margarita but they were out of the syrup! Ugh! No bueno. Mr. G had some Posole and wow! Like a 10 on the super spicy meter. Won't be getting that again. Service was friendly by our waiter but the "hostess" who gave us our menus? She needs some training or change of jobs. She didn't "greet" us. There was No hello? No smile? No eye contact? I'm so tired of restaurants placing the grumpiest person at the entrance to greet your guests. She just threw the menus on the table and walked away. Really? Is that how you would treat guests at your house? Maybe they just lost their motivation since they will be closing October 2025. I wish I would have had a chance to peruse the menu more, I must have been distracted by the negative energy the hostess gave us because the queso and elote that our neighbor had looked yummy so I wish we would have ordered that instead. Another downer? A local drunk at the bar yelling the F word? Ugh seriously? Where's my Palo Santo when I need it? Sage anybody? Some holy water? They might consider putting some of those prayer candles on the tables! I needed one because this visit had a lot of negative jou-jou! Overall it was just a quick stop for a drinkie and apps despite the mishaps. I hope they re-train the "hostess" or whatever she was to be friendlier. Next time I'm treated this way I'll just get up and leave...and sage myself afterwards!

Yelp
This is our second time coming to Mi Chola for margaritas and chips and salsa and it did not disappoint. I'm not sure why there are so many negative reviews - the vibe is great, it's never been too busy when we go mid-day and overall for Aspen the prices are decent. The house margaritas are pretty standard, but they do the job. The chips and salsa are fresh and have a good flavor. We tried the jalapeño peppers which definitely had a kick as noted on the menu. They were different in that they were deep fried and the inside was stuffed with a runny cheese which was super good. I loved this idea - wish I knew what kind of cheese was inside to try and replicate them. Oh and the spicy ranch! I almost forgot that was the best part. Highly recommend dipping everything in this tangy sauce. Overall this is a fun spot, especially if you go on off-season or not during busy hours you get to see all the locals enjoying the place. Definitely will be back - we love supporting this local business.

Yelp
Food was not typical of Mexican food as we know it. It wasn't bad...just not what we were expecting. Margaritas were excellent. Food was different, and not bad, but not really to our Tex-Mex taste, although it may well appeal to many people. Excellent, friendly service.

Daniella N.

Yelp
My second time here and once again consistently delicious food. My favorite is the salmon tacos which are grilled and topped with delicious pickled onions. Ordered nachos and guacamole for appetizers which were also solid. Fun atmosphere and drinks. 4 stars because service was slow. It was New Year's Eve so I understand they were probably overwhelmed but I got my beer after the food even though I ordered it at the beginning of the meal.

Jordan M.

Yelp
Expensive and not worth it. The worst margaritas of all time--I could throw tequila, triple sec, car batteries, limes, and pocket lint into a recently used toilet and it might taste better. Guac and chimichangas ok. Chicken tacos also bad.

Michael R.

Yelp
My flight was canceled and I headed downtown to find something to eat for lunch and came across this wonderful place. It did not disappoint at all. Here are my takeaways. Environment Huge restaurant with plenty of dining space whether you want to sit at the bar, in their main dining area or have views of the street with huge widows for people watching. It's a beautiful space with beautiful art and I loved the art and the designs around the bar. Very welcoming and high energy. Service The service was great and my server was very attentive and nice and gave great menu recommendations. Food and Drinks They have a pretty good lunch special that wasn't expensive (for Aspen) but very filling and tasty. I had a fried chicken taco and two chicken enchiladas that also come with beans and rice. What can i say - the food was really good. I would definitely go back to try other things on the menu that they have to offer. I also got a margarita that was pretty good and very strong. I recommend adding a fruit option to the drink for better flavor. Overall Great place for dining. The food was really good and tasty and the drinks strong for a fairly good price for Aspen. I would definitely visit this place again to try other things they have to offer. Check it out!

Yelp
Call me crazy, but Mexican isn't usually my favorite cuisine. This spot was different though. My husband and I shared: - Wild Mushroom Quesadilla - Stuffed Sopapilla- - Korean BBQ Taco - Beef Short Rib Enchilada - Chicken Molé Enchilada The quesadilla and enchiladas were my favorite items we got. I loved the sauces on the enchiladas and it was nice that they let you mix and match. If you want good Mexican food in Aspen, I'd recommend checking this place out.

Anthony T.

Yelp
I genuinely enjoyed my dining experience at Mi Chola. The food exceeded my expectations. My server was attentive and respectful. And I was pleasantly surprised how quickly our food was ready. My wife and I ordered several items which we shared. My preference, ordered by favorite and ending with least favorite is Wild mushroom quesadilla Beef short rib enchilada Chicken molé enchilada Stuffed sopapilla Korean BBQ taco The wild mushroom quesadilla was so good I wish we had ordered a second.

Jessica K.

Yelp
We were in Aspen for a few days and had looked up Mexican restaurants to try and this one seemed to be a good spot. The decor and overall vibe is on point. It has a kind of Mexican Gothic feel, which I really enjoy. I ordered the enchiladas and they were tasty. They also had good margaritas. The service was excellent as well.

Phillip T.

Yelp
The food was bad and the service was even worse. For a party of 5, our server added an auto-gratuity which was surprising as we weren't a large group. We came in on the evening of June 24th. Our server barked at us in one word responses instead of talking to us. She forgot to put in one of our entree orders and then lied about it. We asked for salt and she didn't bring it. We asked for straws and she didn't bring them. My friend ordered another beer and it never came. The food was flavorless and inconsistent. My rice was overcooked, but everyone else's rice was so undercooked that they couldn't chew it. Our beans came with different cheeses on them even when the same dish was ordered. There was no thought or care in the preparation of the meal. Management was kind and agreed with us about the situation which was greatly appreciated.

Yelp
Went to mi Chola on Saturday December 9th about 7/20 pm. We called in ahead of time for a party of 9but when we got there, all available was a table of four with an extra chair and a table of four at the opposite end of the building. I was one of the five. The two tables had separate servers so there was no coordination on timing, my group finished 35 minutes faster than the other table. The restaurant was packed with tables of woman and tables of men. One would think it was a high school dance. Drinks were good,I had a stout beer. Another had a margarita which tasted good although the salt on the side was mixed with sugar. Interesting but sticky flavor. Had to wait five minutes for limes. Other drinks were good. My food was the penne with elk sausage. The sausage was bland and the penne covered in a flavorless cream sauce. Only six thin slices of sausage. My bill for the meal and beer-42.00 with top. Steep for what I got. Others in my group said food was good but not great which one would expect with these prices and in Aspen. Could not walk in the bar area to see the other group, all floor space filled with people, mostly men, drinking and girl watching. All in-a little pricey,a little slow,ok food. I really wouldn't recommend unless you want a "middle of the road " experience. There are plenty other exceptional restaurants in Aspen. Perhaps a weekday would be better.

Yelp
The service was ok. The food was terrible. The guacamole was awful. My son got sick in the middle of the night, just hours after eating at Mi Chola. Would def not recommend eating here!!!

Mandana B.

Yelp
Surprised by some of the negative reviews here. Our experience was great. We arrived to our other reservation earlier so we stopped by here for drinks and a few apps. We were seated quickly and service was good. Pricing was much better compared to other restaurants in Aspen and it looked like they could accommodate larger groups. The decor was really fun!

Damian M.

Yelp
Epic place to grab a drink and a bite after a day ripping it on the slopes. Ask for Carter at the bar. AMAZING service. We'll be back because of him and the great vibe.... Food and margaritas too..... Slight change to my review. Went again tonight and service was just OK. Not as much love. Bummer. Wish Carter was at the helm.

Imad R.

Yelp
Crazy crazy busy with loud music, still service was amazingly fast and server were really friendly. High prices restaurant with Tex Mex food. Portions are pretty big, if you are in Aspen area and craving for Tex Mex then this is the place for you. Amanda our server was amazing, we were party of 17 and she accommodated us without a hesitation. She recommended food and I'm glad I followed her advice.

Jane S.

Yelp
We used to love going here until we had an experience that was truly insane. We sat down and immediately the waitress told us we could only eat for 30 minutes then refused to take certain orders because they would take too long and "we don't have enough time for that." We totally understand a crazy busy week but the issue was just how rude they were at every turn- like we asked if we should just go to the bar when we finished eating and they were like "you should leave when your time is up." If you want a fun or relaxed meal with friends and family DONT come here. If you want a quick marg and don't really care how you're treated OR want a watered down beverage and funny story about being treated like you're an insect then stop by. The food is good but unless you are Bill Gates himself you are poo on their shoe.

Jarott J.

Yelp
Best spot in Aspen for good food and even better drinks. Service is super friendly and we enjoyed every bite. If you're pretentious and looking for white glove attention simply because you're in Aspen, go elsewhere. These are salt of the earth, hard working people doing an awesome job to provide a good time.

Yelp
If I would have received food poisoning it would have been a better experience than the one I just had! Pro Tip: Make sure you read all the rules and regulations on the menu before you enter the restaurant or they make charge a fee for not paying attention. So read the entire menu front to back or you will be sorry. (There's a test at the end) That's right! the owner will actually steal your money by gouging the check if you're not careful or if you complain. $175 for 3 meals stated as $20 each on the menu (tacos rice and beans), 2 beers ($7 each) 2 Chardonnay ($18 each) one virgin cocktail. Maybe math works different at this altitude? Maybe a monstrous tax rate I'm not aware of? Who knows, I never got to see the itemized receipt after asking repeatedly. If you love surprises this is the place for your next gathering! I certainly was not expecting this! The atmosphere was nice, cool looking decor. The food was actually fairly decent, (for Mexican food from Aspen, Co.) however the staff was extremely pompous. Apparently they have a disclaimer in their menu and strict rules to follow and if you didn't notice and request a split check (meaning just one split not a large group) expect to be greeted with smart ass responses from a bitter burned out wait staff that hates you for showing up. Expect to be serenaded with some of your favorite hit songs including; "figure it out your self, Venmo each other or something" and "it's not difficult unless you make it difficult" if you ask too many questions to the staff expect to be overcharged. I guess it's their policy to charge you for complaining. Then they will add gratuity automatically (I would like to point out here that we had fewer than the six people required for the auto gratuity policy under the strict regulations and guidelines section in the menu) I'm guessing we got the old "pain in the ass" charge from the hero boss so he can brag to his team and so they can continue to feel entitled and safe to treat guests like garbage and he will save the day, punishing these evil patrons with fees! Good job "Mi Culo" (did I spell that correctly) absolute waste of time. Shame of Aspen!

Max M.

Yelp
I have no idea what the disconnect here is. A 3.7 is ridiculously low. The food was awesome, the staff was attentive and friendly, and the atmosphere was lively. Aspen is expensive, the no "expletive comment" of this review, but this place is reasonably priced. Drink prices are high as they are everywhere, but the food was a good deal. Give this place a try, you will not be disappointed!

Mackenzie G.

Yelp
The burritos are huge and delicious! The tacos were also a big hit :) the salsa and guac were amazing, even better than the other Mexican restaurant down the street.

Lizzie B.

Yelp
The food was completely tasteless and overpriced. My Baja mahi taco had zero flavor and looked like a battered fish stick inserted into a flour tortilla. Not appetizing in the least. The rice was so undercooked it was crunchy. Beans were cold and bland. Very disappointing. The one star is for the manager who graciously took note of our constructive criticism.

Laura S.

Yelp
This restaurant does not belong in a town like Aspen or anywhere. The experience that we had on 12/29/23 is so horrible no one should have to experience something like this. We were treated like second class citizens because we were young and female. When we checked in for our table, we were told we had to "be out in 45 minutes," despite having made a reservation months in advance. We were first informed of this by the waitress, and underscored by the manager, Dave. Why? Well the first reason was that the reservation was for 5 and only 3 people were there, so they could have "made more money" if there were 5 people. Moreover, we were informed that we could not purchase a pitcher of margaritas because we couldn't finish it in time to be OUT OF THE TABLE in 45 minutes. When we asked to speak to the manager, he defended the waitress" treatment, and worse, inappropriately rubbed our shoulder and said "we look like the kind of girls that like tequila, so perhaps a free shot would make up for the treatment". This behavior is inappropriate, disgusting and demeaning. Both the waitress and the manager should be terminated and the owners should understand that reputation DOES matter. And all guests should be welcomed and not viewed as a failed revenue sources. And that there are consequences for inappropriately touching female guests and for demeaning women overall. I would never go back to this place no matter how many "free shots" they offer and no one should go to this place or find this behaviour acceptable.

Monosrija M.

Yelp
This place is definitely pricey even in comparison to California prices and they charged us gratuity of 21% on the total bill for a table of just 3 people!!! The food was good and the decor was awesome. I really loved the Mango salmon with cauliflower rice. The mahi mahi dish was also good, the volcano poke bowl was average, the poke was fresh but the accompanying rice was not cooked properly! Drinks were just okay. (There is definitely a lot of scope for improvement) But what I felt a little weird was we were charged a 21% gratuity of almost $38 for a table of 3. It's usually charged for a much larger group (6 or more) in most of the places. Don't know if that is common in Aspen!! Read another review about this restaurant where they had a similar experience and it felt like the owners are pretty racist!!! Wondering if we have been victims of racism here...if so, wouldn't recommend any of the brown people to visit this place!!

Chaya B.

Yelp
We had a really poor experience here. Our waiter brought us to the table and before even sitting down asked us what our order was. When we said we needed time to look at the menu he was visibly annoyed. My family is vegan so we asked for the taco salad and I asked if the beans were vegan he said they were not. We ended up ordering tacos (which were inedible) and the fajitas since we were told the taco salad we could not get due to the beans not being vegan. When the order arrives the fajitas have the beans on them so I clarify asking if the beans are now vegan; he told me the beans were always vegan. When I said how previously he told me the beans were not vegan he rolled his eyes, cussed us out and rudely rushed away from the table saying all he wanted to do was make us happy. When we eat something non vegan we get very sick so I went to the manager to clarify if the beans were vegan or not since we were getting mixed messages. He did not apologize at all and blamed it that the waiter was new. All in all very bad experience.

Emma T.

Yelp
The food was delicious, the ambiance was fun and the service was fast! This is a must stop for any trip to Aspen. I couldn't get enough of the salmon tacos!

Karoline F.

Yelp
the al pastor and chicken tacos were so good! our waitress was speedy. cool mural. fun place!

Skylar S.

Yelp
The food just really isn't good. The patio is pretty spacious which is nice, but the tacos are all disappoints and the service isn't great. If you want Mexican in Aspen, I guess you have to go here, but I'd say switch your cravings and go somewhere else. I've given it a shot multiple times, but it's just always disappointing. (FROM @tastessky on Instagram)

Mitali N.

Yelp
Looking at the mixed reviews for this place, we walked in being curious which type of service and food we were going to get. When we walked in we were added to the wait list and told the kitchen was running behind which was fine with us. The food was delish. Definitely try the hot sauce salsa if you like higher spice levels. The guacamole was well made too. They kept refiling the salsa and hot tortilla chips while we waited for the food. For entrees, the harvest bowl, baja taco, fried avocado and chilli relano were all flavorful. Good attentive service.

Chad M.

Yelp
Fun vibrant surroundings with fresh, flavorful dishes add a fun dimension to dining. The service, was good, fun place to enjoy lunch or dinner.

Erika S.

Yelp
Good for a quick bite after skiing and they were very accommodating on a busy evening when every other restaurant was fully booked. Guacamole was fantastic!

Kenneth E.

Yelp
After an amazing trip to Aspen we were so excited to try mi chola. Started off with great chips and salsa. That was the last thing we order that tasted good. Ordered guacamole and jalapeño poppers. Gauc felt store brought not freshly made had to ask for lime and salt to make it better. Poppers very bland bitter taste as well. Could only eat 2. Salmon and fajitas a day and were mediocre at best. Service was also terrible

Kimberly M.

Yelp
Horrible service! I think it was the waitress first day! Had outside heaters but they weren't on ‍ forgot to take my order, took my plate before I was done! We had 3 pitchers of margaritas and felt like the buzz boy was kicking us out before we can finish our drinks. The pozole was good too bad I can't say the same about their hospitality.

Spencer D.

Yelp
This place was not it...the hosts are not very competent to begin with and the food was also bad. My order was wrong and the $15 taco I got fell apart immediately. The enchilada (also $15) was a minor improvement but still the worst mexican food I can remember having.

Tova B.

Yelp
came here for dinner last night... didn't receive silverware until after our appetizers came out, waters were never filed. their tortilla chips (fyi for gluten free people) are not gluten free which is always a bust. I brought my own chips thank god because the guacamole was pretty good. We ordered appetizers and it took forever for our waiter to come back and take our order for the main meal which didn't take too long but all our food came out really separately. some food came out 5 minutes later which is a lot when you're waiting for everyone's food to get there. i got a burrito type bowl but added pico and avocado. it was fine but something you could easily make at home for way less. the tuna poke bowl was not good though, it was very unflavorful and it came out way after the rest of the food.

Amanda S.

Yelp
I have no idea why this place gets negative reviews. I had the tamale and carnitas taco, it was delicious. My husband had the penne and really enjoyed it. The margarita pitchers were awesome and strong. The staff was very friendly and welcoming. Very accommodating too with us on a busy night and not having reservations. Will definitely go here again on my next trip to aspen.

T W.

Yelp
Good specials. $20 lunch special with a large portion s. Good drinks. It was quiet inside when we arrived. I would sit outside if it's sunny.

Bella B.

Yelp
Trendy funky fun decor, somber service, mediocre food, all in that order folks. Owners definitely need to revamp the menu and get reacquainted with a strong mexican food palate. adiós Mi Chola

Michael C.

Yelp
Wow...just blown away and still shaking my head in disgust. We arrived tonight at 6:30pm, in our section of approximately 16 tables, there was one party of four eating and 15 open tables. The hostess seats us at a table immediately next to the occupied table and assuming it is slow tonight, we asked one of the staff if we can move tables to have some separation and he replied yes. Towards the end of our meal, the manager Dave approaches our table and tells me "dont ever move tables since I am f$&@ed because a party of 12 needs this table (my table) in 5 minutes". I replied that we did in fact ask one of his staff whether we can move tables since this section was empty when we arrived. Manager Dave walks away and I am disgusted he would use this language in front of my two daughters and wife. Manager Dave approaches my table for the second time and tells me in front of my two daughters and wife that I am lying and that I seated myself at this table without asking. I told Manager Dave that I would not lie in front of my two daughters and set a bad example. Owning 8 full service restaurants myself doing over $80 million in annual sales, I train my 900 employees to: (1) never to use cursive language, and (2) the customer is ALWAYS right. Instead of using the F word and accusing me that I lied, Manager Dave could have easily and politely told me he has a problem that he needs my table to accommodate a party of 12 and ask us to move to another table while offering 2 free desserts on the house. We would have easily moved tables, finished our meal, enjoyed the free desserts and come back again this same week as we have a reservation for friday 1/7/2022. We will NEVER go back and will tell all of our friends who live in and visit aspen to NEVER visit this restaurant. DISGUSTING. Manager Dave, if you read this review, private message me and lets meet at your restaurant this week, man to man and discuss what happened tonight. You owe me, my wife and my two daughters an apology. Don't be scared and hide.

Denish G.

Yelp
1 star for food that to because of free chips and salsa. Worst Mexican food I have ever had. Tasteless food and server was rushing.

Lauren C.

Yelp
We were a little hesitant to give this spot a try during our summer visit, but really enjoyed our dining experience here. Some of the nearby restaurants had a wait, but we were able to get a table on the outdoor patio here right away. Perfect for a nice summer night. The service was great. Service was attentive and our food came out without delay. The chips and salsa to start were good. We also enjoyed a pear margarita and a mango margarita that were delicious. The menu had so many great options that it took us some time to make a decision. My husband ended up going with a Stuffed Sopapilla that he really enjoyed. The portion was more than enough food for him. I ordered the Seafood Enchiladas that were pretty good with a couple of kinds of seafood and a flavorful sauce on top. The rice and beans on the side were good too.

Alan L.

Yelp
I remember this place used to be called cantina, serving generic texmex..... but it was pretty good, now it's just generic, we ordered the shrimp ceviche, which either the shrimp wasn't freshfresh or the flavors were completely off, not only was it bland, but it lacked spice, and it smelled kind of funny, The Ahi bowl was also random as can be, Could Of used more seasoning for sure, The drinks were OK, didn't have mint for a Mojito, And the margarita was .... well a margarita, The place wasn't even busy and it took a while for us to get the food, The service was pretty good though, The place has potential but needs a lot of work.

Esmeralda E.

Yelp
Let me start off by saying I'm Mexican so my expectations for Mexican food are very high. Besides the amazing customer service and quick service the food was really really good. We were a total of 10 people for seated right away and we'll take care of. We all got different dish and literally left the plates clean. No complains at all. Keep up the good work guys. Must try if your on vacation. Yohan was an amazing waiter

Margaret S.

Yelp
Horrible margaritas and the salsa tastes like it came out of a jar. Our server took good care of us, he gets the one star.

Jordan M.

Yelp
Had the Taco salad w/ chicken, Yummmy!! Margarita hit the spot. Chips & salsa nut bueno!

Brent G.

Yelp
Delicious food and very friendly service. I could tell all the workers were very passionate about serving their guests. It's a dang shame that the local government shut down all indoor dining, especially when it's 0 degrees in January. But thankfully myself and other patrons braved the cold and supported this tasty restaurant. Their dining area is very modern and cool looking and the next time I come to town I hope to experience that vibe at night. Great job to the staff and cooks; wishing y'all resiliency through the madness.

Lauren M.

Yelp
WHERE IS THE FLAVOR??? is everyone in the kitchen allergic to seasoning? Like i know it's Aspen and they cater "sensitive" palates but come on. I had the jalapeño poppers... easy enough right? Terrible. The cheese tasted like dish water... bland. The jalapeño had ZERO spice. Just tasted like a regular green pepper.... how is that even possible? I've been here a couple times now and every time the food has been horrible... NO FLAVOR, SPICE, NOTHING! it's deplorable that this is even being called Mexican food. It's sad this is one of our only options in Aspen but I've had better Mexican food in a Bronx alley.

K O.

Yelp
Our party of four was seated promptly and then virtually ignored by our waiter. I think maybe he was upset that we didn't all order booze, as the markup on that virtually guarantees a bigger tip. When we got our appetizer guacamole for the table it had exactly ONE CHIP included with it! After several minutes, no bowl of chips was brought to the table, so we had to go ask for it. When our food arrived (about 30 minutes after we ordered) I was brought the wrong thing. When I told the waiter that wasn't what I ordered (I'm allergic to dairy so I would never have ordered an enchilada) he responded with, "well that's what I wrote down!" To which I responded, "I don't care what you wrote down; it's not what I ordered!" Fifteen minutes later, my proper meal was brought out, after my three dining companions had finished their dinners. I had a carne asada taco that was nearly inedible--it was mushy and overly marinated. The chicken tamale was tasty (even without the crema) though the masa breading was extremely thick. The rice and beans were unremarkable. When we were all clearly finished we tried to catch our waiter's eye, but he seemed intent on ignoring us. After about 15-20 minutes of him walking near our table but not making eye contact, or hiding behind the bar, eventually we went up to the bar to ask for our bills. A different person brought the bills and she was very friendly. Unfortunately it was too little, way too late. If history repeats itself, I expect to see another restaurant in this location very soon.
