Went on a whim for lunch. It's a very unassuming restaurant. They have everything prepared and you order rice, a meat and a side. The portions are huge and my partner and I split a plate. Starts with a heaping pile of rice (we chose cilantro. I plan to try the yellow next time). This gets topped with your meat option, we went with the bone in lamb that was so tender and flavorful. The gentleman made sure to add some extra sauce to soak into the rice. We got plantains as our side. I loved them. One plate easily fed us both and left us feeling stuffed. The cost was around $22.00 for the plate, two jarritos to drink and tip. Definitely not date night vibes as far as atmosphere goes, but if that doesn't bother you, this place is spot on.

I was super excited to try this place out, but it ended up being very disappointing. There aren't too, too many Cuban places in the area, so I gave it a try. I ordered a ton of food: the yucca croquettes, yellow rice with vegetables, ropa viejo, and plantains, tres leches, and an empanada. The main dish (ropa vieja with vegetables, plantains, and yellow rice). It was quite disappointing. The rice seemed to be soaked full of butter and weirdly crunchy. Plantains were okay, but a small portion. The ropa vieja seemed to come almost in a tomato sauce. The meat was okay quality and fine texture, but just not what I was looking for. Weirdly sweet and not enough vegetables. The empanadas were some of the strangest I've had in a long time. The outer shell was greasy, flaky, and hard. The inside tasted a bit like canned meatballs with sauce. Really weird flavor. The yucca croquettes were probably one of the best things I ordered from here. And they weren't even correctly made, so that says a lot about this order. Menu says the yucca is supposed to be stuffed with ground beef, but these were just yucca fries essentially. They were still pretty good, had a nice earthy flavor and good crisp, but didn't match the menu description. The tres leches was once again very weird-tasting, artificial, and disappointing. Lots of whipped cream on top. Artificial strawberry flavor throughout. The milk was watery and just not good at all. The greatest thing about this place is that the prices are super affordable for the most part. However, the quality is just not that great. I really can't recommend this place, although the prices are good. Most of the food was just not good.

I am in love with this restaurant. We stopped in over the weekend for the first time while in town picking up our son. The owner greeted us and walked us through his lunch recommendations. We all went with the combo meals - picking the Ropa Vieja, Pork Fricase, and Chicken. Each of us went with black beans and rice and then picked different sides (I am still thinking about those plantains and potatoes). The portions were generous and EVERYTHING WAS DELICIOUS. We were the only diners while there, but several folks came in for carryout. I overheard another customer talking with the owner, professing their love for the food. We will absolutely be back the next time we are in Louisville. This place is a gem!

Google
Very nice weekend. Always happy to try something different for Easter meal. Very large portion tasty and well seasoned with vegetables. Love it and I enjoyed.

Google
This place is fantastic very affordable my only gripe about this restaurant is they don't have a location in Cincinnati we don't have Any Cuban restaurants in Cincinnati. I highly recommend you stop by if you were in Louisville Kentucky. The food was served kind of cafeteria style and was very fresh and very flavorful with flavors that you don't normally get see pictures of this wonderful food and Drink.

Google
Love this casual family owned cuban spot. The owner always so friendly and sweet. Will always be a return customer here. Highly recommend!!! Such amazing food and affordable.

Google
tried this place and no ropa vieja as advertised, the man wasn’t too accommodating with the covered dishes and wouldn’t open them to show you - just says beef, pork, chicken. the rice was hard as well as the platanos, guessing they’ve been out for a while. will try to update if the next experience is better.

Lauren H.

Yelp
This was my second time here and I left underwhelmed. The service was not as nice and the food wasn't as good as the first time. The black beans were still delicious and on par with what I had the first time.

Zain K.

Yelp
The food here is delicious and *plentiful* (I sometimes get three meals out of a single serving), and I've found the service to be consistently friendly and attentive. As much as I like it here, though, I will say that each of the entrees is slightly imperfect in its own way. The fajita chicken is almost always a touch overcooked (I've actually stopped ordering it for this reason), the ropa is a often shredded a little too thin, and lamb shank can be on the dry side. Somehow, though, I still always end up satisfied with my meal, as the flavors are hard to beat.

Robin T.

Yelp
WOW ! Ordered catering for work. Absolutley fabulous. Lazaro, the owner delivered it himself. The Ropa Viejo, chicken fajita (not like you think) and the pork fricase spot on. All of the sides were perfect and the quantity was very generous.

Lisal F.

Yelp
Holy smokes-a-mole. When our first choice for Cuban food was unavailable, we stopped by Mi Sueño Cuban Express as a consolation prize. We soon discovered the error of our thinking - Mi Sueño Cuban Express should have been our first choice, and will be henceforth. Picture Chipotle, but for Cuban food. Choose your rice (there are FOUR kinds!!), protein, and toppings/sides, and prepare to devour some of the best Cuban food you've had. For vegetarians, instead of picking from the meat options, one can choose either 3 or 4 sides. At the (spot on) suggestion of the incredibly lovely and helpful woman who was manning the front, we tried the yellow rice, black beans, chick peas, yuca, plantains, and potatoes. Giant portion sizes, and truly delicious food. Mi Sueño Cuban Express truly is a Cuban dream, one I can't wait to experience again.

Kellyo O.

Yelp
Wow YUM! If you are looking for some tasty and quick food that isn't "fast food" then this is the place. I ordered the lamb shank with congris (sp?) rice and it had some kind of gravy that he put across it which was delicious. I also received 4 pretty big pieces of fried plantains. It was around $16 for the meal and it lasted me through two meals - lunch when I picked it up and dinner that night from the left overs. So about $8 / meal which is a good deal as it was filling. It may look a little scary from the outside but it is worth going in an getting an order. You can always carry it out!

Chris P.

Yelp
Divey Cuban fast food that comes out of warming trays? Oooooh yeah. Best believe it. It's so good! I'm here VERY often. Have been since they opened years ago. Not one time have I been disappointed in the food. It's pretty dang consistent and very tasty. The food is very rustic here. We are talking about basically everything braised on the bone. The lamb... oh my dangggg! And then the Lechon Asados with yellow rice is another power move. The Maduros are usually good, but sometimes it hangs out in the case for a little too long. Oh well. Still good. They actually have some really good roasted gold potatoes. Get them. I almost forgot to mention pricing! Dude... A 2 lb feast and a drink for like 14 bucks. Insane. Throw in a piece of guava cake or chocolate flan and you're STILL under 20 bones. If you're just south of the highlands, go swing through. You'll have a meal in under 5 minutes. Rad.

Yelp
Oh my, this food brought me to a happy place. This was one of the best lunches I've had in quite some time. Mi Sueno Cuban Express -- thank you so much! I ordered delivery via the Yelp app, and my dish arrived hot. It was just *chef's kiss.* I got the ropa vieja after reading so many great reviews. This was by far the star of the dish. It was so full of flavor and fall-apart tender. It was a rather large portion, and I had planned to save some for another meal -- but that quickly became not an option after tasting it. Along with it, I got yellow rice, which was a great compliment and also full of flavor. And the maduro! These plantains were sweet and soft without being mushy. I think I was a bit food drunk after eating this. I know this review is just full of gush -- but I'm 100 percent sincere with all my praise. This. Was. Fantastic. And for $10.99, you can't beat the price. I will be back here and telling folks about this for awhile.

Jesse H.

Yelp
I normally bring my lunch to work. I left it on the table this morning. I didn't want McDonald's or fast food. So I got on Yelp and looked at delivery options. I decided I would give this place a try. Thinking I will just eat a sandwich I ordered the Sandwich Cubano. Deliver was spot on! Good job! The heft of the bag made me wonder! I opened the box to see not a lunch meal but a feast! The fries were ample but the sandwich was where the heft came through. It was still hot!!! I have tried Cuban sandwiches and never was over impressed. They were okay. But they never made me wanting more. I always put it to where I ordered them. This was out of this world! The meats on here shined and the bread complimented the meats. It was delicious. Oh let me tell you the fries. Oh my the fries were perfect! I don't know how much should I can rave!!!!! Seriously of the experiences I have had, this one here I will be talking about for a long long time. They did it right. Top shelf service, great food and one satisfied fat boy!

Jessi W.

Yelp
New management, maybe? Used to frequent Mi Sueño but hadn't been in a while. No longer had a menu hanging up or the same desserts. I think the prices have increased quite a bit, and the green beans have changed (not for the better, unfortunately). I came by for lunch and got the ropa vieja, cilantro rice, green beans, plantains, and a Diet Coke. It was more than $16. The green beans and plantains weren't great, but the beef and rice was excellent. Very cold inside, staff were nice.

Wil L.

Yelp
Food is great!! The customer service is even better. Great little spot with really good Cuban food. For sure will be coming back.

Barbie Q.

Yelp
Went to try them out this morning at 11am, told they were running behind and to come back at 11:30 which I did, but they were still having issues. Looked like they were having issues with the debit/credit machine and were also doing some remodeling. However, they were all very nice and welcoming. The fish and congri were just ok, but the potato salad was the worst I've ever had. Just dry, chewy roasted potatoes with no flavor. Also ordered a stuffed potato ball but they forgot to put it in my bag. Will not be returning.

Victoria S.

Yelp
Nothing to write home about. In fact, I feel ripped off having bought 3 combos and spending over $50. The chicken was plentiful but was covered in a sauce that tasted watered down and the side of black beans did too. The only thing that I remotely enjoyed were the sweet plantains and even those weren't the best I have had in this city.

Lazaro R.

Yelp
la nueva administración trabaja en recuperar todo lo perdido por la anterior se hace el mayor esfuerzo para q todos y cada uno de los clientes esté satisfecho en calidad, rapidez y servicio

Fred M.

Yelp
Do not be put off by "express"!!! Yes, you walk into an unimpressive "lunch counter" vibe, but PLEASE dig deeper. The place is impressively clean, and then the lids start coming off an even more impressive collection of delicious food. Express? Sure, you can speedily get gourmet takeout, or take a seat and dawdle through all the favorite flavors! Four kinds of rice, three kinds of chicken, beef stew, and a pork something... Not one of our party of three of were able to successfully demolish the mountain of hot food, so we got takeaway anyhow! And my taste buds are saying "take me back"! Literally right across from Costco, use Mi Sueno as your excuse to skip the food court!

Lynn S.

Yelp
This is the best Cuban food you will find! And they are soooo nice! I always treat myself after a trip to Costco!

Alicia C.

Yelp
They give you very large portions, very good food the congri was excellent, everything else was excellent the meats cook to the perfection, loaded with flavor!!

Aysha T.

Yelp
Oh my Lord, you need to eat here. My husband and I needed to grab a late lunch on our way home after shopping. We needed something fast but none of the fast food places sounded appetizing. We happened to catch this as we were passing and swung in. You pick a rice, a protein, and vegetable. Everything was delicious. I had the rice with black beans, chicken that was still on the bone with plantains, my husband had the rice with black beans, the brisket, also with plantains. It was absolutely delicious, melt in your mouth, and my husband said it was the best brisket he has ever had. We also got a guava and cream cheese mousse and a tres leches to go to surprise our kids. It was the best tres leches I have ever had in my life. To top it off the service was amazing. The woman who helped us was an absolute delight. We are definitely going back again.

William S.

Yelp
We stopped in by chance after shopping and it was well worth it. I had the Pork Fricassee. It was so good. The pork was so tender and the spicing was perfect. I got it with Black beans and rice with potatoes. I also had a Beef Empanadas which was flaky and very tasty as well. They give you so much for your money that I had a real hard time finishing it all.

Byron H.

Yelp
Fantastic food and they don't skimp on the portions. I got the pork which was juicy and the cilantro rice everything was fantastic and you will definitely be full if you finish it all. I can't wait to try more of there menu.

Ben D.

Yelp
Delicious steam table buffet and super friendly service...and cheap! Bonus: Great 80's power ballads in background Love!

Danita C.

Yelp
My Dream. Drove by it all the time and wanted to eat at a restaurant that was someone's dream. Great food. Great portions. Great prices. This place should have non-stop traffic.

Shermaine T.

Yelp
Their drive thru currently just have the combo meal menu. However prior to covid they had fried pork belly and chicaron on weekends. I always get their black beans and rice with the Lamb shanks and extra sauce. You can never go wrong with this place. It's a unassuming gem that you should try and check out!

Eric K.

Yelp
I can't comprehend how this restaurant has above a 2 star, other than family and friends of owners made people give positive reviews. The food was all microwaved and it was so bad I threw it in the trash immediately. Disclaimer : I love to eat and this was after having been drinking ! I decided to call the restaurant ( which I never have done) to let them know that their food was obviously frozen and microwaved. The lady who picked up the phone spoke no English. Okay not a problem , I asked to speak to a manager and she said there was no one there to speak to. (Suddenly her English was improving that she could understand that.) she just said "no manager" . " no cook". This food is not fit for human consumption. If you want Cuban food go to Havana rumba.

Michael S.

Yelp
This is probably my 3rd time eating from this Cuban Restaurant and somehow they've gotten better every time. First of all if you're the kind of person that hates getting out of your car to get food, this is the place for you. They are one of the only Cuban restaurant I've come across that have a drive thru, like what?! That's absolutely mind blowing. I had a pretty big order of Congri, platanos Fritos, pork and a big serving of Flan. We in no way shape or form needed this much food, it was just my girlfriend, my mom, and I who were going to eat but by golly I'm glad we ordered so much of it. The food was delicious, top to bottom, the pork was cooked perfectly and it had a magnificent flavor, the congri was also great, and the platanos Fritos were to die for. The biggest downer here was the flan, it definitely could've used some more sugar. More sugar = the flan would've also been flawless. I walked in, they were already prepared for the order (we called ahead). They got me out in less than 10 minutes, it was quick considering that it was a decent size order. I'm on a diet, counting calories but I definitely used today as my cheat meal day and I'm glad I did. Nice job!

Gene G.

Yelp
Very reasonably price authentic Cuban Food...Highly recommend it to any and everyone. Ordered the Beef Brisket which was awesome with Congris and Sweet Plantains. Small but very clean....has both seating and again very reasonably priced!!

Tayiti C.

Yelp
Oh, my ribs. I said I was going to eat the Ayurvedic way and only eat until my belly is 3/4 full. Ha. Good luck pulling such a feat off in this place. All day long, mis propios sueños (my own dreams) contained visions of Congrí and yucca dancing in my head. My first visit here, and I promise you those five star reviews from nearly everyone who has eaten here are honest. Yes, they give you healthy portions, sí, the service is excellent, sí, the prices are fair, and por supuesto, the food is auténtica y deliciosa. So I sat here enjoying a feast of Congrí, plátanos maduros and yucca con mojo, watching a fútbol game between Brasíl and Argentina while Bachata (Aventura) played softly over the speaker. Trying to stay focused on the game, I found my thoughts fleeting back to an urgent question: Have I booked my next trip to Cuba yet? Because this comida (food) right here is definitely part of the draw of that land. As far as the setup and atmosphere here, you've got ample booths, many of them accessible, lined up along the walls. The food is served cafeteria style. Vegetarian friends, you are more than welcome here. And the menu has the little green icons we love to see making a generous appearance on menus. I live kinda far away from this place out in Buechel across from Costco, but I bet you I'll be making my way back over here on a routine basis. I deserve it. Recommendations: Congrí (beans & rice), maduros (sweet, fried plantains), yucca with that incredible mojo, passion fruit juice. I love Tres Leches, so am grabbing some to go!

Queenie W.

Yelp
Excellent food for the value. I had the pork fricasse with the yellow rice and black beans. My girlfriend had the chicken fajita with chick peas and rice with cilantro. We shared a side order of plantain which was very, very good. We ordered tres leche and flan for dessert. Which I was not able to finish because I was to full. Next time we will just share a desssert. The only reason I did not give it a 5 star is because they serve the food in paper plates and no alcohol. Will recommend the place and definitely will come back.

Andrea E.

Yelp
I stopped at Mi Sueño on a whim because 1-I Love Cuban food 2-I passed it around lunchtime 3-I'm always open to trying new places Wow! The servings were huge! Entrees could easily be split between 2 people with generous portions! The Ropa Vieja was really tasty! If I was closer, I would probably be a regular. I would love to try so many of the items on the menu! This is a hole in the wall with no frills but the food will keep me coming back! If you have no experience with a Cuban menu, I would do a little research before you go. There is a communication barrier. I love authentic food and Mi Sueño qualifies for sure! I was in around lunchtime and it was dead. This is alarming! Chick-fil-a right near was packed. People- try something different!!

Kalo S.

Yelp
I was expecting the same thing as the one on Bishop lane when I walked in yesterday. It's just slightly different being that this location is a little bigger. This location isn't as clean as the one on bishop lane too, but the food definitely is as good. I was hoping this location had the lamb shank but they don't, they did have the typical ropa vieja, roasted pork, and the same side dishes like plantains, congri rice steamed white rice, etc. I got the roasted 1/4 chicken leg and thigh, the bone fell completely off the the meat!! Such good chicken and authentic seasoning. The pork was very good too, it was stewed and wasn't nearly as tender as I had hoped for since some pieces were tough, but overall very good. If I had my choice, I'd go to bishop lane though and get the lamb shank!

Erica Z.

Yelp
We waited a while for service. We were there on a Friday around 2pm. Only 4 other customers were there and already eating. I ordered yellow rice, shredded beef, and pasta salad. I've known pasta salad to be cold. This one was warm which was very off putting to me. Also didn't have much flavor. The yellow rice and shredded beef were very tasty. My friend that was with me got the lamb chops, black rice, and yucca. The lamb was ok. But the juice from the lamb on top of the black rice was out of this world. They yucca tasted just like potatoes. I don't recommend the pickled onions they give you on top. They were very strong. We also tried the chicken empanada and ribs. The chicken inside the empanada was dry and not much flavor. The dough was really good. The ribs were amazingly good! Definitely recommend those.

Ellyse L.

Yelp
What to get: plantains, ropa vieja Service: 5/5 Atmosphere: fast casual, to go Wait: 0 mins (Wednesday 3PM for 1) Parking: small parking lot The Experience: What a surprise! Mi Sueno has an uninviting exterior, but the food and service are great! Located across the way from Costco on Bardstown, I've probably passed this place at least a dozen times without knowing anything about it. I'm not sure if it's always like this, but I try to come at very off hours to beat out crowds. Well, no one was here when I first entered. The lady behind the counter was extra nice in showing me all the options as it was my first time. Usually food in chaffing dish don't look great if they sit around, but all the meat options looked delightful and succulent. If the combination option allowed me to take multiple meats, I would have! I settled for the congri rice, plantains, and ropa vieja meat. Not the most colorful plate of food, but the flavor is what matters. They give you a heaping amount of rice and a second side, so maybe next time I'll opt for something else. The plantains are a delicious treat. Not really a side so much as a dessert to me, but I'd still pick it again. The ropa vieja is soaked in hot, savory juice, so each bite is full of flavor. I'm really excited to try the other meats too. This quick Cuban spot needs more attention. I'd rather go here than most fast food chains, so you'll be seeing me here more often.

Solace L.

Yelp
Ok guys and girls, if you like Cuban food, strap yourselves in! We tried this place tonight and were very pleasantly surprised at how good it was! I had the brisket combo with cilantro rice and yucca, while my companion had the ropa vieja with green beans and yellow rice. We also decided to get 4 potato balls for tomorrow. The brisket was awesome! It's perfectly seasoned, tender, and while it had a bit of extra fat on the side, it was delicious to the last bite! The rice was also perfectly seasoned. I've had the same type rice other places and it is usually very pungent and becomes overpowering, but this was perfect. The yucca are cut in chunks and simmered with onions and peppers in a vinegary sauce that was delicious. My companion let me try her ropa, and it was a bit drier than the brisket, but was delicious as well. Both tasted like they had been slow roasting over a flame all day. She also thoroughly enjoyed the rice but said the beans needed some salt (which I thoroughly appreciate since I know people with heart conditions). She also had enough that she couldn't finish for roughly $10 each. After dinner, we had to try the potato balls too. They were really good with 1 issue: they were cold by the time we made it home. Taste wise, they ranked up there with the rest of the dinner though. We will be back again (hopefully soon)! The appearance of the place is a 7, it's nice, clean and spacious; the service gets an 8. He was helpful, and friendly; the food gets a 9 (it's freaking awesome!), and value gets a 9. It's a lot of food for the money and well worth it! Overall, this place gets a 9/10.

Camila M.

Yelp
I do not understand how this place got couple of reviews with less than 4 stars... There is not a place like this in the whole Kentucky. I work in the area and me and my friends are regular on this Cuban Restaurant. Whats good??? Everything is good. First of all, is quick, the food is ready to go, with a great selection of 6 or seven meats everyday plus like 4 different kinds of rice and sweet plantains!!!!! Yuuummmmyyyy!!!!! I tried the charcoal chicken couple of days ago and it is DELICIOUS!!!!!!! comes with 2 sides and with this couple of sauces that goes with the chicken...EXCELLENT!!!!!! Over all..... the restaurant is great!!!!! I highly recomend Mi Sueno & Pepe's Pollos. Of course We will come back... Owners, keep it up PLEASE!!!!!!!!!

Jake P.

Yelp
Excellent food and service. The only thing in my opinion that really keeps it from a fifth star is that the building itself is pretty run down. The rice with chicken and vegetables was excellent, as were the meats and sides that I tried. The Cuban tamale was very good.

Yelp
My girlfriend and I are always looking to try something new and hope to not waste money. We didn't want to go somewhere simps go such as, chick-fil-a or McDonald's. So, we turned around and drove up to Mi Sueño. We didn't know what to order so we asked for recommendation. He brought us A slice of pork with rice and black beans and plantains (Very delicious). He also brought a lamb chop with rice and black beans. All in all I'm very happy we turned around and went here. 10/10.

Mitzi L.

Yelp
My first time eating Cuban food! The staff made my experience a great one! I got Pollo a la piña with rice and fried plantains! All for less than $10! What I love is that the staff gave me the opportunity to try different types of rice without charging me an extra fee, I love places that are all about the customer!

Unknown N.

Yelp
LOVE THIS PLACE! Amazingly authentic food for a great price. All the food tastes like mi abuela used to make, and you can tell its cooked with love! They have a very casual & inviting atmosphere. I love bringing my non-cuban friends for lunch and seeing their minds be blown by all the delicious food. Not to mention the excellent prices for the large portion of food they give you. Super friendly staff and the guy that owns it is one of the nicest guys I've ever met!! He always welcomes you with a smile and a great attitude. I truly love this place & can't say enough great things about it! 5 STARS

C W.

Yelp
Fabulous Cuban food. Amazing Ropa Vieja , Maduros , black beans & rice, guava pastries. Easily as good as the most authentic places in Miami. Congrats to the Louisville Cuban community.

Justin W.

Yelp
Very good food! Not experienced in Cuban cuisine except for the sandwiches! Lol. Anyway, I told the guy working to give me what he liked. He gave me a generous portion of what I believe is pork with black bean rice and plantains. Twelve dollars and some change for a very good meal with a drink. I have enough food for two. The pic is from after eating until I was stuffed!

Jill N.

Yelp
I was excited to see a Cuban restaurant open in the space which has cycled through many other businesses. Stopped in for a quick lunch and was excited to see many of my favorites from my years in Miami on the menu. The special includes your choice of meat, rice, and side dish starting at $9.99 for chicken. They have several fresh juices, and I got the passion fruit juice which was yummy. For my lunch I chose the fried fish fillet which is made to order, with congri and yucca mojo. After a seven minute wait my food was ready, piping hot and absolutely delicious! I have enough left over for at least one more meal, if not two. Highly recommend!

Yelp
Out of the many times I've been here, this is my first bad review for this location. I just stood there at the counter waiting forever to have my order taken. The worker just stood there on the other side of the counter ignoring me. He just stared at me while talking on his cell phone about a personal thing. After waiting for a while, I started to walk away but he told me he was done and not to leave. When I started walking back, he got back on his cell and went back to talking and still continued to ignore me. A customer sitting down eating waved at him for something and he stopped his conversation to talk to her, but I guess I wasn't important enough for him to stop to take my order. So I started to leave again and he then again told me he was done on his cell and to come back, but I didn't fall for it that time. I just smiled and said I'll be back (which I won't) and left. Headed to the other cuban cafe up the street. I'm not sure who this guy working tonight was. He was not the regular guy there. I'm not sure if the owners have changed, or maybe the regular guy was out for the day. I never had a bad experience here before. The food is always good. The food looked yummy today, but I never got to try it today because I couldn't even get them to take my order.

Amy H.

Yelp
I'm always on the hunt for delicious food. This place did not disappoint. We ordered 2 meal combos to go and tried 1 of their chicken empanadas. We had the lamb shank w/ the congris rice and side of sweet plantains. We also got the stew chicken leg quarters w/ the cilantro rice and side of yucca. The portions were huge. Definitely had leftovers that was just as delicious eaten the following day. The lamb shank and chicken was so tender and full of flavor. The plantains and yucca complements the flavors of the meats so well. I'm already wanting to go back to check out the the items I missed out on like the beef brisket and potato balls. Those items were already sold out by the time I got there. I recommend going in earlier so you don't miss out on some of the items that are bound to sell out.

Yelp
I got the rice with beans from everyone's recommendations but my boyfriend got the cilantro rice and it was DELICIOUS! I'm definitely getting that next time. The service was fast. Since it was our first time we told the lady at the counter and she explained what was in front of us and our options. Very friendly atmosphere. The food is delicious with variety and the quantity is excellent.

Yelp
The food is delicious, but service leaves a lot to be desired. The inside is closed so had to go through the drive thru. There is no menu posted at the drive thru. I waited several minutes without any kind of acknowledgement so went on around to the menu. There I again waited several minutes with no service. Finally a man came to the window, handed me a menu, and told me to go back around. Once I decided what I wanted, I went back to the window and again, it took a while to get someone to come take my order. Once I had ordered, the food came out quickly. However I find this system to be very annoying. It is off putting enough that I probably won't go back until we are allowed to order inside again. The food was wonderful. I ordered yellow rice and vegetables, ropa vieja, and maduro. The ropa vieja really impressed me. There were large chunks of tender, juicy beef in a well seasoned sauce. The yellow rice was light and fluffy and the plantains were well caramelized. If I were rating this place based on food alone, I'd give it 5 stars. However, service has to factor in. They never appear to be very busy so you'd think they would try harder to provide excellent service.

Yelp
Is it fancy? Nope. Is it clean? Yep. Is it delicious? Heck yeah! Housed in a former fast food restaurant, Mi Sueño May not look like much but it's clean, affordable and delicious. I had the rice, entree, side combination meal. For the rice, I picked congris (rice with black beans). I selected ropa vieja for my entree and plantains for my side. My husband and I split a pastry. Unfortunately they were out of tres leches cake. All were seasoned perfectly and tasted amazing. I'd have posted pics but it was so good I forgot to take pics until I was done. The pastry was my least favorite part. It wasn't their fault at all. It was baked to crispy perfection and had guava and cheese inside. I keep trying guava in hopes that I'll like it but I never quite fully enjoy it. If you're a fan of guava though, give it a try.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I finally stopped in and got two entrees plus sides to share and we have a full to-go box of leftovers!! The pineapple chicken was great, super tender and you get SO much chicken. The sauce that goes on the yucca was pretty garlicky, not a problem for me though. The fried plantains were perfectly sweet and definitely the best plantains I've had in the U.S. We tried the congris, white rice, and the rice with chicken and they were all super flavorful. Ended the meal with a big piece of the tasty tres leches! Will definitely be frequenting this restaurant. So much food for a reasonable price and the staff was very kind! Also, they had the cutest little girl in there helping out and she totally made our night!

Yelp
Went for dinner last night. There was a bit of a language barrier, but we managed to work it out. There also seemed to be some discrepancies between the menu and what they actually had. But once we figured things out we were good to go. The food was absolutely delicious. I had the pork combo with congris and sweet plantains. Then i went back to get some fried pork belky to take home. My boyfriend had the beef combo with congris and potato salad. My mom had a leg of lamb with rice and chucken noodle soup. My stepdad had a cuban sandwich. Then my picky kids had empanadas. We all thouroughly enjoyed our food. I'd highly recomend both the pork dish and the pork belly. Even the picky kids couldnt seem to stop earing the fried pork belly. *YUM*

Yelp
I was given a plate big enough for two when I got only one. The fricassee and maduros were good. The pricing is extremely fair for how much I was given as well. I took it to go, but the workers were very polite to me for the time I was in there.

Yelp
We are so glad to have found this gem in our new neighborhood. I have loved everything I have tried from the cubano sandwich, to the yucca croquettes. The complete meal is a great deal, HUGE portions here and it tastes great the next day too!
