Been looking for a Bakery that carry cuernitos with cheese. I placed an order and voila!! One of the best cuernitos I ever tasted. Delicious 😋

Mike Sanchez

Google
I do not have photos of this experience as it was a recommended place for Mexican sweet bread...but as i got to the place..it was huge...many people went in and out quickly..fresh bread was dispensed every few minutes as it was literally flying off the bins...on the side were people eating tacos that were freshly grilled for the customers. It is rare i give 5 stars..but everything about the place was on point. Cashier line was fast and prices were proper for the high quality freshly baked bread. The wife ate her favorite piece..a pink glazed donut..and she gave me her highest approval..we are very picky about the quality of foods we review. I highly recommend this place when in Austin Texas!! Mike

First time coming here it looked great smelled great so I bought sweet bread and torta Cubana. Plenty of parking.

Google
That time of day…a sweet delight! I stopped by this bakery/ restaurant on my way to a shop located in a retail center. 🍰 The atmosphere smelled dreamy and the vibe was that of a typical Mexican kitchen. My order was a few pieces of sweet bread for my office -but when I got to the counter I couldn’t believe their prices! Extremely pricey for baked goods. However, despite my discrepancy the guys at the office all gave it a thumbs up in terms of tastiness. 👍The employees seemed average, not rude but not friendly either. The place itself was clean and the variety was endless. Judge yourself and let me know. It is a “middle-of-the-road” verdict. Happy Treats! ✨

Google
This place has the best torta and horchata I have haver had! 10/10 I fell in love with the freshly made torta bread along with the 3 salsas that compliment it But the cherry on top was the horchata. I only regret not getting the biggest cup I won’t lie, the torta was big enough that I would have been content with just half of it but considering how good it was I did not want to let it go to waste😭so I ate the rest I am definitely coming back Also the water in the back is so refreshing by the way

Google
This pretty much the best Mexican Bakery in South Austin So many options You can also get Tacos/Burritos etc here Fresh OJ Grab a tray and some tongs and grab away I recommend the Chocolate Flan or Tiramasu and Tres Leches- and anything cream filled A couple conchas and your ready to roll

Mark C

Google
Unbelievable bakery. Three large display cases of various pastries that you help yourself with tongs. You place your selection on a tray for checkout. Another warm display with a variety of churros. This besides the display with cakes. In addition, they have a small cafe off to the side where they serve meals. Of which there is a display in place of a menu to choose from. It'll be a drive but I will definitely be back.

Google
So many amazing pastries to choose from. I got a donut with cream filling it was delicious. Love how cozy and authentic it is and the prices are great!

Yelp
Been looking for a bakery that makes cuernitos with cheese. I placed an order this morning. They were perfection. Love Mi Tradition.

Yelp
It's the middle of winter and so you know it's that time of year where you have your hot coffee, chocolate and pan dulces. I have had a huge craving for pan de canela for the past couple of months and finding this place made me so happy. The establishment is huge with a very large selection of authentic artesanal breads and cakes. Their pricing is also very reasonable. Service staff were all very nice. I also like that they were open late! I would definitely be a regular here if I lived in Austin.
google avatar

Yelp
Came here on a Sunday with a couple pals. You come in, grab a tray and tongs, and load up your tray. We all grabbed a few things from the bakery. We loved everything we tried. The churros are superior. They were warm and filled with cream. The price point is incredible.
google avatar

Yelp
The food didn't meet my expectations, and I definitely won't be returning. I wouldn't recommend it to anyone.

Yelp
I was looking forward to purchasing a lot of bakery items this morning for my employees at 6am on Cinco de Mayo. Their Google page and their website state they open at 6am. I arrived early to see to be disappointed. They must have changed their hours and not updated them. I had to be at work by 7am, so I ran to the La Mexicana Supermercado for pan dulce for 30 people.

Yelp
Love coming here for great food and quick service. It usually gets busy in the evenings but the food is great, price is right, and establishment is family friendly. Best Panaderia in Austin.
google avatar

Tomas L.

Yelp
Food is good and healthy. Service is okay workers are usually in a hurry and providing half fast service. Ambiance is not as clean and sanitized as it should be. Bread is good taste and presentation, but lately is coming out bland and hard. The increase of price was extreme ridiculously expensive. I understand everything everywhere is expensive but it should affect the quality of the product. I was very unsatisfied with the día de muertos bread that I bought almost 50 dollars for two bags of bread! Was ridiculous. I just bought the Rosca de Reyes it was $70.00 !!! It is tradition for our family to do the rosca from mi Tradicion, but the rosca was awful. The breath was so hard if you hit it in the place you could actually hear the sound of how hard it was. Thankfully my sister bought the rosca from Sam's it was so much better not as good as it used to be from mi tradition but definitely better than this year rosca de reyes.

Efren P.

Yelp
Placed an order and paid by phone. I arrive and the order is wrong. Instead of remaking it for me they let me know that my order was repeated to me. Basically, said it was my fault. Very confrontational. Terrible customer service. Will not be returning.

Yelp
Still giving 4 stars at this point. Tried a new pastry as pictured below. It was really good. It had whipped cream, banana in the center, chocolate and cake. My only complaint is both pastries pictured were a bit dry however, in fairness I always come in super late to this bakery so that could be why. We also picked up some of the pig Marranitos. To my disappointment, I don't really taste much of a gingerbread like flavor. I recently had some at H-E-B that were honestly better. I don't have a good frame of reference though or really know what the standard is for Mexican sweets but, this bakery is helping me learn and I am enjoying that experience so I will continue to try new things until I figure out what I like best.

Yelp
Love this place, prices are so good, food is amazing! Plenty of parking, as it's located in a shopping Centre. The cakes are delicious
google avatar

Georgina G.

Yelp
We came here to get muerdo bread which is a traditional bread you eat after Halloween and 1. In so happy we were able to find it here and 2. It was delicious! Their assortment of pan dulce is amazing and they taste just as good as they look! If you stop by make sure to grab a agua fresca, the melon was probably one of the best agua frescas I've ever had!!
google avatar

Leticia M.

Yelp
This panadería/bakery was really well stocked and the bread was well made and delicious. They had alot of options at opening times. They also serve fresh orange juice!

Andrew R.

Yelp
Great food. Delicious sweet bread- albeit a bit overpriced. The tortas are the bomb- I've never been able to finish my meal there. Recommended.
google avatar

Sean C.

Yelp
This place has some really good baked good. My friends pass this place all the time and decided on Sunday to come in. We were blown away by the amount of options there were to choose from. We ended up filling our tray with everything that looked good and they definitely tasted good as well. They brought out fresh conchas and we had to try them, really good. All the pastries we had were good and you cant beat the price. 10/10 would recommend.
google avatar

Jeff C.

Yelp
Well this place used to be great. But for some reason everything I loved, from the huaraches, to the tlacoyos, to everything made with their in-house organic blue corn masa is now gone. Guess what? Now they're like every other Mexican restaurant in town. Everything that made them special and different is gone. All that stuff is still on their website which is why I went in. But don't be fooled, it's all gone.
google avatar

Diane D.

Yelp
While visiting Austin, I had a hankering for Mexican sweetbread, so we drove over to Mi Tradicion to check out their selection. First off, I was blown away by the assortment of choices that were available. If you could think it, they most likely had it sitting in their walls of glass cases. They had at least 7 varieties of empanadas. My favorite was the pumpkin with the sweet potato placing a close second. Wasn't too crazy about the caramel. In addition to having beautiful cakes for sale, I was surprised to see that they were making fresh, warm buns that you could purchase as they were just literally coming out of the oven! There's so much to see here that we almost missed the macarons!!!! Yes, they make French macarons at this little Mexican bakery! We had already paid and were on our way out when I spotted them in the case and since it was my birthday, I ended up getting 2 of each flavor (chocolate, pistachio, lemon, berry, strawberry, and something else), and they were pretty good! What a nice surprise to be able to find my two favorite desserts - empanadas and macarons, in the same location!

Yelp
The service is always fast and kind. Great mix of American and Mexican baked goods. Delicious dishes available too and always a very relaxed atmosphere. Love coming to this spot for a little break from life.

Itzayanna F.

Yelp
Only good for bread, like bolillos and conchas etc. good place though. Great service too.

Yelp
Love the fresh pan dulce. Awesome tortillas love the food atmosphere great for breakfast tacos and coffee

Yelp
I just moved to South Austin six months ago. I've been looking for my Pan Dulce placed. I tried the famous one on S. First. It was OK. I come from San Jose, CA where we have the most amazing Pan Dulce place called The Pink Elephant. Mi Tradición is definitely going to be my Austin go-to. It was everything I expected. Fresh, delicious, and authentic. I loved that I was able to select my own pan as well

Yelp
Literally the nastiest Mexican food I've ever had. Their tacos are randomly good and cheap, but the "huarraches" and "Chile rellenos" are a sad, frankly offensive immitation of the real thing. The blue corn tortilla was the texture of a pancake!, and the Chile relleno bread was like a bland sponge, inside sat a pitiful poblano that housed a sloppy tiny amount of mozzarella cheese. They give you literally like 1 tbsp of "sauce" to put on your Chile rellenos so it's super dry, plus they don't even give you rice, so you have to pay for it! My meal was $16, and I didn't even get full. Super disappointed since this place is so close to my house.
google avatar

Anh N.

Yelp
Wanted to try the pastries here and tacos but I happened to come on a night they were short handed so...no tacos. Clean place with a dining room and a large assortment of fresh baked good to pick from. Just grab a metal gray and Tongs and start picking out what you want. Everything from Mexican pastries to churros to cookies and donuts. Will have return to try their food.
google avatar

Darby L.

Yelp
I'm a semi-regular here, the tacos here are almost always amazing. They have some off tacos sometimes, but I think they're just flukes like there are every other place I've attended regularly. Their tacos are moist, the meat portion just right, spacious and their drinks are amazing! I haven't tried their Horchata yet, I'm hoping that it'll be just as good as their Jamaica juice is. I also haven't tried the pastries but my friend liked her conches a lot, and she's very picky about pastries.
google avatar

Yelp
I grew up in central Mexico. I have been on a quest for good, authentic Mexican food since I moved to Texas 15 years ago. It does not get much better than this. - The best Pan Dulce I have tried in the US - The best Tortas in the US - The best quesadillas (central Mexico style) in the US - Excellent huaraches, tacos de bisteck and alambres (competes with Guajillo's in San Antonio) We love Mi Tradicion.
google avatar

Allison R.

Yelp
Really good tacos! We got several bacon egg and potato, and a bacon sausage potato and cheese. The sausage was like a cut up hot dog so I didn't think it would taste very good but honestly everything worked. Their green sauce was really good too. I ordered kolaches and they were out so I got a different pastry and it was all really good. I will definitely be back. My boyfriend and I can see this place being a regular breakfast taco joint for us.

Yelp
I have come here before to have some bread and the cakes (capuchino tres leches), always were delicious, but this time big surprise, cake was old and the strawberries started to grow something, i tasted the cake, nasty, called to let them know and they said bring it back, when i went back the lady i talked to was SO RUDE, she called me liar that they make cakes fresh every day, never apologize about the price incident, thats why i decided to leave this comment, they should know more about customer service.

Yelp
Definitely worth checking out! Mi Tradicion has become my new Go-To for baked goods. If its your 1st time and you're feeding a group, load up on Churros, Apple Crisp Sticks, Custard Cones, and Muffins; they're easy to grab and go great with coffee. You WILL NOT find donuts here...Heads Up Tip. Second Tip: If its you're first time, go to the cart in the center of the bakery and grab a tray and a pair of tongs...and now, you're all set! Go pick out whatever you want!! The staff is super friendly, but everyone speaks fluent English; but they do their best, and they're still very helpful. Can't ask for more, considering I don't know a lick of Spanish.
google avatar

Chris F.

Yelp
Pretty confusing place, but also I don't speak Spanish. When you walk in no one addresses you or gives you instructions on what to do (there's two places to go that have a cash register and I stood at one for 10 mins and no one came over). After a while, someone else came in, and just walked over to the pastries and picked out what they wanted and out it on a metal try then went to a different cash register a bit to the back, so I just followed suit. I got there around 11-12/noon. Most of my items were a bit dry/stale so maybe it's better to go in the morning. However, the muffins were good.
google avatar

Kristal H.

Yelp
I drove an hour to this place to be extremely disappointed. From the looks of it the pan dulce looks like it's going to be delicious! .... boy was I wrong. The first pan tasted like a big ol slice of regular sponge cake, it was so big it gave me dry mouth instantly. There is no Mexican taste of pan to this. The presentation is there but sadly the taste is not! For Mexican bread it's pretty pricey too. The workers on the bread side are pretty rude as well , they lack customer service. Side note: I went into the restrooms and they are disgusting especially the sink area outside the restrooms, absolutely gross. The machine to dry your hands is overly unhygienic. It looks like it was mold and just dirt all over it! Mi Tradicion - False hope
google avatar

Aaron M.

Yelp
Okay it's time. We've had this place to ourselves for long enough. This is the real deal, this is not even a little slice of Mexico this is a little slice south Austin - this is the way we live down here. Some of these menu items may be unfamiliar but none are so odd you'll be weirded out. Plus, thus have food under plastic on the counter lien you'll see in a Chinatown. Just point and grunt - they'll help you out. After you've ordered, grab a tray and some kitchen tongs. Pretend to be a crab. Once that's over - delight in the myriad of Mexican baked goods. So good. Try everything. Pro tip : it's a bakery and the bread or "bolillo" is really top notch and they use it to make sandwiches (tortas)... So get one .
google avatar

Mayra B.

Yelp
Love this bakery. They always have warm bread when ever I go. So many options too! Their restaurant side serves tasty dishes. I love their Hawaiian torta and their tacos al pastor. Not a fan of their horchata. Don't know if it was just a one time thing but their horchata was way too sweet and you could taste the sweet milk they put on it and the vanilla. I liked their pineapple and orange drink though.
google avatar

Andrea S.

Yelp
Great place! Authentic mexican! Very good & EXTREMELY cheap! I would definitely say to try it! They have so many options. Vegetarian friendly! Good pan dulce! Really nice!!!

Denise C.

Yelp
Not very good service with the employees, they closed at 9:30 and i went around 8 and they were already cleaning and they didnt sell me a coffee because they had turned off the machines already it was too soon they still had like 50 minutes till closing

Yelp
Growing up as a middle-class youngin' in St. Louis, MO, the only churros I had access to were the kind thrown onto a hard plastic tray by cafeteria staffers wearing hair nets in the public elementary school system. Needless to say, they were just as good as the government cheese sandwiches and Jello-mixed-with-Cool Whip cups. Now that I live in Texas and can pick up fresh churros from local panaderias, I yearned to taste the difference. On a hot Sunday afternoon, I made my way to Chuy's second location and marveled at the shining displays of Mexican pastries for a good twenty minutes. Tips: *Grab a tray and some metal tongs *Proceed to make your selections and plunk them down on your tray *When finished, take your tray to the counter and pay. Your items will be wrapped up for you if you're taking them home *Walk to the other side of the bakery to check out the tacos and tortas menu *Order a torta; you WILL make room for it later The tortas are made-to-order so you'll probably wait ten minutes... in the meantime, inhale the sweet smells of comfort and plot how you'll rip into your churro when you get home. Or not: I couldn't resist taking a few bites while waiting! When you do make it home, dip that churro into a steaming cup of Mexican hot chocolate. It doesn't matter that it's 85 degrees out - just do it! The al pastor torta was stuffed with stunningly tender, pineapple-kissed flavorful pork, generously smeared with perfectly-ripened avocado along with plenty of onions and a healthy hint of cilantro. Just wonderful, really. And the churro? I didn't know it was possible to love one so much. That's it - I'm adopting you.
google avatar

James H.

Yelp
When I'd first heard about this second location opening up recently in South Austin, I was super-psyched to try it given my affinity for the one off 183. This one's just like the original. Impressive variety of baked goods, and a dining area where you order your food at the counter. From the breakfast tacos, to the lunch/dinner tacos, to the torta sandwiches, I've never been disappointed. The original location is by my work, but this one's closer to where I live so now I'm always near their amazing al pastor and baked goods.
google avatar

Sandeep G.

Yelp
I went back for the bolillo - meh. I can see why people like it because it has a crisp crust, but otherwise, it's just bleached, flavorless, quick-fermented, industrial-quality bread. It's a disgrace that they have the nerve to call this "artisan bread". The chocolate churro was abysmal. It was limp and soft and tasted of bad quality artificial chocolate. I didn't even swallow the one bite I took. I guess there really is no accounting for taste. Sigh. Their al pastor taco is okay, but not really worth the visit.
google avatar

Rebecca G.

Yelp
New owners with more expensive bread:( Bread used to be more exciting with more options but now prices went up and bread choices went down.
google avatar

Celeste P.

Yelp
I love this place. For breakfast, lunch, dinner or when you just need a delicious snack. The tinga and chicken and papas quesadillas are amazing on their delicious blue tortillas and my husband's tortas always look gooey and packed! My favorite pastries are the strawberry and pineapple empanadas. Sweet and full of filling! They seriously have anything you might desire and don't leave without an aqua fresca. The cantaloupe is so good!
google avatar

Matt J.

Yelp
This place is oh so good! Love their selection of baked goods and their tacos and quesadillas are on point! Get a bit of everything because it is all delicious!

Drea D.

Yelp
Food was not good. No vegetarian options, ordered a torta with no meat add beans, all other toppings desired. Half of my torta had no beans whatsoever. Beans are so cheap, that this business should be embarrassed to send an order like that out to a patron. One slice of avocado, a handful of lettuce, one tomato, bread was totally dry. This thing was just sad for 6.99. Meanwhile, my husband's torta was stuffed with meat, had cilantro and onion. Made no sense. Will not be returning. Service is apathetic at best, bordering on unfriendly.
google avatar

Jake A.

Yelp
This place not only has great sweet bread but they serve good lunch and dinner items. Their horchata is really good as well! If you need a cake for a celebration, they have that too. I've tried a bunch of different things from this place and have not been disappointed.
google avatar

Vanesa R.

Yelp
This place gave me FOOD POISONING! AVIOD THIS PLACE !!!!! I order steak tacos and within 2 hours I got sick!
google avatar

Kimberly C.

Yelp
I'm so glad I found this place on Yelp. It was our first morning in Austin and my husband and I wanted Mexican food. Even around 9am, we were able to order tacos, huarache and horchata. I've already been here 3 times too which says a lot. Since its only been 3wks. Food: They have different options compares to a taqueria. Their meat selections are diff too such as only ground beef (picadillo (?)), pastor, Carne asada and mushrooms as options. Didn't see carnitas, lengua or pollo asado for example. They have gorditas, flautas too. -what I tried: quesadilla, torta, huarache and tacos. Pastor is decent..vibrant color to it and served with bits of pineapple . Asada is even better.. tender! No grisly pieces. -the torta w egg, chorizo and milanesa is really good. Comes served on toasted bread with a brush of mayo, refried beans, tomato, melted cheese and lettuce. I like how to chorizo is cooked more thoroughly compared to most places. It's not mushy. -the huarache is thinner than what I had elsewhere and tender. It had too much cream for my liking but you can just wipe it off. -breads: there are at least 15 varieties to satisfy your sweet tooth, ranging from cookies to croissants, donuts and traditional mexican breads. If you don't have a sweet tooth, try their hand held meat pies. The chicken potato was tasty and the spicy beef wasn't spicy at all.. the flaky, buttery crust is delicious though. At $2 a piece, I had 2 for lunch. The breads on the other hand didn't have labeled pricing. I ended up trying only a few and liked the one with cream cheese swirl on top and a thick 3 inch layer of buttery cake below. I tried the one covered in sugar and rolled almost like a croissant..it was firm and drier..not a fave but I liked the hint of orange flavor. I overall don't love mexican baked goods and prefer Chinese baked items. But I did however like the cheese one a lot. -horchata and coffee: very good and smooth. Not chalky like some places especially when you reach the bottom. Even their coffee is smooth. Wish they had cool pitcher of creamer rather than these tiny plastic cups where I use three..and it says keep cold..and its not. They leave it on the counter.. Overall, I'd return in a heartbeat. I'm already thinking about it but I know I should watch what I eat a bit more!

Yelp
Wow.....I live near this place, so I can't believe I haven't tried it before today. My first trip will not be my last. I had a torta at lunch. It really resembles a Cuban sandwich. The price is right and the portion is insanely huge. I could really do better with a half torta, but that's no an option. As it stands, I ate about 3/4 of the sandwich before I felt like I was gonna need a bucket, if ya know what I mean. I then ventured over to the bakery to check things out. Mostly breakfast items and I was looking for cookies. They had some selections, but nothing that caught my eye. I was going to pass on baked goods until one of my friends pointed out the cream cheese danishes were only 75 cents. I got 3 of those and 1 of the bolios for $2.38. That's a really good price for homemade bakery items. Atmosphere is nice and clean. They must have done a remodel on this space because the shopping center they're in has been there for decades. Can't wait to go back and try some other items. I've heard their pastor tacos are good and you can bet I'll be trying them.
google avatar

Colin D.

Yelp
This place is great. They make all kinds of inexpensive and what I can only assume are authentic mexican sandwiches. At lunch with coworkers we may have been the only non-Hispanic people in the restaurant. Everybody was happy with what they got even though it ranged from tacos to sandwiches and within those from pork to beef to chicken. They were all hot and delicious. The deserts are also amazing and there's a whole wall of them. I can even remember all of the little puffy pastry deliciousness that I ate, but they were all delicious. The other amazing part is that a big sandwich and desert came out to be like $7. It's by far one of the best lunch deals for food around.
google avatar

Nick C.

Yelp
Authentic Mexican bakery. The pastries are top notch and the savory dishes are also good, just like Mexico. My only wish is that they were able to warm up your pastry if you're staying there to eat. (microwave only)
google avatar

Sarah P.

Yelp
The chorizo is so good! Not gristly at all and really flavorful. The horchata is so tasty! It's not watery or anything. It tastes like a cinnamon chai. I will come here more often!
google avatar

Michele D.

Yelp
Nice variation breakfast! Muffins are beautiful & tasty. Breakfast sandwich are in yummy croissant dough- choices of fillings - we choose pork & ham & cheese. Its an authentic Mexican bakery.
