Went during a Milton Avery exhibition. The exhibition was quite good. The gallery building has alot of potential, a beautiful space but not enough works to fill the space, the top floor was practically empty.
The 2 star rating wasn't because of the lack of works as I know galleries build and grow over time. My rating is due to being treated like a criminal.
There was about 20-30 staff at the gallery at point of my visit in December, but only 4 visitors. One security guard followed me and my partner uncomfortably close, even practically following me to the toilet. As well as other staff staring over at balconys at us. I have been to galleries all over the world and never had such a bad experience with staff.
There was another exhibition in an outside space in small rooms. There was no information on the works in these small rooms, and the qr code just took you to the same information on the board, which was practically nothing. With contemporary work it is important to inform the veiwer on what it's about, because it was hard to tell if the extension cable was apart of the work or just sloppy displaying of the work.
