Wonderful afternoon spent on back deck tasting all they had to offer. Everything was great and took a few bottles home. Grounds and tasting room are French architecture- inspired. High quality wines, service and grounds.

We reserved a private tasting room at Michael Shaps Winery to celebrate my sister-in-law’s birthday, and the entire experience was excellent. The wines were surprisingly good—well-crafted and balanced—even considering the challenges of Virginia terroir. We added charcuterie plates to the tasting, which were beautifully presented and paired nicely with the wines. The service was exceptional from start to finish—attentive, knowledgeable, and genuinely welcoming. The private room had a comfortable, understated elegance that made the whole afternoon feel special without being stuffy. A great choice for anyone looking to enjoy quality wine in a refined yet relaxed setting.

Had a great tasting experience at Michael Shaps. We came with our friends from Charlottesville, who were members of their club. We did the deluxe tasting, which covered the majority of their offerings. All the wines were delicious, and our server was friendly and informative. The winery itself is beautiful, plenty of outdoor space to relax and enjoy the wines. There is even a Tesla charging station if you need a charge while you are touring. Definitely make Michael Shaps a priority for your next wine tour!

Michael Shaps Winery is a fantastic venue for wedding photography. Its intimate, rustic charm and beautiful vineyard views create a warm and inviting setting for capturing special moments. The variety of spaces—whether among the vines, by the winery, or under the open skies—gives me so many creative backdrops to work with. Very nice winery!. I visited several in the area on a vacation trip and while this winery does not have all the magnificent landscapes of others, the wine is worlds better. The lady who waited on us during a Sunday was fabulous and great to talk with. I rate them highly for truly being a good winery and having passion for the art of making good wine.

Nice local, working Winery. Tasty selection of flights. We tried the Crisp (rose and white) and the Rouge flights. The back deck is a lovely peaceful location to sip and nibble. Helpful and friendly staff. Go check it out!

Impressive wines and knowledgeable staff. We enjoyed ourselves thoroughly. Definitely a need to visit winery and right down the road about a mile away is Micheal Schapps. The atmosphere is nice and they have plenty of space inside and out to accommodate larger groups. First colony has live music and a thatched roof :) Love that Cab Sauv and Port-style!! Thanks!!
