The lamb shank was to die for you would’ve thought you were at a five-star restaurant with exquisite meals not a local diner. Chef is excellent. The waitress Ava was even better. We even had a boss boy entertain us with music. Great local food and environment. A must check out.

William Mazzone

Google
Best home cooked meals In a clean environment with servers who are more like family. You get so much for your money. We couldn't wait till they reopened. We highly recommend it.

Google
September 2019 Andy's back and the kitchen is fast again! I am so glad. Now I eat here regularly! I love their 2x4 breakfast special! They also have really good lunch specials that are less expensive than a combo at fast food places but much more tasty! The wait staff are so friendly! You got to try them out. Summer of 2018: Great food slow kitchen. Breakfast took over an hour for the time we sat down to the time we left. The kitchen could be a lot faster and turn the tables more often. The food was great though good proportions and a great price! If you're not in a rush get their breakfast 2x4 special and you won't be disappointed...

Google
Restaurant is family oriented. Nice atmosphere. And some of the best servers I've ever met. One in particular is leanne. I think she's the nicest person I've ever met

Google
Old grease. Made me Put food on a plate to take it back. I was eating the fries and they took them away as well. Then no longer got my rice pudding bc their mistake so basically made no sense to take it off the bill and it was a 3 pc fish and chips done with soup and a dessert. Well thanks for taking the fish off the bill bc you screwed me and it was more expensive bc unknowingly they then made me pay separately for all the extras they provided$ and it was more expensive. Used to be amazing but that was awhile ago.

Google
12-09-23 finally opened June '23 & food is bk to being great again...04-29-21 Andy's gone & the tough Corned Beef was not good...they took $2 off bill...will give 1 more chance...9-15-19 we didn't know who ANDY was but he is BACK...Wonderfully cooked & seasoned food, much made fresh daily. I highly recomme dand this to anyone who wants a good meal & not pay an arm and a leg to get it....please give a thumbs up 👍 if this review helps you - thanks.

Google
The food was cold and not good. The only thing hot was the gravy and hash browns. Nothing was cooked right

Google
Excellent daily specials and a wide variety of choices. Chicken marsala, spinach pie, perch dinner and the greek salad with chicken are some of our favorites. The prices are reasonable. The portions are large and the staff is very friendly.

Yelp
Great food and service and clean, just had yesterday their creamy chicken ravioli, sooo good. Randy F. Doesn't know what good food and services is right here. Just come by and see for yourself

Yelp
Always friendly and welcoming. Cozy and comfortable. My family's go to place for good food and friendly faces.

Yelp
This place has absolutely great food along with a wide selection of meal choices, the staff is polite and friendly, shout out to Carol, Kristina and the owner Margarita who takes great pride in her operation, one of the cleanest restaurants around! Try it out, you won't be disappointed!

Yelp
Very disappointing. Michael's once led the way in portion size, cost, flavour and atmosphere. They need to re-tool, re-invent or re-visit the old model from pre-pandemic times. We met Becky; We met Marcia. Wonderful ladies. Friendly, knowledgeable and efficient. Years ago we would ask the waitress what's good today, what do we avoid...and they'd tell you honestly? That's these two. First, let me say, fix the parking lot. Wow! Finding a parking spot was also a challenge. The place seemed clean enough but not like it once was. I didn't even dare the restroom. I'm sorry, but the Biscuits and Gravy were a disaster. Just this side of a vulcanized chunk of rubber used at the hockey arena. What happened? The eggs were runny even after I specifically asked that they not be. Everything was either too salty or too bland and you shake every container on the table trying to achieve some taste. My friend Dom ordered a simple two egg, sausage and cheese omelette that set him back $14.50. I could see if you had several ingredients. But just sausage and cheese? The couple at the table next to us commented that they've also been coming here for years, but since the new owners took over a few months back, it's gone down hill. What's funny about that is when I tried to convey my dissatisfaction at the check out, they claimed this is how they've always done things. Like it has been going on for years now. 09/24

Yelp
Very cheap ingredients- you get what you pay for an this slop was over priced - truck stop isnt even a good description more like prison food

Yelp
Stopped here for my wife's birthday breakfast (7/4/76) and I had the country skillet and she had the waffle (of which was huge for her). My skillet was very good. Clean restaurant, quick service. Nice place.

Yelp
I haven't been here in a while and it is so gross here. Breakfast was so greasy that my eggs were sliding on my plate. I used my napkin to blot the grease. I don't know how someone can mess up bacon but the taste was odd. Pretty much left the majority of breakfast. Awful.

Jesus F.

Yelp
Today marks my last visit to this place Asked for freshly Cooked bacon since it's auful and never get to eat it, waitress said she could not guarantee what they cook in the kitchen! I think it's time to find a new place for brkfast! Sad Been coming here for years but I guess we no longer get to order food the way we'd like to have it!

Yelp
I have bragged about this place for breakfast in the past. Haven't been there in a while, but was very disappointed today. I am not writing this review to scare people away. The point of my review is to see a local type business succeed and do better I want them to go back to making good food and not as many mistakes. We had the sausage, bacon and eggs. Our sausage had turned. It was sour and I had a hair in my eggs. When I mention it to the server, she acted almost as if it was my problem but did offer to take the food back and get me something else. I said I would like the same but no sausage just the bacon. The eggs were good but she forgot I asked for hashbrowns well done, and the bacon was soggy. We both noticed the rye bread tasted more like white, not rye. No, I don't expect to get anything taken off the bill, but I do expect to be offered an apology or some recognition. So a discount is a form of that. Perhaps the removal of the price of one of our sausage. Was that. So I mentioned it again when at the register. But instead of answering my concerns, I was told they serve it here all the time.

Yelp
Most reasonably priced menu in town! Michael's just reopened and the place is very clean and new! The food was great. We ordered two different omelettes and for some reason the crepe menu hit me as an extra! I was hungry this morning. We placed a half order of strawberry with no whipped cream. Wilma, our waitress, has to be the happiest person on the planet. She kept the coffee coming and as I've mentioned in other reviews, can't condiments are on the table as they should be. Hot sauce is available on request. Service was quick. We drove by here a lot over the past few weeks and always seemed like there were few patrons. However, it's timing. They do get slammed here so it seems the worst is spreading how great this place is! Receipt shown below.

Yelp
Food, service and price all worth the visit. Waitress made it a no brainer - old fashioned service is such a rarity.

Robert D.

Yelp
Ordered pork chops ,they were delicious , the homemade mash potatoes tasted like they were days old , the gravy tasted like can ,very salty . vegetables were cold, my lemon rice soup was so over cooked it tasted like paste, so the waitress asked if i would like desert instead , than charged me extra for the pie . I questioned my bill to the owner ,her replay was i made the soup , nothing wrong with it . wow so much for customer service , I have been a customer there for many 30 years . the NEW OWNER just lost a old customer . who would have continued to eat there. my family and I will never return! Sincerely disappointed :( Robert D

Yelp
They wanted al.ost $4 for onion soup. With no cheese. Only onion. With cheese would have been $6. We split one fish dinner. Our bill for 2 just splitting one dinner was $20. Portion sizes are small.

Yelp
Went in there yesterday about 2:30pm both my husband & I ordered omelettes. Mine was suppose to of been a corn beef hash and all that was in it was Swiss cheese. The hash browns were more like a plumb of mashed potato's put on the grill, left for a min turned over and thrown on the plate. Absolutely horrible. The waitress was all confused , giving us the wrong order and then had to wait for the right order. For the prices you guys now charge. I suggest you at least find a cook that knows how to make a omelette & hash browns. I use to go in there 3X week. I won't be back.

Joe L.

Yelp
Dinner prices were advertised on specials, but didn't reflect what's saved in the cashier' memory. Young waitress needs more experience. Food is bland and think overpriced compared to other restaurants in the area.

Yelp
been coming here for 10 years. you get quantity and quality for very reasonable prices. Their coleslaw rules

Yelp
On a Friday late afternoon, I stopped in. The parking lot was pretty much full near the entrance, but there was still parking out back. When I walked in, I noticed they were probably running at 85 to 90% capacity. Still, no problem getting seated immediately. I was pleased when I noticed I was in the non-smoking section. Friday during Lent. All good Catholics abstain from red meats on Fridays. Now I am by no means a seafood afficianotto ( a fish and otter, maybe?), but I noted that they had plenty of fish and seafood listed on the menu and in their Friday and Lenten inserts. Oh, and apparently I'm not a good Catholic, either. But, no matter, we're talking good food here, not religion. I ordered a walleye dinner with fries. It also came with a salad and cup of soup. All was good! I continue to stop here when in the area and looking for a good meal. Give them a try!

Denise R.

Yelp
Best breakfast and service. The portions are very large and delicious. I will be a repeat customer.

David W.

Yelp
The owner Margarita is a lovely woman that treats you like family from the moment you walk in. I was amazed at the quantity and quality of the food you get at a very reasonable price (too cheap in my opinion). Whether for breakfast lunch or dinner, you will get your fill of outstanding food and old fashioned hospitality. For of you a little older like myself try the Mostaccioli. The free dessert was the piece de resistance!

Jim O.

Yelp
food used to be good need andy back to straighten things out i had fish and chips was burnt chicken par was nasty stay away stay away stay away 0 star if i could 1st review i ever posted it was that bad

Yelp
My wife and I have been going there for years. Food is good prices and good and staff is friendly. What is there not to like?

Chris F.

Yelp
Stopped in for a quick breakfast this morning, service and the food was very good. Will be back:)

Michele W.

Yelp
The food is good and the service is great. On the other hand the coffee is not great. I was surprised to find on my bill that there is a special charge to use a credit or debit card. Credit I understand but debit is the same as cash. I was told everybody charges this. I disagreed. She said her credit machine costs her $200 a week. She said it's just like the gas station. The gas station does not charge if you use your card as debit. She said to bring cash in next time. I won't be back. She was very defensive about it but I dine out often. Never before have I been charged like this. Ridiculous.

Yelp
This place is great-definitely a cut above other joints in the family dining mix. A sign out front proclaims: "Andy is Back". Not sure what it was like before Andy came back, but now that Andy is indeed back, we can't get enough! Tired of pricey, hipstery restaurants that give you a thimbleful of food, we've been sneaking around more modest establishments lately, looking for hidden gems. Michael's has it goin' ON! Delicious vittles at ridiculously low prices. Huge portions. Loads of specials on top of an already large menu. Attentive, sweetheart servers. A clean and pleasant dining room. We've loved everything we've tried. The husband's kabobs boast huge chunks of flavorful meat, and the soups have all been outstanding! Last time we were there, I threw down a major family dining gauntlet by ordering the veggie stir fry. Expectations were low! Well I was floored upon receiving a huge plate o' veggies on a bed of rice...veggies that were fresh, cooked just right, and full of flavor! Tons of red, yellow, and green peppers, pea pods, broccoli and more in there, not just the cheap stuff! And this came with a salad, cup of soup (tried the corn chowder-magnifique!), and a little homemade apple cobbler dessert. For under ten bucks!!!!!!! OH yes.

Yelp
Still at it up there. The deserts may have been reduced to just ice cream and no more pies like the previous owners had, but the food, soups and salads are all still just as good. My favorite diner for the past 30 yrs.
google avatar

Melissa F.

Yelp
I just love this place!!!!!!!! You know that restaurant on Seinfeld that they always ate at? This place is that for me. Granted idk how the food was on the Seinfeld, but I know the food at this Michaels is great and made with love. Every time I've went the service is great, the food has that home cooked feel, and tastes amazing, and you get your money's worth every time. Each dinner comes with soup and salad, and a dessert. This last time I had Helena as a server, who was so good I left her a 50% tip, I highly recommend sitting in her section if she's there. I brought my dad and cousin and they loved everything also. My dad said he can't wait to go back, and neither can I.
google avatar

Mark M.

Yelp
My uncle has told me about this place countless times before during the past few months, saying how nearly 18-20 years ago that they used to be the most amazing restaurant from what I believe, even his kid, one of my good friends has ate there too, but that was until they had a new cook come in. They said since then it hasn't been nearly as good and the only people that go there now are seniors, nobody else, which is somewhat true because I didn't see another person there at that restaurant that was my age, a couple were close to it though, that number includes the cook. However, the reason why we went today at around 3:20-3:30pm is because they recently had Andy come back, we've been hearing good things about the place since then so we figured we'd give it a try, my dad and I. First of all the service was spot-on, it couldn't have been better with how fast we were being served, the lady that served us too was quite nice, she offered some soup for an appetizer, the italian wedding soup. It tasted pretty good but it did seemed watered down and it sat hard on my stomach, afterwards we got our drinks pretty quick and we ordered the half pound black Angus beef, welldone with one just having the meat, bun and pickle, the one my father ordered, then mine with everything on it with two sides of fries. The food itself came back pretty quickly but we ran into the first error then when she brought my father's burger back with cheese all over it, two good melted slices, after he told her that he wanted it with just the meat, bun and pickles. When he let her know about the error almost immediately she brought it back to the chef in the back, I'm not sure if he was Andy or not but it was a black gentleman and he looked pretty official for a small little restaurant. The second error came when she brought back my dad's food, the chef just scrapped the cheese off of the one side of the burger and flipped it onto its clean side and placed the bacon back on instead of just cooking a whole new burger entirely. Nothing too bad, but still, it wouldn't have been that hard to cook a whole new patty. As for cleanliness, it was pretty decent, I checked out their bathroom to even be sure about this claim, the bathroom itself seemed well kept but I couldn't get a look in the kitchen, even though I tried before leaving whilst paying for our orders, it ended up being a whopping $25 for the whole deal, which isn't that bad but not that good either considering it's just two burgers and fries, the pop definitely wasn't worth the price, I could've just went next store to the dollar general and bought a couple two liters for the price of their drinks. All in all, the food was decent, the service was great but it seemed as if they're still slacking when it comes to cooking the food itself, I would've given only a two star if it wasn't for the service and cleanliness.

Kelly R.

Yelp
I'm not sure where everything went wrong with Michael's Kitchen. The food is worse than ever and the prices have nearly doubled across the board. You only get 1 refill on your drink, and don't think they won't charge. If you aren't offset by the prices and quality, perhaps the smell will get you. It's something pungent and unpleasant and almost made my meal completely enjoyable. I used to love this place, but those days are long gone. Now I wouldn't recommend this to my worst enemy. The plants in the building were dead. For some strange reason, there was a tomato chunk and a few shreds of lettuce under my toast (ordered breakfast). My hash browns were burnt on the outside and cold on the inside. I asked for cheese on my eggs, so they lazily added a Kraft slice on top (for an additional $0.60). And using cash will save you roughly $0.95. Overall, this isn't the same Michael's Kitchen that it was before it closed down. You'll get better quality and prices at McDonald's for 1/4th of your time.

Yelp
If you're into having your dining experience ruined by lousy customer service, this would be a great place to go. We came here for dinner on a Saturday evening. Two of the meals were fine. The third, which was chicken pot pie, was not. It was 90% potatoes with little else and almost a nonexistent amount of gravy. Needless to say, it was extremely dry and inedible. The waitress never once apologized. She took her time bringing over a menu for something else to be ordered and took her time taking the replacement order. The replacement order ended up being french toast. Needless to say, the first two meals were almost completed when the french toast finally arrived. Toward the end of the meal the waitress stated she had to charge the full price of the meal (instead of the lower price of the french toast) because the soup and salad had already been eaten. Any legitimate restaurant would have comped this meal entirely for the horrific inconvenience. Not this wonderful joint! I said, you're actually going to serve up slop and then charge the full price of that meal? She stated that someone in back already gave her a hard time about it but she would go talk to him again. When she came back, she identified the culprit as Johnny. She said Johnny gave her a hard time about it because "there was nothing wrong with the pot pie." If he truly believes there is nothing wrong with the pot pie, he should most definitely not be in the food industry. The fact they find nothing wrong with serving up god awful food along with treating customers like trash speaks volumes. There are MANY, MANY other family restaurants in the area, for which I am thankful, because I will not be returning to this one. To quote Bette Davis in one of her most famous lines, "what a dump!"

ChadSays R.

Yelp
Went there today (9/18/21) with my mom and Aunt. The waitress brought us our water, and when she brought the straws, they were entirely uncovered (no paper or plastic) and had hair on them. I'm not a big stickler on this, as I just didn't use the straw, but that is unsanitary and disgusting no-less. The food? Sub-par. I got the Gyro Pita which was delivered plain and all of the extras on the side jumbled in with my fries. So I had to build my own Gyro, and the meat? Looked like beef jerkey and had a similar texture. My mom got their hot hamburger sandwich and I'd go as far as saying this much: The ice in my water was warmer than that burger patty. I took a bite and almost instantly wanted to barf as the food hit my taste buds. My Aunt got the Chicken Cutlets, and those were really good. But 1/3 of the meals being really good, 1/3 of them being ok and 1/3 of them being awful, gives my rating a 2 out of 5.

Baby N.

Yelp
Been here once or twice before and really enjoyed it! Good food & prices. Came today and ordered food, 25 minutes later it's still not out. We ordered a sandwich and two crepes. We are more than understanding about waiting, but they really weren't that busy. We left after a man who came in after us got his salad and his actual HOT meal before we did! I understand it was one meal, and things cook at different times. But almost 30 min ? And our waitress never came back. Not sure what happened if she forgot to put in our order or what. Just disappointing. Probably will give them another try but ):

Liz S.

Yelp
Michael's was very busy. The food was good and service was great considering the restaurant "was short staffed.". The rice pudding was a nice finish.

Yelp
Personable, friendly service makes food taste better. Excellent value for $$ with good portions. Diner with a touch of pineapple slice that I am loving. Steak N Eggs -- perfectly made. Steak is dependent on steak sauce for flavor. Shareable. Coffee -- bottomless cup with light flavor.

Yelp
Genuinely one of my favorite restaurants of all time. The fish and chips are PHENOMENAL and I honestly would never want to eat them anywhere else. Best staff ever, they're all so sweet

Yelp
Great food and service. This was my first time here. It was like going to grandma's for dinner. Service was great and on top of thing. The food was perfect. We had fish dinners. I will be going back!

Yelp
It's been here over 40 years and is an excellent family Diner. We ate here twice last week and enjoyed every bite. The staff is so friendly and well-established. You will love it.

Yelp
This is my first time giving a one-star review. So please enjoy. I live near Michael's Kitchen and have never tried it before but always wanted to. So when my friend and I went Saturday morning we were expectations because it was very busy and it seemed to be the place to be and since it was busy that should be a sign that the food is good and the service is good too. I honestly cannot remember when I had because my rage was so blinding due to the WORST service I've ever experienced in my life. Let me give you the run down. When I asked her for a refill of my water when she came back to check on us she SCREAMED at me "I'M GETTING IT RIGHT NOW! CAN'T YOU SEE ME!?" Then when I asked her for an extra napkin she, again, shouted "I'M REALLY BUSY! YOU'RE GOING TO HAVE TO WAIT FOR IT!!!" She was so mean and nasty, she even gave me judging dirty looks every time she walked by my table and every time I asked her for something too! Now, listen, she wasn't some 20-something wet-behind-the-ears girl who hates her job because she's really trying to become and "actress/singer/model", oh no, she was an older woman who seemed to be doing this for a long time. Why would someone act like this, especially knowing I have to tip you at the end of our lovely experience? By the way, I didn't tip her, so basically she and I are BFF's. I won't be back, suck it Michael's Kitchen.
google avatar

David P.

Yelp
I'm really torn on reviewing here now. Saturdays and Sundays, this place has a solid breakfast menu (which is available all day/night as well), and their breakfasts are really great. I'd give it a five star on that alone. However...popped in here for dinner one night, and all three of us got horrifically ill. Look, I'm not saying it WAS the food, and I'm not saying it WASN'T the food...I'm just saying that the one and only point that all three of us had in common from that day was being at this place roughly four hours before the onset of symptoms... ...that, you're welcome, I will spare you the details of. So it COULD have been a coincidence...but I also haven't ventured back here for a weekend breakfast since, either. I don't believe in living your life in fear...but I also don't believe in juggling with knives, either. All in all, the same thing could happen anywhere I suppose, and with the number of times I've been there for those weekend stacks of pancakes, I suppose one bad experience would be par for the course...but...yeesh, this was a doozy.
google avatar

Alex R.

Yelp
My boyfriend and I went on May 10th, Mother's Day, and it was packed. The poor servers were running around non stop, so when our food took 45 minutes we weren't really upset. When our food did come, I found a large chunk of ham in my omelette. I am a vegetarian. I ordered a vegetarian omelette. At that point I no longer trusted anything on my plate and left without finishing, it can already be hard to find vegetarian options at restaurants without having to worry about errant chunks of meat finding their way into your food. Bottom line, it's unacceptable for a restaurant to be careless with ingredients.
google avatar

David K.

Yelp
Great prices on food. Large portions. Favorites: Fish and Chips, Friday night (homemade) - Clam Chowder, hot turkey sandwich, burgers You can't go wrong with anything on the menu.
google avatar

Fred R.

Yelp
Going downhill. Use to be a good place for lots of food at a reasonable price. A couple of weeks ago I tried the prime rib. From the flavor it was obviously left over from the day before but it was edible. This week I had the lake perch. Whatever it was it was not great lakes yellow perch which it what you expect to be served in Michigan. It was so bad I could only stomach one bite and sent it back. They still do serve good breakfasts.

Ken C.

Yelp
still the best , best meatloaf , best menu , and great service ,keep up the good work 10 stars thanks ken c.

Yelp
I decided to try something new for breakfast. Maybe I caught Michael's on a bad day. Maybe they were offended that I wasn't drinking coffee, which they push kind of aggressively. I don't know, but the one waitress was kind of surly and mine only came over 3 times and never checked back on me. I had to borrow Frank's red hot from the table across the aisle. Most places are pretty quick for breakfast, but almost 15 minutes for an omelette? Holy cow! If the food was good I would give them another chance, but it was only mediocre.

Chris S.

Yelp
Worst service ever. Owners son is very rude. Was there with a large party waited over an hour and 15 minutes for food and then when it came only half of our party got it, the rest waited an additional 15 or 20 minutes . Owners son didn't care he stated that everyone was waiting on orders. He said the it was slow because it's a holiday and they were busy. Don't you want your business to always be busy? But if you cannot accommodate your customers BIG FAIL!!!!!!! Feel sorry for the servers to have such poor management
google avatar

Yelp
Everything is extra. Cheese is extra on French onion soup!!! Why?? I looooooove Wilma though!!! She is the best!!!
google avatar

Ed P.

Yelp
Went there for breakfast this morning with my two sons. Stopped in because it is near our church and the location is convenient. It was pretty packed like you would expect on a Sunday morning. I have eaten here before, and the food has always been very good, as it was this morning. The problem is it took 45 minute for our food to come out from the time we ordered. I worked in restaurants in college and have never seen this. I mentioned it to the hostess when cashing out, and her reply was that it is always like that on the weekends, especially that tome of day. No apology, nothing. With that kind of response, it may be quite awhile before I go there again!

Yelp
This place is a great diner. You get SO much food for a cheap price and no other diner compares. The waitresses are mostly great, though some seem to try to rush you out the door, which is why I didn't give 5 stars. However, food is delicious (I specifically order the fish) and it they provide you enough food for 2 meals. Highly recommended if you enjoy getting more for your money!

Travis N.

Yelp
The food was cold and just not very good kinda like a big boy that was going out of business the famous fish was not tasty at all kinda wish I would have gone to McDonald's next door not somewhere I recommend going try ramshorn

My daughter and I were so hungry and we say Michaels kitchen. We walked she sat us down and all over the floor was bits and pieces of food and of little nasty things. So we get to the table and the seats on the booth are so disgusting. We looked for something to clean it with and we found a buser with a rag and cleaned the booth seat ourselves and the rag immediately turned dirty. It looked like the floor hadn't been swept in days! I wouldn't want to eat somewhere where the appearance isn't as nice as the food. I'm certain this restaurant has seen better days today was not that day.
