I had a terrible experience at this Michael’s location and feel compelled to warn others. We came in to buy yarn and were immediately drawn to a section with a large sign clearly stating “Buy 1 Get 1 Free.” A nearby aisle had a different promotion — “Buy 2 Get 1 Free.” We made sure to grab our yarn from the Buy 1 Get 1 Free section specifically.
However, at self-checkout, the promotion didn’t apply. We asked for assistance, and a young lady who appeared to be a manager or supervisor (named Andrea or Drea, Asian-American descent) came over. When we explained the issue, she claimed she “didn’t see” the sign, so we walked her right back to it. Instead of acknowledging the clearly displayed large sign, she pointed to a tiny sign next to it that said “Buy 2 Get 1 Free,” insisting that was the real promotion — even though the huge Buy 1 Get 1 Free sign was what customers naturally see.
When we pushed back because the large sign was misleading, she became condescending and said, “Let’s read the sign together,” in a tone that made it feel like she thought we were stupid or trying to get away with something. It was extremely unprofessional and unnecessary.
She eventually said she would “honor the sale,” but when we got back to the register, she only gave 25% off each item instead of the actual Buy 1 Get 1 Free promotion she agreed to apply. When we questioned it, she told us she could not give us the items for free, even though that’s exactly what the posted promotion advertised and what she herself said she would honor.
At that point it was clear that the signage was misleading and the management had no intention of correcting the mistake or treating customers respectfully.
Overall, this experience was frustrating, unprofessional, and felt dishonest. We absolutely do not recommend shopping at this location, and we will not be returning customers.
