Michamvi Sunset Bay Resort

We recently stayed at Michamvi Sunset Bay Resort and overall had a relaxing and peaceful experience, though a few areas left room for improvement.||Positives:||The resort is impeccably clean and set in a quiet, tranquil location, making it ideal for anyone looking to escape the hustle and bustle. The lush green and well-maintained landscaping add to the charm, creating a peaceful and picturesque environment throughout the property.||It has direct access to a pristine, almost private beach. The calm waters and stunning sunsets create a postcard-perfect setting. The availability of free kayaks and paddle boards was a great bonus, allowing for some light adventure without any additional cost.||Negatives: ||The biggest letdown for us during our stay was the food. We had opted for the half board plan, but both breakfast and dinner failed to impress. While the breakfast menu covered the basics.. the Dinners had fancy descriptions but were often poorly executed in terms of flavour and preparation excepting a few dishes. ||Also, despite the resort’s website marketing that dinners would be served in different locations with live entertainment, this wasn’t the case during our three-night stay — all dinners were served in the same dining area each evening, which took away from the promised variety and experience.||Another surprise was the absence of shrimp or lobster on the menu — neither was it served nor available to order, which was disappointing for a beachfront property in Zanzibar.||Final Thoughts:||Michamvi Sunset Bay Resort truly shines when it comes to natural beauty, cleanliness, and peaceful surroundings, making it a great choice for relaxation and beach lovers. However, for those who place a premium on culinary experience and in-room comfort, there are some noticeable shortcomings. With improvements to the dining quality and in-room amenities, the resort has the potential to become an exceptional destination.

The most serene, peaceful and private resort with the bluest waters, most stunning sunsets, perfect shores and azure waves. Stayed in room C1 from the 25th till the 28th of March 2025. The food at Michamvi was beyond amazing and a key highlight. Every meal and drink ordered was prepared with excellence. The rooms are well equipped, clean and spacious with the most beautiful views. Tours and drivers are available at reception at a more reasonable price compare to other resorts. My partner and I had booked a sunset cruise departing from the resort itself including a spice and Stonetown tour with a driver taking us thereafter to the airport. Staff are extremely friendly and helpful. Shirley was extremely helpful and welcoming - ensuring that we were happy and ok at all times. A key highlight was our private and romantic supper which was set up on the beach with a bonfire the night before leaving. This is the perfect place to relax and detach while enjoying the best sunsets and views. Thanks Michamvi for a beautiful stay.

My partner and I stayed at Michamvi Sunset Bay in January and it was a wonderful experience. It’s a relaxing and well serviced hotel, although it’s not got much to do near by. So if you are looking for an adventure type holiday, this is not your place. If you are looking to totally chill out and relax, and eat yummy food – this is your place! The bedrooms are nicely designed and spacious, and bathrooms are new and clean. You get fresh milk in your room for cups of coffee/tea whenever you want, which is a nice touch. Shirley the GM is an absolute delight and gives everyone personal service making sure every guest is happy. Congratulations Shirley on how you run this hotel! And she is well supported with friendly staff. The food is amazing, from breakfast, lunch to dinner - always different choices to try. You get a beautiful sunset every night which is such a highlight and nice to have pre dinner drinks watching it go down. It’s such a bonus to get the sunset on Zanzibar without having to go up to busy Nungwi.

Very Very Nice hotell, Very Good facility’s. The food is good and the staff is so so nice! I definitely recommend this hotel, because it is not big so it feels like home! The hotel has very nice view and a good atmosphere.

Beautiful setting with sunset sundowner happy hour at the bar. Great staff and service throughout.|Recommend booking Half board as surrounding restaurants are scarce.

Beautiful resort, lovely staff and tasty food. The pool as very nice, and you can do activities like snorkeling close to the resort.

Where do we even begin?! Just the most perfect peaceful place to stay on a very quiet part of the island. We had been on safari so were hoping for somewhere relaxing to chill out for the remainder of our trip, and Michamvi Sunset Bay Resort was beautiful. The beach bar is gorgeous and the drinks are all delicious - we took the cocktail tasting very seriously and definitely indulged! We loved the dinner location changing each night, and all the options on the menu were delicious and very fresh. All the staff are extremely friendly and do anything they can to help you. We both had massages and again, perfect and so relaxing. We did say that we have never been somewhere so clean, our room and the outside space were permanently immaculate. The list of possible excursions is long, and you can absolutely make it what you'd like to be, whether that is seeking hustle and bustle in Stone Town, snorkelling on reefs or day/sunset trips on a dhow - or just relaxing and enjoying paradise. Our room was very comfortable and quiet, and there were endless private places to relax across the hotel.||We will absolutely be back!

It was the most amazing experience, everyone was helpful and it felt like home.|Oh and the food amazing. I am definitely going back. Josia, Ken were so helpful and made us feel right at home. Rooms are cosy and the aesthetic beautiful. Keep up the good work.
